Possible Fix when Backlight Patch doesn't work
Like many others, I have applied the Backlight patch and experienced NO improvement after the Tilt is turned off and on.
I have loaded PHM's RegEdit and had a look at other registry settings and found a solution that works on my Tilt.
Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER / ControlPanel / Backlight you will find a key called "LockLevel", my value for this key was initially 1. I changed it to 0, and since then, whatever setting I use for the backlight timeout stays put even after numerous power cycles and days of use.
Would someone else who is familiar and comfortable with RegEdit try this and confirm this so we can verify it is not just isolated on my Tilt?

I am using the same PHM's , and my value is set at "0" already....
yes, Mine is also set at 0.
I cant believe that HTC would release a patch that doesnt work!
Anyone else had luck?
Setting it from 0 to 1
"Un-dims" your backlight. Setting it from 1 to 0 makes it bright thats all I could figure out
It's a known problem with the 6.1 ROMS, although not everyone experiences it. Even the stock AT&T ROM had it. An official fix for it was released not long ago. It's available for download here: http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=67&cat=1&dl_id=269
It doesn't wipe your phone, so it's safe to do without having to set everything back up.
backlight works, but scroll wheel does not

This worked fine and fixed the backlight issue on my stock AT&T Tilt ROM, but it seems to have screwed up my scroll wheel function. Now my scroll wheel only turns up/down the phone volume. I can't seem to get it to do anything else in any other program.

I haven't experienced that problem. What ROM are you using?
Finally!
Click Here for the .cab that fixed my unit. I got it off the ATT forum.
NOTE to all... Even this fix did not solve my problem until I checked the boxes to time the backlight. I like the backlight feature on all the time. If I don't want to see the screen, I turn it off.
I Had The Same Problem Too, But Then I Realized That Whenever I Disabled The Password Option In Settings It Went Back To Normal And Stayed At Whatever Timing I Set It To. The Only Thing About It Is That I Cant Use The Password Option In Settings. Unless I Was To Disable It Everytime I Used The Phone For More Than A Few Minutes At A Time...
I Have The At And T Tilt With The Shipped Wm6.1 Rom.
this will help
with your backlight problem
It helped me and then-some
I've tried all suggestions (except registry edits) and nothing works for mine! I like to keep my display on for GPS functions, but mine dims whether it's on battery or external power. The link for the cab in the AT&T forum no longer works, so I don't know whether that was similar to the HTC fix (which also doesn't work for me).
Since I have yet to try this, what program should I use to edit my registry? I've never done it, so I don't know what I need to do it. I also noticed someone posted these registry changes in the AT&T forum:
- change HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\ACTimeoutTemp value to your desired AC timeout in seconds. I set mine to 120 (2 min).
- change HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\BatteryTimeoutTemp value to your desired Battery timeout in seconds. I set mine to 60 (1 min).
- change HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\Locklevel\Locklevel to 0xFFFFFFFFF (this may also be just FFFFFFFF is your reg editor allows direct hex entries).
Note: With this change, if you wish to change your dimming timeout, you'll have to go back into the registry and update the settings.
Does this look like it would work? This is driving me absolutely nuts and I am this close to reverting to 6.0, even though my device was shipped with 6.1.
Thanks for the help, everyone.
EDIT: Since my search for this answer brought up too many different variables, I'd wanted to pose the question here, as it pertains to this issue... Will upgrading to a 6.5 ROM solve this backlight issue more simply?

sms not receiving till i turn on screen

hi, i find a lot of the time my sms messages are not coming through till i activate the screen from sleep. it does not happen all the time but a lot. has anyone else had this problem/ know why its happening?
thanks
r u using the 'Disable screen-wake up on new MSG' from the XperiaTweak?
i had the same problem as you before and after i uncheck this from the tweak its seem to solve the issue.
u might like to try this if u r also using the XperiaTweak.
thanks. that solves one problem and makes another one. i will send a message to the tweak guy and see if he can fix it in the next update.
thanks for the help mate
No problem...
So it solve your new MSG issue?
Anyway i just post a reply to nelshh...waiting for his reply....
Shouldn't "Disable screen-wake up on new MSG" disable the new msg screen wake-up? I think the function of this setting is the same that you are referring to as a bug Or am I wrong?
i think the main issue is that maybe some of us interpret this as that when u check this option, it only disable the screen from waking up but the phone would still alert (vibrate/LED flashing) when there a new text message.
So maybe that y we figure it as bug.....my bad....
I am also having the same issue.
I have XperiaTweak installed and have the "disable screen wakeup on enw msg" checked.
Before I hard reset my phone, i had not problems with this function. If i got a new sms, my phone would play its jingle and start flashing its LED's. Now, the phone does absolutely nothing until I hit the power switch to wake up the phone, and only then plays its jingle and flashes its lights. The sms date stamp will tell me that I got the sms a while ago but it just doesn't alert me at the time. Any suggestions?
If you've got the "disable screen wakeup on new msg" option checked, surely that is what it will do? DISABLE the wake up function? So my suggestion would be to uncheck this option.
Also, if the problem persists, it can be sometimes be rectified by a registry fix.
Go to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL and change the value of "DisableSMSWakeUpEvent" to 0.

[Help]Time Problem of My 6.5 Rom

My X1 6.5 rom has some problem on the system time. Sometimes it will be less than the actual time by something like two hours, and this status will last for several hours, then it will come back suddenly. I dont know why....
Does anyone have the same problem with me?
Yes, i have the same problem too. Can't figure out what could possible cause it. Then, after some time, it reverts back to showing the right time. It's very frustrating! Imagine setting an alarm and never get to wake up the next morning just because the system time is messed up...

Yes men but its not normal someone to try calling me 20 times a day and never to be able to call me also not missed call is here and the phone wake up by itself... this things never heppand befor. also the device wake up sometimes in around 2-3 a clock on the night on this time nobody will call me and never someone call me in the last 10 years..
Now i disable everything..
I disable the Actyvesync, all Data like MMS ISP GRPS etc.. also Desable Location Services now will see do the device will wake up..
I think that is posible to wake up if there is abalible some Location services and need to transfer data etc..
Also i do my Operator to be choiced manual to not search for new network and also i set it to GSM mode.. not Auto not Any other just Simple GSM mode..
If after all this the device still wake up.. I don`t know what to do.

Hi there,
I had the same issue from time to time and the phone would wake me up in the middle of the night.
I tried disabeling the data-connection before going to sleep and since then I didn't have the problem anymore.
Maybe this will work 4 u?
Good luck!
OMG i think i need to call Exorcist to chek out my Blackstone
I disable Almost Everything
Disabled: My Location, Active Sync, Auto Search for Network, Toggle All DATA conecctions like GPRS, ISP etc, Disabled
And my Device still WAKE UP by Itself Random when HE want... i can`t understand WHY
You need to look at your problem logically...
Some 'event' is waking up the phone..
This could be a genuine event.... sms / phone call / touch screen / button / wifi discovered etc...
OR it could be a false event caused by some malfunction.... a button that's 'sticky', some software on your phone attempting to create some connection etc...
I would suggest the following to TRY to identify the issue...
1) Reflash your device
2) Do NOT setup any APN / GPRS connection at all
3) Do not configure any weather settings or wifi etc etc
4) Turn ON the airplane mode
5).... wait and see if the problem still exists
If it does, then you DO have some issue
If it doesn't, then turn OFF airplane mode (to connect to your network) but do NOT do anything else...
see if the problem exists... if it does, then it's related to network activity
do the same with Wifi ON...
Then weather ON
then start adding apps etc
Just attack the problem logically...

Thanks for the advice i think to do the same...but the strange thing is that this heppan without reason i mean i was using one ROM for example 2 months and never have problem then one day i saw this heppand... the strange thing is that this heppand without to do diferent setting or install app and i start to wonder why from 2 years i dont have problem like this and right now its just start random to wake up...
I want to ask expert do is posible the device to wake up by Network activity? i mean NOT SMS calls etc.. just my network Operator to do something in the Network that cause my blackstone to wake up by itself?

Freaky thing, but there can be a million reasons (not common though), like your neighbour having installed a new router, some trash of any app you tried and was not completely uninstalled, and so on.
TheBrilliantMistake is absolutely right, that's how I would deal with a problem like that.
Anyway, please post wathever you can find.
Good luck.
I think i found why my device wake up itselfs.. maybe this is was a ROM`s problem i have this wake up in TOPIX 6.5 Sense 2.1 and also in few of the latest NRG ROM`s..
Befor 48 Hrs i flash with the new Kwbr for Touch HD 1.7 its a WM 6.6 Build 21907 with Touch Flo 2.1XXX Manila and now since 48 Hrs the device didn`t wake up by itself..
Im using always the same settings, the same application and etc and till now no Wake Up.. so i think is posible to have something in the ROM that make my device Wake Up by itself.. because like i say i saw this when i flash NEW Nrg ROM... and till this i never drop the device or have any problems with it.

Clock Issue with Energy rom

The issue im speaking of is the actual home screen clock. Every morning I have to re set it because it ends up becoming off by a few hours. I searched this forum and couldnt find anything. I had also posted the question in the Energy rom thread, but it kept getting swamped out by random question. Im running a tilt 2 FYI.
Any help appreciated, thanx

Did you set your time zone? Did you turn on or off internet time sync? Did you uncheck get time from network under phone settings? Any of these could be the cause of your problems...
Im feeling really dumb this morning...My alarm didnt go off this morning because of this same problem. And I cant for the life of me figure out hwo to make sure the clock is auto updating to the network.
Im running Energy Cookie Reference. I have seen the settings before...but cant locate them today.
Time synchronization?
Hi.
Do you have the automatic time synchronization on? Try to disable it.
Settings -> Personal -> Phone ->
or
Sense settings tab -> data services -> internet time sync ->
Hey thanks for the response...my settings are different though. I found the setting in BSB Tweaks and turned it off...only time will tell if it helps though...we will see if my phone fails to wake me up again tomorrow...
Left Energy yet again because of this issue...I dont know a whole lot about the technicalities but it seemed to me that the phone is 'going to sleep' and actually losing track of the time thus keeping my alarm from sounding in the mornings.
When I hit the power button to wake the screen up in the mornings it would be displaying a time that was hours behind and seemingly random (what lead me to believe the phone was in a deeper sleep than normal). Possibly a really stupid theory...but like I said I dont know a whole lot. I just know it was way unacceptable in my case.
I will still monitor his threads like always and try the latest and greatest ROMS.
Clock Issue with Energy romArrow
I think the problem you are having is the windows alarm bug. I used to get this all the time until i started using g-alarm. it fixes the issue when you first install it. (note that its a paid app.) but here is the description and the registry edit that you need to change to fix the problem.
can't post the link soo you will need to copy and paste the url below if you want to view the webpage.
ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/support/manual/limitations
Windows alarm bug
Windows Mobile has on some devices a strange behaviour: Although an alarm is successfully added to the WM notification queue (it's like a scheduler) it doesn't go off.
Searching the web gave me following information:
At midnight WM rebuilds the notification queue, therefore it wakes up for about 15 seconds. If the notification queue is too big or the device too slow WM goes to sleep again before it could finish building the queue for the next day.
If you force WM too stay awake for a longer time, it should successfully build the queue on at least more devices.
If you start G-Alarm and it complains about the Windows alarm bug, you've got the default WM settings (15 seconds WakeUpTime). If you press "Yes" G-Alarm changes it to 120 seconds which should be enough.
Here are the registry values G-Alarm changes:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\ACResumingSuspendTimeout
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts\BattResumingSuspendTimeout
