Can we resize the space dedicated to the Extended Rom? - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

I have upgraded my rom. In the upg. process the stage 2 (extended rom) freezed at 29%. Now I have OS and radio rom but I have no extended rom. However I can verify that about 23,9mb of my storage space ar reserved to the extended rom that doesn't exist. I think the upg freeze because the space of 23,9mb is not enought to the extended rom. In fact the ms.nbf file has more that 25 mb. Do you know if is ther any tool or way to resize the space for extended rom? Thank you

help my imate pda2... my rom is 64... why?

I have bought a pda2 but there is a problem with flashRom size....In device information------>Hardware the flashRom size is 64Mb.....I don't know how it's possible...thanks for your help.
ps. I have read after the Italian version of imate website and i have uncovered that the Italian version has only 64 mb of rom. how it is possible?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you Iranian?.....
The Alpine has 64MB reserved for the OS, Extended rom, radio stack, splash screen and so on which is updated using a PC.
64MB reserved for Storage which you can use to store data.
128MB split between program memory and memory storage, user adjustable.
What you are describing is the official size of the Storage which as standard shows up as less than 60MB by the time it is formatted.

Remove extended ROM for Blueangle device on WM5

Dont need extended ROM on device, anyway to remove pemanently . Not hidden .
you can reize it to 128k, read the wiki (gives the extra space to storage)

Increase OS ROM and reduce EXTROM/STORAGE possible?

Hey, I have just had this idea.
We actually have a single ROM, which is segmented in 3 parts: ROM, EXTROM and STORAGE right?
originally we have 43MB for storage, 26MB for EXTROM and the rest (32MB? not sure) for the OS ROM.
originally, a way has been found out to reduce EXTROM to the minimum of 128KB and add it to storage, giving is a 60MB goodness of space.
The thing is, over time compaction can cause slowness, so it's preferred to use a storage card to manage data and keep internal storage empty, as BAs haev not been designed for WM5 (nor vs. nand and stuff, we know about that).
BUT compaction never messes with our IMGFS in the OS ROM right?
What if instead of adding the EXTROM space to torage we added it to OS ROM?
That would give us +16MB (more, since IMGFS is compressed) of OS ROM to play with.
That's an upgrade from a bacon-and-eggs kitchen to a Cordon Bleu Chef kitchen
Maybe even storage could be reduced to add even more OS ROM space...
OK, I have had the idea, what the ones which actually get their fingers greasy (Tuatara, mamaich, Bepe, Midget, Helmi & co.) have to say? Is it possible?

Htc should make its Diamond shine

With the latest rom upgrade to 1.37 the diamond is much snappier and is much much better than its original rom 1.35.
What is disappointing though is that the diamond comes with only 60Mb free storage for the user as compared to 115-150mb for the kaiser or tytnII(all these devices comes with 256mb rom)
Htc ought to install some of its default programs and files eg opera, music, ringtones and pictures, etc that had occupied space in the rom(storage) into its internal storage which had 4 gig instead of using the precious rom space that had only 256mb thereby freeing the rom storage space for additional programs to be install by the user.
Perhaps some rom developer can make a clean rom and the default programs can be installed into the internal storage as cab files subsequently
If the above is done the diamond will definitely shines.
I am therefore looking forward to using the touch pro as it comes with 512mb rom and therefore I assume that the free rom storage should be adequate for the user to install a lot of additional programs

Where can one get the updated ROM? I just got my diamond a week ago.. its sluggish at times.. freeze's atleast once every other day.. etc.. I am currently running 1.34.831.1 WWE.
Thank you in advance.
according to the htc helpdesk version 1.37 is not much different from 1.35
it is just a new country rom.

Huh? What's the point of that? Why not just install your user apps to the storage? Besides, installing factory-shipped apps in a user-deletable area is a crazy idea.

This will happen. Why you'd want to waste space installing the optional apps into your precious storage space instead of the spare ROM space intended for that purpose I don't know though...

so you get 256MB (probably actually a lot less, they'll install more) more ROM, and that's better how?

Available Memory? Dynamic Page Pool?

Hey all,
I've used several cooked ROMS and noticed that most roms with dynamic page pool have a Total program memory of around 85-89MB, with In use around 30-35mb, and available memory around 50-55MB. I've tried to change pagepool to 18mb and the total memory reduced to only around 80mb...
However when I installed the ATT stock rom without bloatware (using softreset method during customization), the Total mem jumped way up to 101MB, with In use around 27mb, and Available around 74mb. The ATT stock rom is also using a dynamic memory according to pp patcher's analysis.
So why cooked rom have less memory available than a stock rom? Isn't cooked rom suppose to have more available resources than a stock rom?
Thanks for your explanation.
Opera use average over 20mb memory, with any wm 6.1 cooked rom the available memory with opera open is only about 25mb. With att stock rom w/o bloatware I still have 50mb available memory w/opera open...
