I am happy i have WM5 finally working and sweet on my MDA III, but i cannot syn my device with my outlook, or anything. I have tried with Outlook open, it gives me "Support code: 85010014" i have uninstalled and deleted the folder, repaired outlook and i am not using activesync 4.1 and it is still giving th error message. I also have SP2, everything up to date. I have deleted and created new pathnerships, and uninstalled and reinstalled, still getting the same problem. Please any ideas will help. It is not connecting to an exchange server, i have also read around so i decided to post mine.
Activesync and WM5
Activesync under WM5 is different than under WM2003. You didn't indicate how you were trying to sync, I assume via a usb cradle/cable. With WM2003 the syncronization via a usb protocol. For some reason under wm2005, they decided to switch to TCP/IP.
If you look in your PC's network connections with your phone plugged in you will find a window's mobile local area connection. Unplug the cable and the local area connection drops off. The observation is that you now have to allow this connection through whatever firewalls you have setup. This week when ever I had the firewall turn on ActiveSync would not work. I eventually removed and reinstalled Activesync 4.0 (I was on 4.1) and I assume the installation process configured my XP firewall correctly this time around. Check your firewall settings.
Tried it
I only have the windiws firewall, i even disabled the micrisoft antispyware and it still giving me the same error message
Activesync, WM5 and Windows Firewall
Check your Windows Firewall exceptions, I have the following exceptions for the Windows Firewall:
ActiveSync Application (WCESMgr.exe)
Activesync Connection Manager (wcescomm.exe)
Activesync RAPI manager (rapimgr.exe)
Activesync Service (TCP Port 26675)

Actually I believe you will find it needs ports 5678, 5679, 990, 26675, and 5721. Hope that helps
Hi,
I have the same problem too. I just updated to ROM1.60c and ActiveSync 4.1 build 4807. When I try to sync, tt keeps giving me the error code 85010014.
The funny thing is, I have no problems syncing Notes from Outlook. But the other Outlook items like Contacts, Calendar and Tasks are not so lucky.
What's happening? How come only Notes can sync?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Tried it
i have tried it all, it is not working, i have disabled all firewall, something keeps popping up on my pda that it cannot get an ip, i just ignore from reading the wiki. I cannot get MS voice command to work, after install i get an error message, i really want to use WM5, i can do with out voice command, but active sync is very important. i think i will use active sync 3.8 in the mean while see if it works :?
obiesoft,
Are you using OST feature of Outlook? If so, make sure your Outlook client is connected to your Exchange Server during your first sync (i.e. when prompted choose "Connect" not "Work Offline", if not prompted check settings in Control Panel-Mail). Not to be confused with having ActiveSync connect directly to Exchange Server. This solved my problem with 85010014.
Good luck!
i am not using an exchange server, just outlook on a desktop, it syns perfectly on my laptop, so i am trying to find where the problem is. Also, my bluetooth always disconnects, why is this and how can i solve it?
Can i please get more help
Ok, My device synced with my laptop (which connects over wireless to the internet at home). I was happy about this so i copied my pst files from my outlook from desktop to the outlook folder on laptop and it now asks for password to an exchange server??? all this is weird, i just want all my contacts to go in with my calender info. Also the bluetooth is rubbish, it disconnects, any fixes or tricks to keep it up and running? i use HBH 300 headset. Also voice command is installed but when i activate it, it says "voice command ready" and then an error message pops us. I love WM5, but anything to fix these glitches so i can keep using it? Help will be greatly appreciated.
Hmm... sorry, don't have much else to add... might be time to unsinstall and re-install Outlook on your desktop....
Bluetooth
Well i will keep trying with outlook or if worst comes to the worst, enter everything onto my pda by hand. (DAMN).
But besides that, is anyone having problems with bluetooth? mine keeps disconnecting.

I also have the same problem. It has been driving me nutts for 4 days now.
WORKING!!!
I have a desktop which i sync my WM2003 with, but since i upgraded, i have been having problems. Now it is working, but this is what i did, nothing too technical
1. I have a laptop which has most of my downloads and programs i write for school and work.
2. I installed active sync 4.0 on my laptop and synced, it worked, but my data is on my desk top
3. on the desktop i went to C:\Documents and Settings\jiggaman\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook (jiggaman is name of my desktop) and copied the personal data files to the same path on my laptop, then i opened outlook, deleted the dupilcate email accounts and synced, it worked!!
4. It updated my PDA and latop, all this means now is that i have to sync with laptop, not desktop anymore. So if you have another computer, you can try this cause it would not sync for the past 2 weeks with my desktop.
Good luck!
Any ideas on bluetooth? it is still acting up.
Re: Support Code 85010014
Hi there,
I had this problem with a PPC-6700 from Sprint. (EVDO HTC Apache with WM2005) I hacked around a lot, did the repairs, reinstalled ActiveSync, no go. I decided to reinstall Outlook and, for some reason, that did the trick. I also have 2 different versions of Office, Pro 2003 and the Student and Teacher Edition. I think I had problems with installing from the pro cd, but I'm not certain. Not sure if it has something to do with that or not.
I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

Foxnolds! You are a genius! This worked for me just as you described - many thanks! My Wizard will be here in 3 days, but for now I was going mad not being able to get WM5 on my pda2k to sync with Outlook until I tried your solution. Voila!

I'm glad it worked for you also.
I have since chosen to "Delete Mobile Device" from ActiveSync as I did not like the name it had chosen. I then disconnected, went to PDA
Start->Settings->System->About->Device ID
then set it to want I want it to read.
I then connected to ActiveSync and predictably saw the new connection wizard, BUT it warned it could not see Outlook at all! It suggested I install a version of Outlook etc. even though it was visible and running on my desktop!
I connected anyway - Contacts, Tasks, Calendar, Notes options greyed out.
Rebooted PC XP Pro SP2 and now ActiveSync options were available. I enable Syncing of Contacts, Tasks, Calendar and Notes. Resynced and got the dreaded 85010014 error status again!
UnInstalled and Re-Installed Outlook 2003 from the Office Suite but did not reboot PC. ReSynced and this time I get Windows PC: Attention required Error 8503001f
Microsoft ActiveSync said:

Maybe a reboot is required... So I'll post this and see...
I have now found that uninstalling the Outlook component from Office 2003, rebooting then re-installing Outlook component to be effective 90% of the time in curing ActiveSync errors.
To solve the hardest 10%, I have found that I need to update the Windows\system32\MAPI32.DLL which only can be done without Outlook or WCESMgr.exe running. (Use Windows Task Manager to kill them first)
See zip file of the MAPI32.DLL that always works for me, even if the existing version says it's identical (i.e. from Windows Copy Dialog).
I now have two XP SP2 PCs syncing up to WM2003SE XDA II and my WM2005 i-mate Jasjar.
P.S. I found a solution to AvantGo over sized text in WM2005, use Tweaks2K2 .NET version 3.15.0 feature #75-Double Pixeling deactivation for individual programs in VGA Devices.
I now manually sync via WiFi on my Jasjar using "AvantGo Connect" application, like I manually sync WeatherPanel as required as GPRS charges are criminal in this country!
Contacts wont sync on upgraded BlueAngel
I upgraded to WM5 and things are good so far. I had some trouble Syncing with 4.1 on my pc but not with my laptop. The problem now is that I have only been able to get my contacts to sync partially. Ive looked through the posting, but I have not been able to find any solutions. Any one out there know a way around this problem or a solution I should say.
Sysload
I've had no problems to date sending/receiving email with my TyTN and now TyTN II/Kaiser.
However, this morning I discovered that I could no longer do this. Pocket Outlook reports "Error Synchronizing ... check your settings" message almost immediately when I try to send/receive emails.
None of the settings have changed. Just to be sure, I changed "WAP" to "Work" and "The Internet". The last two settings no longer produce an instant error, but the email just says "Connecting..." and then does nothing.
Which makes me ask the question - have Vodafone UK started blocking email? Anyone else having problems? The Internet and other applications can access the net with no problems.
Just tryed vodafone in the netherlands and it works fine.
Which email service?
I would guess its more likely a problem with the mail server.
I have no problems with Vodafone UK and connecting to my company Exchange 2003 server.
Hi freenfast!

I am not successful though.. and have read and searched!
I get an error message - error / support code - 80072ee2
I am wondering if I need some kind of certificate....
I was hoping to find a way to synch with the Exchange Server using,
1. my PC via a cable,
2. my PC via WiFi,
3. via GPRS when I am out and about,
4. via WiFi when I am out and about.
Should I be able to achieve all of these? OR am I expedcting too much !
Any help appreciated!

I believe if you go to https://(your university mail server)/server.cer in your Pocket IE, you will be asked to save the certificate. After you save it, you should be able to access your school's exchange server directly.
Hope it helps,

I have added a screenshot below. The message is
the requested url/server cert was not found on this server !
My servers address for email logon in is http://owa. uni name. co. uk
But I did type https://owa. uni name. co. uk/server.cer in Pocket Explorer !
Ofiaich
hmmm I guess it works differently for servers running Microsoft version of Exchange Server. But I run a Kerio Mail Server that also has this exchange capability, I can simply get the certificate over the air. Let me check if my university gave any instructions on how to download the certificate (it there is any). Let me get back to you as soon as I can.
- TKN
Thanks very much tariq_niazi !
I was told by the university that they do not use certificates but their information setting up a XP Laptop to work with the new server clearly states that you need to "check here" to Vaildate server certificate.
Then there is certificate called GTE CyberTrust Global Root !
As I had typed before, my hope is to be able to do these,
1. my PC via a cable,
2. my PC via WiFi,
3. via GPRS when I am out and about,
4. via WiFi when I am out and about.
Thanks for your time !

My university (Cal Poly Pomona) uses a certificate from Thawte Premium Server CA which is already in my Pocket PC by default. That is why I am able to sync with their servers using SSL. You can check and see if your school uses a SSL certificate that is preinstalled in your device by double clicking on the security icon in your browser when you go to your email login page. There are ways I remember to export a PC version of SSL certificate to Pocket PC certificate using a tool. I cannot remember but if you google around, you should be able to find it. I believe the file format for that SSL certificate for your Pocket PC will be der instead of cer in my case.
Hope it helps,
- TKN

Yes, I just checked tools -> Internet Optons -> Conten -> Cerficates
and sure enough the GTE CyberTrust Global Root is in the tabbed list of Trusted Root Certificates.
There is also an 'export option' which then launchs a wizard.
There are now 3 options for the format to choose
DER Encoded binary x.509 (.CER)
BASE-64 Encoded x.509 (.CER )
Cryptographic Message Syntax Standard PKCS #7 Certificate ( .P7B )
I can then see if I choose, for example, the first one, that I have to name the file, choose a location etc and save it!
I guess I can save all 3 types, then find the directory on my Kaiser to copy them to!
Maybe device/windows/system/certdtls ?
Ofiaich !
Let me know how it goes, I am interested in seeing if this method works or not.
- TKN
I will ! I will post here!
Do you think I am correct with my choice of directory on the Kaiser?
I am search for info on that now.
Tomorrow, I might not post........... busy day... but Wednesday, I will definitely post..
thanks again !
Ofiaich
As far as I know, you should be able to click on the cer or whatever file you got and it will install automatically. That is what happened whenever I downloaded the server.cer file directly from my mail server. I am not sure of placing those files in the folder you have mentioned but it does not hurt trying and see if it works.

Hi!
I got the certificate on my Kaiser now! Thanks! Imported it to the Kaiser through ActiveSynch
Now I have changed the ActiveSynch settings for calendar and mail, so it checks on the server..
I left Contacts Tasks and Notes on the PC,
I would have thought synching would be quick..
now I get the error message - error / support code - 80072ee2
again............ Hmmmm... nearly there....
I have a new question..! Any ideas what a 'device sms address' is ?
Sleep time for me !
Thanks again!
Ofiaich
Hi!
I am still not successfull with this!
I can synch my Kaiser to the PC and synch contacts, calendar, notes, emails etc but still get the error message - error / support code - 80072ee2
I read elsewhere in XDA Developres to turn off the firewall. I know this is not a good idea, but tried it, no luck with synching, so switched it back on again.
I am frustrated that I can only synch when at home with the PC via cable !!
Ofiaich
FIXED
I managed to fix this in the end. Turns out that Vodafone UK were not blocking emails after all
Go to Connections \ Settings and select "Select Networks".
I changed "...connect to the internet should connect..." to "My ISP" and then it all worked.
This has really puzzled me, because I have not installed any software, or changed any other settings. It just stopped working. I had a similar issue with other software getting data from the internet, which again involved changing a setting in Connections.
It's all a ball-ache to be honest, and probably one of the worst things about Windows Mobile.
Hi!
I tried that to see if it sorted my problems too....
But I still get error / support code - 80072ee2
I am sure the university is doing something with their server !!
I am out of ideas....
Ofiaich
Hi!
got the Microsoft Exchange Server working now....
Outlook 2007 PC address on the PC was different to what I should use for synching with the Kaiser...!
Strange but T_r_u_e !
Attachments in Hotmail still do not work, but don't care...! The email throught M.E.S. gives what I need !

Glad to hear it!

Hi,
I have installed a modded WinXP version in my netbook that have many MS default drivers striped.
I'm on vacation and trying to use my Diamond Internet Sharing to access internet...But it ask for a "RDIS" driver i guess and dont recognize the device as a modem.
Do you know where can i find this driver to connect my Diamond as a 3G modem with WinXP?
Thanks a lot...

I think ActiveSync is the only way...
Not according to FinchSync.
FinchSync is a tool for synchronizing contacts, appointments and tasks from Mozilla email and calendar products with a Pocket PC or SmartPhone.
...
ActiveSync is not needed (and not available for Mac OS or Linux anyway), but the Pocket PC must be able to connect to the PC via TCP/IP. This can be done using a WLAN connection for example. If this requirement is fulfilled, synchronization can be done from everywhere, even over the internet. The HTTP protocol is used for the communication between PC and Pocket PC. This should work even in firewall-protected environments.

But does it include the Remote NDIS-driver?
Why don't you email the author ([email protected]) and ask him?
