Hi. I'm new to this and would appreciate any help given.
Device info.
Xda2i
ROM version 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date 01/27/05
Radio 1.00.00
Protocol 1337.39
ExtROM 1.11.169 WWE
Running Windows Mobile 2003 SE
ActiveSync 4.2
Everything was working fantastic for a while then all of a sudden only calendar won't sync w/ my outlook 2003 while everything else does. Did a hard reset and calendar came back. Started reinstalling programs then all of a sudden calendar won't sync again.
Prior to not sync malfunction, this is what I saw: -
In cradle, everything was peachy keen
Pulled O2 off cradle then saw "Calendar initialising" message on the XDA
Schedules that were there suddenl;y disappeared.
Put O2 back in cradle then partnership disappeared
Deleted old partnership
Everything else sync's except Calendar
Calendar under options in ActiveSync (on PC) – does not have a check-box next to it
Having performed the laborious task of hard re-set, delete partnership etc. I have discovered that this problem only seems to occur when the PDA is synced with an active sim card present. If I sync in flight mode then it works fine. Only when I enter SIM PIN to activate sim and then sync, does the problem re-surface.
I noticed that someone else has posted a problem similar to this already (under blue angel) but no replies yet.
Any ideas anyone???????????
Regards
Shaun
I have the same issue it is to do with Blackberry Connect: Here is an Email I got form O2 Support:
Hello,
Thank you for your email,
We are aware that with the new ROM for the XDA 2i which includes Blackberry, you cannot synchronise the calendar via Activesync. We are currently awaiting a fix from the manufacturers of the software, and we shall communicate when this is available.
We are expecting a permanent fix for the problems in the coming weeks, however until then we have an interim which works so long as the device is not soft reset, has battery power, and the BlackBerry software is not stopped/restarted.After the BB service has started (either for the first time or after a reset), do the following:
After the BB service has started (either for the first time or after a reset), do the following:
1) Connect the device to the desktop.
2) Disconnect the device from the desktop. At this point the BB service will disable ActiveSync Calendar and delete the ActiveSync partnership from the device.
3) Start the BlackBerry settings app (Start->Settings->System->BlackBerry).
4) Tap the PIM tab at the bottom of the screen.
5) Tap the Calendar checkbox (to enable it).
6) Tap "OK" to the warning popup message box.
7) Tap "OK" to the "PIM Synchronization" popup message box.
8) Tap the Calendar checkbox again (to disable it).
9) Tap "OK" to the warning popup message box.
10) Tap "OK" to the "PIM Synchronization" popup message box. At this point the Calendar is able to be synchronized again through ActiveSync.
11) Exit the BlackBerry settings application.
12) Reconnect the device to the desktop.
13) Recreate the ActiveSync partnership and enable ActiveSync Calendar synchronization.
NOTE: If the device is soft reset via pressing the stylus in the reset hole, the battery goes flat or the BB service is restarted via pressing the restart button under BB settings, these steps will have to be repeated again.

I had the same problem when I first installed Raspberry. I got the same email from o2 tech support as well. Now syncing the calendar and Raspberry.
Bigballs - cheers for the contact number. Spoke to them and they sorted out the tariff change with a couple of days.
Wow I wish I had read this BEFORE formatting my harddisk to reinstall Outlook and doing another Hard Reset of my XDA IIs. But at least everything works now
Thanks BigBalls

I added one appointment to my calendar today (a repeating event). Now, ActiveSync hangs on "processing" for this app only. If I deselect Calendar in my phone's ActiveSync program, everything else syncs just fine.
I tried deleting that appointment to no avail (it did make it over to Outlook on the PC, so I deleted it there too). I even did a hard reset and restored from a sprite backup I had from earlier: same thing.
I found that I had this same problem when I switched over from PalmOS to WM6, so I purged my last few years of old appointments and was eventually successful. I do sync on two PC's (I won't be at my office PC until tomorrow, so I can't say what will happen there).
Any suggestions?
ActiveSync and Calendar
I'm having the same problem. WM 6.0 and 6.1 would sync fine, but now I'm using jjblaster3's build 28005 (full) 6.5 ROM, I'm getting this infinite 'processing'.
I've reflashed, re-installed ActiveSync, even checked my firewall though I knew it was fine. I had imported all my Facebook friends' birthdays into Outlook (i.e. lots of recurring appts). I have since removed them in Outlook, and still getting the same issue...

Did the "Enable Faster Synchronization" box in the USB to PC configuration get rechecked (it should be unchecked) when you reflashed?
Don't know if this is of any use.....I also have seen this happen numerous times that Active Sync gets jammed and won't download/sync properly.
I usually Press and Hold on the server icon (Menu - Options) and when the menu pops up I select Remove. Close A/S and reopen, tap on configure server and reset ActiveSync up again.
Sorry if this is different to your set up. This is what I have to do if A/S jams. Regards.
For some reason my Tilt's Calender continues to give me multiple reminder announcements even when I dismiss the reminder. In fact, it will stay on the screen until I dismiss it a few times right from the onset of the first reminder. I'm curious if there's a way to delete every calendar entry? I have hundreds and
I just want to clear the entire calendar and re-transfer the events/appointments from Outlook 07 and see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks for any advice!
There is an easy way to delete the whole Pocket Outlook Database (including Calendar, Contacts and ToDos). You just need to delete the pim.vol file. Detailed instructions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369123
If you just want to delete the calendar entries, than I know just one method: Install Pocket Informant (the trial version should suffice). This application provides the possibility to delete all calendar entries at once.
Actually there's another way to do it, I did a search some time back looking for the same solution and found it. Open up your ActiveSync, go to Tools - Options - Server Synchronization. When you choose the items to sync with server, it will ask you whether you want to delete everything off your device before the sync. Use with caution though...
I cannot find the options described as:
ActiveSync, go to Tools - Options - Server Synchronization
I tried opening Sync Center and Windows Mobile Device Center looking for this (Vista). I also looked under ActiveSync on my Tilt. There is no "Tools." Under "Options" there is nothing regarding Server Synchronization.
What now?
Thanks...

civic98 was refering to ActiveSync on a Windows XP machine (since you didn't mention Windows Vista before). In Windows Mobile Device Center the similar setting can be found under "Mobile Device Settings" -> "Change content sync settings" and there uncheck the "Calendar" checkbox. Your phone needs to be connected to the pc of course. HTH
No, I'm referring to your Tilt's Activesync. NOT on the PC...
Hi -- I'm running Vista Business' WMDC on my PC and WM 6.1's (ATT's unreleased, official WM6.1 ROM) ActiveSync on my Tilt. I have the sync set to replace the data on the device, but find that on occasion (mainly calendar items, but contacts, too) are being updated on my PC. Do I have the capability to fully control the direction of the sync? I want to sync only from the PC to the phone, not the phone to the PC, as any changes I make will be done at the PC.
With your phone connected via WMDC go to Mobile Device Settings>Manage a Partnership>PC Settings>choose the "If there is a conflict" dropdown menu and choose replace items on device, save.

That's exactly how I have it set, Alemaker. I've oftentimes dismissed a reminder (I set reminders days or weeks in advance and then change the reminder date as the time/date gets closer) on my Tilt, only to find it also dismissed on my PC, not reminding me at all. Until I find a definite solution, I've gotten into the habit of not dismissing the reminders on the phone. I just want to prevent the phone from doing any updating to the PC.
o.k.
This forum is a great place for issues and you may want to try posting this in the MSFT PPC newsgroups also. they can be found at microsoft.public.pocketpc. I'm sure between here and there, someone has seen this or can offer a solution.
The above setting does just what it says, uses the action you choose in case of conflict i.e same item has been changed on both devices. ActiveSync doesn't have an option to act like you want, so unless there's a hack somewhere there's no way.
I have dutty rom June version installed on my Kaiser. Was syncing with ActiveSync 4.5 just fine before my windows crashed. Did a clean install of windows last week and now synced my Kaiser with my new windows install/activesync and it ERASED all of my contacts in my phone.
I backed up my entire hard drive and was able to retrieve my entire contact list/phone numbers from Outlook of old and restore them to my freshly installed outlook.
NOW when I try to sync CONTACTS in activesync it just goes and goes and goes and nothing happens, never finishes syncing. Those damn arrows just keep spinning.
I tried a full uninstall and reinstall - no dice, I'm just sitting here missing about 50+ contacts on my phone I need for work, an outlook 2007 which contains THEM ALL and no way to get those contacts from outlook on my desktop back to my phone because activesync keeps crashing!
Ideas? Any other way I can do this (like EXPORT the contacts to CSV and IMPORT the CSV file into my phone address book? GRRR
Thanks
never mind - did some more googling and figured out it was ZONE ALARM that was holding me back.
For some reason when I have zone alarm turned to HIGH security level my activesync won't work. I turn it down to MEDIUM and it miraculously works! WTF!
Thanks
When "advanced functionalities" are on in the "USB To PC" settings on the phone, the link will be created as a TCP/IP network connection over USB, and due to high security the firewall will block it.You can look up the IP range the new adapter uses and add that as an exception in the firewall.
that's amazing...
Disabling that advanced functionality worked!
Thanks so much that's great!
Ive been fiddling with the messenger on my diamond, and am having some problems.
It seems to connect ok, but it doesnt show any of my contacts up as online.
Then all of a sudden one contact will come online then go offline again.
And i cant chat at all - it says message could not be delivered.
It seems that my internet connection is not staying active all the time - is there a way to configure it so it does? Or doe anyone else have any ideas?
Im in Australia by the way on the Telstra network.
Thanks
ITs ok, i found the problem....

-------SOLUTION 1
This comes from an HTC Blog with users trying to solve the problem, i'll paste just the comments:
hi, this link for download http://serre.f.free.fr/mobile/pocketpc_WLM.exe for my work fine.
The link above fixed my problem by checking my version and doing a upgrade.
This fixed it for me too. The file is actually an "official" Microsoft signed installer. Not knowing the website, I was a bit hesitant to install it but after running it, I found it was from Microsoft.
Thank you (Obrigado), I had been trying to download a fix from the htc home page with out luck. Your link worked perfectly well.

another alternative this comes directly from HTC site faq section... note that from all their faqs, there is a top ten faqs, and this stuff regarding messenger is at the top of the list of the top ten faq for HTC, this let you all understand how the problem is big and common (for those who use messenger for business).
"
When I use Windows Live Messenger, I cannot see any friends online.
First of all, please make sure that the clock's Home setting is correctly set to the date and time of your area. Then, make the Visiting area's date and time setting the same as the Home setting. When you are online in Windows Live Messenger, do the following: 1. Tap Menu > Change appearance. 2. Tap Menu > Account options. 3. Tap Switch account and login again."

Last there is another update file that comes directly from microsoft support center

------SOLUTION 4
Other people says that you have to delete all your contacts on the phone, storing them online on the sim, and then you have to switch your messenger account and reconnect.

-----SOLUTION 5
Well. I have the same issue. I discovered that problem is related to a conflict with another application I had installed; GoodLink service.

--------SOLUTION 6
this comes directly from a microsoft email for a user who asked how to solve the problem:
A. Re-synchronize your account.
You may need to reset your Windows Live account on your Windows Mobile-powered device by signing out and signing in again. To sign out, please refer to these instructions:
1. On your mobile device, tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
2. Tap "Menu" and then "Account Options."
3. Tap "Switch account."
4. You will be prompted to confirm account switching as this action will sign you out of Windows Live, preventing you from seeing your e-mail inbox. Tap "Yes" to continue.
5. You shall be redirected to the Terms of Use screen, an indication that you are already signed out of Windows Live.
To sign back in and re-synchronize your account:
1. Tap "Start" and then select "Windows Live."
3. Tap "Sign in to Windows Live."
4. Tap "Accept" on the Windows Live Terms of Use screen.
5. Enter your MSN or Hotmail e-mail address and its corresponding password.
6. Tap "Next."
7. Choose if you wish to have the Live Search bar or Windows Live services on your device's "Today" screen and tap "Next."
8. Choose if you wish to sync either Contacts and Messenger contact or e-mail (or both) with your mobile device then tap "Next" to continue.
9. Wait as your mobile device syncs with your Windows Live account. Tap "Done" when sync is complete.
10. Open Windows Live and check if you are now able to synchronize your account.
B. Verify the size and amount of folders in the inbox.
Please check if the contents are not too large. You may try to delete or archive some of your e-mails and see if this resolves the problem. Due to the carrier, signal strength and mailbox size, there appears to be a limitation.
C. Set up a new Windows Live account and try to reproduce the issue.
We would like to determine whether you are unable to synchronize Hotmail folders due to specific folder structure or contents by attempting synchronization again with empty or unaltered folders.
D. Install a hotfix.
You may also try fixing the problem by installing a hotfix found in this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/943824/en-us
The hotfix is originally intended for Windows Live Messenger (for Windows Mobile 6) contacts issues but there have been customers who were able to resolve Hotmail synchronization problems by installing the hotfix in their Windows Mobile devices.
E. Empty or re-arrange the contents of the inbox.
Try to remove all items from the inbox, delete them or place them in a folder that does not synchronize and try again. If other folders are enabled for synchronization, you will need to do the same with those folders as well or else disable synchronization for all folders except the inbox.
The steps above should help you fix this problem. If the issue persists, we want to continue assisting you until this is resolved. In order to investigate this further, please reply with the following information:
- What is the complete name and version of your mobile device?
- Do you have a Windows Mobile 6 or Windows Mobile 5 OS (Operating System) on your phone?
- Who is your carrier and where are you located?
- What is the MSN or Hotmail account that is experiencing this contacts issue?
- Does the same thing happen if you sign in to a different Hotmail account?
- What is the exact version of the Windows Live application on your device?
To get the version of your Windows Live application, please do the following:
1. On a Windows Mobile device, tap on "Start", and then select "Windows Live."
2. Once the Windows Live application opens, tap on the "Menu" (found at the bottom-right side) and the select "About."
You will be prompted with information similar to this:
Windows Live for Windows Mobile
Version:
10.6.0026.1400
Microsoft
We appreciate your continued support as we strive to provide you with the highest quality service available. Thank you for using Windows Live Mobile.

I have other "problem" regards to Windows Live.
Generaly it's working, but only with UINTERNET connection, and only if I define UINTERNET in the second connection in setting>>connection>>Connection.
It always connect to UINTERNET (or as define in the second connection)
but never to the main connection even while using WiFi..
I didn't find any setting to change this lame connection for Windows Live , Any idea ?
I think (I m not sure) due it trying to sync , so it needs "my work network" , but in fact
I sync to regular Outlook at work (Push mail) , and I need the Windows Live just for Messenger, and I don't need the email account (hotmail) to sync at all...( it in manual instead auto)
