this post talks about how to do the change on a Blue Angel, how do we do this with a Wizard? It has a similiar registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight) just no file called "QKeyLedTimeout" in there, is it located somewhere else in the wizard? Mad Monkey Boy has this same thing posted on his tips site but again there is no "QKeyLedTimeout" in my registry. This keyboard timeout after 5 seconds or whatever is driving me crazy!

I read on a wm5 review somewhere that the os includes a special keylock option that shows up at the same place as the bluetooth icon on the today screen, that would make the ppc work like a phone, i.e. no key can be pressed when the ppc is on or off unless a combination of keys are pressed. I can't find it in the ba wm5 rom and i'm wondering if anyone found it, or is able to get it in a cab or something. Thanks
How do I lock the buttons?
I just upgraded to WM 5, and now can't seem to find how to lock the buttons when I switch off the device, as a result of which my XDA keeps turning on whenever I accidently hit a button. Anyone knows better?
Found the answer!!
Ok folks, I found the answer. It's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27614&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
Mamaich has answered it as follows:
"I'll copy here the other my post.
The main reason for battery draining in my case was that buttons are not locked when the phone is turned off. So it constantly turns on when it is in pocket. To fix this - take following files from 1.40 ROM:
Backlight.exe
ButtonLock.exe
CSDType.exe
DIM.exe
Keyboard.exe
MicrophoneAGC.exe
WLanMgr.exe
MyCPL.cpl
and copy to \Windows folder on your device. Windows would cry that files are unsigned - say "yes", then reboot. You'll be able to turn keyboard backlight off, lock buttons, change GPRS class, but you cannot change brightness. The sliders are ignored. They are ignored even if you'll take driver from the WM2003 OS.

Many thanks Mamaich!!
O2 Battery Plugin
O2 Date and time Plugin
I know it's been done before but I thought I'd place these two in one place for you all. I've amended them so that the O2 installer ****e doesn't appear when installed.
firstly, does it work good on wm5 in true vga mode
secondly, can u put up some screen shots?
thanks
Firstly I don't know as I only have an Alpine.
Secondly I haven't got the software at the moment to get screen shots.
Sorry about that, I'll try get the screenshots but hopefully someone will get them up here.
All they are are the standard Alpine Indicators from the O2 Active.
here the screen shot....
Cheers Clustered, can always count on you.
you're welcome
it will be nice if you can add AM/PM too at the clock. just some idea..
All I did was rip them from the O2 Active interface supplied by O2. I had nothing to do with creating it. I'm not that good.
I wish somebody -would- create their own, though.. I have an open bounty of $75 in another thread for one.
This one seems to have some issues...
- it doesn't seem to adhere to the font size set. Which means that all my Today screen items would be in 'small', whereas this one appears in 'regular'.
- No separate formatting of the date string from the system string.
- No separate formatting of the time string, not even from the system string. "STFmt = HH:mm t" shows the A/P indicator in the task bar, but not in the Today Sceen item.
- No seconds display (as requested by another forum post)
Also, I noticed that my taskbar clock was gone after a soft reset after installing. Looks like it resets HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\TBOpt to 0 (zero): no date/time. Mine's normally 3: date and time. Naughty.

*counter deleted*
Sorry about that, shouldn't have gone off on one. I was in the wrong there. Bit of a bad mood and shouldn't have taken it out on you. Looking back I don't even know what I was on about. as a sign of good faith i have deleted that post.
No worries - I know the feeling My post also zapped, and zapped the bit in my original post, as it didn't deal with actual issues with the workings of the software itself, which is far more important.

How do you make the Wireless Today plugin selectable where it will bring up the comm manager when selected?
Thanks...
-Mc
I think it only does that if you're on a turd slow... errr.. Crossbow... OS. I don't know of a way to make it do it in WM5. If there is a way I'd like to know too.
I'm using Crossbow on my Wizard. Doesn't activate Comm Mgr though I made it selectable (in reg only).
They got it working in the AKU 3.3 ROM. I think it's also working in the SuperROM.
Is it using the netui.dll from another device? I've read a whole lot of posts and the exact same settings in the registry gives different results on different devices.

p.s. fellow Illinois-an here. Will be in your neck of the woods on Friday. Small world.
p.s.s. Go BEARS!!!
It's easy. just need modify registry
HKLM/CONTROLPANEL/wrlsmgr
New string "Redirect", make the value any program you like, such as
Redirect = "\windows\commmanager.exe" will open the commmanager.exe when you tap it.
that did it! You rock!
Thanks man...
I'm still doing something wrong. I can't select it with the D-Pad, just the touch screen.

make a DWORD key called
"Selectabilty" (without quotes) and set it to 2
Hi all,
I've got one of the lovely shiny Vario III's and am very happy with it.
I do have one issue though. When I go to Start->Programs, all the programs are listed in what appears to be a random order - possibly by date.
I remember seeing a post somewhere on here about how to change the view mode of the programs folder but I think that might have been a program by someone.
Does anyone know of a way to make it sort the programs by Name?
I'd like to know this too. After using HTCs WM6 on my Vario ii, the Programs folder in the T-Mobile wm6 ROM on my Vario iii is, quite frankly, a mess. I have deleted some unwanted icons from the windows/startmenu folder etc but don't seem to be able to re-order them.
I found VJSmallIconsII after remembering who wrote it. You can get it from his site: http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJSmallIconsII
The only problem is that you have to run it after every soft reset. Change the programs view mode to details, then click the Name column, then change it back to Icons mode.
I would imagine this is something which is stored in the rom and not a reg tweak but I'm going to PM vijay to see if he has a more permanent solution.
Anyone have the problem where when you select a contact and then text it takes 2-5 seconds to load the screen with the cursor? And the cursor itself is pretty slow to get input from the keyboard.
I'm pretty sure my keyboard itself needs cleaning as I've seen in other threads. However in Win 6.1 and now 6.5 with autocomplete of sentences on or off I still see the huge delay before I can type. Something feels wrong about this, anyone else experience this and have any advice?
usually turning off any autocomplete or t9 should speed up typing delay
well - stuff like that happens in Windows Mobile
theres a registry cab file somewhere here that fixes this.. do a search
Hmm yeah I have text correction set to None so no prediction or sugesstion.
I'm running windows mobile 6.5 is there anywhere else I could go.
Just counted now and from the time the screen acknowledge my click on text to the white screen and cursor loading is 7 seconds. My god windows mobile grrrr!
Everything else on the phone is pretty fast but wow 7 seconds!
royalbloodvi - I replied this morning before seeing your reply.
I've looked for cabs, registry tweak etc searching here and on google and I haven't had any luck. I've tried w/o quotes stuff like "SMS slow registry tweak" "txt slow" etc etc but no luck any pointers?

LOL. You're a funny man... telling him to "do a search" after all those ****worthy threads You've started.
anyway...
I don't know if it's going to work for You mate, but worked like a charm on my tytn 2 back in the past.
Hey, not sure if you tried this, but there's also a cab, or registry hack which disables the text "counter" in sms which also decreases the delay.
Here's there XDA thread which links to the original posting at ppcgeeks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581901
I have it cooked into my rom and it does help. I don't even miss the counter cause everyone I know either has unlimited text, or doesn't text at all.
Also, whenever you want to send a text make sure your Xperia is in landscape before going into the sms program or hitting reply. It helps a bit there too.
hope all that helps.
peace

yea thats the one..
Thanks I ran the cab and followed the directions about thread_sms.htm
All I saw in thread_sms.htm was <Inbox:ComposeBodyCount> which I assume is not the count of characters and my unexperia rom already removed that.
Having it in landscape mode prior to clicking someone's name definitely helps although first time I do it there's still some 5 secs or so of delay. But if I go back to another contact there's none. I'll keep playing a bit but thanks much better.
Day by day I will actually make my phone usable!
Edit: Also it's great how original X1 users have to wait and use cooked roms to get features from X2 to actually make the X1 "ok"
