Well, one piece of information that could fix this whole problem is the spl. What spl do you have?
spl
I'm useing spl 1.33.2005 , I think it is danger spl.
I think that rom supports ext4 but if it was me, I would try re-partitioning and stopping at ext3. Just a thought. Also I would check the md5 check sum for the download or just re-download. Good luck.
tried
I tried the ext3 and I still get the error for some reason And I know Im a noob but what is MD5
wut size is ur swap partition >?
partition
Fat32 is 512 and swap is 96
I haven't been able to find a guide of sorts for changing from Cyanogen 4.2.14.1 to a stable version of Super D. I know from searching that it requires the Danger SPL, which I do not have currently. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it Please don't flame me
Flash the radio in my sig. Then Haykuro's SPL in my sig.
The End.
Saw you already have the newest radio, just flash the spl then a rom if you are sure of the radio version.
radio and spl are most important and always make sure u do the radio first
Thanks for your replies! So, I assume I can flash both of these using Cyan's Recovery and 'apply any zip from sd card', etc or do I need to flash another recovery instead of cyan's. Do I have to wipe the device first or can I simply flash both of these followed by Super D? Also, I see in reading that some say to wipe my ext. I don't see that as an option in Cyan's Recovery. How would I go about that and if I do it, will I lose everything on my sd card? Right now I have a fat32, ext2, and linux-swap as my partitions.
The guide is in the Super D thread.
Ok, in reading...this is what I plan to do:
Download recovery-RA-dream-v1.5.2.img and rename to recovery.img
Download ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip
Download Danger SPL spl-signed.zip
Flash RA recovery, reboot
[Alt+W] Wipe
[Alt+2] Wipe SD:ext partition : Wipe the ext partition on your sdcard
Flash ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip
Flash spl-signed.zip
Flash Super D
1. Have I missed any steps?
2. If I Wipe SD ext partition, will I lose all the data on my SD Card??? Also, will it mean I have to repartition it?
Thanks!
Wiping ext will only delete the files on the ext partition, not the fat32. It also doesn't remove the partition, only the data.
You don't need to flash the radio again if the information in your sig is correct. (verify in about phone in settings)
I'm pretty sure you have to choose flash update.zip for the spl to flash properly. Remember, flashing the SPL deletes all the data from your phone so if you forget to boot into recovery after flashing it it will appear stuck at the G1 screen because there are no boot files yet.
Thanks evilkorn!! Ok. I just finished flashing the new RA Recovery and it went like butter. I reverified my radio and it's good to go. So, here are my final questions.
Before flashing the danger spl, do I have to wipe? Or can I skip it?
Based on your instructions, I will will rename the Danger SPL spl-signed.zip to "update.zip" and flash it from recovery.
Can I just remain in console at that point and flash Super D then do the final boot so I don't get stuck at the G1 screen?
I want to flash this 2.3.3 OTA rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=714184
Is this rom support App2Ext ?
What should I do if I want to use App2Ext with this rom ?
Try flashing this instead. It already has app2ext support built-in, you just need to create a ext3 partition on your sd card.
To your original questions: if you want to flash that ROM - yes, it supports A2SD, and you'll need to flash DarkTremor's A2SD right after the ROM to enable A2SD.
Hi folks,
I have been using G1 for 6-7 months and had never faced this frigging problem ...i think it all started when i tried to flash an HTC sense ROM!! I did all the things as instructed for flashing, but it dint work.. Then i reverted to Gingerbread(version-2.3.4) which i was using before. Though the ROM worked i was sickened to see my internal storage memory as it had only 17.75MB left!!! . My phone has now Total space just 17.75MB out of which the available space is only 6.70MB!! .. Here is a screenshot of my phone storage-
While flashing a swap size of 32 was kept and sd-ext was given 512MB
Any idea how to recover from this frigging problem?????
thanx...
Remove cMTD ...
Flash the following File, reboot into fastboot, do a "fastboot erase system -w" and reinstall your ROM. This should help ...
Thnx for that quick reply.. .. by 'fastboot' did you mean 'recovery mode'.. I flashed the file and then manually wiped all the data's,dalvik-cahce and other things.. is that enough?
@ AndDiSa It worked .. that was frigging awesome man!! thanx a lot.. now i have 92MB free.. can you please explain me what the problem really was?
haha your problem was that you flashed a custom MTD partition (most likely 145 2) on your device for that sense rom.. but when you do that you need to flash fr-boot after you flash any other rom while you still have that partition.. but since you went back to a diff rom you thought you didnt need the fr-boot lol, so your phone didnt have the correct amount of mb..
When you wipe your data and all that it does NOT remove the custom mtd... thats why you needed to flash the FR-Remove file!! to remove the MTD partition... which basically put your device back how it was when first rooted... 90 2 ... thats the stock partition size for a g1
So long story short your device will be fine and you can re try to flash that sense rom or do anything you want... just be sure to remove a custom mtd if you flashed one for a rom... and plan to change roms.. unless you switch to a rom that also needs a mtd partition.. than you dont have to flash remove.. just flash the boot file after flashing rom. lol sorry if that was confusing..

... that was very confusing.
The base you explained correctly: There was still installed the cMTD patch which gave you a custom partition layout with a big /system partition, but a very small /data partition.
This partition layout is defined by boot img parameters, as in recovery, as for the ROM. Most new ROMs (especially GB-ROMs) detect cMTD automatically, i.e. it's sufficent to patch the recovery image while the boot image is patched automatically when installing the ROM.
When you switch between ROMs the partition layout will be kept, as it was for you when you switched back to the "old" GB-ROM. To return to the "standard" layout (which is defined by the SPL you have installed on your phone), you either have to flash a "clean" recovery, or to remove the cMTD layout with the file I gave you.
If you are more interested in cMTD, in my signature you can find a link to the appropriate thread ...

Hi all,
my fist post on xda and a noob as well with my first android.
I had someone do my first root and put GEOs rom, as i wanted close to stock to learn android some more, I now want to jump on your rom. the A2SD version
so I try to partition SD card for A2SD+ through clockwork. Then download your rom. By rom manager.
before flashing rom phone info shows (android version 2.3.3 GRI40) and then after flash showing (android version 2.3.3 GRI40) ?
how can my phone be the same rom version pre & post flash with out doing nand back-up?
as that must mean I must have screwed up after flash ?
do I flash this as well ? GRJ22 system dump (boot.img/system.img):
if I do do I flash rom first or system dump first ?
as well not positive when partition SD card for A2SD+ through clockwork that it did partition sd card right way?
I am noob to use ADB and prompt commands and my micro sd slot on comp is not working
is there android app to partition SD card and or check if partition worked on sd card ?
sorry for long post
can anybody help
PS I am trying to flash this rom
[ROM] [GRJ22] N1 2.3.4 OTA ROM v5 (deodex, root, zipalign, busybox, A2SD, TBAlert

If the custom ROM you flashed is base on the same Android version than it's still gonna be the same Android version.
What does the "MOD version" say?
You can partition SD card using CWM or Amon Ra recovery. This is not an app, it's your custom recovery. If I'm reading it right you already have CWM recovery.

I am on GEOs rom Gingerbread 2.3.3 (GRI40)
and i want to flash this Gingerbread 2.3.4 [GRJ22] the App2SD one from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13430563&postcount=1
I went in to recovery to CW via rom manager and then run partition tool in
recovery, but when trying to DL a APP that needs sd card to be partitioned
it fails to run. saying sd card must be partitioned first.
so I take it CWM recovery failed to partition my sd card and I cant figer out how I my rom version stayed the same after coming out of flash ? with out having to do a droid back-up if I screwed up the flah process? afrer trying to flash a 2.3.4 rom. that is App2SD supported rom.
If you were trying to flash another ROM and it fail to flash for whatever reason, than you're still running your
current ROM. That's why when you left cwm and booted up, it just went back to whatever you had already.
Basically it never got to a point of writing anything, it did some check and found you didn't have correct partition
so it probably aborted.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
ok but status bar in recovery did its thing for around 5 minutes with no error message. So I take it CM recovery cannot partition SD card properly ?
is there away around it besides CW recovery and command promts via sdk on pc. like a APP?
or even a APP to check if CW is Partitioning sd card Properly ?
thanks for the help
ClockworkMod recovery should be able to partition your card without an issue. When doing it, it will wipe your card, so make sure everything is backed up. Pay attention to what is on the screen when you do this. It will show you any error messages that may occur. So, if you didn't see any error messages, your card should be partitioned. Same goes for when you flash. It should show you why it didn't flash (assuming it didn't).
You can use minitool partition wizard on your PC and it will preserve your data without wiping it out like Gparted/Unbutu.
To check your partitions download terminal from market or use adb and type
Su
Busybox df -h
It will show partitions fat, ext and swap sizes.

I will give it a go tonight.
I had problems partitioning my SD card with CWM or rom manager... Installed Amon Ra recovery and first time I tried partitions were set
