Does anyone have or know of a place where I can find a zip file containing the cabs that are in the new QTek ROM? I skipped customization, but want to install some of the CABs. Thanks.

Welp..you could install total commander, then browse to your extended ROM, and install the cabs you want from there.
In total commander, just input "\Extended_Rom" in the path bar at the top.

I have succesfully updated my PDA2k from the standard ITalian ROM to the one in my signature
I'm very happy and I would like to thanks All for the support
Now I would like to cook my first Extended ROM and I have a very simple question but, I have not been able to find the answen in the wiki
The Extende ROM I have now doesn't contains the Config.txt file but the Setup.exe.
During the cooking process. Should I take out the .exe file and substitute it with my oun Confing.txt?
Thanks
Asmodeo
There is a rason for that.
In some roms that have gone through the kitchen 1.3x we have noticed that the autorun, config.txt has been subsitutted by a new methord setup.exe.

What you need to do is downlaod an old version Ext rom which has the autorun, confix txt.
Extract those files 2 files, delete the setup.exe and add the autorun, config txt to your ext rom (oh yes and dont forget to edit the config.txt)
The one I use is in the imate 1.22 162 and found on wiki

Hi,
I've read through the WiKi on the extended ROM on the blue angel, and i think i have a basic understanding of how it works now.
I have several CAB files (Microsoft .NET framework CAB files, and some of my own). Would i be right in saying that to put these into my Extened ROM all i have to do is...
- Unlock The Extended ROM folder on my blue angel
- Paste in the CAB files
- Edit the config file to add my CAB files to the execute list.
- ReLock Extended ROM
Would that work? If i were to create this extended ROM arranngement would it be possible to install it on several XDA IIs so that they would always automatically reinstall my program upon a hard reset? I was also wondering if it would be possible to customise things like the splash screen, menus, and hardware button settings within the Extended ROM?
I hope that wasnt to much of a long question!! Any ideas or thoughts would be great!
Many Thanks
James.
but also remember there is a limitation on the rom max of file size is 16MB.
happy cooking
I made my own Extended Rom with a few CAB files I created, but when I do a hard-reset and let the Customization Tools do their job it looks like none of the CAB files is installed?
I'm sure my Extended Rom is build correct (I used Faria's how-to for it), but it looks like the Registry changes that's in my CAB files are not kept in the Registry because after installing the Extended Rom it resets immediately. Can this be true? Or do I need to hardcode the installpaths in my CAB files maybe?
Regards,
Molski
Already found the answer.
I added the Default_Signed_Disable_Security.CAB to the Extended Rom (as 1st file to install) and after that it worked.
Actually very logic, my CABS were not installed because they're not signed so had to disable that security first.

thats correct my friend.sorry a did not post sooner.
as for custom registry settings if u put them into a cab file, make sure it is the last file to be installed in the extendedrom setup.

Hay Faria,
It doesn't matter that you didn't post a reply sooner, look at the time difference between my question and my answer, it is not even a hour after each other
But why do I have to do the Registry cabs at last in the Extended Rom? Because a few files I use got Registry changes in it.
Regards,
Molski
hi
i meant registry hacks like perrfomance tweaks etc,not the ones in the programs that u are going to install.
reason?
i find out that some programs have a habit of modefing registry keys specially the ones homemade ,so if you install such cab file it is best to leave last.
cab file
Hello guys,
I started playing with my k-jam and i have to admit i'm really happy with your advises. I'm facing the same problem now, the cab files in my "cooked" ExtROM don't install. I belive i need that cab file to disable the certificate security. Could you tell me from where to get it?
Thanx a lot!
Is there a way that I can extract a .CAB file of the custom ringtones that Summiter had in his ealrier ROMS, or does anyone have this already?
Extracting from ROM
Use Total Commander. Open /Extended_Rom/ and save the file to a location like your minisd.
I tried doing this with the tmobile custom rom and it wouldnt let me do anything to the cabs in the extended rom. Any ideas why?

The extended rom under AKU 2+ is locked by the operating system... if you want a custom one for yourself, you'll have to cook one yourself...
Thanks for the info, but I'd rather stay away from cooking one for awhile
Using total commander, if you navigate to the extended rom, you can make a copy of it, say on the sd card. Then you can run it separately. This is what I do, and the list from T-Mobile's 2.26 is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=272613
Alternately, I have posted a copy of the cabs:

Dude you are the man I will check it out in a bit.

Extended ROM purpose is explained in wikis
Visbile ext rom isn't same as unlocked ext rom
Bootloaders above 1.05 do not allow to touch the extended rom in normal phone operation as it corrupts the FAT (file allocation table of that partition).
The best one can do is to flash an ext rom already built (10MB file) to it via RUU or RAPI utils (WST)

Where can I find some? I did a search and could not find the roms
Just grab any extended rom from any wizard rom then open it with WinImage. Delete what you hate add what you love then edit config.txt. Use nb2nbf.exe to add your extended rom so that it can be flashed.
?
Does every Rom Have an extended rom? If I have a nk.nbf rom file is that the file I open or is the extended rom a seperat rom that is not included in any rom.
I have files in my extended rom that were all related to T-mobile but it is a Cingular phone. I Figure these must have been put by another rom. I did a forms search for "Extended ROM" and got 20 pages of hits. Could you help point me in the right direction.
