I know this is a really simple question, but how can I tell for sure?
I ran the aWizard e, then u, then b processes, and it looked like it worked right except I can't see the back-up anywhere.....so now I am unsure and don't want to kill my phone.
Anyone? Someone? Is there NO way to be certain your phone is CID unlocked, is that it?

In my humble opinion you only can tell if it is unlocked when an upgrade of the rom will start.
If it is locked you get a message that you can't flash
Run bootloader, run mtty, type 'info 2'. If you get SuperCID or 11111111 - you device is unlocked.

Hey,
I was wondering if it was possible to undo the changes I made in Lokiwiz and actually "lock" my phone. I have never SIM unlocked it.
Thanks!

Ya run the same tool again and select lock, not unlock!!!
can the CID-unlock also be relocked?
Hello,
I understand the fact that you can put the SIM-lock back again. But is there any posibility that also a CID-unlock can be locked again? My wizzard resets sometimes by himself so I have to send it for repair so now I need to know if I can put a CID-lock back on. Does anyone have an idea?
Tim
The answer is in the second post in this thread, right above yours.
when you CID unlock or SIM unlock your device, you're asked to backup your original lock files.Try to run Lokiwiiz again and restore your backup files.
Just out of curiosity:
If I buy unlock code from say IMEI Check and CID unlock my device, would I ever need to run Hard SPL or Soft SPL to upgrade/downgrade my Trinity? Then going forward, can I just run any custom/cooked/original ROMs without worrying (since my device is permanently unlocked)? Please don't ask me why I want to pay for this when there are so many free alternatives - I don't know the answer
Last but not least, which method of unlocking preserves the warranty? Can the device be locked back just in case I need to take it to service?
Thank you! (I know these qns have been answered many times in this forum, but I just want to reassure myself that I got it all correctly)
As far as I know, IMEI-Check will completely unlock the device, allowing ROM upgrading etc without the need for additional hard SPL or softSPL.
Unlocking in itself doesn't affect the warranty, so you could simply use IMEI check to unlock for use of another SIM card. Further than that, flashing a new, unofficial Radio or OS ROM will technically invalidate the warranty. Most of the free unlockers actually work by flashing the Radio ROM, so in that case IMEI Check is safer as it retains the original ROM.
Once unlocked, there is no way to relock a device, but as long as you have the Operators own ROM in place, the lock status won't be looked at.

Yes, you'll also need to use SSPL / HardSPL if you plan to flash cooked roms (unsigned) in NBH format using the RUU updater.
You'll not need to use SSPL / HardSPL if you plan to flash shipped official ROMs (signed) using the RUU updater or if you you extract the *.nb files from the NBH upgrade and flash from mtty using LNB command in imei-check's MFG bootloader (which doesn't check signatures). You won't be able to flash unsigned code with the standard RUU Updater or SD card using imei-check's bootloader.

Original roms yes, you can flash them without worrying, but you'll have to re-run imei-check's unlocker everytime you want to flash your device with an original rom not matching your CID as CID unlock is not permanent (it disappears when you flash the radio).
As for custom/cooked roms, no, you'll have to worry about a) using HardSPL/SSPL or extracting the *.nb from NBH and flash from mtty, as it's the only way to flash unsigned code with imei-check's bootloader.

- imei check, as long as you replace the bootloader with a standard one before returning your device
- free unlocker, as long as you don't check the "superCID" option when you run it and you flash a standard radio back into it after SIM unlocking.

Depending on why you have to take it to service, but basically yes if it's working.

It will SIM unlock, but the CID unlock will only stay as long as you don't replace the RADIO after unlocking. If you flash another radio, then you'll need to re-run imei-check's unlocker again to have it CID unlocked again. And remember that for flashing a cooked rom you don't just need a CID unlocked device, but also need to bypass signature checking.

But it replaces the SPL on the device by a 1.01MFG SPL, so the warranty is technically void. And it also modifies the radio, but keeps the existing version.

i have a g3 wizard(dopod 838) at ipl/spl at 2.21.and so i thought its ok to flash Blackdiamond 3.1 at 2.XX.The whole process kept stuck at 99%.The wizard now only enters the bootloader screen.
then i read a guide that i need to flash t-mobile 2.26 first,my bad.Ok,downloaded it and tried to flash it, then i got the "ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID"
cant flash to 2.26 and the ruu for bd kept stuck at 99% still.
im stuck here and kinda confused. How do i fix this?
and if its ok can any1 suggest me a rom with touchflo which is kinda lightweight or simple?
thanx in advance guys
to start off with the easy ?'s first...
was your wizard cid unlocked before you attempted to flash?
are you able to hard reset?
yep its cid unlocked coz i've used two diff telco on it.
previously on wm5 i can hard reset

CID and SIM unlocked are not the same thing. Just because you've used a different Telco (ie: SIM) means you are SIM unlocked. To flash a rom from a different Carrier or the custom roms found here, you have to be CID unlocked. Please see the How to Flash post that is stickied at the top of this forum and follow every single step.
oic.
im pretty sure its cid unlocked coz theres no carrier id such as cingular,at&t n such on it.n no carrier specific apps previously.
this theory makes sense rite?

Just CID unlock it and quit guessing. The fact you got an invalid Vendor ID (stated in your first post) means you are still Carrier Locked. I'm trying to help, but if you think you know better, then feel free to go on your own. If you keep guessing and doing things like this, you are going to brick your phone. Either go back to the official rom that came with your phone, or follow the instructions THAT WILL WORK IF YOU DO EVERY STEP.
ok.ill do all the steps.thanks.
Simply to say, Hard SPL your device. That unlocks CID (country ID)

Carty..
I just installed the Supercid and I wanted to make sure I have it installed properly. where can I check it? the reason I am asking, because instruction stated I should see the unlockcode on your monitor and your Kaiser is being restarted automatically. I do not see the unlockcode and device did not restart, but it that give me this message.

[] Your device is unlocked and you can change anything anytime
[] Don't forget to flash your original radio

Please advise. Thanks in advance

To verify security unlock, you can check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2580429&postcount=198
To test sim unlock use this command with ATCommander:
Code:
Enter into ATCommander:
[B][email protected]?40[/B] ---> check phone sim lock
Results
[B]@SIMLOCK= 00[/B] ---> means phone is unlocked
[B]@SIMLOCK= 01[/B] ---> means phone is locked
I can't remeber where to test CID unlock. If the above 2 are true, your probably OK.

Depending on what Unlocker you use. Boot into Bootloader, (Press the Camera Key all the way in and Press your Stylus into the Reset Hole.)
Then Check at the top that it says "Security Unlocked"

I know that !
In the link I posted there's a AT command to test for "security unlock".
I can't however remeber how to check if the CID lock is on or not, I suppose it depends on the SPL, Hard SPL's wont have a CID check, OEM ones will.

OP- Search and ye shall find the answer to almost any question you can come up with. They have all been asked already.
Thanks everyone for your respond. The only thing that worry me is, I didn't see the unlockcode and the device didn't restart on it own like the instruction said. This is the tool I used, Kaiser-SuperCID-tool. This info from the bootloader screen.
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.oliPof
CPLD-8
Thanks

Be aware of your SPL version. It will probably need to be updated. Search for JockeySPL for the expert advice. I think all 6.1 ROMs need to be version 3.xx SPL. Anyway, search it out to avoid issues. Sounds like you are on your way to ROM goodness.

Flash and SPL from here if you are using WM6.1.
The ROM chef normally suggests the exact version. Anything 3.* will be OK.

mak,
Sorry to bring up such an old post, but did you ever get this resolved? I'm researching a similar issue.
Thanks!
No sorry erikivy not sorted yet think I have fxxked the device I was told by a guy in a shop in London I would have to give the phone
a new identity IMEI no. I think ? not sure if he knew what he was talking about but I think that's illegal in the UK and I don't really want to go down that route.
I think the fastboot oem command needs to be looked into and I'm not really up on Moto Devices
I'm playing with HTC M8 at the moment much more easy to customise in my opinion but I will get back to the moto when I have time
sorry couldn't be more helpfull
