Is there any codec which let you play this format on the MDA, using windows media player?
i HIGHLY, HIGHLY doubt it as h264 requires some SERIOUS cpu power, even the AMD FX60 has some hard times with h.264.
yeah fullscreen and hd maybe, but podcasts or better vidcasts are encoded in avc(h264). i'm also searching for it. there was a tcpmp plugin, but it never run on pocketpc for me
anyone an idea?
me too, looking for h264 codec for ppc -xda 2 mini. any1 can help? thanks heaps

For TCPMP, you'll need these:

nice and speedy. I never found the original TyTN a slouch, but now that there's a lot of memory available I can run several apps in parallel (even while playing long audio files).
i have installed coreplayer and tcpmp player on my kaiser. both are excellent on performance. the only thing is that the tcpmp player used to be able to play all the WMV files in my wm5 o2 flame but now on the wm6 kaiser, it wont show the wmv files at all in my video folder.
anyone knows why? is it my setting problem?
thanks, eric

This is an issue with the wmv files that they included on wm6. There is a posting somewhere on the codecodec forums linking to a posting here which has a zip file with the dll's you need. Just unzip them into the codecodec dir.

And I quote.
"Finally, in order to test the horsepower of the TyTN II I installed The Core Pocket Media Player and watched a few sample videos. What amazed me here is that I was able to put a video clip on the internal storage memory of the device that was NOT optimised for pocket PC and despite the DivX video being 640 x 320 it played back without so much of a stutter! This is something that I’ve never been able to do on any other device."

thanks so much i found it and fixed it.
How did you fix it?
i downloaded the 2 wmvencoder.dll files and dragged them into the windows dir, then installed .81 rc1. wmv can be decoded now but the performance is not good. i m still trying to find out why. but now at least it can play wmv files.
Does anyone know the settings for TCPMP and the Kaiser so that it plays video correct when slide is open and flipped up?
At the moment it plays ok in portrait (tap the screen and it goes landscape full screen) but when I actually open and tilt I cant get it to rotate and play full screen. it stays in portrait???
any ideas?

I experience exactly the same thing. I can play wmv files, but the performance is poor.
Did you by any chance find a solution?
PS! The poor performance is experienced in both TCPMP and Coreplayer.
Check this thread out...
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/htc-...eo-performance-recomendations.html#post667978
Per the above post.
"... I'm using TCPMP and I've found that the following steps help relieve some of the problems.
1. Options/Video:
Change from DirectDraw to Raw FrameBuffer
Uncheck "Dither" (whatever that is)
2. Options/Video/Pixel Aspect Ratio: set to Auto
3. Options/Settings/Advanced
Check "Slow Video Memory"
4. Options/Settings/Buffering
Change "Preload at Underrun" to 85%
Note: I'm using PocketDIVxEncoder to convert everything to AVI files with the right audio/video size and format and I've tweaked the rom quite a bit. The most important setting change I've found to improve response of programs/video came from the vx6700 forums:
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/GDI/GLYPHCACHE/limit
change setting to either 32758 or 65536
I've tried both, and I'm using 32758 because it's a smaller memory footprint, but 65536 appears slightly faster.
"
Has not helped much. I am trying to play an H264 file encoded at 640x480, 23.976 frame rate. palying back via the FFmpeg AVC format. Audio sounds fine, but I am getting less than 1 frame per second of video. Is it the H.264 codec? I know it is close to the mp4 format, but one of the posters in the referenced thread said these settings helped (for .mp4), where for me it they do not.

TCPMP
Or if you want to spend money CorePlayer.

Transcode your stuff to become 320 pixels wide. Unfortunately, currently, the Kaiser can't play back high-bitrate (in this case, >400 kbps), high-res videos.

Ah! I've recently installed NewsBreak to download various audio and video podcasts over WiFi, and have so far been unable to view any of the video podcasts as the image is so choppy to make it completely useless. I can watch an XVid encoded AVI file without issues (apart from the known problems with tearing) via TCPMP, but not these podcasts. I assume it's due to them being high bitrate files (WMV) then? That's a real disappoint if so - I'm a fan of the potential of the TyTn II, but in reality it seems to fall short.
I am just curious to see what you guys think is the best video player to watch videos on my computer that I recorded on my Tilt. For some strange reason I am unable to hear audio when trying to view a video on my computer. When I use TCPMP on my phone I am able to watch the video with perfect sound.
Any ideas on how I can solve this. Tried to use Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and VLC player and still can't get it to work.
I've been using KMPlayer for a good while now and love it. I've not found anything else more configurable and it's nice to the system resources. Definitely worth a look.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (www.codecguide.com) as duncstar mentioned is the best solution. What's good is that you can also play any media file using Windows Media Player (ie: no need for Media Player Classic).

So called video pros would say any codec pack is grabage, but it's definately not a good idea to have multiple codec packs. K-Lite Full with quicktime and real alternative is probably the best combo. quicktime alternative 1.67 to be more specific because the ones after that stopped playing some cell phone movies correctly.

There are a host of decent MPEG4 players for the Pocket PC/Kaiser. The commercial apps really are the best as they include a multitude of extra features.
Try googling for 'Best PPC Audio Player' and compare.
For a freeware player, TCPMP is your best bet as it also plays most video formats, but is an ugly looking player.LoL
Try Pocketmusic Player here:http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm
Thats great! Thanks.
Commercial but the best for me!

I've read that setting the offset to -250 fixes this.
The offset helps, For me it varies on the video & can range from 125 - 275.
In my opinion the commercial Coreplayer is best. However, they kinda screw you on a few things that they don't include unless an OEM/ODM includes it as an OEM package.
So for me, it's a combo of Coreplayer & TCPMP.

Pocket Divx encoder
I had the same problem with my touch. TCPMP would not play large video's .avi even though it supports it. I used Pocket Divx Encoder to reduce the .avi according to my screen size and now I can watch any .avi without any problems and the audio and picture is still incredibly clear. I max out video and audio quality still with no problems during playback.
Pocket Divx Encoder is free
Hope this works for you and enjoy your video's
I use CorePlayer (based on TCPMP ) to play my Divx files (700 to 900 Mo each resolution 660*360, datarate 1010kbps) without any specific Mobile transcoding and it plays quite well with the right settings, with some rare glitches (but i guess it will never work flawlessly until we have the real Kaiser drivers).
TCPMP is good, but Coreplayer is faster on the Kaiser from my own experience.
The only down side about Coreplayer (aside from the fact its not freeware) is that it cannot play AC3 sound unlike TCPMP (due to open source licence)
why i dont understand it...when i had my standard att WM 6.0 rom that came with my tilt...i watched avis and mpeg4//divx movies CRYSTAL CLEAR....and thatt was with no htc ca driver or none of that ****. And now ive upgraded to WM 6.1..first duttys hybrid then L26 and now garmins...and each rom has the same problem...old tcpmps crash and when i use the repack tcpmp app and it works....i have SLUGGISH and chopppy fps when i watch avi movies and mpeg stufff. How is this possible with all the new drivers and such....it was crystal clear to watch movies with WM 6.0..but with 6.1 its choppy and ****ty playback? has anybody found a better fix for this other then converting the movies to sccreen resolution?

So, to make things clear:

- XviD4PSP is software for converting videos. You can find it here.
- MP4 iPod 5.0G is just one of the format settings in Xvid4PSP.

I use Core Player for videos. Videos converted with XviD4PSP using my settings does not play well in WM player. You can try it with some other settings.
Here are my current settings:
- Format: MP4 iPod 5.0G
- Denoise/Sharpen: Disabled
- Brightness/Contrast: Disabled
- Video encoding: XviD HQ Ultra
- Audio encoding: AAC-LC ABR 128
I don't know what you mean with "bigger vids", but I use it for converting my divx/xvid movies and shows to MP4 and it works well. I think it supports even DVD files, but i didn't try that.
Last time i checked it took 6 minutes to convert some 30 minutes divx show to MP4 (Athlon X2 4000+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT).
One more thing about Core Player
Core Player with default setup gives me audio out of sync. But you can adjust that in options.
i tried those settings and didn't get a good result
works now i have upgraded coreplayer ... thanks alot
