Hi Folks,
Just wondering, does anyone know of a way to disbale to phone driver on the BA? I've been playing with the ControlPanel and BuiltIn sections of the registry with mixed results, I'm not quite out of ideas yet but I'd certainly appreciate any advice!
...Even if you don't know for certain; I'm open to suggestions. I can hard-reset as many times as is needed to find a method as there's nothing important on the PDA.
Thanks and regards,
Rob.
Phone uses 2 COM ports: COM9 for GPRS/WAP data and COM2 (as far as I remember) for AT commands. So deleting these 2 drivers would disable the phone functionality

Hi,
since a couple of days, my XDA II doesn't sync any more. It has still worked finefor a long time, since I have updated to WM6.
With my Orbit 1 async is always working fine.
When I connect it to the PC, the PC is always looking for a USB Driver.
Configuration:
Win XP; Async 4.5
XDAII WM6 by Shekhar 70C40CS
What I've tried: - changing USB-Connection and cable
- hard and Softreset
- changing USB to PC advanced network
- reinstalled async
- trying another PC
- reinstalling WM6 - no way, cause there is no USB driver
Maybe, that it is a hardware problem; but I doubt it, cause everytime, when I connect it to the PC, the PC ist trying to install a driver. So I think, there might be a software problem into the Himalaya.
Any ideas?
Sync problem - missing Driver.
Same problem with me on my notebook. Ask for help in another thread a few week ago, and got the advice to swith to active sync 4.5. I did so on my desctop and it worked wonderfull. On my notebook I stayed on as 3.8 because of my xda II and my old mda I. After I upgraded all my three xda to German WM6 i switched to as 4.5 german. I was verry suprised to get that fault window about the missing driver for that prototype thing and changing the vendor.
Not a mess I still have the desktop to install .exe and then copy the .cab files I need to my sd-cards. It´s not the known problem with the firewall (zone alarm), but it is a good question why as an the desctop works and the notebook doesn´t. Next I try to install the copied as-file from the desktop. Don´t know if it helps, I post if it does.
Hi, I had exactly the same problem, but I solved it in seconds because of Your last thread, thanx.
I had configured my windows firewall with "no exceptions".
I reactivated /checked the firewall-exceptions for ActiveSync on the PC and activated the extended networkfunctions under usb to pc on the xda and immediately everything worked fine.
Solved my problem too. Nice to help you.
Fine that I helped you, it wasn´t my purpose.
I got rid of that dammned thing about the missing driver for Prototype.
Read the hints of Jo_III in Post #28 and #31:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341221
and follow exactly.
Insert in /windows with the name changed, rename it afterwards.
No question, why this is possible without the massage that it is impossible, as you get it, when you try to replace directly, but it works!!
Then soft reset and change /settings/connections Advanced Network Funtionality to disable/unchequed.
The funny thing with me is, that on my Dektop-PC both works.
Advanced Network Funktionality enabled the driver is for the Prototype.
This funktion disabled finds a WinCe Device.
Both works fine. No freesed PPC when disabled any more.
On my own notebook I can connect to the PC only in disabled Mode. When enabled this prototype driver problem is still there.
On the notebook of my beloved wife as4.0 recognizes the PPC an a WinCE Device but has a problem code 10. Think it´s normal as it is 4.0 and 4.5 installs new usbdriver while upgrading.
I tryed to upgrade to 4.5 and the windows installer crashed. I love it, really nice. I don´t want to fix this, I think, for me it is OK to ignore this.
This funny behavior, as i discribed it above, all my upgraded XDA/Qtek (all three of them) do.
PS. I use the German Rom of Teijalk with HTC Home and SCLPC++ Cube and I love it. Works perfekt and really fast and stable even with lots of proggis on RamDisk and few RAMStorage left, still really fast with my Pluscom WLan Card.

More stuff like this. Thank You - thombs up!
The info above is wrong.
Only on my Qtek this solved my problem. Both of my XDA can´t deaktivate RDNIS for serial connection, when I try to uncheque Advanced Net Funktionality.
Don´t know why, I did the same on the other device without an error.
(Now I examined, that I used Port 8 twice. Once for serial to USB connection and second for external GPS connection, so it wasn´t able to deactivate this funktion anymore. I changed Port and everything is fine again.)
Final problem solved
totoche330 got the solution to my XDA sync problem in the thread above.
After Hard reset (No,Yes,Yes) inserting and renaming the dll. Soft reset and deactivating adv net funktionality. Works.
Don´t know why it didn´t work as it worked with my Qtek with all the programs installed, but dosn´t matter.
The problem of my notebook might have some reason:
The missing driver is called a Remote Network Driver Interface Specification to USB (RNDIS).
I think, I disabled everything to remote, because of one up to 25 trojan attacks.
I cured my xp, but i didn´t do a new setup. On the other hand it´s the only XP-Pro SP2. Desktop and other notebook are Home Edition SP2, but this is not important anymore. All PPC sync and that´s what it was about.
Two or three hours work and all the progs are back again. I hope, you can solve your problems too. Good Luck.
Does noone can write a driver for the cf-slot of the backpack?
Sometimes after soft reset you have to cheque and uncheque adv net funktionality inorder to get synced!!
Hi all,
I recently instaled WM 6.1 on my Kaiser. Except from some good things there are some bad ones. The worst one is a problem with GPS.
Software I use (IGo and Google Maps) can not detect GPS device.
Any solutions to this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help,
Mike
Need more details......

What ROM did you install? Does it or do you have QuickGPS or SeaSGEE installed? What device do you have?

Some ROMs and Radios have compatibility issues.
Quite possibly, it could be GpsGate if you have it output GPS data on the wrong port.
If you have GpsGate, uninstall it, soft reset the phone, and try again.
If you GpsGate isn't the issue, go to Settings -> Connections -> External GPS
and make sure you have "GPS program port" set to COM4.
Come to think of it, my GPS isn't working either Looks like I'm having the same problem as you.
I just solved it right now by doing a hard reset.
Sorry it took mie so long to asnwer but I was out on a trip with no access to info you guys asked for to help me solve my problem,
My device is HTC TyTN II Kaiser, bought not through some GSM company but with oryginal HTC setup (prior to this unlucky upgrade I made).
From Settings -> device information i can read the following info:
ROM version 3.03.405.0 WWE
ROM date 01/08/08
radio version 1.64.06.04
protocol version 25.70.40.02W
I did try to set the external GPS port in
Settings -> sytem -> external GPS (i have it here not in system -> connections)
i used the following settings
I used GPS program port: com4
GPS hardware port: none (when i try to set it to com0 or com1 it just gets changed to none once i close and reopen then window. baud rate 4800
access - anabled manage GPS automaticaly.
I do hope info you guys now have will make it possible for you to sugest some easy way to overcome this problem.
BTW - problem is that tom tom or i-go just do not detect GPS device.
as a supporting software I have Quick GPS which works ok - it downloads latest satelite data with out major problems.
Thanks for help in advance,
Mike

than there has to be something wrong w/ settings somewhere. if u had a faulty gps reciever than quickgps wouldn't work either.
try a hard reset and reinstall the nav programs.

Hi, I had the same problem but with TomTom Navigator on a Kaiser. I tried all setting possibilities but nothing helped. After a hard reset, it was OK with automatic settings, nothing to change. Hope it helps.
hmm i've used both tomtom and igo and havent had any problems...try disabling agps
Thx guys,
Not sure why I did not try it before but after your sugestions I just set all the settings to factory and it started working for both software.
I feel a bit stupid, sorry to waste your time and thx for help,
Mike
Hello all... I seached for more than an hour, but unfortunately no answers found... I just have two questions, hopefully regarding registry tweaks:
- first of all, I would like to boost up (gain) my "headset" volume, as I want to connect my TyTN to the AUX-IN of my BMW. But the sound volume is SO low this way! Does anybody have a good registry tweak to "gain" the volume?
- secondly, for GPS tracking, I would like to know if it is possible to let the GPS running while the screen is switched off... THis will help me in saving batteries, in comparision with having the screen ON all the time, just for enabling (and maintaining) the GPS! I am going to need it to track our route on the highest mountain of Africa: The Kilimanjaro!
Thanks! Your help is SO much appreciated!
Roy.
Oops...
Hey Guys... a short update on this from my side: I tried a lot to get the two above questions functional by changing things in the registry, but still no luck. It even did end up in a hard reset...
Again, I tried to search for these two problems again, but still no luck .... peeps please help me with these issues. I know there are experts who know the answer by heart...
Hope to hear from you
Issue GPS tracking solved
Hi guys... after a very very long search, I have solved one of the issues. I found a small CAB file that is able to switch off the backlight WITHOUT having the GPS to go off. You can find it here: http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/
However, still no solution to gain the volume. All registry tweaks I have found on this forum do not work with a TyTN II! Last call: does anybody have a solution to boost the volume (preferably by a registry tweak) for the "headset output" that will be connected to my AUX of my Bimmer?
Thanks!
Roy.
can you be specific..as to what exactly have you tried with the registry ?
Hi, and thanks for your answer! Well, I have mostly looked in these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418582
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403223
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424565
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256734
Here I found these tweaks, but most are not applicable for a TyTN II, as I simply cannot find the registry keys or folders!
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds
HKEY_Local_Machine -> Software -> HTC -> Audiogain
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring:InitVol
But nothing works!! Who has the solution for the TyTN II? Thanks...

The last one on your list (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring:InitVol) should work cause i tried it myself..what value did you set for InitVol and Speaker...try something between 15-20. Under the SoundCategories section also edit the InitVol value for InCall and change it to 15.
Let me know if this works
Ok! But which one do I need then for the headset output that I connect to the AUX?
Ring? RSDPUnlock? Attenuatuion? IMOverride?
Thanks... I hope you can help me out!
well iam guessing here but the editing the speaker value under ring :Invol should do the trick...but iam not sure
Well... tried all that but nothing works to boost the headphone output...
Also found this suggestion... but also does not really seem to work!

Any other suggestions? Thnx all!!
hello friends,
got a touch diamond recently and am loving it... put in unsigned hard SPL and a new rom (dutty's 3.6b) and new radio... all went fine. ActiveSync on vista: perfect.
but then suddenly, for no reason I can determine:
whenever I insert the usb cable in the Diamond I get a popup:
"Connection not valid"
cannot open the connection ''USB' (extra quote intended). This connection is no longer valid or does not exist. Select a different connection and try again
Any idea what could cause this? The 'USB connectin is nowhere to be found in the 'connections' or 'USB to PC' options under settings as well...
In the registry I found something which I thought was strange, but i don't know enough about this to be sure:
all entries in the registry which are related to USB (or 'USB) say: "default"- value not set (Type REG_NONE).
Can anyone tell me if I should change this perhaps? All help would be greatly appreciated!
bump...
no ideas...please?
Perhaps this question would get a better response under dutty's 3.6b thread given the possibility that this issue is rom related....?
good suggestion... i tried that, thanks.
hi! i am new at the forum and i have been looking how to get my shift fully operable. i have also liberated the wm6 side so i have now a full wm operative sistem. but when i have tried to connect to the built-in gps with google maps, it doesn't give me any signal, it doesn't get any satellite. i don't know how to configure the gps to have it working, i don't even know what's the com port of the gps neither the baud rate of it, so i cant get it working. do someone know how to fix that problem? is there any program or something that brings functionality to gps?
thanks for the help!
you need to flash any rom from this forum. Liberating is not enough.
And you need to applys HardSPL first.
any side effects?
Hi, thanks for the answer. i have been looking for "cooked roms" and i've found some ones. but i am not quite sure of doing the process of hard-spl and rom flashing... I wondered if doing this would eliminate some functions of the shift, like mobile internet sharing with vista or backlight luminance level misfunction... shared functions, for short. do you know if that is possible?
thanks for the help!

It depends on the roms. Mine have all functions activated, and work like a snapvue liberated with GPS
