Hi ppl,
I need some advice concerning the following problem please:
------
When I create a new SMS and add a recipient to the "TO:" field from my contacts list, only the phone number is inserted... not the name of that person.
Yet, when I reply to a SMS (received from someone who is in my contacts list), both the name and number are present in the "TO:" field.
Therefore, whenever I browse the messages in my sent folder, I don't who I've sent them to as only their numbers are shown (where I've created new message for those people rather than replying).
Any ideas please?
All I really need is for the recipient name and number to be copied to the To: field when creating a new message.
For example:
To: "John Doe" +447123 123456
Instead of:
To: +447123 123456
Thanks!

I had been scouring the PDA phone forums for the solution to resolve my SMS issue.
After using my O2 XDA IIi for almost a year, I still had not find solution to fix the "Contact Name" problem in my SMS "Sent Items" folder.
If I were to reply my received SMS messages, the name would appeared in the Sent Items, but if I were to compose a new SMS to a number, which appeared in my SIM contact and phone contact list, only numbers would be shown on the list, and if I were to explode to full view, the Sender From: is "null" (blank), and To: "1234567" (numbers only).
I had read the forums about the "country code" being the source of problems, and i tested out by appending "+xx" country codes to both contact list and SIM card, but still it does not work.
Could some kind souls help me out?
I'm having a similar problem, no solution at all...
I can't see the sms sender's name, only his phone number. even although having it in my adress book. This is a really grave problem to me.
I'm new to PDA Phones, so this may not be Tilt/Kaiser related.
When I send text messages (by going to the contact list, tapping the person's name, and then tapping "send text message") to anyone, they get it without any problems. But when I go to them in the "sent" text messages folder, EVERY text message displays my brother's contact right below after the "To:" (with the correct contact) and "date:" (with the correct info). It shows my brother's contact as if he was the sender.
Why would this be. What can I do?

Have you got your own number listed as brother in your contacts?
Wiggy
maybe you have his old phone number or something...
edit: and you still have it in your contact list
Got it,
Thank you very much guys. How dumb of me!
I listed my number in my brother's contact (the difference between his number and mine is 1 number).
Thanks again.
Newbie here trying to fiqure out how to get the blackberry messaging service to bring up a list of matching names from the contact list when typing a name in the To: field of a new message. The same as it will when you are composing a SMS or Outlook message. I would think it is a registry setting, but I do not know where to begin looking?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi all,
I bought the Touch Diamond2, and have noticed this really annoying problem.
I have a list of contacts (that their names were modified in Outlook 2007, and then transferred to my phone), that whenever they call I can see their number but not the name associated to them (above the number it displays: "(unknown number)"). If I choose to add the number to their name (which is already there - it just asks me to update it), then their name appears if they call. After I add it, it seems like the same exact number - no change at all.
Another thing is, if I enter a number manually that is already stored in my contacts, it doesn't show the name of this contact. If I select the number from my contact page, it does show the name and picture as it should.
Am I the only one experiencing this? Is there a setting in the device i'm missing?
Please help,
Thanks
Hello!
I also have the same problem, because of the indicative of the country, already send an email for the HTC, to try to decide the problem. I am waiting a reply of them.

if I want to send a SMS there is a comma before the phone number and so it's not possible to send the SMS
It looks like this ,+49174...
If I get a SMS from such a person there is also a comma before.
this is only at some contacts.
The other contacts look like this Max Mustermann <+49174...>
I sync my contacts with the google account,
I also tried to delete the contact and add a new contact with new Name but the same number. The problem stays the same.
I'm running CM 7.0.3.
It seams nobody has this Problem
At 1 of 5 clicks at the SMS symbol the name is shown like this "Last Name, First Name" <+49174....>. Normally it should look like this First Name Last Name <+49174...>.
Can anybody help me. This is driving me crazy.

[EDIT]I've deleted the mmssms.db because there was a lot of deleted sms in the database with wrong numbers[/EDIT]
