Newbie here trying to fiqure out how to get the blackberry messaging service to bring up a list of matching names from the contact list when typing a name in the To: field of a new message. The same as it will when you are composing a SMS or Outlook message. I would think it is a registry setting, but I do not know where to begin looking?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi ppl,
I need some advice concerning the following problem please:
------
When I create a new SMS and add a recipient to the "TO:" field from my contacts list, only the phone number is inserted... not the name of that person.
Yet, when I reply to a SMS (received from someone who is in my contacts list), both the name and number are present in the "TO:" field.
Therefore, whenever I browse the messages in my sent folder, I don't who I've sent them to as only their numbers are shown (where I've created new message for those people rather than replying).
Any ideas please?
All I really need is for the recipient name and number to be copied to the To: field when creating a new message.
For example:
To: "John Doe" +447123 123456
Instead of:
To: +447123 123456
Thanks!
Hey, I had just set-up my email on my wing to auto sync. Once I had successfuly done so, everytime i try to send an SMS i would get this message after hitting the "sens" button:
"cannot recognize one or more recipients or the address is not valie. Would you like to send the message anyway?"
So when I put in my contact in my "to:" field in the message, i just type in the name and it auto completes the name and number for me. All my contacts are on my phone and I cannot come to understand why I constantly get this error. Can anyone help me resolve and remove this error? thank you.

After few troubleshoots & hard resets, i finally got the solution:
go to messaging/menu/options/address tab
(in, contacts, get email addresses from) : choose [all e-mail fields].
it will solve ur problem.
For some reason when I tap on 'new' to create a new email message, nothing happens (i.e. there is no response at all). I am able to receive messages. It has only just started doing this, so i wonder if i have somehow disabled this function. Any advice will be gratefully received.
Hi, I have the same problem. It is also not possible to send a response for a mail (entering text is OK but pressing the "Send"-Button does not send, it just "beeps" and nothing happens.)
So it is only possible to send a Mail to a contact in the adressbook (sending to another mail address is only this way: create a mail with an existing contact and then change the "To:" to the right mail).
This misbehavior depends on the Mail-Account: with my Exchange its NOT working, with Hotmail its OK (both on the same PDA). I think it a switch in the registry? (Policies?)
Since now I have no solution (but I have not searched very deeply).
Hi
I'm trying to add a mail address from a received mail to an "old" contact; when I tap on the address i can choose between "Send email" or "Save in contacts", but the save options let me just save it as a NEW contact.
Same thing happens when I try to add a number from an SMS to an old contact...
Is this a bug? Is there a fix?
Thanks!!!!
Does it work if you turn off TF3D?
Hi!
Annoys me as well, I guess that this is one of the great features that the designers over at HTC came up with.
Actually you can do it for SMSs from "unknown" numbers, by tapping the SMS (from a unsigned number) in the TouchFlo SMS tab you will get a contact page for that phone number. If you then slide the tab selector left to the contact card icon, you can hit save at the right soft button. Then the contacts list will open and you can choose an existing contact to add the number to, and even choose what kind of number this is (work, office, private, etc)
The problem is that if you hit an email from the TouchFlo email tab the regular winmo messages application is launched instead of the TouchFlo messages application used for SMS.
The ideal situation would be that emails where handled in the same way as SMSs

paalkr, you are right, in this way you can save sms number to existing contact... Thanks, it's a good workaround!
I hope someone will find a "fix" for email addressess, too....
I have been exchanging tons of SMS messages with a bunch of my friends. HTC Diamond does a good job of displaying the messages chronologically that i would have exchanged with a specific person if i tap on his/her name. However, it restricts the number of messages shown and i need to keep tapping on Older... again and again to see the older messages.
Is there a way that i can copy/download/save the entire SMS conversation i've had with a specific person? I don't want to copy/paste text manually into a file as it would take ages. Any tool/utility/application that exists to facilitate this ...preferably freeware !
Thanks
MyPhone can sync all of your text messages
