How to Send Fax - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi
I would like to use my XDA IIi to send faxes. I dont want to transfer the file in XDA and then use True Fax to send it. I would like to connect the XDA IIi to the PC via USB cable and then use the modem of XDA IIi to send the fax directly from the PC.
Can someone help me do this .

KSE True Fax 2.0
Hi,
This isn't related directly to your problem but I wondered if you have problems receiving faxes on your Qtek2020i using KSE TrueFax 2.0?
I can send them via the Qtek but each time I try to receive one, I get modem failure errors?
Do you have any idea why this happens?
Thanks,
Jason

Hi
Try this link

It is about the XDA IIs, but it should work OK with your device.

O2 XDA mini S as Internet VoIP handset

Hi,
I have an O2 XDA mini S.
Wanted to check if one can use this device as an Internet VoIP handset, using the USB port to connect with laptop/desktop.
Once connected to laptop/desktop use the broadband/dialup to connect to internet
I dont wish to use GRPS/EDGE for connecting to Internet (I know it is possible to use GPRS and use Skype/MSN etc...)....!!!!
Also wanted to check, if any one has used any mobile phone with Infrared/USB connectivity, to connect to the laptop and use the mobile phone as Internet VoIP handset. I dont wish to avoid use of multiple devices and also reduce my overall cost.
Skype Only
I have used Skype on the xda mini s and that works quite well on gprs or wifi but i never heard of using the xda as a voip phone/usb phone. i do not beleive that the usb can function that way. i have never heard of it being used as a usb device/phone, only used with Skype. You can download the Skype cab free from their website. Hope this helps. MD.
other VOIP phone
I have used SJ Phone on HTC Wizard(WM5) as VOIP phone via WiFi. You can create own profiles for any VOIP operators if they provide requested data (I tried Voipcheap & JustVoip). I never heard of any program using wizard/xda as usb phone. Rgds

anyone know good sms application for PC?

I'd like to be able to send SMS messages from my desktop WITHOUT having to connect the phone via activesync.
Anyone know of a good application to do that?

1) If you want to send SMS from your PC via Internet, then there are many web sites that would allow you to do that (some free, some not free).
2) If you want to send SMS from PC (using your cell phone) via Bluetooth/wifi/activesync, then there is a free plug-in on Microsoft web page for MS Outlook
Not possible and bigger question WHY?? (unless for junk SMS's!).. how will you connect to the WM SMS client???
You need Activesync USB or BT connected.
Jeyo mobile extender works well with the latest (Office 2007, a bit dodgey on older versions!) Outlook and integrates so that you can forward email/SMS to each other.
It used to inform you on your PC when a txt came in but the sw has a problem with WM6 as the client is hampered for that.
Great for keeping a permanent record of your SMS's on your PC/Laptop and managing your SMS's on your phone.
Hope this helps.
Well, what I want to do is send an sms using the keyboard on my PC (which is somewhat bigger then the one on my Kaiser). But without having to connect the device with activesync.
Why not activesync. Wel then I either have to connect the kaiser with an USB cable. Or I have to connect to activesync with bluetooth. And that has to be initiated on the kaiser.
So I can't just leave the kaiser in my pocket when I want to send an SMS
Whatever client you use HAS to connect somehow to your phone!
Why use anything else when MS Async is there ???
Best way is Activesync BT with Jeyo as I am sure you won't find anything better!
Just google 'free sms' and you'll come up with plenty of free sms websites. Of course you can't receive an sms.
You could try SOTI Pocket Controller. It lets you control your Kaiser from your PC. You will see the screen from your phone in a window, allowing you to use the keyboard on your PC to type SMS'. Of course you have to connect via USB first...
If I configure ActiveSync to connect via Bluetooth on my Hermes, and pair the devices as a permanent pairing with my machine, whenever I initiate the connection (from my laptop) it automatically starts syncing... Can you not do that on the Kaiser?
First off all, let me make it clear I don't want to send free sms or bulk sms.
I just find it easier to type an sms on my desktop keyboard then on my phone itself.
I've used Jeyo mobile extender & mobile companion. And they work great, they come close, very close to what I want.
The only problem is that I have to either connect the phone with a USB cable or that I have to initiate the activesync connection on the phone itself.
So I can't just leave the phone in my pocket.
I do understand that I need a connection somehow. And I have a working bluetooth connection. The phone is paired with my pc and I can use activesync over bluetooth. But only if I open activesync on my phone and use the menu option 'connect with bluetooth'.
I don't know how to initiate a connection on the PC. If someone can tell me how to do that then using that, together with the jeyo tools would be great!
VOIP providers like VOIPStunt or VOIPBuster all allow the sending of SMS's thru a web page interface. And if you sign up with an account with them (cuz the sending of SMS's is not free with them, though much cheaper if you send them internationally) you can actually make them look like they are coming from your phone.
I.e. I have an account with VOIPStunt (voipstunt.com). I use their excellent VOIP services on both my PC and my phone. In your account details you let them know your mobile phone number, which is verified by them (they send you a text msg and you have to enter the code into your profile). From that point forward whenever you call or SMS someone using their software, it looks as if its being called from or sent from your phone number.
Anyways, that's one way of doing what you are asking. But of course, it doesn't go thru your phone at all, (You don't even need to have your phone with you to send) so all the SMS msgs out are on your PC, and if someone replies, they go to your phone. But if your goal is to be able to use your PC keyboard to compose and send out SMS's fast or plenty, this would do the trick.

Gotcha!! I understand what you want now...
You want a PC program that will automatically connect to your phone via WiFi or Bluetooth when you click 'Send' on an SMS package on the PC!!!
Soz mate! we haven't got that far yet but as with all other ideas, this is where they start!!!
Making it public, as you have, is what xda-developers is about!
Didn't know that bout the OS. I would have thought an option like 'connect when in range' would be available.

I use a prog called "Pocket Snapshot" which allows me to use my PC's keyboard to do anything I want on my PPC.
Nevermind- I just saw this post which means the one I use wouldnt help you at all. My apologies.

Anyone knows if it possible to use skype via cable to your computer? The same princip while you're using opera to surf the net via the cable?
Best Regards,
Qaxky

... But when i'm opening skype it wants a connection with WIFI or GPRS.. And then says that it coulnd't find a connection..
is there anything in options?
i dont use Skype, so cant look myself.
it may be that it only supports mobile communications for some reason.

PC software for sending and recieving SMS bluetooth?

hey guys. just wondering if anyone knows of any software that i can connect my diamond to via bluetooth to by laptop when I am at home so all sms i recieve pop up through the laptop? and so I can also reply to them by typing it on the laptop rather than the phone.?
thanks.
Ryan
there are a few things you can use...
1. If you got a free data plan then try something like dashwire... just google it and its the first link. Its web based so you'l need internet access from your computer... i've tried it and works great.
2. Otherwise i use Jeyo mobile Companion 2.1
I use this when my HTC is connected by USB to my laptop through activesync. It also keeps my htc charged up
Jeyo mobile is like a mini outlook program, and works brilliantly. cant see why a bluetooth connection via activesync wont create the required partnership and once you tried it i can guarantee its what you need. i used to use it at work as i had to tell staff off for texting on ther phones and didnt want to be seen as a big hypocrit... hmmmm i have no morals!
3. There is also SOTI pocket controller, which puts the diamond device on your PC desktop. Again this requires activesync and from when i used it, it was a bit slow. I use to use this for my MDA compact3, but after i found Jeyo mobile ther was no going back.
Jeyo mobile also backs up contacts, call history, sounds and other personalisation. I hardly use it anymore but its one app really worth paying for... i think there is a 30 day trial on the download. Hope this helps pal.
