Hi everyone,
I was wondering... is it possible to change the hardware buttons permanently? I mean, if I do a soft reset, the button are mapped back to their original settings. Do I have to modify the registry and how?
I would prefer a solution that does not require software if possible.
Thx !!
hahahaha, it's all software. Even the OS!
Maybe I wasn't clear...
I mean "I prefer a solution that does not require additional software". Is there a setting in the OS (maybe a registry hack) to change the buttons mapping?
hi atzakas,
after softreset buttons should not be mapped back, they should be as you mapped them in Settings.
They are mapped back if you do hard-reset, but that is understandible, you can't hack it.
you can also check this app with 40 additional commands for hardware buttons:
http://handster.com/product.php?id=6
there you can map to buttons things like: switch programs (Alt-Tab), backlight loop, new task, new appointment, etc
Regards,
Victor
Thanks for the reply, but I wouldn't have asked if it was so simple.
I change the button settings, then do a soft reset and the settings are back to the original settings.
I guess I'll have to live with that
i experienced the same problem with an O2 XDA IIi, however, this is cured misteriously recently

I am trying to lock down the Hardware buttons on my m700 using
PHM Regedit I can lock down all buttons successfully except the Windows button using
Flag SET TO 9 ON BUTTONS 40C1 etc in registry
I am also using askarya PocketKiosk Builder 2.6 which on soft reset the task manager works again.
Unfortunately there appears to be a bit of a bug. Although I disable all hardware buttons the and only allow through my own applications it still after a soft reset then reactivates the windows hardware start button allowing access to the menus ontop of my allowed app, simply meaning you can access all programs and settings. (Bit pointless really)
Can anyone help me lock down the windows button and the 4 way navigation pad. Is there any reg tweaks or other suggestions you can help me with
Thanks in advance

I did search, but everything i found required editing of the system files and registry and stuff. I was looking for a simpler way. Thanks.
If you're using an AT&T ROM, you have to do the registry stuff to remap it. I don't know much about this since I use an HTC ROM. Once that's done it can be set in the buttons settings since the orientation change is one of the choices there.
WM6.1 lets you remap keys in the settings menu.
I have tried searching for a long time on this because I know I've seen it before, but I can't find it anywhere.
Where is the mapping of the right soft key in the registry? I'm using itje's Touch-IT v3.01 and can't find it anywhere. I don't want the right soft key to be the "Today" screen, but any changes in settings do not "stick."
Hi
Use Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3
Remap softkeys

ADC doesn't change the TF3d right key very well..
It's better to change the registry keys.
Use a decent regeditor (I use fdc taskmanager)
go to HLKM/software/htc/manila
the right and left softkeys are there.
You need to put the complete path to whatever file you want to access and enclose it in ""

Ok, so I got there, but I really don't want to map it to a path. I just want it to function like the left soft key, but on the right. I looked at the values of the LSKpath, but it is blank too.
If I changed the registry value to "<Right Softkey>" like it is called in settings-buttons-left key, would it still work? I'm a rookie with the registry although I am trying.
And I have the fdc task manager now.
try this little app, works perfect

Yeah, that tweak app lets me assign something else, but I want the right soft key to be context with what I'm running on the screen.
... but still good work! I love your ROM.
do you mean the right Hardware key then?
Yes. Sorry for any confusion... I am talking about the hardware key.
In that case again there's a reg key that you can change,
but have you tried it in the button settings control app? as I've just tried it and it works here using Itje's rom.
<Right Softkey> is one of the options and it sets it fine. Not tested to see if it sticks after soft reset but it works.
anyway reg key is HKLM/software/Microsoft/Shell/Keys/40C3
using the buttons settings control panel changes
Flags to 14 (decimal)
Default (blank as in nothing there)

Hi i have a problem with my MDA IV Compact. I searched the forums but found no answer to my problem.
I want to do some basic button remapping and so i go to settings -> personal -> buttons and guess what. There are NO buttons listed in the buttons list.
Has anyone come across this before and if so can you help me solve it? I mean there are only few hardware buttons present in diamond its a shame not to be able to map them.
Button mapping...
The only button you can map by default is the long press of the 'dial' hardware key. This should be showing in your button list as 'Button 1(Hold)'. There is an application called GScroll available here, which lets you map the four hardware keys by touch (double tapping them). Not exactly what you're after, but it's all I can think of to help you out
thats thing. i get NO buttons on my list gscroll looks nice. too bad its not free ware. but its cheap so i may get it.
you can use dredsensor
this tool allow you to remap buttons depending on running programs
No, no, no!
Diamond CAN have its call key remapped via Windows.
I had the opposite; a glitch entry appeared in the buttons list.
I am attaching a reg-file which will bring back the call button mapping. But be careful, this comes from Windows with localization patch.
Or, you can hard reset. If MDA CIV ROM creators didn't remove it intentionally, it should be there.
Quite randomly, the start, OK, and application shortcut buttons on my Orange tytn ii have stopped working properly.
In ScummVM, I can use them as normal, they're not DEAD, but they don't do what they should. The start button doesn't open the start menu, the ok button does nothing, and the application shortcuts seem to think they're the softkeys...
Yet the softkeys do as well.
I suspect scummvm of having something to do with it, it only started after I remapped a key I was using in that.
So, does anyone know of this problem?
If not, do you think it's likely that ScummVM is changing registry entries or something to prevent windows from intercepting the keys then changing them back on exit, and not done it for some reason?
It's got to be as easy as changing some registry keys, I just don't know which ones and what to.
Thanks in advance
Hmm, after re-setting all the buttons in the "Buttons" control panel they're working again. I'll just put this down to general windows annoyances.
