Guys, it's slightly too geeky to be announcing this here, but as of 6.55am this morning, I'm the proud of father of Vijay555.1, née Alexander.
Those of you wondering why I've been so quite for a while (relatively speaking!) now have an explanation  And unlike most of my releases, he came a little early too, but both beautiful mother and child are doing well
He doesn't look his best, but you wouldn't look so great having just been squeezed out of your mom either This is about 1 minute old.
God bless all,
V
PS. I know I won't be the only one, but man was I temped to hack the PC they had in the delivery room while I was waiting. Nice finger print scanner and touch screen - but VB interface The wife wouldn't have been too happy though
Congratulations, vijay A healthy and long life to Alexander - may his toys be exempt from his father's tinkering

Wow he's a handsome we thing - good eyes - they look like eyes made for programming to me
Baby Alexander is a little ill, and will require an operation in a few weeks. I remember saying to Buzz a while ago when we found out, that if I could, I'd hack and patch him. We all really need to get out more
But rest assured, he'll be out-programming his dad as soon as I can get him to dribble less then I do on my keyboard

Best leave that to the guy who knows how to do it properly, the surgeon.
Hope the little fella gets better soon.
TheBrit: yeah, tell me about it! They ask you if the father wants to cut the umbilical cord.
Mrs Vijay555 said "he better not, he'll poke him in the eye or something".
She means it, I'm not best when it comes to delicate co-ordination . That's how she got pregnant to begin with

V,
Congratulations with your lovely son, he's looking very good. Hope the surgery will get him soon like he's supposed to be.
Now take it easy & enjoy these early days, you'll get used to the diaper stuff ;-) (probably not to all the breaks during the night). Take good care of him & mrs V they really need you. We can wait for some time for your new developments.
Sorry for the delayed response, haven't done much browsing the forum lately, but been thinking a lot of your family last weeks.
Warm regards from me & my family, M
Congrats. After the first 6-7 YEARS you start getting used to the extra work 8) . Thats when the marvel of the game boy lets you take a break.

These happy celebrations only remind some of us ho wold we are....
**musing*** midget only started walking when we were looking for some VC in silicon valley....
What were you all doing in 1990 ? @mikechannon et al
Hey Midget, happy birthday. It was mine on the 21st, a good month for birthdays
In 1990 - I was programming my TI85 calculator and getting a bollocking for not paying attention during my A-Level maths classes... I loved that calculator Girls were, and continue to be, a complete mystery.

Ha, that sounds like me! I was the only one in my school with a ti-graph link, and was always being asked to load up someones calc with drugwars, pong, etc. And making stupid password scripts, and number guessing crap. The real hard part was explaining to my english teacher why I needed a graphing calculator for her lesson...
Happy Birthday midget and ViJay

lol, we still do that with TI85's, and still get bollockings from a-level maths teachers
however i have to disagree about the girls, it was my girlfriends birthday on the 22nd, and we have been together almost 7 months now
March is definatly a good month

Not at all! Merely in the context of my "Geeky no-mates" posts, 7 months is a very cereal relationship. Be careful, next thing you know, you're better half is popping out babies and you wish you had more time for programming

oh ok
i hope not, it would ruin my chances for university (planning on studying computer engineering for 5 years in iceland)
I try not to think about that at the same time as my missus, makes me feel bad
Anyhow, gotta live for today, and stop thinking about what has/could happen
Don't worry Midget, when it happens, it happens.
Planning is better, but if and when the bubba comes along, go with it. I was never the particularly paternal type, but my little v is the best thing I could ever have done. Fortunately my input was limited to a good 30 seconds of work, so Mrs V takes credit for the remaining 21772770. It obviously shows - little v is a cute bugger, unlike me.

My dear friend took her 13 year old son into the ER monday night and was told he possibly has Lymphoma (a form of cancer). She saw her pediatrician today and called me crying, saying simply "It is not good" then hung up.
Please, whatever your beliefs, could you help me get a Prayer Chain going and send healing and love to James Miller and his family. He just turned 13 and is a bright and loving kid.
I know xda may not seem like the place to ask this, but I feel that it is the ideal place. So many of us from all around the world come here, and if we all just sent good, healing, loving thoughts James' way...maybe just maybe, the power of prayer and positive thinking will give him the strength and courage he will need for the upcoming dark days.
I am a cancer survivor and I can say it is damned scary, chemo sucks, and it is hard to stay positive. I know you don't know James, but think if it was your child or kid brother.
Thank you for your time reading this, and for your caring thoughts and prayers.
Jenn
I just saw your post and even though its been a couple of weeks I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your friends son James. My mother is going through her 3rd bout of fighting Ovarian cancer and is undergoing chemo now. Let your friend and James know that I will be praying for him and hoping that the new year will bring better news for him and them..........MAY GOD BLESS AND KEEP HIM SAFE.
Well, I don't believe in god, but I do hope he gets better.
Thank you both. We have got some promising news...while the test results are not yet official, as some tests take quite some time to culture, it is looking promising that he may not have Lymphoma. They are also testing for Leukemia. Hopefully both test results will show negative and give credence to the "promising" predictions by doctors.
Thanks again for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
Happy New Year.
hi mate, keep faith in god, he'll definitely keep him safe.
Adieu..
I am non beliver in god but... i do feel sory for him and if he was my kid id also be cryin my eyes out
i do hope he gets 100% better!!
God know's what he's doing. But that's not going to keep me from praying, and i hope, i really do, that James will be safe.
Yusuf
i will say a prayer for james. may the Lord bless you.
sorry just read this one
may God be with his healing hands perform a miracle for this child... hope he is alright now
well i can write all the most positive things in the world or the most negative things but it really wont make too much difference ,this looks bad.The little fella has no choice but to believe in himself to make it thru no matter what.
Will say a prayer for James and his family! Thanks for letting us know.
Well after months of testing, the doctors have ruled out Lymphoma...however, James does have over-active lymph nodes which if not kept in check, may one day turn into Lymphoma. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes, I have passed them on to his family...and please keep them coming. The goal now is to keep him well, and keep his body well regulated so that we don't have another scare like this one.
Hi,
Jenn I read you and I thing he will rehabilitate very soon. My friend tell me about this form. He is a madical sudent.
I shall concern with him for you. GOD MAY BLESS HIM AND HIS FAMILY.
I prayer for James, god will help him.............

Wow!! 15 yrs!! That's almost as old as I am!!
But seriously, u should really take ur wife back here for a trip. So many things have changed over the yrs, but I would suggest coming back in another 2-3yrs time, for the dust to settle, literally.
For Orchard Road is going through a major overhaul, and with the new casino and 2 integrated resort coming up, it will be a lot of fun here!! (hopefully someone from Tourism Board will see this and maybe I can get a bonus for promoting Singapore!! )
In the mean time, take care of urself and I will hold on to the satay and chicken rice (yum, yum) for u till u get here!! For FedEx don't deliver satay to Scotland.
lol no reply yet
Haha, only got one person reply. i think there should be more ppl around.
I am not a singaporean but I LOVE SG!!!
Happy New Year
Happy New Year to all Singaporeans and all the People in this forum, thx for all your help! Any more Singaporeans? lol

Hey guys.
Been wanting to put this thread up for a long long time now.
So yeah, here i'm. I have always been wondering if there are any other aviation buffs like me around on XDA ?
If you like planes/airports/pilots do post and let us all know !
If you are a diecast collector/pilot/AME/spotter or just love aircrafts do post here.
We can start a kind of a discussions.
Hope there are a few out there.
Cheers
I am! I love aviation!
I was planning to follow some sort of job within aviation in the future, but I've now decided against it (To damn expensive...)
But Im still working on my PPL! Few hours under my belt
I'm an aviation enthusiast!
How do I know this? Well, I'm pretty much the only one of my mates who knows that every plane in the sky is NOT a 747, or that airbus ISN'T literally a flying bus...
Oh, and this plane: http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/su27/images/su27_2.jpg makes me weak at the knees...
I am rapidly becoming a greater enthusiast... I work for Boeing at the Everett, WA plant building 747's

Nice man ! that would be Paine field ? You get to see some 788s rollout every day ! That is nice ! What's the progress on the 748s ? You can actually become our secret source within Paine filed
What job do you do at Boeing ?
I do work on the 747-8 in the main factory, which is just north of Paine field. I work in final body join, where they actually assemble the sections of airplane. The crew I work on installs landing gear, flaps and fairing panels. Its pretty boring assembly work, but it pays the bills.
In Boeing news today, the first 747-8 Intercontinental is being joined... you can probably see it if you google it... All other news no one will really care about. And I have been able to see a bunch of 747's, 787's, 767's and 777's leave the factory. It happens every week. The coolest part of working in the main factory is the shear size of the building. It is freaking huge... the largest by volume in the world!

That's nice to know ! But IMHO 748 is pretty darn ugly ! Look at 77Ws or 788s or the A388 they are sooo much better looking !
Actually i have never been a part of the 74X family !
Wow man ! Can you please get us some pictures ? Would be nice to share on the aviation forums i'm on.
How about the test flights they must be fun to watch.
Do you see any Air India dreamliners or 77Xs on the assembly ?
Thanks man.
