H i hope someone can help i am quite desparate and frustrated now.
Three days ago i updated my tmobil mda vario to the cingular rom.
it was slow, so i downloaded the tmobile rom from this site and now the phone is even more slower than it was before. I had to update by doing a hard reset because active sync no longer works and :
theres no sound
And i have lost the ability to sync with my computer or laptop. I have tried syncing through usb and bluetooth and i have checked that all settings on active sync are correct. However whenever i plug the vario in active sync does not respond at all.
Please help I need to get my phone the way it was before.

First I want to thank Summitter for all the work that has been done, so far you are saving me.
I connect to two different Exchange servers, 2000 and 2003 so I use Push on one and MailXpress (ugg), then to add to it all a POP server and it has been painful. With the original Cingular ROM that shipped with my 8125 no matter what I did it seemed to lock up every 2 minutes to sync with the different servers even though I did my best to set everything up on manual sync. I upgraded to the 2.17 and it has been great, speed, everything but I am having a couple issues. Push is working well, POP3 doesn't at all, and I have tried to hook up the MailXpress yet. GPRS seems to be extremly slow... If i use wireless IE will connect to a site quick, switch to GPRS and it hangs for minutes if not hours... I did remove the proxy but it hasn't changed.
So in short -
GPRS seems to be extremly slow, and I would still like to know where to turn it off.
POP3 doesn't want to work right even if I turn it to manual sync

I have problems updating my SPV M3000. I've been tryin' it for a month now but it just won't happen. Every Rom i download i get the same problem: I just follow the steps of the wizard. But when the installation begins, my device's screen flickers and then it looks like it starts to glow. At the same time my activesync connection drops. The PC gives the [ERROR 260] this makes sense because i lost the connection. Then i have to soft reset my phone. I have Sim and CID Unlocked the phone.
My current version is 1.3.1.13.
Can somebody please help me.

have you tried changing your use cable? Seems like it's the source of the trouble...

Have you tried flashing an "official" 2.xx rom?

I've got the same problem and I've tested my MDA with two seperate USB sync cables. Both sync with ActiveSync and actually transfer data with no issues, but I get the 260 error EVERY time.
Does anyone know if there is a MS service that needs to be running that maybe we're missing? I thought all of mine were, but might not be.
Any updated info would be WONDERFUL.
Read this, at the bottom of the file are the error-codes and try to use another USB-port (preffering at the BACK! of your PC)

Maybe try to use activesync 2,5 beta.
Actually, I have the most recent ActiveSync beta and all. And that nice ftp link doesn't work, which I've noticed seems to be the case most of the time.
Can I download that file elsewhere?
I've actually plugged the USB cable in every USB port I have to test that theory and still no-go.
I'm currently on the phone with T-Mobile PDA Tech Support ( BLECH! KILL ME NOW! )
If I get a solution I'll post it and a walkthrough on how to fix it.
Ok, so, just got off the phone with the T-Mobile PDA Tech Support people and here's the lowdown...
It's the phone itself. Somehow my phone is bugged, go figure. Sorry to break the news to the guy who started this thread, but hey, I'm getting a free T-Mobile Dash out of it
I'm needing help. I flashed to the new ROM, 1.62.502.0. I did the Soft Reset thing to remove the Bloatware and restored my PIM with Sprite. After I reset my device ID I connected with Active Sync.
Now I'm stuck with Active Sync appearently in the process of "Synchronizing", however it's doing it for two hours....and it still isn't completed. I blew out the Active Sync on the PC and reloaded it, and now it is showing a second PC but still is the synchronizing endless loop...and I only have it set to sync a few files and Notes.
Can someone help me out with any suggestions?
Since no one has offered to help....Does anyone know of a place where I can get some help?
An update: I was able to sync just fine before I flashed to AT&T's new ROM. Plus I am still able to sync with my laptop, so the problem appears to be with my PC. I can also load programs and explore my PPC with the PC, however the sync process never proceeds past the "synchronizing" phase, i.e. the "processing" and then to the "connected" phase. I have un-installed and reloaded ActiveSync several times.
If no one knows ar has a suggestion....can someone point me to a third party syncronizing program....I'm really up the creek here.....
I think you would have more luck at the At&t customer forums, as people here generally don't use OEM Rom's.

I've been searching around the internet now for about 3 hours to no avail, I have even resorted to emailing HTC for help. Thats how desperate I am.
I have a MDA Vario III (HTC TYTN 2) that has worked flawlessly for a long time (since christmas) but has suddenly stopped communicating with Activesync.
Im not bothered about syncing contacts etc, all i want to do is use the file browser to download and upload photos etc.
I have tried all the suggestions i have found so far (enabling adanced network functionality, disabling it, reinstalling Activesync etc.) to no working answer.
Can anyone help me?

Not sure if you tried this or not. Delete your existing partnership and then reconnect it. Good luck. Activesync sux.

I've deleted the partnerships off my vario3, and completly reinstalled activesync. Still didnt work.
Ive taken the phone into the T-mobile shop i bought it from, they seem a little too keen to send it off for repairs, maybe this is turning into more of a regular thing that i thought?
Kept onto the phone just for now, I wnt to try and fix it before i send it off.

read through this thread and look at post #10 and see if your computer is detecting the device at all..
also try removing your simcard and microSD card and connect your device to your pc in bootloader mode and see if it says USB on the bottom.

It's probably the Notification queues have lost their active sync bits
use Pocket IE or Opera (mobile) to download and install something like MemMaid or SKTools
you can then add the Active Sync components back into the notification queues, and then rebuild them
Once done you should be able to sync etc

First I ever heard of that. I am having active sync issues as well and I have tried everything in this post.
Nothing works, it connected a few nights ago and it all of a sudden stayed connected all night. I am Back to having problems again.
Does anyone know if avast will hurt active sync?

ive read through those links and none of them have a fix for me.
The computer recognises my phone, in device manager it comes up under Windows CE USB Devices as HTC USB Sync.
i shall try the bootloader idea and report back.
@Kimtyson- if i fix it i wont be sending it off, that would be obsurd
@pjwilkin- i have never come across that before while reading about the titan, fancy sharing some knowledge?
Just got my phone into bootloader (thanks wiki) and when the usb cable is connected it says USB and the computer starts to install drivers etc.

Some further things to try
Can you connect via Activesync using Bluetooth? What about on other PCs and on other USB ports on your PC? What happens if you delete that HTC USB Sync listing in device manager, unplug the phone, reboot the PC and then reinstall Activesync 4.5 (I use the CDROM the phone came with the phone for that)? See if you can get the phone shop to plug it into one of their PCs with Activesync or WMDC.If it's showing up in your PCs device manager then it's likely some sort of problem/configuration issue with your desktop PC it's connecting to - not a problem with the phone itself.

this cancels out any hardware problems... so do as the previous posts mentioned, its all good advice.
im assuming that all activesync services etc load up ?
hi, i've been facing this active sync problem since yesterday. b4 this, i was able to connect my phone via active sync with no problem.
but after that, when i connect my usb to my laptop, a windows showed up to ask me which connection do i prefer and that's all. nothing happened and my windows mobile device centre had nothing too.
i just installed fingerkeyboard2 during these two days. i guess nothing related though.
so guys, can help me out? thanks a lot!
