So I've been messing around with the ROM tools in order to build a base "clean" ROM without any unnecessary carrier customizations. Ideally this could then be used as an easy base for anyone who wants to customize their build without having to worry about what T-Mobile, Cingular, etc. stuff is in there cluttering it up.
So far I've only run into one problem that I can't quite figure out and that's how to create the MMS folder in the Messaging applet. By default (OS load only) the Messaging applet only shows Outlook Email and Text Messages. It does NOT show MMS.
While I can easily create the MMS Server, this alone does not create the MMS folder (account) in the Messaging applet. Both the T-Mobile and Cingular ROMs seem to do this in one of the carrier customization CABs. It seems to be done at the same time the carrier specific MMS server info is put in. What's interesting is that when the carrier CABs are installed the MMS size limit is locked in (292k for T-Mo, 300k for Cing) instead of being adjustable as it is in a clean configuration.
Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can create the MMS folder and get MMS support in a Clean ROM build?
Thanks.
you have to install the file MP-Shortcut-MMS1-Java5xx-CyberonVoice.cab from the extended rom. Then you will have the MMS folder in Messaging. This will also install the ClearView PDF viewer. Actually, I think they are both in ROM, and this just installs the appropriate shortcuts (but I could be wrong...)

Hello,
TuMa is great But in messaging i dont see the folder mms, just Text Messages and Outlook E-mail.
Can you help me, someone.
Thank you
First off you'll need make sure you install the Arcsoft MMS app, and you'll also need to set up an MMS account... I don't know how to do this manually but I use the CAB I posted here...
As you will see from the thread, the CAB does other stuff as well, but onceI have done this then added the GPRS/MMS settings for my provider I get an MMS folder in Messaging which didn't exist before... (and it works!)
Ok, Like many, I have been using the threaded text messaging (Palm) on the Tilt for a few months now. As you all know, the MMS was built into the Tilt's text messaging app. So I had to install the 3 MMS files to enable MMS and ad this icon back into the mail folders. The 3 files are:
wpbear at&t proxy folders
arcsoft MMS enable
arcsoft MMS composer 4.2.8.1
When this is installed and then a soft reset is done, I can NOT get on mediaNet or use any application that uses mediaNet or the web. For some reason it just stopped working as of this morning. Anyone else having simular issues or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Anyone on this? Do any of you use threaded text messaging on the tilt? I would be willing to try another one providing it had the MMS within it that worked unlike the palm one or even an alternative to keep the MMS within the windows mobile email section without having it attached to the text messaging.
Seriously, anyone elce using this config and notice that medianet stoppede working?
Updated to wm6.1 and finding it a real drag to work around the MMS when making a new SMS in 'messaging'. Is there any way I can edit the menus to remove the MMS option?
Thanks!
Is there an advantage to have it separate from SMS?

Good question, I'd also like to knwo the answer.
What do you mean it is difficult to make a new sms.... click Messaging, click new click sms type????
That's my thought also!
If you want to separate your SMS and MMS, you need to search for and install a version of Arcsoft that does not use a merged inbox.
i dont think its possible to use a separte inboxes with kaiser roms
you can do a temporaraily fix if you are desperate and this will be creating two folders inside the inbox one called sms and one mms, but to be honest i dont think its logical to separte these two! in old devices we used to have this now they are merged (why taking step backward)?
I know some of the cooked ROMs have them separate. I prefer them together.

There's a cab in my 4shared folder that has them separated, but honestly if your sole reason is that it is too much work to have to click new--then scroll down one more space to "sms" then it makes me think that installing a new version of archsoft and running the connection wizard again will also be too much work.
You shoul consider installing htc action screen with will allow you to create a new sms very easily. Also, remember that once you have a thread for an individual you don't need to select a new message. Just go to the conversation with them and it will send sms by default.
So I read that MMS doesn't work in WM6.5 and the solution was to install ArcSoft MMS and fix it that way. The only hitch is...after I installed the CAB, I can't seem to figure out where the actual program is so I can set everything up. Looking through File Explorer I see nothing in Program Files that looks related, nor does there appear to be any kind of new settings panel anywhere. I apologize if this is a stupid question but I searched through all the ArcSoft topics and everyone seems to have been able to figure this out except me.
Help? I'm using a Kaiser on T-Mobile with Witschey's bare WM6.5 ROM, if that helps. Thanks in advance.
I'm using Kaiser with WM6.5 build 23081 from T.i.R 19k with ArcSoft MMS version 5.2.2.22 bundled in the ROM. MMS is working good to the same operator in Indonesia
I use 2 steps in setting my MMS:
1. Settings - Connections - Connections - Add a new modem conn (the second paragraph)
2. Messaging - MMS Options

For the first part, what's the section heading that "Add A New Modem Connection" is under? For me, it's "My Work Network" and that doesn't sound right for adding MMS settings...additionally, I'm trying to use this info to fill in the required fields:
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm21387.xml
But that doesn't list a username or password, which the settings are asking for. Am I doing something horribly wrong here? I admit I know virtually nothing about how MMS works, so writing like you're talking to a 4-year-old would be helpful
Oh, and also just to clarify, I'm using the version of ArcSoft linked in the second post in this topic:

...anyone? Still unable to send/receive MMS and have found nothing which seems to be useful =/
I have a Focus S that was from AT&T but was unlocked for other carriers. I was on Telus Mobility before and MMS worked without any setting changes. I just changed carriers, I am now on Koodo Mobile and I can't get MMS to work.
I am unable to fully unlock my phone because it is updated and I don't have a backup so I can't do any on the usual fixes to enable ADC. I do have it unlocked through the App Hub though (student account) so I can sideload some apps so maybe there is a solution there, I did load "samsung tools" but it doesn't work since the phone isn't fully unlocked.
I have tried the Samsung Wireless Manager app it got my 4G data working, but when I enter the MMS APN as soon as I save it, it changes from "MMS" profile to "other" and the MMSC that I entered disappears.
Please help!! I really miss having MMS to exchange photos with my family.
Thanks!
The latest Samsung update (LE2) blocked XML editing (to prevent WindowBreak and similar) which also blocked the ability for the Wireless Manager to change the network configurations which are stored in XML files.
Follow this guys directions (specifically the ones at the bottom) and you'll be able to get everything working except sending MMS, you'll be able to receive but not send. The MMS profile has to be named mms_line otherwise it will save as other. And for me at least, I was able to change all settings and save them except for the MMSC (server which handles the sending of MMS), so long as you configure everything correctly you'll be able to at least receive MMS, and as per someone else's suggestion you could sign up for text plus or something and advise the sender that you use a different number/service to send MMS.
Thanks Samsung -_-
