Could you please help me. I couldn't find answer here
I have Qtek9100 with following parameters:
ROM version: 2.18.7.1 RUS
ROM date: 2/14/06
Radio version: 1_02.20.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.9
I am using Cingular in the USA.
I am trying to do couple of things:
1) Switch to English ROM version instead of Russian
2) Find and install latest official working ROM

make sure your phone is SIM/CID unlocked - chose your rom, flash, enjoy the toast...
We're still working on waffles here, but you'll have to talk to the chef Summiter about that one.
While I'm at it, try reading a little... perhaps reading for a week or so like most of us did, on just about anything with a post to your phone's model. I'll also say this: Your missing our most wonderful tool here at the site and that button is ... dun dun dun duuuunnnn...

Well, after hours and hours I still do not know what to do.
I tried new Cingular ROM, but I am getting error mesage - that I cannot use this ROM to upgrade.
Does anybody know what should I do?

Then you sure didn't write down the error message and put it into the search function.
Search for CID unlocking with 2.x Roms...

To resume the problem:
- I try to update the splashscreen
- after each update ( i tried lewcamino's tutorial as well as a prepackaged one by faria) I get CHECKSUM ERROR at boot time and the device gets stuck. After that, if i reflash the device then it works OK.
- trying to flash xelencin's 2.24 ROM I get the same problem CHECKSUM ERROR at the beginning of the update process.
Now, yesterday night(late) I noticed something - at BOTH rom update and splashscreen update - the update utility reports that it upgrades from the 1.2.0.0 version - even if currently I have the latest T-Mobile ROM:
- IPL 2.26
- SPL 2.26
- GSM 02.25.11
- OS 2.26.10.2
The QUESTION(s) are (here is my post asking them and with some screenshots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56383&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25)
1) Where is the ROM version stored ?
2) How come that the update utility reports an existing 1.2.0.0 when I have installed 2.26?
3) Can this cause any problem and which kind of problem?

Hello Kelu,
The hacked ROMUpdate utility you use (Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID) always reports that version regardless of the version actually in the device.
I think the main reason for this is to allow flashing any realese so in particular downgrades....
Newertheless I experienced the case that downgrades can be problematic because the SPL part was not downgraded for the 2.24 releases....

Running Wizard Love ROM
I am trying to update to WM6 (various versions)
I tried to CID unlock and the following was the result. Not sure if it was done successfully or not.

Anyways I went ahead and tried to upgrade using 5._Underground_edition_Crossbow_ROM.
This started and reached 96%. At that point I got a communication error after about 2-3 mins.
Result - stuck in bootloader mode. I then went back and put back the Wizard Love Rom.
Tried the WM6Titanium_Version2 Rom, went 100%, but Wizard Love Rom booted back up. If I am not mistaken this would mean that its still CID locked.
I am unable to download the shell tool to try that unlocking method.
What are my options?
What can I try?
What am I not doing right?
What am I missing

You have a G4 device,
I would follow the directions and read the info mentioned in step G4.5 again!
Ok I used the shelltool and flashed to Titanium. Once I get windows live cab I will be good.
You CAN'T unlock a G4 device for FREE!!!!
There are a lot of stickies and even the thread you followed says clearly that you must jump to mum's thread to flash a ROM WITHOUT unlocking the CID.
READ people, READ! You can avoid a lot of headaches (for you and the others )

So I have recently been looking at my Device information on my Tytn II P4550 and I currently have Rom Version :1.81.707.0 WWE with Radio Version: 1.27.12.11 , Protocol Version: 22.45.88.07H. I started to look around to see if updates were available and got myself tottally lost with the various different versions. My phone is an actual HTC branded Tytn II phone and I was wondering if someone could help me out to determine which rom update i would need, and where i could download it from.
also, what does it mean by WWE version?

I wrestle with my phone daily.. sometimes I get to the window and I want to throw it out the window, and it kicks me in the nads, and I wake up.

I am using the latest official ROM, but want a faster version. Can anyone reccomend a custom ROM that is mostly based on the official only stripped out and sped up? I dont want to go too custom. Make sense?
Hmmm, you don't seem that new so i'm surprised you asked this :S. There are different ROMs and you should try them ALL out (yes, i said all) to see which one best fits your needs. You have no idea how tedious and stressful (at times) cooking a ROM could be so it's only fair you go try them all out and decide for yourself
I asked only because there seem to be SO many, and I really just want a simple paired down plain-old stock rom. Nothing fancy, just a few "speed her up" tweaks built in. I wasnt about to ask in the ROM thread, thats suicide.. I thought here would be ok.
I have posted some here and lurked for a while now, but only flashed like twice. 1 custom then the 6.1 official. I am not a big flash junkie, only a speed freak.
Anyone got a suggestion?

I you want stock go with "Imnotatreofan" ROM - Stock At&T 6.1 ROM with no bloatware - I have run it and it is very good.
If you want F-A-S-T - the try the "NoThrills" ROM - I am currently running this one and love it. Sorry I don't have links, I just saw your post and thought I would reply.

hi i bought my self a mda vario 3 of ebay a few days ago
(im a newbie to pda's infact its my first)
it was sim locked to t-mobile uk network. upon doing some research on how to unlock i found this

i used the software following the instructions and everything went well. the phone got unlocked but i seem to have lost sound on the vario? whenever i play a tone it just viabarates but before i unlocked it the same tones were playing fine.. ive even imported other audio files to test the sound but still get just viabration.. even tried a hard reset but still no luck with sound? only had the phone for a day and im faced with this major issue. can any of you geniuses help me solve this problem! most appreciated.

Download and flash with any WM6.1 ROM for Kaiser. I encountered the same problem and resolved in this way.
person above is wrong if you are looking for a custom ROM. Its the radio......where is msd with his cat?
oh and also I don't think that thread unlocks your device "forever". I don't remember completely but I thought after changing your radio to a working one your device became un-security unlocked. Everyone else....shhhhhh! don't tell him about the permanent one let him find it on his own. Not really but seriously do try to find it on your own first. My sig has a BIG search button in case its hard to tell
