ROM upgrading question

Could you please help me. I couldn't find answer here
I have Qtek9100 with following parameters:
ROM version: 2.18.7.1 RUS
ROM date: 2/14/06
Radio version: 1_02.20.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.9
I am using Cingular in the USA.
I am trying to do couple of things:
1) Switch to English ROM version instead of Russian
2) Find and install latest official working ROM

make sure your phone is SIM/CID unlocked - chose your rom, flash, enjoy the toast...
We're still working on waffles here, but you'll have to talk to the chef Summiter about that one.
While I'm at it, try reading a little... perhaps reading for a week or so like most of us did, on just about anything with a post to your phone's model. I'll also say this: Your missing our most wonderful tool here at the site and that button is ... dun dun dun duuuunnnn...

Weeks of reading didn't help...
Well, after hours and hours I still do not know what to do.
I tried new Cingular ROM, but I am getting error mesage - that I cannot use this ROM to upgrade.
Does anybody know what should I do?

Then you sure didn't write down the error message and put it into the search function.
Search for CID unlocking with 2.x Roms...

ROM Upgrade questions - are there any simple answers ??

To resume the problem:
- I try to update the splashscreen
- after each update ( i tried lewcamino's tutorial as well as a prepackaged one by faria) I get CHECKSUM ERROR at boot time and the device gets stuck. After that, if i reflash the device then it works OK.
- trying to flash xelencin's 2.24 ROM I get the same problem CHECKSUM ERROR at the beginning of the update process.
Now, yesterday night(late) I noticed something - at BOTH rom update and splashscreen update - the update utility reports that it upgrades from the 1.2.0.0 version - even if currently I have the latest T-Mobile ROM:
- IPL 2.26
- SPL 2.26
- GSM 02.25.11
- OS 2.26.10.2
The QUESTION(s) are (here is my post asking them and with some screenshots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56383&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25)
1) Where is the ROM version stored ?
2) How come that the update utility reports an existing 1.2.0.0 when I have installed 2.26?
3) Can this cause any problem and which kind of problem?

Hello Kelu,
The hacked ROMUpdate utility you use (Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID) always reports that version regardless of the version actually in the device.
I think the main reason for this is to allow flashing any realese so in particular downgrades....
Newertheless I experienced the case that downgrades can be problematic because the SPL part was not downgraded for the 2.24 releases....

problem flashing from SD card

Don t know what happened but I have been unable to flash any roms onto my trinity for over a month now on my Vista computer. It used to work fine and I have flashed my trinity on my vista computer (after following the instructions) many times.
I even borrowed a laptop computer with windows XP and installed active sync to do a boot loader recovery. then tried to flash the trinity with a new rom on the laptop and it still dont work.
My last resort was to use the flashing from SD card method as provided by the wiki.
When when I am in the boot loader and inserts my SD card thas has been prepared as per the instructions, I only have the SPLASH1 & SPLASH2 on the screen. Where the sample picture provided on the wiki clearly has more

is it the rom that I have that is the problem and not compatible? I'm trying to go back to a non vanilla rom and selected 317iTNYSTD as the rom to put onto my phone.
My phone is currently running g77's ROM.
My boot loader screen says

Now i'm stuck in the bootloader screen.

I've tried also here's the result:

SPLASH 1 - OK
SPLASH 2- OK
EXTROM- OK
GSM- here nothing happen I left the phone for more than 30mn and the bar is stuck.

fastboot can't see my dev phone 1

I posted this on cyanogenMod forum few days ago, but no one was able to help me so far, so maybe I will have more luck here...
Recently I found my old dev phone 1 with stock image and decided to make it more useful by installing cyanogenMod on it. I tried to follow instructions on http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Android_Dev_Phone_1:_Full_Update_Guide page. I downloaded Amon_Ra's Recovery, adb and fastboot tools, added all-htc udev rules and followed instructions on fastboot page http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Fastboot#Access_bootloader to access the bootloader.
Unfortunately fastboot devices returned empty list of devices even more, lsusb did not list any new device.
When connecting the phone in debug mode adb sees my phone without problems and lsusb shows my phone as well so it's not connectivity problem.
I found this section about SPL S-OFF on fastboot page http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Fastboot#Verify_SPL_S-OFF and it seems it applies to my case as my fastboot screen looks like this:

The section continues that in such case I have to use different SPL, so I went to http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=HTC_Dream:_DangerSPL page to install DangerSPL, but it requires Amon_Ra recovery which again requires fastboot to install so there's a cycle here
I would be grateful for any hints what I should do in this situation

ok, never mind: I used standard dream procedure with rooting and it worked ok, I'm on cyanogenMod now

System(MM) update problem.

On 5.1.1 build LMY48T
When I received this phone on 16Nov I tried to let do the update to MM. It would D/L but fail in updating. (Just reboot after each try) I went ahead with 5.1.1 in unlocking and rooting with no problem. tried to allow it to update date again as it has been requesting and it now justs boots into TWRP. I wish to upgrade to MM but am stymied. Need Guru assistance.

First time around it might have been a corrupt download. Now it's because you're rooted and have TWRP installed. To be able to update through OTA your system needs to be fully stock.
To update now you need to flash a factory image (plenty of guides if you search). I recommend using fastboot, but you could also use a toolkit (Nexus Root Toolkit). If you don't want to wipe your phone, leave out the userdata image when flashing (or the "no wipe"-mode in NRT).

I did search but I have to admit I got alittle confused as there seemed to be different factory versions available. I did do updates to my Note 2 until they sneakily locked the bootloader on me (verizon Bastages) I will look at the guides more throughly now to educate myself better. Thank for the guidance.

Either of them will work, bu to save you time, get the latest (MRA58R) because it's just going to prompt you to install those.
