I've been reading the forum for days, but I still can't decide which roms to use, can you guys give me opinions.
I am using the T-Mobile USA orginial rom.
Personally, I've found the 2.17 custom rom to be the best. It has a nice balance of performance and stability. It's far better than the stock T-Mobile ROM but it's a lot more stable than other custom ROMs. I think it's a lot more stable than the stock ROM, too. It shouldn't be hard to find with a quick scan of the upgrading section or a search.
I would go for the qtek stock 2.17 rom its called
RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe

Looking for the most stable ROM out there. Have searched and read up but doesn't seem to be a clear-cut winner. I currently run 2.17 and was doing well, but after 5 months it seems to be ready to poop out ... lock-ups, reboots, etc. Wondering rather I should just hard-reset and keep 2.17 or go to Cingular 2.25 offical.
Thoughts?
try molski's ROM,is the best one so far, or shogumark's 1st beta ROM(ala_carte)....still waiting though for the final release.

Thanks for the feedback. Any preferred link to molski's ROM (there seem to be a few threads)? Also, does this one contain the Cingular extended ROM components, etc?
Thanks!
I'm very happy with Molski's ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=274316) and waiting for Shogumark final release...
i would also recommend Molski's ROM its excellent never had any problems with it particularly if you use it with OMAPplus so u can easily overclock your device. You can get the ROM direct from his site www.molski.biz just make sure you follow the instructions about checking if yours is a G3 or G4 device

List's everything that's in it...
What do different ROM's do?
Tom
Different ROM's can do a million different things.
It all depends on what the creator put in them. Dutty's ROM is probably the most popular at the minute, because it contains all the software people are after.
Remember, a ROM is basically the OS with a collection of Software in it. In Dutty's case, it's also got a number of registry tweaks which improve performance.

There's now "best" ROM to install. Each ROM has their advantages based on what the person making it wants. Dutty's ROMs are pretty good - he has lite ROMs and full blown ROMs and ROMs with the touchflo/cube. There are other ROMs : Alex's, Quentin, CUSTEL, etc.
Read about each ROM to see if they include what you want and try it out. You will have to make the decision on which ROM is best for you. If you want to make your own try using Alex's ROM Kitchen (link in my sig).
Good luck.
Hey all,
First please let me say I am not looking for anyone to tell me what is the BEST cooked rom out there. I know each one has specific plusses and minuses that are suited to particular purposes.
Also, I have looked through this forum. I have read most of the WIKI, and spent an hour reading through various posts. However, I haven't found a concise discussion of this as many people are focusing on cooked ROMs.
I am getting a Tilt and from my reading so far I am pretty sure I want to reflash it with an HTC Rom. I want the TouchFlo and some of the other stuff that the HTC offers. I have some general questions though:
1) Is there a downside to putting HTC Rom on a Tilt? I know there are some little issues that have solutions (like keyboard remap) but will I experience any instability or call/data quality issues running HTC over ATT ROM?
2) Relating to #1...can/should I just keep the ATT ROM and can I then add everything from the HTC ROM (from cabs?). I don't know which solution yields the best stability.
3) Is there a reason why I would go with a 6.0 ROM instead of 6.1 ROM? I would like to believe that the 6.1 is the newer, better stuff...but maybe not?
4) What is the latest 6.1 official ROM? Is it RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship?
5) When it comes to "official" shipped ROMs and Radio firmware from ATT and HTC, is there any good reason not to use the latest versions? That is are any of the new versions a step backwards in terms of stability/performance?
I do not want to use any cooked firmware (at least initially). I would like to start with a vanilla shipped firmware and then add/remove things myself. If this comes down to me cooking my own ROM so be it, but I would like to start with the basic.
My goal is to have a ROM that will be fast and stable, with as few lock-ups or resets as possible.
Thanks for your assistance.
1)i dont believe so it depends on the radio i believe
2)i think u should flash cuz it'll remove all the atnt junk..bloatware n such
3)it all depends on personal pref...i did cuz i wanted the threaded sms function
4)i dont know.sorry
5)i think they're all pretty much the same..just gotta test the differnt versions to find out
most of the cooked roms i tried arent as bad...not many lockups or resets
i'm still a noob at flashing tho so still trying things out
I have a T-Mobile Compact IV and the original ROM is 1.37.110.3 WWE. Can anyone point put any cooked ROM's that will write over my original ROM.
I have already flashed to SPL-1.40.Olinex and changed radio to 1.00.25.05 (Don't see much difference). My Protocol Version is 52.29.25.12U
Any advice is greatly appreciated as I cannot find any ROM's for my original configuration.
Cheers.
i'm pretty pleased with panosha's efforts.

yes flashed the new one today...it's VERY good
They are all good. - Perhaps a little different!
Check them all out for the one that suits you (sir)
Cheers Lads, thaks for the help.
I only asked the question as I thought only certain cooked ROM's worked with certain original ROM's. I had seen mention of other ROM's but never seen my 1.37.110.3 WWE.
Thanks again.
100% Choose Swiftblades V6.0 Rom`
Hi there
I have the TMobile MDA Compact IV and realised the OEM Rom was very very laggy. I didnt like the pink and white so decided to install a cooked rom.
I have tried them all on this site and without the shadow of a doubt,
"SWIFTBLADE" V6.0 rom is 'THE BEST'
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408109
(thats the link to the ROM - I recommend the FULL version.
Its lightening fast and so so stable. I havent had to soft reset my device since getting rid of the stock TMobile Rom and I heavily abuse it every day!!!!
Its so close to the HTC 1.93 stock rom but has the best performance tweaks installed. What I liked the best about Swift's rom is that the things he took out of the 1.93 rom, you can install as provided cabs, so he has left the rom pretty much to the individual taste of the end user.
Dont waste your time with the rest, Install Swift's Rom and know you have the BEST of the BEST!!
Good Luck.
Geoff (UK)
I also have Panosha's ROM (my first) and i can say it is undoubtly fast, but i am definately going to try more ROMs to see if there are are 'better' ones!

In my book it has to be between Shine on (panosha) and Belite (bepe). to me these two cheifs are the heavy weights on xda...!
I got my MDA IV the day they were released and flashed it straight away. I've tried nearly all ROMS available via this forum and have settled on Dutty's. Currently at version 1.8 and can highly recommend it.
I prefer it over others down to some neat little touches, one being the icon spacing. He has them 3 to a row vice 4 on most (including stock) meaning that when on the move you hit the one you want first time.
I suppose it comes down to what you feel good with and whether or not a certain cook removes or keeps in what you feel you want on your phone.

You can do this either by using the common tweak tools or directly in the registry...
I also tried several ROMS but finally got stucked to panoshas ROM. It is fast and slim. It also contains the latest OS and apps.
I am waiting for Bepes 1.0 Final...
Gonna give it a try because it will be in my language
hello friends, I commented that the update has launched att, I do not like at all, and wish to return to my old ROM.
ROM ORIGINAL: 1.59.502.3 67150 wwe
radio 4.48.25.20
ROM Update 2.10.502.4
I only use it for personal taste the original rom, someone could provide the download link?
For 6 days I look and find nothing anywhere.
I want to return back to the factory ROM brings.
thank you very much! I look forward to your responses.
Get it right here:

Or give a custom ROM a try, they are much better than the original ATT shipped ROM, which IMO was terrible.
thank you very much for the link, I could solve the problems.
many thanks friend! I owe you one

Where can I find or do you know of the Best Custom ROM for Tilt2 with SIP Internet back on it? I have AT&T and they disabled WM6.5 "Internet" phone choice and need that back in there, plus some other good features if there are any...
Thanks!
