Please help. I flashed 2.16.9.x and now ActiveSync doesn't work anymore, it connects all the time. PDA doesn't show activesync syncronization icon.
I tried to flash another versions of ROM, but it didn't help.
The problem may lie with the PC as opposed to the PDA. Have you tried a remove / re-install of AS4.1 on the PC?

Fair enough, I was just trying to help. Perhaps if you had stated that in your original text I would not have provided such an "Obvious" answer. I will leave it up to others now to take guesses as to what you "might or might not have done"......

Try to make your computer or laptop restore on earlier date then since it started. I had once this problem i don't know but sometimes it with the system files in computer missing then the problem occurs.
Although my ActiveSync works almost fine after the same rom-upgrade, I encounter its strange behaviour sometimes (rear, not always!) - PDA slows down to a crawl right after you disconnect it from a desktop PC (either USB or Bluetooth). It becomes so terribly slow that it takes 20-30 sec to draw the Comm-manager window! then you better soft-reset, then it works just fine. Why am I... to prove that ActiveSync 4.1 is not quite stable with new ROM version 2.16. There is a bug somewhere, and it has to be reported to i-Mate firmware writers.
Have you followed Microsoft rules about configuring firewalls for ActiveSync 4.1? Does it create a network connection 169.254.2.1 on a desktop PC?
Thank you guys, but I guess my case is harder:
1. I have firewall switched off. I didn't change any setting in computer. I just flashed new ROM.
2. I flashed my original ROM, but it didn't help.
3. I tried to sync on several computers and had the same result.
By the way I cannot return to original ipl/spl, I don't know how to do that.
Today I visited repairing service's office and they've prooved me my device is not broken, it synchronizes succesfully via USB on their computer.
So, the problem is related to my computer(s). If I'll find something I report in this thread.
it probably has to do with one of the cabs you installed that are on your original extrom or someone elses. Most people who have had problems after the upgrade on an 8125 (Cingular) have installed cingular cabs from the old rom. I had to to figure out the MMS configuration and after I foundthe one that did my activesync no longer worked. after a reflash and only installing some of the default cabs that came with the new rom and manually configuring the mms and gprs I don't have any problems at all.
well maybe it is the version of activesync we are using when this does happen.
I'm running the ROM that came with the Cingular 8125, and it does the same thing ... 1 in 10 times after disconnecting the device from the PC, the 8125 slows to a crawl, and the only way to recover is a soft-reset. 9 out of 10, it works fine.
OS ROM: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Radio: 01.09.11
Protocol: 4.0.13.20
not overclocked
soon to be ROM upgraded (hopefully)

I use 4.1 for a long time.
I didn't install anything on my pda. It happens even after hard reset. I even tried to flash original rom. In all cases ActiveSync displays "Connecting...", pda even doesn't display sync icon.
I tried to sync with standalone notebook and it was successfull. I'm really shocked why pda cannot sync with my desktop(s). It seems to me it could happen after some windows unattendant updates or something, I'm still investigating...
I have Qtek 9100 and have installed rom 2.16.9 and i also have activesync 4.1 refusing connection to my pda. After some googling i have found this interesting site: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/tshoot-as4x-connection.htm
I did cheks described there and found out that activesync doesnt have any network adapters and/or activity. USB driver installs, but it, again, doesnt generate anything. Maybe problem is there?
Ehhh... I even cannot return to any previous rom version, because there is no rapi for updaters to work with
reverting back to original cingular rom
How would you go back to original ROM using Lokiwiz tool if your active sync was working OK?
Thanks,
Each time I have done HARD RESET--I uninstalled active sync from my computer AFTER DELETING PARTNERSHIP. I deleted PC from Active sync on my 8125. I deleted all files on my computer related to active sync using search.
I then reinstalled active sync 4.1, being sure WINDOWS FIREWALL was off. I went thru all the steps with my TREND MICRO VIRUS PERSONAL FIREWALL EXCEPTIONS listed on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/default.mspx
and I got it to work (1st install always takes time for calendar)
Hope that helps--it seems ridiculous to have redo all that-but so be it.
I'd like to know how to get back to CINGULAR ROM as I am still in 30 day return window.
Well there is a magical combination of buttons as described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386 (somewhere around 2-4 page):
Voice+Camera + Reset. Colored bootloader shows up. After that you can connect it to usb and run .exe with rom you want.
The problem with me is that i dont use any 3rd party firewall (i have hardware router for my connections)
reverting back to original cingular rom
You don't think there would be a problem going DOWN in ROM'S?
Do I need to UNLOCK again first?
I must confess. I did (i think veeery lucky) sucseded in running activesync. Altough what was the cause i cannot say. I reverted to 1.6.7 version of the rom. and reinstall everyting several times. and reboted several time. and i saying loud magical words. (and deleted checkpoint vpn software that i have installed). AND it worked!
Maybe trouble was in vpn soft, but it worked pre 4.1 activesync. So... Here is my experience.

Thank you very much for this link, it helped me to find the reason. It's not new ROM fault. The Microsoft Firewall Client (ISA 2000 component) on desktop blocks communication between PDA and desktop. I disabled it and now ActiveSync works fine.
Thank you again.
Your Are Welcome
Hi all,
Finally WM6. Great!
But after installing the Tofclock ROM, my device became unstable like many others have reported. So when C_Shekar published his ROM, I installed it.
No problems on stability anymore, but after this upgrade I can no longer use my Bluetooth functions properly.
I can pair with my GPS, but as soon as I try running GPS software the device becomes slow and will reset after some time. After that, only turning bluetooth on will cause a reset, no matter if I'm paired or even using it at all.
So I re-installed the Tofclock ROM, because there I had at least GPS. But now it was no longer working there either.
Today I even downgraded to AKU3.5 and even a 'pre-historic' version of 2003 (1.70) but it does not work anymore for any of the ROMs.
Can someone please help me on this one. I understood from other posts that I'm not the only one, so it's not just my Hima. But I really would like to have my GPS back.

Which indicates that it is an hardware failure and not a software problem.
Flashing the device with another ROM version does not destroy any hardware at all.
Sascha
Thanks for your response.
But if it is just a hardware problem that can't be caused by an upgrade, how come I'm not the only person experiencing the same issue that started at the same time?
If it was just me it simply could have been bad luck.......
I'm just still not sure of my conclusions, but everything points at the upgrade to WM6. Let this be a warning!
I have not seen any similar reports in any threads before. Can you link us to specific messages?
It is very well possible that it's a software problem. After all you're probably using the same GPS/BT software in all these ROM up/downgrades you tried?
My GPS software is entirely on my SD card, after flashing a new ROM and formatting my RAMdisk it instantly knows my last position. Your software has IMHO probably messed up some file on your SD card that's related to your BT/GPS settings or so. I advice you to format your SD card, reinstall the clean GPS software on it, see if it still misbehaves.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332945&page=17
You also entered a reply back then ;-)
I will re-install my GPS software. However, I've tried other programs as well with the same result (i.e. Speed Sentry). But that might be because I tried it after a first reset. And the reboot also appears when I have a different SD card in the slot.
Right now I'm waiting for my backup battery to be empty. Who knows, a 'real' hard reset might help.
@Maggy
Seems you were right! Removing the battery didn't work so I checked my GPS program's files. I found a recently changed file for the config and after I removed it it seems to work again!
Still a big puzzle why it started when I changed to WM6. But I'm updating my ROM at this moment so I hope to be able to answer the question if it is WM6 related soon.
Thanks for the help!
You're welcome.
And yes, you're right that I replied to that post but my memory is in my PC and XDA, not in my head
It's possible that there's a tiny difference between the way the config file is written in WM6 or WM2003, so switching from one OS to the other messes the file up.
I have the good habit of formatting the SD card when I flash a ROM.
Glad this item looks solved.
Even better: it doesn't look solved, but it is solved.
I went home using my GPS! YESSSS!
Knowing this it's time I start cooking my own ROM......... thanks to all the great people at this forum.
Hello All
After having read the message, I just try TOMTOM 6 with RBT2001 and have the same problem, tomtom is very slow, and after some time soft reset.
And I have this problem with the new ROM: 7.0c.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
And I had no problems with the ROM: 7.0b.40CS (WM6 AKU 7.0)
If this can help you understand the problems ?
I guess you should delete \Storage Card\ttnavigator.bif, then reinstall Tomtom
It's even much simpler: simply delete the \TomTom Navigator 6\navigator.cfg file. You'll have to redo some configuration, but it works great again.

i ve tried a clean install on a cab, and different usb cables, what can i do?
edit: it was working fine last month (last sync when was it was synced)
Use something like sprite backup to save your PDA first and then try a hard reset to see if it starts working without anything extra on it.
If it works then chances are something you've got installed is causing a problem
i did install a new rom, (Duttys DualTouch V3 Final) , and havent installed anything extra on the phone, so nothing is installed
problem was happening before trying the fresh rom option as well.
Are you sure you're using the latest version of WMDC? I had a problem similar to this, but realised i was using an older version that was not compatible with the kaiser/WM6. And believe it or not, WMDC does not receive automatic updates (at least, not for me!)
The latest version is Windows mobile device centre 6.1 I think.
Cheers
Also, check to see if the usb to pc connection is unchecked
i had the last version of it, the old, uninstall and install again trick, did the job
thanks a lot everyone
I have a Kaiser with Alex's ultra clean rom installed. It works great with only one problem I have found so far, no bluetooth profiles. I have searched the foums a couple of timees with no luck. What .cab file needs to be installed to get this functionality. I cannot use it as a bluetooth modem or do bluetooth file transfers but bluetooth headsets do work.
josh
I have this same problem, hoping someone can help. I also use alex's rom.
Is this a known problem with the Ultraclean ROM, or have others not noticed this?
Was planning on flashing to the Ultraclean but might wait to clarify this first.
I have a tilt and flashed the factory HTC ROM and it worked OK there but when I went to the UC ROM I lost all of the profiles. I would think there must be a cab of with them in it as Alex's UC ROM is nothing but a stripped down version of the HTC ROM but I have not tried installing all of the ROMS one at a time to determine which CAB it is.
Not sure if this will help, but the following thread talks about adding Bluetooth DUN to WM5/6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314371&page=3
Post #21 has a file to download. Give this a try and let us know if it works - then we just have to figure out the file transfer.
Actually, I think I need to clarify what you meant by missing Bluetooth profiles.
I have just flashed Alex's Ultraclean HTC ROM and confirmed that I am able to transfer files via Bluetooth to and from my TyTN2, using either my laptop or my N73. So I do not seem to be having problems with file transfer. Bluetooth headset also connects fine.
Don't use Bluetooth DUN so can't comment on that. Not sure what to suggest. I did flash to the new HTC ROM that was released a couple of weeks ago prior to Alex's, and flashed from Orange to the stock HTC a few days before that, so I don't know if that made a difference?
I will restore my device to the base ROM and see if I still have the problem. I install a few cabs and it may be one of them causing the problem. I'll report back...
I restored my device to the base Ultra Clean ROM and still no luck with file transfers. Below is the message windows gives me.
>
The file transfer failed because the receiving Bluetooth computer or device did not respond.
If you sent the file to another Windows XP computer, that computer must be running the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard. If you sent the file to a Bluetooth device, make sure the OBEX File Push Profile is installed.
<
After flashing the base ROM, did you perform a hard reset before installing stuff?
I read somewhere that this helps to avoid further problems. I have done this after every flash, and have not had any major problems yet.
I have been running on the ROM for several weeks now and this is the only problem I have run into. I did a hard reset of my device last night and got the results listed in my reply above. So to answer your question, yes I did do a hard reset.
ANDROID THE EASY WAY
NOW AVAILABLE!
This Process will NOT be quick, but it’s easy and runs great!
Takes about 1/2 hr to set up the first time. It's an All-In-One Flash - Includes Stripped WM, Android, and Compatible Radio.
Includes an AWESOME Android build, Desire Sense - BlueTopia v0.6, by cmylxgo.
FAST, STABLE, COOL as Heck! It is installed on top of my Super Ultra Lite ROM.
Booting into Android is controlled by My Android MortScript.
ROM is based on latest T-Mobile 3.14 with almost everything removed. Not really worth booting into this ROM as it's just used to load Haret to get Android going.
If you want to Flash this ROM then change the Android build to another, you may by replacing the Android Folders on your SD Card with your desired Build.
Please read all below before starting.
Download all files listed:
AutoFlash SuperSport Android BlueTopia 6.exe Grab All 4 Parts (MediaFire Link) Sorry so LARGE!! Only way to include everything. MediaFire allows Multiple downloads at a time. If you have a fast Connection, grab all 4 pieces at once.
Task29 provided by doloop.zip (Attached) If needed
HardSPL3 (Attached) If needed
Unzip Task 29 and HardSPL3.
Clean old Android and any Android helper folders OFF SD Card ie: Android, Media, FilesToBeDeleted, etc. For best results, backup your card, then re-format FAT32.
Be sure your SD Card is re-installed in your HD2.
Flash HardSPL3: Run HSPL3_PKG.exe, or be sure you’ve already done it in the past. Follow the instructions found HERE if you don’t know how. This will take about 3 mins.
Task29: Run Task29 provided by doloop.exe. This should be done before ANY Flash. If running Windows Vista or 7, you must Right Click and Run as Administrator. Be sure your phone is connected by USB before running and follow the instructions. It’s just like flashing a ROM. When it reaches 95%, press and HOLD the Volume Down button until it reboots into Bootloader Mode (Red, Green, Blue Screen). This will take about 2 mins.
Flash My ROM: Be sure your SD Card is installed in your HD2, then Flash your phone with my ROM. Be sure your phone is connected by USB then enter Bootloader Mode (Red, Green, Blue Screen) by Holding Down the Volume Down button while turning on phone. Run the file "AutoFlash_SuperSport_Android_BlueTopia_6.part1.exe". Follow the Instructions until your phone Reboots. This will take about 7 mins.
Allow windows to start up first time. This will take about 1 mins. DO NOT PRESS YES when prompted if you want to Boot into Android. That will come later. WARNING!!! DO NOT PRESS 'YES' YET! This will cause Android to NOT INSTALL! (If this happens, use the File Explorer to browse to the Windows Directory and Run the Cab "SuperSportAndroidBlueTopia6.cab". Be Sure to install it to your Storage Card, NOT Main Memory. Delete this CAB after installation completes.)
Android will now Silently Install to your SD Card. This will take about 4 minutes. Wait for the XDA UC Service End message and tap OK. YOU MUST WAIT FOR THIS. If it does not come up within about 5 mins, then something might have gone wrong. Flash Task29 again and start the ROM Flash over.
You can now Select Yes to the Window asking if you want to Boot into Android. (Future boots will ask this again. Just select YES to boot Android, or NO to stay in Windows.)
Android will now start up. You will see the Green hTC logo. Allow Android to set up the Data Space. This takes a LONG time! Be VERY Patient. Up to 10 mins the first time (Mine was 8 mins, Future boots after the first time boot quickly). It will sit on HTC logo for a LONG time, then blank screen, then final boot.
Future boots will now give you a prompt to allow Auto Boot into Android, or you can select to go into Windows if you are so inclined. You can also use Android-Ubuntu to change the Auto Boot settings to be quicker or slower, or boot into Windows if you prefer, although, there's not much there.
To boot back into Windows, Remove your SD Card and Reboot. To Flash another ROM, enter Bootloader - Hold down the Volume Down button while powering on your phone.
For my ROM WITH Android, Download above.
For those who just want the WM ROM Without Android Built in, Download Below.
This ROM has the following:
-Free RAM: 373.90MB WOW!!!
-Free Storage: 705.06 WOW
-Very Little left of Windows. It really is not usefull for anything except starting Android.
4 Flavors:
NO Radio NO BootScript - Best for those who already have an Android Compatible Radio and want to use their own Boot Program.
AutoFlash SuperSport Android Ready SuperUltraLite NO Radio NO BootScript.exe
With Radio NO BootScript - Best for those who still need the Radio, but want to use their own Boot Program.
AutoFlash SuperSport Android Ready SuperUltraLite w Radio NO BootScript.exe
NO Radio With BootScript - Best for those who have have an Android Compatible Radio but want to use my Simple "Yes/No" BootScript.
AutoFlash SuperSport Android Ready SuperUltraLite NO Radio w BootScript.exe
With Radio With BootScript - Best for those who need the Radio and Want to use my Simple "Yes/No" BootScript.
AutoFlash SuperSport Android Ready SuperUltraLite w Radio w BootScript.exe
To Do:
Create Cabs of future Android Updates that can easily be installed on top of old builds, or on top of my Android WM ROM.
Looking forward to it

And have you thought about using UC_NET instead? As you can see the progress bar during setup, might make it easier for some people that arent familiar with UC.. just a thought

I will look into it. Any idea if it can force install to SD Card? That's the trouble I have with XDA_UC, I don't understand it enough to know how to silent install to the SD Card. I'd love to have a progress bar too.
I will post the WinMo build when I have it working properly. There's an issue with the AutoBoot function that I think might be due to the ROM being SO Stripped.

Really Dumb Noob Android Question
I have to use Outlook (corporate environment kind of thing...not Exchange). What is the best way to be able to synch Contacts and Appts. between Outlook and Android?
That is, so far, the only thing holding me back from giving Android a try. And this ROM appears to be a great way to try it out.
Thanks for any advice.
Can you please make a release of JUST the winmo rom? That way we can simply apply whatever android distro we wish to our SD card, and the download is smaller : D

As far as I know, there is not a way to sync using WMDC. It needs to be done using HTC Sync, or using your google account. To use Google, you can set up an email account as an Exchange Account. Set the Server as m.google.com and tell it to sync your email, contacts, and calendar. For some reason, tasks do not work, so don't check them. If you set up Outlook AND your Phone to use the same Google Exchange account, then things will sync wirelessly WITHOUT having to connect to USB. Be aware this will likely use a little more battery if you allow it to sync often.
To use HTC Sync, download it from HERE and install it on your PC. Your phone will need to be set to HTC sync when you connect it to USB.

Out of curiousity, is it still possible to run a winmo program since the android os is just an overlay? If so, how?
Also, I tried youtube and the video is horribly choppy. audio is fine but video is stop and go ... stop and go... is this a known issue?
Any soft reset shortcut?
other note: tried running angry birds and it doesnt work.

Actually Android is not overlay on top of Windows. Windows starts haret, then shuts down completely, only leaving Android running. The only way is to reboot, and not boot into Android.
My YouTube is really smooth, but that's over WiFi. Haven't tried over gprs.
No soft reset that I know of. Only holding power button and shutting down.
After trying to run AngryBirds the first time, you must reboot back into Android and run it again. It will run second time around.
PS: one thing I've noticed is that after a couple reboot, things seem to get smoother.
Unfortunately, Android isn't perfect on the HD2 yet, but it's getting better every day...

That brings up a good point. If anyone wants, you can delete the Android off the SD Card and replace it with your favorite flavor. The Boot Script should still work, as long as you place the Android build into the folder Android with CLRCAD.exe and haret.exe in that same Android folder, not a sub folder.
awesome rom thank you,...runs very smoothley and first one where everything has worked!! as soon as funds come in you will be my first donation..

Please keep in mind that the Android Build is NOT mine. Please donate to cmylxgo as he is the one who put the Android build together. I cooked the WM ROM, added the Radio, added his Android ROM, and created the BootScript. I just wanted to come up with a way for people to try it that just worked, so I put it all together in one easy to flash package.
Yes, there are still some issues with running Android on WM, but it's slowly getting better. cmylxgo has mentioned a new Android Build coming up shortly. I'll see if I can add it to this thread when it's released.
I've heard about YouTube by a couple of you now. I don't know yet what that is. Not sure if it's My ROM, or the Android Build, but when I find out, I'll try to create a fix.
EDIT: The radio on the first post is the only one I've tried with Android. I'm on ATT, so not sure how that compares to you.

Hehe, I like that. To revert, you would need to flash the HardSPL back to 2.08 (Use HardSPL 3 and select the 2.08 version), then flash the Stock ROM back on. As far as Android goes, just delete it off the SD Card. My ROM simply copies Android from the ROM to the SD Card and sets up links.
Does the camera work in this one? I really want to ditch WinMo and go to Android, but I want to first be sure everything works. I have read in some other threads that camera support is not working, which seems like it would be a deal breaker for many people.

Yes, it does. That's a deal breaker for me too. I do have occasional data connection problems, but I'm almost always on WiFi, so it has not been a huge deal for me yet. It sounds like cmylxgo is working on the data issue along with other fixes with his Android Build. I will likely update this ROM when that happens. I'll also post instructions for those who do not want to flash the ROM again and just want to update their Android Build.
everything works perfectly, I just flashed it 3 days ago and I'm very pleased so far..... and belive me I've almost tried everything around here.... Thank you Super Sport to put all this togheter.
