Hi all. I am having trouble with the tuma wm5 and i am trying to downgrade back to wm2003se. I have the directions listed below but I am unable to pass the first step.
I cant find the
"??Your_DIR??\Downgrade to WM2003SE" folder.
Im sure its simple but its beating me up.
Can anyone help me? has anyone done this before? any help would be greatly appreciated.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
What the wiki means by ??your_dir??\downgrad...... is that you need to download the BA WM5 Downgrade Pack and save it to a new folder. Once you have done that you should be able to follow the wiki instructions.
Why dont you try the new Logout WM5 ROM first. I just flashed it and it seems very stable. Better than going back to 2003SE any day!!
Good luck
I checked out the logout thread earlier today. Im very interested, but this tuma rom has given me so much trouble that was kinda scared. oh well what the hell, ill try it out.
Do I have the downgrade to 2003se first?
my current memory settings on my phone is
storage
total 43.26
in use 32.10
free 11.16
program
total 91.16
in use 23.29
free 67.87
On the tuma upgrade it says I should change my storage total from 43.26 to 60mb, does the instructions on the logout instalation include how to do this?
Thanks a bundle in advance!!!
Should I upgrade to the latest radio and bluetooth stack first? or after?

The bloetooth stack is part of the ROM. When you upgrade, whatever you had is wiped.
The Radio ROM is upgraded independently. I have been using Radio 1.13, which came with my machine, until I finally decided to try 1.15. No regrets so far.
Upgrade whichever you want first...
thanks alot brazilian joe. I also have a qtek 9090...I just got it after someone gave it to me. Im usually a treo user, but when i get this bad boy up and running im probably gonna give my treo to my brother.
Do you recomend any memory settings? some instructions just tell you to set it without telling you how to do it. do i need a special program?
thanks alot
it is not required to change it to 60mb, and it is easier to downgrade if you dont, so for now unless your sure you want to keep wm5 then leave it as it is.
Thanks for the info...im gonna go for the logout rom.
I dont mean to be asking so many questions, but Ive been looking all over
on how to set my memory to 60mb and all i get is brocken links. can someone help?
the closest ive gotten is this but i cant find the Repart_DOC.exe file.
Setup the Storage size to get a full 60MB and not 43 MB
Copy Repart_DOC.exe from the "Preparation\DOC repartitioning tool" folder to your device and launch it.
Set size of Extended ROM to 128 kb (or a bit more, if you want a NOT working extended ROM)
Press "Format now!" and wait until it is done (A few seconds). You will see a message that it is done.
Soft reset.
You will get an error message about your storage, just press yes and wait a few seconds.

Ok... I want to upgrade my PDA2k, but am a bit on the chicken side. Has anyone created or cooked a COMPLETE ROM for the PDA2k that they can post a download link to?
I can do the flash myself, but don't know how to cook a ROM and don't have the tools. I would appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks!
ROM Upgrade
Read this site. It's all here.
This FTP site has the ROM for Blue Angel. I used this one to upgrade my PDA2K. Works much better than the released version. Only problem is with sound after using the built in MS PocketPC CLOSE command; just don't use it, use another program like "Launcher" that has it's own CLOSE command which does not cause the problem.
Here is the FTP link: ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/BlueAngel_Roms/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom/
ChrisSpera,
Can you post a reply once you do the upgrade? I'd like to do it too, but I'm not as sure as you are on what to do. I also have a PDA2K from the US and would like to know how it goes.
Thanks,
Tom
Well, I got a little help from one of the patrons of this site, and I did get my PDA2k flashed with the 1.40 ROM, 1.12 Radio, and am working with a somewhat baked extended ROM. I've actually been tweaking it most of the day.
If you're using Cingular with your PDA2k, make certain that you grab the Cingular settings file from Club i-mate. You'll need those, as the settings in the SX66 ROM I used aren't quite right, though they work. Applications that automatically dial out via GPRS will not function correctly with the Connection Settings in that ROM. I am working with the guy that helped me to test the fixed connection settings, and when they are fixed, I'll let you know.
If you're using T-Mo, then make sure you get THOSE settings from Club i-mate and use those instead.
All is good, though! It works! I did have one hiccough, though; as my PC lost connection with the device BEFORE any flashing started. I bounced the box, leaving the device in the cradle, and was able to pick it back up from the beginning without any problems.
The device seems snappier. It connects to the PC faster, and boots faster. Pretty cool all told!
Thanks for the feedback! I hate to say this but I already started. It's been pretty slow in the office today, so I said...what the hell...and went for it. Wish I knew about the tmobile thing though. I'm just finishing the upgrade.
Where do I put the tmo information? Or, what do I do with it?
Tom
Chris,
What version is your extended ROM? Mine is 1.22.162 WWE
BTW, mine had the same problem with losing the connection. It's happened twice now. I updated my radio and the same thing happened. Strange.
Tom
I am using the SX66 1.40.110 (i think) version of the extended ROM.
If you go to the support area on club imate, and click on the Operator settings link in the support downloads area, you should be able to find a download link for a CAB that installs T-Mo connection settings. download it and use it to create your connections settings on your device.
I downloaded it and installed it. Didn't find it real helpful. I still had to go through everything to get mms and email setup. Oh well. Thanks for the tip though.
I've had it up and running for the past 24 hours and while I think the OS works a bit better I can't see a huge improvement. The phone is more responsive though.
Any notes on changes would be helpful. I did notice that the BT connects had a strenght signal now, which I find really helpful.
Question: Was this upgrade supposed to do anything to the extended ROM? Because the version is the same as before.
Thanks,
Tom

I just comprehended your post. Sorry about repeating the question when you already answered. How, or why, should I upgrade the extended ROM? I take it the upgrade I just did did not put the upgraded files in the extended ROM?
Tom
The extended ROM, which is about 16MB in size holds the custom software that comes on the device. You don't have to upgrade it at all. You can leave it be if you're happy with the software that's there.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the upgrade that was just performed by you and I install the new files into the ext rom automatically? Or, do I have to do it manually....copy the cabs from the laptop to the ext rom?
I've just been reading about cooking an ext rom and I'm going to give it a shot.
Tom
that depends on the files the update contained. Look for *.nbf files in the temp folder you launched the update from. What was in there? MS.nbf is the OS, radio.nbf is the phone and nk.nbf is the extended ROM.
I think I screwed something up. radio.nbf and nk.nbf were in the temp file but MS.nbf was not. Was it in yours? I believe I pulled the same file as you did from the link provided but there's no mention of it in there.
I also took a look at my extrom folder and none of the files that were listed in the link are in there nor loaded. I guess I'm getting things confused. Did you copy all the cabs into the extrom folder then run BAUpgradeut.exe? I just ran BAUpgradeUT.exe and thought they'd copy them over. I think I was wrong.

Hi
Did you carefully follow WM2005 -> WM2003 process described in wiki ?
It's very important that you resize, reformat ExtROM and do some other stuff before flashing back to WM2003.
Good luck
i have the same problem.. since octobre without solution
Hi
I ask again.
Did you guys restore your ExtROM correctly ?
(using Repart_DOC.exe tool)
GO to wiki -> blueangel -> blueangel WM2005 page -> how to downgrade....
Good luck
hi robal
I tried but when i use Repart_DOC
I set size 16384 or other sizes but if I click format now, the error message pops up"
Create handle failed.
Please help. Thanks!
Hi
Maybe You forgot to do as described in point "3" of downgrade process :
Prep your WM5 device by formating Storage and Hive.
Press Power + Softreset, and when the colored stripes (well, this is the bootscreen )shows on the screen.
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
Quickly press Record+Camera before the versions appears at bottom right
OR, press Power+Softreset+Camera+Record at the same time.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
Quickly press Record+Windows Media before the versions appears at bottom right
OR, press Power+Softreset+Windows Media Player button+Record at the same time.
Either way mentioned above should work.
You'll see three options; change the second and the third to "yes".
If you have a PH20B device such as MDAIII, QTEK 9090, XDAIIs, PDA2K etc.
You can do that with the camera and the record buttons.
If you have a PH20B1 device such as SX66
You can do that with the Windows Media Player and the record buttons.
If you are done, press the mail button, it'll show a white screen for a while, just wait.
If the bootscreen, aka. the colored stripes is displayed, Wait more, you are booting.
The welcome screen to set up your device should appear soon.

This should've been done when you had WM2005.
I think it's important to do it, before trying to run Repart_DOC (on WM2003).
Any idea ?
If you've forgotten to do it. You probably will have to intall WM2005 again, do it, intall WM2003 and Repart_DOC it. HUh
have fun
DEAR robal,
Thanks for your information. In fact I did everything like you said before. but nothing help.
I know that I have to creat an extended_Rom in order to get it work. (this is not a big deal since we can install manually.
The most imfortant thing is the bluetooth error. Please help me find a sollutin for it. Thanks!
Hi
So you say, you have WM2003 installed with Extrom CABs from some official ROM ? OK
I'm not familiar with this BT failure. Please tell me exactly what ROM are you using ( CE , Radio, ExtROM )
And what version of BT stack you have.
This error is caused by a portion of the Bluetooth memory being overwritten by something else. The people who are trying to help you are right...you need to reflash the device because something didn't work correctly last time.
I had a tool that restored BT MAC-address, but I cannot find it on HDD.
It was sent by imate tech support as a fix for the "bt license has expired" error, so you may try to contact them, or search this forum.
please mamaich if you can find it this will be very helpful
Dear mamaich,
Thanks for your great imformation. I love to get it as soon as you find it. Again, thanks for your pricious time to repond.
Looks Like every body is stuck...I had solved this problem twice and with full success...on ROM 1.4 pls install the Broadcom 1.6 cab and yes...yr problem is solved...

Hi hdubli, a question, what is the ROM 1.4 of the blueangel?
Hey guys, before anything please let me thank you for this amazing site. You have made a complete n00b to a power-user in 2 days flat. Please do allow me to tell you my story. 2 Days ago I got this thing called O2 XDA IIs (HTC Blueangel) and I got it for around 300US$ (Unlocked/New) was not so fond of Windows devices so intended to sell it off asap and get some other phone, was just doing a little R&D on the net to see what all is available for this thing. When I came across to your site, here's when I got so intregued by the capabilities of this thing.
First I intalled the latest ROM for my device, after getting little confidence I installed WM5 with my fingers crossed. Its all done now but have a few things to ask you guys.
1. When you mentioned about the EXTROM you said that you'll have to copy the files on the StorageCard\ExtRom when all I did was copy nk.nbf into the folder called WM5_Pack_V3 and ran the installer. I did run the batch file to get the oper_code from the DeviceData file. It was all done, I was really scared but now am worried did I do the right thing?
The Device Information TAB shows
ROM Version : 5.03.02WWE
ROM Date : 03/02/05
Radio Version : 1.12.00
Protocol Ver : 1337.42
ExtRom Ver : TuMa v1.3
2. It took me long enough to install this what all tweaks should I do to it so that it stays at the maximum bug-free current stage. (Hope you get me)
3. I need the starting screen to display something other then those scary 3 colored lines
Some things that I noticed after upgrading:
1. WM5 It's a little slow, but definately much better looking and show-off value.
2. I have a Wi-Fi enabled ADSL router at home by which I connect the O2 and other devices its working fine on.
Any help/suggestions/comments are welcome.
A brief intro for me would be have worked as a beta tester for many symbian application providers, was a complete S60 geek and am majorly into bikes & bike photography
Nothing said yet?
Im not sure I understand that whole Extrom deal, but what I can say is that the files that were in the extrom folder inside the upgrade pack must be put in the storage card in the same folder, but that is only if you want MMS and have a camera, if not, then there is nothing to do, unless you edit the Cfg.txt to load all your apps and settings after a hard reset. I guess that if you are able to use the device, you did everything ok as far as the flashing goes. it is a little slow, but its come a long way from the first versions, those were slow as hell, thanks to Mamaich and Tuatara and everyone else this version is running great!
as for the 3 color bar start up screen, there is nothing you can do about it...
Yeah I really forgot to thank Mamaich and Tuatara for their awesome work, now I am really scared as I dont like the slow response and am unable to downgrade. ActiveSync shuts down whenever I try to run the MaUpgradenoID.exe file activesync stops and it is giving errors in connecting, gets DC frequently. And moreover the Manufacturer supplied upgrade is also not working it gives a CountryCode error. Am really confused and scared now what to do?
Well I did not get any help but with loads of tinkering I got the thing done, I wanted to know why was WM5 so slow, otherwise the interface is loads better then the current CE I am using.
I have the Cingular version SX66 Blue Angel. I was able to update it without any problems. Usually speed is very different with those who flush the registry and with those who don't. Make sure you flush your registry after you completed the update.
Mine is faster and way more stable than the other version I had on it. Remember to follow all instructions exactly. if there is a link you need to check and make sure you do the format, change the ram size on the device, then upgrade.
There are no instructions on how to flush the registry can you enlighten me on this?

During the flashing process, the wiki instructs the user to do a hard reset
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_HardReset
You should answer NO, YES, YES to the boot questions.
Hmm yeah, I did do that. And just am in the process of downgrading from the buggy WM5. It doesn't work out for me.
and THAT'S where I got problems!
in the manual, it says I have to download my latest favorite ROM version, and FROM that file i should copy the nk.nbf the "DOWNGRADE TO WM2003SE" folder..and that's what seems impossible to me, since the Rom-update i downloaded is an .exe application, and not a .zip or .rar archive..
so how should i get the nk.nbf file out of the Rom-update .exe file..?
help
well some were in the same documentaion it should also say use rar or zip to unpack it (being the exe file).
Pls spend some time in wiki you might find some other answers
yeah i had tried that already back then butthat didn't work either..when i try that it still just starts running the program.. :?
Try these instructions with your exe file:

So I got my phone about 3 weeks ago well the low program memory kinda make it hard to do things I do on my mda so I was wondering is there anything I can do about this or is a different os a better choice? sorry im a ppc newb
xda is a great place to find things.
If you are referring to program memory, or RAM, then you should install the quick page pool changers. Generally 6 or 4 mb is used.
If you are referring to storage memory, you should probably flash another rom.
Wings/Heralds do not need to be cid unlocked, but rather can be flashed using what is referred to as "aserg's method"
When you download a rom, there is a .cab called Aserg policies.cab. Flash this to your wing, soft reset, and then click on 1_UPGRADE_ROM.bat. Follow the instructions from there.
Before you flash make sure to install a fresh ruu.
I'm assuming you know about RUUs and stuff from the MDA/Wizard.
THe best rom right now is the Touch-it for Wings 1.1
But the 2.0 version is coming soon (its already here for heralds), with even more delectable awesomeness.
I'm sorry I didn't go into details I'm speaking on both storage and program but program mostly, I am a newb for both mda and wing since I got both within a week for me and my bro if you could explain a little simpler I would appreciate it. I notice the original rom on the wing is buggy so I think a different rom would be better. how would I go about saving the original rom just in case? Thanks again I'm sorry if you guys get this a lot

Since you have a Wing, I'd suggest trying the Touch It ROM found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332789
Really read the entire process first, read it close and don't skip steps.
Before hand, run PIM Backup and copy the resulting file to your PC.
You can get that here:
http://www.freewareppc.com/database/pimbackup.shtml
I don't know much about the MDA, though.

fzzyrn - is there a reason why you feel TOUCH-IT is the best ROM? It will help if you can share / elaborate / educate. I have installed PDAVIET and it seems to work great as well but I am wondering what is the actual difference between the two besides the extra apps....
Ive been goin gthrough the forums and i saw that many of u could not no sucessfully run Hima DOC tool..i suggest u guyz that
1. Switch to WM2003 (for a while)
2.Run Hima DOC tool
3.Switch back to WM6
I am telling this from personal experience..as this tool was made when there was no WM6 for our Himas (barely WM5)
What you are saying is puzzling to me. What do you mean by go back to WM2003 for a while to run the DOCTool, then back to WM6? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Wouldn't flashing the WM6 ROM over the WM2003 repartition the ROM space, so negating the changes done with the DOCTool under WM2003?
By the way the DOCTool is working under WM6 for me perfectly. The only problem is it is giving an error message, about beeing unable to do it's job, but it is doing it anyway.
No it doesnt defeat the purpose..i ve flashed 10 times from 2003 to WM6..(for STK)...and its still the same..I ve run this app widout ANY kind of error
WM2003
Hi,
I've upgrade my ROM to WM5, but unfortunately I just have 14Mb memory.
I wanna upgrade my memory to 30Mb.
Would you give me the WM2003 firts just to increase my memory.
Thx & Rgds.

well, not exactly - Buzz' DOC Tool is designed to run under WM5 only! One cannot predict what it will do to your Hima, when used under PPC2003...
but i have run it in WM2003..and ive had 2 PM regarding the sucess of this tool
@jhovie
u can download WM2003SE roms from here :

I used the tool in WM5 and was able to increase the memory.
Done it also to my wife's XDAII and also successful and no need to go back to PPC2003.
HIMA DOC TOOL -Switch back to 2003 for a while
Switch back to 2003 for a while to install HIMA DOC Tools. I had been trying to install HIMA DOC TOOL for days, on my WM5 HIMALAYA, but with no success. I even tried to install it using WM6. However, storage remained 14 meg, instead of 30 meg. Finally I came across this thread, and actually installed WM2003, and only then HIMA DOC TOOL worked perfectly! then I installed WM5 back, and my storage memory remained 30 megs instead of 14 meg! that's great! thank you all guys!
works fine on wm5
i've tried running hima_DOC after i upgraded from wm2k3 to wm5..
it works fine, i got what i needed (30.53MB)..
after that upgraded again to wm6 and doesn't need to use the hima_DOC again (just use it once on wm5)..
hope it's informative enough
Yes you are right, DOC tool work very well in WM5

No, there is a DOC tool for WM5/6 but it's been around since 2004 in older versions. This is a quote from an older Must-read:
At the moment it MUST be run under WM2003!!!
That means, YOU MUST DOWNGRADE FIRST.
thats what i've been trying to tell here
I work with HIMA DOC tool in WM2003, it was successful to increase the storage memory. And I upgrade my system to WM6. And also successfully. But I try to decrease back the memory storage to 14 MB in WM6 and I am failed
OK, you're right, it's Binary0 partition backup tool, which has to be run under WM5 and above only... Hima DOC Tool should run OK on PPC2003, too
I've never tried to run DOC tool to increase EXTROM size, I did try to find old forum messages about perhaps command line options or so but can't find it.
Is there anyone who actually tried it and can tell selangkahlagi exactly how to do it? Including DOC tool version? Selangkahlagi, you could of course try by sending Buzz lightyear a PM, although I haven't seen him here for quite a while. You can also try to contact him on http:\\buzzdev.net
Maggy thank for your advice
If you find the solution, and I'm pretty sure you will, please report it back both in this thread and in the 30MB Storage sticky. In general I don't like cross-posts, in this case it can help others with the same wish.
