I downloaded the newer version of GMM and it won't install on my Kaiser. I get the following message: "Installation of GoogleMaps_compressed.cab was unsuccessful." Has anyone been successful in installing this verison?
I had the same problem. When trying to download straight from Google to the phone, I got the message. When I downloaded the CAB to my PC, then dragged the CAB onto the phone, then installed the cab - all was fine......
Interesting. I just had the same sort of experience. I used the following link to download it to my desktop.

I got google maps 2.0.1.27 working on my kaiser. Install app (posted by motocrossmann in this thread) OVER Google Maps version (2.0.1.18) I already had installed. It installed ok. Perhaps many are having problems because it will only allow you to upgrade from version 2.0.1.18 (just guessing). Hope this helps.

The 2.0.1.27 was the one most people couldn't install so that 2.0.1.28 was a fix for this.
This is KDZ_FW_UPD application translated to English. Also it has the fix for disabled buttons included (so you don't need to use Windows Enabler) and it has a few more options.

Leave it set to DIAG for normal flashing. Also check that you have MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser and .NET Framework 3.5 installed before flashing.
There is some information about it in 4pda.ru forum:
DIAG - standard flashing mode for phones which are turned on.
EMERGENCY - mode for flashing phones in Emergency (Download) Mode.
CS_EMERGENCY- same thing, but appears to be for non-working phones.
Use last one only in worst case scenario.

Do you think that it will be a problem during flashing with KDZ?
I've tried to flash my LGP509 with this program but it keeps crashing on me. Tried it on two different Windows 7 computers with the same result. Is there a walkaround and does anyone here have advice? I'm getting frustrated and my phone is bicked

Im having problem using the kdz. Whenever I update my gm730, the computer keeps shutting off, not finishing the update. What do you think is wrong with it? I first used Lgusercstool. That's when i bricked my phone.

what if i have .net framework 4.0
Sometimes i think there are idiots at samsung. Every firmware upgrade is a pain in ass. Right now JVH was released for my i9000 and i pressed upgrade on kies, and what did i received?

i finally have got kies working and it finally shows me an update and i also got the dll load fail
Same problem for me, tried twice, failed twice.
Hard to reboot after firmware upgrade fails, really waiting for answers of experts

don't know for sure if it helps, but i saw in some other forum that you have
net compact framework 3.5 (or higher version) installed.
so check if you got it or else get it from site below

I got a weird problem. I'm on stock 2.2, and i saw on the forum that there was a v10d release in Denmark, so i thought I would download.
The download goes well, and it tells me to tab the message in the statusbar to install the update.
But when i press the button the phone boots up in Clockwork Recovery, without installing anything?
I rebooted my phone, and there was no update installed.
But now I'm stock with that goddamn message which tell me to install the update, and i can't clear the statusbar.
Has any of you got the same problem? And any of you got a solution?
Is it possible to "delete" the update, so i at least can get rid of that message?

i have updated my hd7 to 7.8 the cab method, but the lock and wallpaper doesn't work anymore and its software version is still 7.5 and its OS is 7.10.8858.136 i have tried to re install the update but with no success the error i usually get is 8018004d which from what i have read its a problem with the language packs i have tried all the languages with the re install of the update and still no remedy does anyone have any ideas what it could be please.
Have you tried to update using Seven-Eighter?
It's easier and safer. Just don't forget to select all installed languages to update.
issues with my update as well
I updated using the seventy-eighter program and thought it was great. However, I noticed some issues after the "full" update. I noticed that several apps would not run and now the only thing I can do is make/receive phone calls. I can get text messages, but it closes when you try to answer them. I also can't enter an account for email or anything else.
I am not too pissed off since I did push the updates (was getting the 80180048 error messages) and I will try to revert back to an earlier version and start over... just don't want the same thing to happen again.
What about custom ROM? I'm using Dynamics 2 and it's great.
I have done the update but the link for lock and wallpaper dosent work and its still windows phone 7.5 but says 7.10.8858 when i did the update i forgot to install the language packs i have since tried to install the languages again but with error code just using he languages listed on the phone now i tried installing all european languages with a differant error code its bugging me now even tho its still fully operational with just two minor problems but would like them resolved if any one has any ideas what it could be i welcome your reply

i have used seveneighter tool to upgrade my HD7 to 7.8 by selecting the English UK knowing that i had English USA - it did not work other wise - but now, i am not able to run many applications such as email, sms , wireless, about etc.
i did restore the backup i had but did not solve the problem; still not able to use any of the applications
any one can help?

the problems i had i have now resolved i re updated starting at 8779 installed the os and languages wich it said it completed but everything stayed the same then i updated to 8783 which failed then updated to 8858 with both os files and lanuages which it completed then after re boot had a louu on the about screen and it had updated to windows phone 7.8 and my lock and wallpaper worked everything was fixe i even have bing wallpapers and new theme colours i suggest you try the same via the seven eighter tool and let me no how you get on

so, no luck yet!!
i have got the same problem after updating to 7.8 on my htc hd7 messages dont open wifi and some settings options wont open at all....anyway to rollback...i am an amateur...so please explain how to rollback step by step...it wud be gr8 if anyone cud help thank u...m missing my phone

I have the same problems on mu HTC HD7 (T-Mobile) . and your post didn't help me. Could you clarify what kind of languages did you check to install correct 8858?

i just installed dutch english and spanish try doing what i said and instal them languages thats how i fixed mine

when I try to install with english(US) I've managed to update my phone to 8773 but installation of next update show me the error.. see attached file.
but I don't get any error message when I install english(UK) or for example russian but and wifi, lock screen and other application don't still work.

have a look what languages are installed wen i did mine i forgot the languages and just used the os files but when i fixed it i just installed the languages that were still installed on the device after the update also i did mine via cab update your attached image looks like you mite b using seven eighter tool which i have no idea how to use my device is locked so i couldnt use it and mite not work the same way sorry but worth a try

I've managed to fix my problem. SevenEigther couldn't install correct english(us). when I've get my error I installed english manualy via "WP7 Update Cab Sender". Then I run SevenEigther again to continue update.... and Now I am happy I have 7.8 on my phone!
