Qtek's version of the movie Terminal - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I am considering changing my name to Victor Nabrovski. I have a Qtek 9090 on Orange (very strange I know). My ROM Version is 1.40.00 WWE and ExtROM version is 1.40.147 WWE. Now I have been informed that I require a rom upgrade to use blackberry connect however nobody will allow me to use their rom updates!
When I try to register on the Qtek site, it tells me that my IMEI number is not a valid Qtek phone - I am perplexed as to how their branding landed up on my device and box then! Orange won't allow me to download it for the same reason and they won't even provide me with support for this phone - even though a dealer sold it to me on this package (ie 9090 on Orange contract). The dealer was online and provides no support of this type and keeps referring me to Orange, who refer me to Qtek, who won't accept my phone as one of their's!
I am relatively new to this all but please can somebody help me in this respect - what is the best step forward for me?

here's a link to this sites ftp

you will find the files you need on the ftp or in the forums and all the info you need on the wiki
good luck

Thanks for that - tell me, did you get blackberry connect working through Orange? I have read that unless you buy a Blackberry device from them that they will not turn it on for you. Is this true?

Installing Blackberry Connect

Hi, I have done a lot of searching on this topic, but haven't been able to find anything definitive on the best way to install blackberry connect. I am about to pick up a Siemens SX66 (Cingular version, but will be using on Tmobile) and want to make sure that I will be able to get the blackberry functionality to work.
I have a few questions/comments/observations that I would love to get everyones feedback on. If there something out there that explains how to get it working, I am sorry and please feel free to point me in the right direction.
1. My understanding is that the blackberry connect software is in the extended rom. So far I have been able to find the following cab files which I believe have the blackberry software: htc_pocketpc_tmo_germany_2.0.0.25-18.cab, HTC_PocketPC_TMO_Austria_Germany_Load_Working.cab and htc_pocketpc_tmo_england_2.0.0.25-18.cab. Not sure what else is in here, but it looks like the blackberry client is there as well.
2. If I use one of those roms, what language will the software be? Will have to use the tmobile UK version for english?
3. I have been reading about people have problems with the phone rom. These are post from a while back, it seems that the UK blackberry client need version 1.0 and the german version need 1.06? Is this correct or can I use the lasted phone rom?
4. Is there any limitations on the System Rom or Extended Rom? Do I need a specific version? I want to make sure I have english on the device though.
5. Let's say I do get all the right software. Is there a problem in the US where Blackberry won't register Blackberry Connect PINs? I was reading in another forum that someone was having a problem with this on their SX66 and also I am upgrading from a Sony Ericsson P910a where I couldn't get my PIN added to Blackberry servers.
The main reason I want the device is to replace my blackberry and this is extremely important. Other functionality is awesome, but secondary as I need to make sure I have access to my corporate email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
There are 2 threads in the blue angel section that have Blackberry connect ih the title. Might be of help.
Thanks saw those posts after, I figured the info would be in this section. I posted some questions there as well, but any help would be appreciated. Not sure if this is going to work....oh well..
To the best of my knowledge...
NOBODY has been able to make the BB Connect software work on SX66 on Cingular.
I've all but given up. Maybe WM2005 will be different...
Crap, though I take it the problem is Cingular not the phone right? Do you know if anyone has been able to get it to work on T-Mobile? What is the problem you are having, is it the PIN / IMEI registration issue?
that's certainly a part of it...
pin/imei, software (nothing supported). The blackberry connect desktop software for XDA2 is a couple years old and does not let you change the PIN.
No way to configure, so you're hosed. The O2 software on the pocket pc is also locked to an O2 blackberry APN. No way to change that either.
It's possible that somebody somewhere has taken the T-Mobile German MDAIII software -- and somehow obtained the T-Mobile desktop software -- and translated both --
but I doubt it! Definitely not to be found anywhere on this site...
Of course, I'D LOVE TO BE PROVEN WRONG, as this has been the biggest issue for me since I got this bloody device.
Bottom line: either use the crap XpressMail redirector product that Cingular offers, or use IMAP/POP on a "pull" basis. Neither way works well. We're screwed until Cingular steps up to the plate or until some brave soul on this board saves us all!

Umm i hate to say this but also that PIN number is alos tied to a carrier, and RIM will NOT release that PIN number to be used on another carrier's network, i know, i am a data support rep with Cingular. if you want something just like the Blackberry then go pay and get the GoodLink solution, otherwise i wouldnt complain about something free that cingular offers, I use it and i agree it isnt the best but works pretty damn well considering it FREE!!! for the PErsonal Edition. Besides, if you wanted to use the BWC (BlackBerry Web client) it isnt exactly Push either, the only forms available are the Redirector and the BES, but considering Congular is offering a solution for FREE i woulnt complain if i were you. If you wanna get mad at not having that solution get mad at RIM not Cingular...... :!:
Re: that's certainly a part of it...
Well I have the desktop software in english and just installed the german software on my sx66. I think I got it to connect but its hard to tell. Iwonder if there is any other software out there....

Damm, I actually just found the software for 2.0 software for Tmobile UK. Now it only gets an IP address for two seconds then looses it. I think its the same problem I had with my p910a I can't get the server to recognize it.
Please prove me wrong!
Figure out how to make this work, and you'll be the hero of every Cingular / SX66 user on this board!
I am getting much closer now, I hacked (hex edit) one of the dll files to point to an IP address of 206.51.26.192 instead of 206.51.26.189. I know the .192 is the right address from my old blackberry. Now I actually stay live on the APN with an IP address and everything, where before I would get one for a second and get kicked out. I think it's a matter of registering it now. If anyone wants to try this dll, replace the one in the windows directory. Also I will upload the version of blackberry connect I am using... Please try as well...
Here is the dll I mentioned...replace this with the one in windows directory
Seem s like you are getting somewere on this issue.
Feel like writing a How to so that we can post it on wiki?
If you need help PM me I can also move what ever files that you like on the FTP site.
Thanks, just haven't gotten it to work totally yet, but that may just need a call to Tmobile to ask them to set it up. I have made progress in the fact that my blackberry.net apn now stays connected, where before it would disconnect after a minute or two. I think I am half way there. Need some more people to play around who have tried before to see if they get anywhere...
Can you also post the desktop software version you're using?
There hasn't been a recent posting of the BB Config software in quite some time...
Thanks!
It's too large, check the ftp server. look for somethign called bb_desktop_sw_mda3_20.exe It's up there somewhere.... poke around uploads as well...
Oh wait... I got it from tmobile directly, hehehe...

So you're using the German version?
Make it work, and I won't care what language it's in!
I agree, first I tried the german one, before I found the Tmobile Uk one. Did you try downloading everything and installing?
yup...
still can't make it work on my end... although I haven't changed anything in Hex...
Try the dll I fixed up also, let me know if it makes any difference....

UPDATED ROM XDAIIi - 1.11.170 with Radio 1.04.00

o2 have just released the above. I've upgraded my XDAIIi to the latest version.
The only problem I'm getting is with Blackberry not connecting to their server. As it's past the helpdesks bedtime I'll give them a call in the morning.
Where you got this ROM?Can you share it !
here we go....
http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_soft3.html
I am new to this web site. The upgrade instruction keeps reminding everyone that the upgrade file is ONLY FOR O2 sold in UK and Ireland.
I live in US, but I bought my O2 from Indonesia. Would I have problem if I upgrad my O2 ROM using the file? :?:
If you don't plan on using Blackberry, then you may as well use the following:
ftp://xda:[email protected] XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.04.rar
It is just a previous ROM with the 1.04 radio instead of the 1.00 O2 insisted on using.
Have a look at this posting as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=35280
looks like o2 are having major problems with 1.11.170 and blackberry. I've spent most of the morning on call back from o2 tech support trying to get the blackberry service re-initialised after flashing the ROM.
From their end, everytime it tries to send the service book to my XDAIIi it keeps getting errors and I can't get an IP address from the DHCP server.
As a test I've re-flashed the ROM to 1.11.169 and was able to re-initialise and send emails from the XDAIIi.
I have again re-flashed the ROM to 1.11.170 and have NOT been able to connect to the blackberry service.
looks like I'll be going back to 1.11.169 for the time being until o2 manage to sort out this problem.
Just had anaother conversation with o2 tech support and they are aware that there is a major problem with 1.11.170 and are likely to pull the software from the website until they have a fix. The have advised me to re-flash back to 1.11.169 and use the calendar work-around until they release another update.

If they want to get the software sorted why don't they give a copy of the Rom to users like us that may be happy to try it out to see if it works in the real world, rather then dropping software that doesn't work, looks like two in a row for them not gd at all.

I think that I was the first to report the problem this morning.
Seems that the problem is when you try to connect to their DHCP server to get an IP address, which it sends to your XDA but for some reason the XDA is not storing it and therefore the Blackberry server never gets a handshake to confirm your allocated IP address.
This then stops the service book being sent from blackberry to your XDA, hence no connection and no email.

I think this Rom update is not much neccessary.
About radio 1.04 we have already found somewhere in this site this radio version
About Rom 1.11.170, it is only a name and we already know that we can modified Extended Rom of O2i and named it whatever we want
Thanks

at least someone answer just like me
Looks like the 1.11.170 ROM has been withdrawn by O2. All you can get is 1.11.169. No hardship for most of us as we don't use Blackberry which is the only reason for upgrading to 169 or beyond. My opinion is that the "stability issues" they keep fixing are because of the O2 crap anyway, I've removed it all and have no problems with my 2i.
If you don't use Blackberry, don't upgrade past either of the modified 162 ROM found on this site.
Merry Christmas all,
PUG.

o2 Tech Support just called me to confirm that there is a problem with the Radio Version in 1.11.170 and authetication with the RIM blackberry server. They have now escalated the issue back to HTC and RIM to sort out between themselves.
Happy Xmas.
I am at the point ready to upgrade, but I notice something:
The upgrade software shows that the upgrade will upgrade my XDA from
Device CE image version: 1.11.00
Device Extended image version: 1.11.923
Device Radio image: 1.00.00
to
Device CE image version: 1.11.00
Device Extended image version: 1.11.162
Device Radio image: 1.04.00
It seems that my "Device Extended Image version" is higher than the upgrad software. Does any one know about this?
The version number is lower because you have the aisan rom on your device and the 162 is the O2 version number. They will be as good as each other, they'll just have slightly different software installed. If anything, 162 is the one of newest ROMs available. If you're happy with the current extended ROM, just delete the ms_.nbf and the nk.nbf. This will allow you to update just the radio version to the latest 1.04.
Hope this helps.

QTEK 9100 doesn't connect to Wifi

Hi
I bought a QTEK 9100. The only problem I have is that WIFI is not able to connect to WAP. I bought it in Nanjing (China). I read in some pages that wifi is disabled for chinese market (is that true??)
Does anybody knows the proper English ROM that solves the problem?
I visited ftp://xda:[email protected]/ but I don't know which one is the proper one.
Another question I have, is it possible that this problem could be something related to the hardware or is just upgrading the ROM?
I will really appreciate BIG HELP
by the way, I'm not used to this kind of device, so a detailed explanation will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Well, I haven't heard that either (about CN market devices), but you can flash it with any HTC Wizards ROM.
Qtek 9100 = O2 XDA mini S = T-Mobile MDA Vario = many others, so their ROMs are interchangeable.
Yesterday, I've changed my i-Mate K-JAM ROM (v2.16) with a newer O2 XDA mini S (2.21) and it works fine.
That one you can find here:
ftp://[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/o2/Xda_Minis_Upgrade_v2.21.4.101.exe
Before you go and flash your device (which is a risky procedure even with an official ROM) could you tell us a bit more about your problem:
Can you turn WIFI on? There should be a flushing blue light when it is on.
Are there any hot spots / wifi networks in your area, and are they open? Some times a network can block devices based on their MAC address. The network will still appear open (no need for WAP key) but only authorised devices can connect.
Whose WAP service are you trying to access? I know that some cellular providers only allow access to their WAP portals from phones purchased from them (something about special configuration, not sure).
If the answer to the first question is YES, then ROM is not your problem, so don't bother flashing the device.
Any way, good luck.

HTC Blue angel/Xda IIs question

Perhaps a weird question from a newbie - but please bear with me.
I purchased a O2 branded HTC (the O2 Xda IIs). The devices is unlocked and I can use any SIM card in it.
How do I "remove" the O2 customisations from this device? When a hard reset is performed a number of apps and settings (esp setings) are made which I find very annoying. For example, wireless connection is a mission. IE only want to connect via a UK dialup number etc.
Basically I'd like to get this thing to have a default WM2003SE installation, sans the provider's stuff. Is this possible, and if so, how?
Thanks

HTC p3600 "Navigation CD" will not install GPS ROM on my device!

I have bought an HTC p3600 from Expansys in the UK with a UK Vodafone pay monthly contract. It came with the Navigation CD to install the GPS enabled ROM. The CD will not allow me to install the software on my device. When I get to the 'Auto Detect' stage of the on screen instructions and click the Detect button I get this message 'The device connected to the PC does not appear to be a HTC P3600. Please make sure the USB cable is connnected on both sides and that ActiveSync has recognised the phone and press <Retry>'. The device is connected and I have just succesfully synced it with ActiveSync (version 4.5.0) which gives the name of the device as 'HTC p3600'. 'Retry' produces the same message. I have tried several times. Note that my HTC p3600 is now fully set up and in daily use i.e. I did not try installing the CD immediately on receiving the handset. What can I do? I am aware that the ROM upgrade is available on the HTC website for download but I am worried about installing it from there in case it infringes my contract with Vodafone/erases Vodafone software that is essential to my connection.
If it's that essential to you to maintain legal support from Vodafone, then LET them handle this issue for you. You've described the problem well enough, even for them, to get working... That's what they're there for; what you f***ng pay them for!
But if you're brave and don't mind doing some more manual labor (only having to set more system settings manualy; like SMS-setting, internet settings, etc), just go ahead and install the official HTC GPS-ROM in your language: that should work just fine, unless Voda has cripled your device with some curious lock on the ROM or so...
As for 'cooked' ROM's: there is a great community right here to help you out with trying out some 'custom' stuff
What you still might try in your current case is to get to bootloader (see here on the Wiki for instructions) and then try too flash again...
(However it does sound like you're following some strange custom setupapplication which does some crazy things)
thanks
Apologies for submitting thread twice, oops. Thanks Moaske for your advice. I will pursue the Vodafone option first but failing that I will follow your suggestions. I don't mind getting my hands dirty.
I think you can basically do what you like with the phone with regards official HTC SIM's because you bought a non Vodafone branded device with a 'stand alone' Vodafone contract via Expansys,
So, essentially, your beef is with Expansys who provided the device, not Vodafone who provide the service, but don't yet officially support the P3600 (though they are planning on releasing it as the VPS Compact GPS at some point).
If the CD provided won't install, either the CD image is faulty, or the P3600 itself is faulty. You need to talk to Expansys customer services.
Don't worry about losing your settings with a ROM update- HTC have a small configuration program available to download on their site, which does all the configs for you. It is also quite easy to enter them manually, and there are a number of sites that publish the settings for all the operators.
