Cing folks Molski 2.26 edited for cingular? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

And Molski, hope you dont mind if so i will discontinue out of respect
I have spent the last few late nights taking molski's rom and modifying the extended rom to include the cingular settings. Would anyone else be interested in this rom? This does include all the popular reg hacks (wifi 80211g, a2dp, etc)
This is what i have so far...
Removed:
goodlink
expressmail
replaced Moslki splash screen with cingular
Added:
.net compact framework v2
A2dp improvement reg hack (edited with the right reg key)
Molski performance tweeks left in the rom
Omapclock and Omapclockplusv0.0.4
I also added Wififofum, hitchiker, and 1800message.com's phone call recorder and their pmvault program which will back up sms, pics, contacts, call list, etc. But those are all things i wanted and can remove them...
I have been using it for a few days now and it works great
please give me your thoughts and suggestions, if you want it i will post it on the ftp, if not then i will just enjoy it all to myself

If it is all good with Molski then I say it would rock!!!

Please post.....

since then i have been in contact with another person who has started a similiar project with molski.. this other person and i are working on it... hopefully if all goes well we should have something within the next few days.. we will keep you posted!

please please please
post the rom with cingular custom.

What's the soup de jure? That's the soup of the day!... mmm that sounds good...I'll have that!

Cant wait to try it out

Change is good!

Change is good!

please please do tell where this is being hosted!!!! I think this is an excellent releae to say the least!!!!

its not posted yet.. i had my own personal version that might have had some junk people didnt want, i am now working with Dr. P as we speak on this.. as soon as we get the bugs worked out we will post it on the ftp and let you know

just an update
we are 90% of the way there.... almost all bugs have been ironed out... Here is what is being added:
zoA2DP
ammar_Wireless_Today_Plugin
BT_COM_PORT
TRE
total-comander
WiFiFoFum2
Omapclock_and_Omapclockplusv0.0.4
Wireless.Scanner-Hitchhiker0.4b1
SearchToday
TodayAgenda_PPC
NETCFv2
These here are the 1800message.com programs
PPC2003PMVault *this is an online text/contacts/pics/call log back up
SPWM5CallRec *and this is the call recorder
we have also removed cingular Xpress mail, Goodlink and some other cingular garbage... But it DOES keep the MEdia Net and My Isp settings, as well as MMS settings

awesome if its stable... please post when done..
thanks

so far its solid!!! well that is for at least the 8125... anyone with a different wizard using cingular wanna give it a go? Im just adding the finishing touch's now... and will test it throughout the night.. Im hoping for a tomorrow release..

Is it going to be possible to remove the programs that you listed? Like the Wififorom one, and others? I have no need for those and don't like having them installed on the phone. besides that I am ver excited about this. Does this also remove the cingular branding?????????

I think that there might be two versions when we're done. shogunmark is doing this one with me "of council", critiquing and rendering some advise. So far it's really looking nice. Once done with this we'll probably create a more basic, streamlined version. Molski created the version I've been running with various requests and it's quite nice. It's been two weeks or so and it's quite stable. I've added my own additional reg tweaks to the DP-Molski Extended ROM and they've been imcorporated into the shogunmark ROM along with other's we've agreed on.
Hang tight as I think that it'll be worth the wait.

I also think 2 versions will be the way to go... one 'bare bones' version that includes just a bare version of windows + registry tweaks (802.11g etc.), and a more complete version with all the goodies (wififofum, omapclock, etc).
I for one am excited!!!!

shiiiiiit... i could have done a basic one days ago  but let me finish this project and i will create a stripped down one with the cingular settings and the basic reg edits... would you all possibly want the new omap clock plus in that as well?

I think the stripped down version with the tweaks would be a great feature!! I hate hard resetting mine and then having to do all the tweaks!

well ill put my 2 cents in just because I am interested in this build.
omapclock is such a small and simple program that probably every wizard owner uses, so I say include it in both releases.
also (and pardon me if this is not possible with our device...) will this ROM (complete version) include a2dp?
thanks again buddy!!!

Cingular 2.26 Aku2.3 w/a2dp FULLY LOADED *BETA* **UPDATED**

Here she is folks..... Keep in mind this is *BETA*.. there are still some things that i have to clean up... So go ahead and give it a whirl... This has only been tested on the 8125 G3 unlocked phones, i dont know if it will work on anything else outside of that!!!! So install at your own risk... Dr Puttingham seems to love it, and i think its pretty good. Dr Puttingham is also working on the stripped down version..
Major thanks goes to Molski for providing the core rom and his tweaks, and Dr Puttingham for his input and advice! And everyone else who made cabs for various things found on this board!
So install and give me your comments and suggestions.. and i will better prepare the final version
oh yeah, you need the link
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Other_Unknown/Shogun_A_La_Carte_Cingular_WWE_2.exe
And for the N00bs.. d/l the exe, choose to unpack it to its own folder, then run ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID
**UPDATE**
Myself and faria have been working very hard on a future release.. it is currently in a private beta testing phase.. Anyone that is interesting in checking its current status feel free to check our blog
http://betarom.hypersites.com
Just so's everyone knows ... the install appears to "stall" or "hang" at 94, 98 and 100% so don't be alarmed! DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR DEVICE NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES! Sorry to shout but I'm expecting somebody to think that their computer's locked up and "brick" their phone! (And one really shouldn't be running any apps like Outlook or such while upgrading...)
Look around in the Programs group for folders called WIFI, Tools and 800Message.
Wow, that's great to get a new rom - Awesome! But sorry, not to sound ignorant... can you please explain what the G3 unlock is. I'm running a 64k SIM in my phone, not 3G.
Is the 8125 capable of running at 3G speeds, or are earlier models limited? Is this a hardware or software limitation... I would like to get my card swapped out with Cingular if possible. Thanks for your help.
--JAS
when i mention G3 and G4 its the difference in chips in the wizard, if you boot your phone and get .001 at the end of the ipl and spl numbers then you have a G4 and i dont recommend using my new rom, although i might be able to make an identical rom for the G4 (i just dont have a phone with G4 to test it) And the wizard does not do UMTS only Edge, so no its not capable of 3G speeds... wait till cingular offers the 8525 and you can get 3g
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he is talking about the 3rd Generation 8125 not the 3rd Generation wireless protocol.. Anyone try this ROM yet.. I'm still on Summiter's 2.17 and am not in a situation where I can experiment with my device no matter how much I want to..
Shogunmark, what advantages does this ROM offer up over my 2.17?

Thanks for mentioning the hang... i knew i forgot to mention something.. it was 2am when i finally posted it all
Few Suggestions and Comments
1. I was able to install this rom on a non G3 or G4 chipset and it works beutifully.
2. I would not include Pocket Controller since many people, including myself, don't have that software and thus its useless to me at least.
3. I don't know what program you installed to fully close applications but its a little annoying and puts a red dot in the X. I would recommend instead Smartsky.
4. Nice job including Omap and Omap plus. Very very nice.
5. Amazing job and keep up the good work.
Running it now. All I can say is IMPRESSIVE. This is the best custom rom for the 8125 yet. Thanks!

oh yeah, pocket controller will be left out of the final.. i forgot that it was in the beta.. i just got tired of having to re-install it when i was trying out different cabs and such..
i havent used wclose before, which is the program that fully closes the program.. it is kinda growing on me though
anyway, thanks for your input, i will keep a list of all suggestions for the final. The input is greatly appreciated!
How is this new ROM with dropping calls? I'm using summiter's most recent ROM. The reception is great, but I drop calls like Jenna Jamesson drops panties.

i havent fully tested that aspect.. I mean who makes calls with a phone anyway  ... but this is built of the molski 2.26 rom with the good 2.25.11 radio which i ran prior to this and cant think of where i ever dropped a call with it
Cool. My dropped calls might be the fault of weather panel and flexmail2007. but i've gotten extremely irritated with my dropped calls. I'll give your ROM a shot once you release the final.
Oh and I second the "no need for the app closer software" movement as i'm a wisbar guy anyway.
cant wait for the final of this.... keep up the good work
A little of topic but anyone know when the 8525 will be available in the states.. Is there any link with info on this device.
On your pervious thread you mentioned that you would look into a stripped down version of this. I would like to try it but really dont want all the add ons. Are they removable via the remove programs thing in the settings? Also could you put together a complete list of all the features of this rom...or somewhere that list all the features?
Thanks for all the work!

im an Xbar kinda guy, not free, but used it alot when i use to run smartphones, its a cool little program. But i did like how appcloser will actually close the program from just clicking the x instead of just minimizing.. but at any rate, this rom is for everyone and will be built accordingly to whats popular by use, so if the general population dont want it then i will exclude, or maybe make a cab so it will be easy to install/uninstall.. who knows, just keep up the suggestions!

Dr. puttingham has decided to work on the stripped down version so i can focus on this one.. right now only some of the features are removable from remove programs.. in an effort limit the massive amount of cabs it took to install this i had combined some..
i will compile a full list later today, right now i gotta hit the shower and get to work..
here is the list of what i included:
zoA2DP.cab
ammar_Wireless_Today_Plugin.cab
PPCContactsMgr.cab
BT_COM_PORT (did not install)
TRE.arm.cab
total-comander.cab
WiFiFoFum2.cab
Omapclock_and_Omapclockplusv0.0.4.cab
Wireless.Scanner-Hitchhiker0.4b1.cab
SearchToday.ARM.cab
vxutil.cab
TodayAgenda_PPC.ARMV4.cab
Molski.Biz_Performance_Registry_Tweaks.cab
rar.ppc_arm.cab
Molski.Biz_Customizing_Tweaks.cab
VNC_pocket_viewer.cab (did not install)
Molski.Biz_Stevens_Customization.cab
SP_ARM_504P.cab ~ soti pocket controller
VoiceDial_Button_Customizer.cab
NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab
SPWM5CallRec.cab
PPC2003PMVault.cab
fp7_ppc_en (flash) (did not install)
there is a couple that either did not install or didnt install correctly.. will be a quick fix.. and there will be a MAJOR change coming to this...
Mark, what tools are you using to make your ROM's? I've been trying to use mamaich's (think I got the name right), and although I can extract everything fine, I can't seem to turn it back into the binary file..
Looking to see if you might have any ideas.. I've searched the forums more times than I can count..
Thanks!
Well... nothing personal but I'm staying on with shogunmark's Cingular experiment. Lot's to do here but it's geared more for me. (gee I wonder why!)
OK, let it all hang out!
wclose should be left out of startup (my add in, kinda like it - install by user
smartskey - fantastic - install by user
omap - again fantastic -install by user, perhaps with smartskey
CF2 in ROM - get to it Mark!
I'm with the leaner, meaner ROM myself. This one faster, even with omap left out. molski's tweaks and my additions I think help.
And I like the idea of a Cingular ROM as ... that's my ROM...
Lot's of hard work being done here... respect to all!
Cheers!

Suggestions wanted for when I cook a new Rom

When AKU3.2 gets stable I will make a new Rom, or maybe there will be some adjustments to my 2.26.10.2 Roms if someone discovers something really cool like reducing the PagePool for more free Ram.
But for now, I would like to know what you people think what programs are missing in my Roms.
I DO NOT add programs to it that are used only by some people, I would only like to add programs that are used by almost everyone in the community!
For now, I am thinking of adding the following programs:
For sure:
- .NET Compact Framework 2 (although it requires about 5MB on Main Memory)
- Signed_CameraPatch_ov9650.sa.cab (definitely better then the standard camera driver!)
- MMS Folder CAB file
- 2.47.11 Radio Rom (a lot of people say that this Radio Rom performs better then the Cingular 2.25.11 Radio Rom, read the thread about this Radio Rom here)
Maybe:
- SMSDRFix (SMS Delivery Report Fix), because I use it A LOT (and you all know...until know I build my Roms the way I like them the most!)
- Intent Midlet Manager (although I do not use it myself!)
- PPCContactsMgr 1.2 (for selecting multiple contacts, on my existing Roms there is also a plug-in for "Save as First/Last Name", so also this one looks useful to me)
- Null Keyboard (avoids keyboard pop-up, if you don't use it you also will never notice it, it's not a program, just an option for your keyboard settings)
- SipChange (to set a default keyboard)
What do you guys think?
Regards,
Molski
how about including the cab file that adds mms folder as well?
MMS is generally pretty carrier specific. That might be problematic give that Molski's ROMs are carrier agnostic.
well, the one from molski.biz just gives a generic sample server settings, i think if we can manage to unlock our CID, i wouldn't be so difficult to alter the mms server settings =)
thanks for listening=)
is there any flash player?!? if positive that's a good stuff to be added...

The MMS folder installation has nothing to do with MMS settings, you still need to install (or add manually) specific settings for your provider.
This is a good one, I will add it to the list of apps.

What about WM5torage? That way there's no need for Activesync or looking for a miniSD to SD adapter and a card reader...
At least I use that program a lot... Don't know how useful it is for other people...

In fact I use WM5torage a lot also, but I developed a little CAB for WM5torage and DeviceLock mapped to the VoiceDial button, because that's the way I use it. The file is available on www.molski.biz, I will copy and paste some info of the cab file here:
---------
This program installs the full versions of WM5torage 1.60 and DeviceLock,
including shortcuts for both programs and the DeviceLock Control Panel.
It remaps DeviceLock to hardware button 4, the VoiceDial button (single press).
It remaps WM5torage to hardware button 4, the VoiceDial button (long press/hold).
I made this program because I never use the VoiceDial or Record functions of the button, but I often use DeviceLock (and hate it to have it as an item on the Today Screen) and WM5torage and wanted some quick shortcuts to it (but not on the Today Screen...).
---------
Regards,
Molski
p.s. So I don't think I will put it in my Roms, simply because I would wreck my own installation and have to use a work around myself for WM5torage, so sorry.
How about overclocking, I can't imagine using it as is.

Hi Molsi,
What I would like is a complete *clean* rom as if it came out of the HTC or QTek departments. Might there be a version like that too? Ah, asjeblieft...?
Many thank for you work so far, keep up the good work!
Cheers,
Cacti
pls dnt add OC apps in the ROM,bec some of us use omapclock plus, better to have our own choice of choosing, better put it in the EXT_rom so that incase they dnt like it,they can easily erase it. also if you can add TALKING ALARM,this way better, shouting what's the time already, and SMARTKEY too(oh! i forgot, this already putted in the ROM 2.26.102.
so when can we XPECT the AKU 3? hehehe
Molski first of all thanks for the hard work and great support.
I don't think that you must put any software on the rom.
Everybody has there own "need".
If people want software on it they download it.
The power of the rom is the speed, so please keep it that way.
Thanks (bedankt)
You got a good point there!
Maybe I just will create an "extra" Extended Rom with a few apps in it that are must-have. It's no big deal of flashing an new Extended Rom after a Rom upgrade onto your device
But I am sure that I will add 3 new cab files to my new Roms...the 3 cabs listed in the 1st post (and also maybe smsdrfix, cause I also always deliver my Roms with SMS Notification on and for that little setting smsdrfix is a must-have app ).

You're right...I don't add overclocking because some people do not use it and if they use it there are several ways to do it, so people have to just install this manually.
Talking Alarm is not so useful for me, I am dutch and I doubt that Talking Alarm says the time in dutch
And in the morning I am too sleepy to understand english

My must haves are as follows.
1 Smartskey
2 Total Comander
3 WM NewMenu

Touchflo on official wm6 succsess

Well, I have cooked a personal norwegian touchflo wm6 rom, based on the new official wm6.
Thanks to tom_codons for the released worling oem touchflo.
And i used gollums touchflo fix, and its not activated by a button, but activated by sliding a finger from top to bottom.
Im not gonna release my rom the way its now (if ever), because I did not implement the touchflo fix in the rom, it was installed with a cab after flashing.
And there is alot of work to do with the rom itself.
But, I have the kaiser home plugin, the touch commManager, the touch dialer and the kaiser networkwizard working.
and I have added a few apps like PIMbackup, total commander2, Sun Java, pocket rar, htc audiomanagerand a few tweeks.
Its running very good.
I just have to figure out to change the pagepool so that wont be needed after flashing, and I need to do some regedits.
If anyone have oem regedits, please provide me with a link. Like in.ex not having the cabs deletet after install, etc etc.
Ill start working on a wwe this week.
Ill was thinking making just a few edits and implement touchflo, so that ppl can have a "clean" os.nb to work with. But im sure some more experienced chefs can tune it way better then me
Congrats - glad you got it sorted. Most of the reg edits are in wiki - majority of wm5 ones apply to wm6. If you have problems let me know. As for pagepool look at the thread in elf upgrading - it worked on my artemis rom so i am sure it will work on your herald, pm me if you need any help.
thx man, it has been quite alot of hrs gone by to get it work, thx to many.
Ill post both norwegian rom and wwe when I belive they are ready, and I will give proper credits to all who has helped providing sollutions.
But be careful offering help, I might take you up on that lol

yes ure right, im sorry bout that. but can somebody tell me if there is a standalone touchflo plugin which i can install on my p4350 herald with wm6?
I'd wait for ITJE's release.
I mean, there's a plethora of different ROMs and setups out there, most of the times overloaded with programs you would never use.
An official WM6 ROM with only HTC Home and/or TouchFlo is definitely what most of us are waiting for.
As far as I know, there is no single CAB to install TouchFlo, while the HTC Home plugin is available on this forum (Kaiser version works fine with our Herald).
Hope it helps.

yeah i know i already installed the htc homeplug from the touch i guess with the 3 tabs and i installed the comm manager from touch/kaiser
so bad that there can not be only one cab file with the touch cube in it ^^
but you are right most of us waiting for a wm6 rom only with htc plug, comm manager, dialer skin and of course the touchflo
Well, my rom is very fast and stable for now, but im still missing a few things I want in it.
touchflo is real good, and buttonfree, its just a slide from top to bottom and its activated, Way cooler then having either soft or hardware button assigned to activate. I think I might work on the WWE (english) side by side with my norwegian, I belive I can have it ready this upcoming weekend, but no promise

Have you done some optimizations to the original ROM? I'm just curious, because I find the WM6 ROM a way slower than the WM5 5.4.xxx.
No other languages will be made but english and norwegian, sorry.
Not in the near future anyway, I still have much to learn, and beeing confused by languages I dont know, well that wouldnt go well
I AM NOT, gonna cook on request, add this and that, sorry.
First I want to cook up a norwegian rom, that is like I want it, and im gonna cook a english rom with touchflo, touch commManager, touch dialer, kaiser network wizard, and some small apps that most ppl install anyway.
If ppl dont like, dont download when its up, its that easy
When I have completed what I want, I will look into doing some requests.
But for now, just the 2 im working on.
Oh, and yes its faster, atleast on my herald, so how it works on others I dont know, I should be same, but I dont know...
I have dones some optimizing and done some tweeks so that it has become better, in my opinion...
BTW, using touchflow almost requires that you use batterystatus and overclock the cpu from 201 to 247. I run 260 on mine, and have done so for a long time.
cheers
Wow, really looking forward to seeing that touchflow ROM. My co-worker told me about it and showed me how it worked. Looked absolutely great.
Overclocking a phone seems a bit alien to me as this is my first windows based phone. Guess I still have a loads to learn
Looking forward to the release of the ROM

Oh, and yes its faster, atleast on my herald, so how it works on others I dont know, I should be same, but I dont know...

ok thanks i will also grab the english language rom, no problem for me
with the overclocking i have a question: with which program did you do this? and what you mean with using batterystatus?
I think your doing a great job cooking this rom I got my herald just this weekend and can't wait till you finish it.
I would rather like a dutch rom offcourse, but WWE will do also.
Anyway, nice job Itje!
Regarding TouchFLO - I'm running PDAVIET TouchFLO on a standard P4350 (no overclocking) - runs fine. I think it's bull to say you have to to overclock to make it run nice. Runs smooth as silk here.
/Inc
well, you must think its bull as much as you want. Ofcourse it runs smooth on a pdaviet, Tom is a wizard with cooking, he and many other have done this stuff many times before, and have tweeked their roms to a level I havnt dreamt about or thought of.
The stuff I now know, its knowlege from hackers like him and others, all I have done is putting that knowlege into a rom, so that I can have my native language with some of the features they have provided us with.
Instead of complainting about things I want and dont want in their roms, I cook my own. I decided to share that I could get it to work on a official rom because so many has asked for it (not from me, but asked in general if someone could do it)
AND..based on a official, unmoded os, with touchflo, YOU try to make it run like the touchflo on toms pdaviet roms, your welcome to try, come on and give it a shot, cook your own rom without tweeking it any and just add touchflo, try before you claim that what I say is bull.
Anyway, after I did a couple of tweeks and edits on the rom, It was better, and actually going ok, but when I overclocked it, its a dream to use.
Maybe some day im gonna be good enough to make a rom with heavy apps running on it without overclocking.
But, Im happy I have achieved my goal. I did what I wanted, cooked my own rom, with touchflo and other stuff.
And I decided to share it, so that if anyone who wants can use it and do whatever
Stop being so self righteous ... it doesn't suit you well.

Clean ROM status -Update 3

OK guys. I've got my clean ROM running. So far no bugs but I keep finding things to remove. It runs really fast, too. I also don't have that bug that the Touch-IT based ROMs have with their internet explorer being very stuttery. I'll run it for a week or so (and remove a few more things) before I release it to you guys, though.
Now... If I could just get either BigStorage working and/or was able to merge the extROM with the storage... So far, I've had no success on either. Probably because of the DOC storage system... :-(
Because of the lack of bigstorage, we have a lot of unclaimed space.
Storage memory: 36.28MB (This means you can add your own programs without loosing this space.)
Program memory: 27.00MB when first turned on. 26.xx when it starts using parts of it for caching purposes. (28.xx with some tweaks that I will probably not setup in the final ROM because they will make certain things not work the way everyone else is used to.)
Updates:
Bugs found:
1. Notepad doesn't not launch or open in any way shape or form.
Bugs fixed:
1. The volume slider is acting as an up and down arrow instead of a volume slider. If anyone has any input on what controls this, I'd gladly appreciate the help. Also, tapping on the volume control does nothing.
And a little teaser... There's a little over 300+ packages on my next release of EasyBakeOven... which is why it's taking so long. I'm trying to weed out the useless ones, though.
Mental note: Check out the LGplugin to make it a package.
Disclaimer: Should you choose to flash the released ROM or any of its versions, released or otherwise, you are solely responsible for your equipment. I take no responsibility for any damage caused by this ROM nor by any negligence on your behalf while flashing said ROM. I will provide support to the best of my abilities only and ONLY if you have fully read the FAQ I will later provide, read this WHOLE thread AND the instructions, following them to a t. If I do not answer right away, please do not repeatedly ask me with countless PM's. This will not get me to leave my paying job faster and get me online to even SEE that you have a question. If I cannot answer the question, I will tell you. If it's posted here and I haven't responded for over a week, then post another message reminding me. I probably missed it. It is NOT ok to PM me asking me the same question that someone else has already gotten a response for. Read the whole thread. Other than that, I HOPE YOU ENJOY THE ROM!!!

this sounds really good I've looking and waiting for a good clean rom, and still have not seen a really good one I tried evry rom on here but they all have issues, the best one that I have no issues with is ITJE's touch it light based on the original T-Mo rom, it's just not light enough and the installed touch features are already outdated since new versions came out. so I will be watching you Mr Ivammj..and thanks for your work in advance..
Hi
somewhere I read that the extrom in herald cannot be freed and given to the regular rom/ram like in other devices. (Don't know the source and whether this is really true ... ) The only thing you can do is use the extrom as additional memory and install applications in it.
Maybe you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.phpt=308175
The extrom can be "opened" using winimage on a PC . Then you can put applications in it (but I have not figured out how to do this best) and write it back to the device.
I have never tried it so I don't know if it work or bricks your phone. But maybe this will direct you to the right direction.
Good luck and please post your experiences.

Mine is VERY bare as it's going to be a base to my Kitchen. Too bad I can't reclaim a lot of that wasted space because of the fixed size of the img file on the Herald devices. What touch features are you refering to. The ONLY thing that I've really added per say is a newer version of HTC's X button/task manager and the Cubeless TouchFlo features.

Stock 2.07.401.1 ROM trimmed to Lite

Hello everyone,
OK, here is my first go at ROM cooking.
I was looking for a very basic ROM with only must-have applications inside, so that I can later install the software I *do* use. Eventually I gave up, as all the ROMs and even the Lite'est ones had too much features / utilities. I thought I would then take the latest official ROM available (for stability purpose) and trim it down to minimum elements (for size reduction).
Herewith is what I ended up with:
http://rapidshare.com/files/3829100....25.91_Signed_Ship_trimmed_by_aziraphale_.rar
This in no way can be called a "cooked" ROM, I still know nothing about cooking, but it is a heavily trimmed stock ROM, created by the use of RhodiumKitchen_0.1, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560519.
Thanks Dave for this Tutorial and all the credits go to respective tools' developers.
How to install:
- unrar
- connect with ActiveSync (or loader in USB mode)
(goes without saying Your device must be Hard-SPL'd or modified any other way to allow ROM flashing - search the forum)
- execute RomUpdateUtility.exe
There are some residual unnecessary and/or invalid shortcuts in the Start Menu,
as well as some empty folders, I manually removed them by the use of EveryWAN personal edition - it's free and it's easy to use.
The OS is 6.5 b21887
I have trimmed the following from the stock ROM:
HTC applications:
- appointment editor
- clear storage (can do Hard reset in normal way)
- facebook / engine
- format SD (can't a PC do that?)
- CoPilot + install path folder (I use TomTom)
- birthday
- bookmark
- messaging client (hate it)
- jblend
- jetcet
- manila all
- opera (when You install newer version You end up with 2 )
- sliding sounds
- social networks engine
- streaming media
- tv out
- youtube
- volume control
- google maps (same as with opera)
- setting improvement
- text selection
- wifi wizard
- browser snapshot
- ie6 enhancement
- world card mobile (BCR)
- rss hub
System:
- live search
- wm widgets
- win live
- welcome center
- transcriber
- skymarket
- one note
- remote desktop
- themes except Rock and Republic
- my phone (skybox)
- livesearch
I do not expect this to become very useful to most of the forum visitors/members, but perhaps there is someone out there who have not found his/her way around to make ROMs him(her)self yet, but would like to get the very basic ROM with no extras.
Very hard to define "must have" apps. I personally prefer WM6.1 over WM6.5. Bad thing is you can't install every app\functionality by using CAB's. Otherwise you could create a ROM of around 40MB. Mine is currently ~70MB and is just great for my personal use.
Might be handy to add to the first post that your ROM is actually a WM6.5 ROM
Good luck on the cooking!

You said it yourself - the "must-have" are the ones that can not be added by .cabs and will compromise phone functionality (like the HTC dialer skin will enable video calls, thus must stay)

the "2.07.401.1" implies 6.5, but added to description anyway, thanks
Good effort dude I did much the same a month or so ago with an amalgamation of Ervius Visual Kitchen (so easy) and JoshKoss kitchen. Didn't go as savage on the removal of stuff though, main objective was to get rid of the HTC Messaging
Just tried May 1st 23xxx EnergyROM with MaxManila but it cuts off MP3 playback in standby (a big no-no for me) and hung once already while texting MaxManila is nice though, and the Facebook tab is good. I usually stick to 21xxx but I must say 23xxx is growing on me with the latest build. Gonna try Cell Pro next.
I like the latest stuff but keeping up with it all is a nightmare if you're cooking. Wouldn't mind the latest 2.5 Manila packages and latest 21xxx / 23xxx SYS, also would try cooking in MaxManila, and I never managed to cook in "mark all as read" for emails properly. Need to learn how to hack on Manila. Also I forgot to cook in a task manager haha Ameba is quite nice on the latest EnergyROM. I definitely get the "why cook it in if you can get it from Marketplace / OMarket and auto update it" though, totally with you on that one instead of flashing a new ROM every week. I usually flash a new one every month or so, once I find one I like. But for the last month or so I've been running my own. It wasn't the fastest ROM ever though
It's a lot of work to make a decent ROM, and it's finding the time innit. I'm a big fan of JoshKoss but he hasn't released anything in a while
Anyway good effort dude the more the merrier I say
Also just a quick note I did get the Standby Of Death a couple of times on my cooked ROM. Very rare but still. No idea why. Don't know if it happens with the stock ROM or not.
Would like to know how to totally remove HTC messaging, sometimes when texting via Manila it would still give the conversation view which runs like a dog when you have 4,800 messages hehe
And the speakerphone sometimes screwed up - I could hear the other party but they couldn't hear me.

Before going through the trouble of surgically removing the rudimentary software myself, I have tried a few "professionally" (read: respect, not sarcasm) cooked Energy and Leo ROMs, most of them VERY recent, but I found them SOOO packed with tweaks and features, that it would take me ages just to discover all the extras. I am more on the simplier side, don't fix something which is not broken, but I just HATE Manila (expect a lot of angry protestors here) and I am not big fan of HTC customisations either. Hence was this ROM done and I am so far rather happy with it.
There is no sign of HTC messaging which I can find, and I can install and use only necessary (for me) bits of software.
For "mark all as read" there is a really good .cab on the forum, called "safeboxextender", it works like a charm and I don't mind having to install it separately (i.e. not. cooked-in).
Having come from 1.86 ROM to 2.07 I do notice that device keeps hanging even without being put to sleep, but I can not figure out the dependency yet (I mean so far it looks rather random).

Yeah me too, those guys have spent probably 100's if not 1000's of hours on learning this stuff, then putting it together in a manner that pleases a lot of different people. Major kudos. I sometimes get the feeling though particularly with chefs who release almost every day, for a number of different devices, that the care and testing leaves something to be desired. Quite often more does not = better as you know

Yeah I tried converting that to an EXT and cooking it in but it didn't work I know it can be done though cos a lot of ROMs have it built in. To be honest I don't really have enough time anymore to dedicate to my own ROM so I'm trying out a few others.

Could you release an additional version with a later build SYS (ie: 23XXX or 28XXX)? A lot of people use 6.5.5 or 6.5.3 and there are no Lite options for those later builds.

i'd love to, but....
as i said i am no cook and i only did it for myself and cared enough to share with anyone who'd love to have it "as is".
also, see the respective later-release ROM threads to see how many bugs are there still and ROM-cooking gurus are eliminating them one by one and it's a long and painstaking process. i have neither time, nor ability to do that.
so i guess this is as much as i can do so far.
I've been using the ROM for a few days now and it is great. Everything works perfect. Bluetooth, tethering, wifi, data connections; it all works great with no bugs Thanks for sharring. I love a clean ROM.

very good!
Well I think I have ran the gamet of tezts and this ROM is perfect. It is fast and stable trimmed down well but still offering everything a user needs. I am on AT&T in the states and it works perfect. The only thing I cant figure out is how do I shut of the vibration when using the on screen key board? And can I add a picture mail program to my device? Would it function properly and could you recommend one?

that would be by manually editing registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"ApVibrationOn"=dword:00000000
it is 1 by default, change it to 0 and you are all set

this here i am not sure what you mean?
whatever you add (install) SHOULD function properly, if it would have on a stock ROM,
as i have not made any changes to remaining ROM bits
edit: if you open Albums and select any picture You want, it will open in full screen, tap it, and 4 icon menu comes up, 3rd from the left with 2 arrows > tap this one and there is an option *mail*.
select the account (i would use email) and voila! is that what you were looking for?
Thanks Aziraphale_l I was talking about MMS. I want to send and receive picture mail with text messaging. Right now I cant send or recieve pictures except with email. But of course my friends do not have pda phones so we use MMS picture mail.
I was guessing this is what you said you removed. I looked for arcsoft for 6.5 and I see that HTC is now using "HTC Message" so I will go look for that. Thanks again.

HTC messaging, which I understand handles MMS functionality in our devices, has evolved into... well, something I did not like any more, so it had to go.
I personally don't use MMS, so it is no big deal for me.
Your ArcSoft link below - I see no reason why it will not work, give it a try? You can then share Your findings with the rest of us.
P.S. Battery life on this ROM is the best I have ever seen!
I have tried a dozen ROMs and I usually stick with them for a month or so I guess. They are either lite with bugs or heavy with eye candy and bugs. So far I haven't had a single issue with yours. I think many developers get in to much of a hurry. I appreciate the great job you did on this.
I notice today that to get from one task to another, one program to another or one event to another I use fewer steps because everything is simple and functional. Thanks again.
I cooked in Arcsoft_MMS_5_2_8_45 on mine, after pulling out HTC Messaging, if I remember rightly it worked but it's very rare I use MMS anyway. If you install it afterwards, re-run carrier provisioning (or whatever it's called ... where it sets up your network settings automatically) and it should configure Arcsoft for ya.
Right now I'm running EnergyROM 23xxx from 1st of May but battery is suffering and it crashes a bit, not mega fast either. It is a nice flashy ROM tho I used to hate 23xxx and much prefer 21xxx but lately I'm kinda undecided.
Thanks for the haptic feedback registry edit; works great.
