hiya everyone.
i've recently gotten an o2 mini-s (gosh i miss unbranded kit); anyhow, it has versions 2.21.4.1, etc on it.
i've seen http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47848
is it possible for me to get a nice clean generic version? There's a few things wayward on my device that i could do with:
namely
1 -- when running TomTom, it'll screen lock when i'm navigating (my old pda2k didn't do this)
2 -- When i connect it to 'external power'. the screen brightness doesn't increase (my old pda2k had two brightness settings)
if anyone has any answers that would be utterly brill (my new favourite word - i'm so 90's)

Sorry for asking such fundamental questions but i am new to this site...
I have a Orange SPV M2000 (Blue Angel)
Can I ugrade the rom on this, what will the upgraded rom give me that i dont already have and how do i do this ?
I have looked at the rom pages and can not seam to find an Orange rom, does this matter ?
Sorry if these are basic questions, thank you for your time.
I also have a m2000, was wondering if it would be ok to install the new 1.4 asia O2 rom???
Mainly want it for WMP10 due to the streaming video etc.
Have red some mixed reports about the new rom, is it actually better than 1.31???
ive upgraded my m2000 using the wiki
im basically running the imate roms as im unsure on how to play with the extended rom.
everything went fine without a hitch!
I have an orange SPV M2000, I have successfully upgraded to Rom 1.40 with Radio Rom 1.13
I am a bit of an old hand doing this as i have had a pocket pc since the inception of a ipaq 3630 many moons ago.
What you ask do you get with the updates? well the main reason for upgrading is the increased reliability. far less soft reboots due to lockups.
and a nicer interface with WM10 especially since i have a media center PC and i can automatically synch my recorded TV to the device
anyone needs help with upgrade you can msn me at stuart b ***NOSPAM***@broadbandtap.co.uk

HELP?
I recently had a chance to put all the windows mobiles to the test compared to the current version of windows mobile 2005 that i was using on my Blue Angel Variant ( Siemens SX66 ).
HP for Cingular Wireless currently has Windows Mobile 2003.
Cingular 8125 currently has Windows Mobile 2005.
Siemens SX66 currently has Windows Mobile 2005 Ivan Version listed on my signature.
The HP Windows 2003 is a great unit with old looking menus and display. With the bare unit meaning that nothing is installed on it was nice and clear on the clear on the screen. It was bright and it ran just fine without too much of a glitch. This particulr test unit was done at a Cingular Wireless location in Fullerton, CA. This unit was used by various customer who do not know how to use Windows. Although there was no additional software loaded on the device, there remained a couple second lag when clicking on the Start button as well as running various basic application such as the control panel or memory on the unit.
The Cingular 8125 with Windows 2005 was fast. It responded way faster then than the HP Windows 2003 unit. There were some customized features added in the unit but even so, the unit performed faster than the Windows 2003 model. It was quick to open operation as well as other items I clicked on such as again the control panel and the memory and running application portion of the unit.
Although there has been various version of Windows 2005 for the Blue Angel devices, I found that the version of Windows 2005 that I was using with all the software on my device ran if not the same or faster then the Cingular 8125 that had the Windows 2005 retail on the unit. The menus and the speed of the device that I was using was running almost identical and with minimal programs on my device loaded the start menu in the same amount of time. Receiving calls on my Blue Angel compared to the Windows Pre-Installed Device, it was about the same lag time. There were times when my Blue Angel responded faster and other times with a slight delay. I believe that some of the delay can be related to the changes Cingular might be doing on their network due to some renovations to their systems.
To give everyone on this forum an idea of the difference, I have listed the software I have installed on my device compared to a clean install on the Cingular 8125.
Voice Connect (Device Installed)
TCPMP (SD Card)
David Andr Batti (Device)
PSShutdownXP (Device)
Agile Messenger (SD)
Running Programs (Device)
Gamebox Classics (SD)
Diamond Mine (SD)
Gamebox Gems (SD)
GB-SOFT Tweak (Device)
Customization Tools (SD)
PHM Registry Editor (SD)
Ivan's Extended rom hidden (Device)
Rschell Keyboard Fix Tuma v1.3 Keyboard (Device)
Ivan Personal Settings (SD)
Album with Midi Application (Device)
WESTTEK PDF VIEWER (Device)
MSN preinstalled on device works without any problems.
As you can see, I had various items installed on the device and by watching the two units side by side, there definately was almost no difference between preinstalled Windows 2005 compared to the MDA that I had on my unit.
Given there might be slight differences that I had previously posted as well.
Ivan 3.3_r4 (Downloaded Version Name when I downloaded files)
Windows Build 5.1.1700 (Buile 14343.0.0.0)
ROM: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM Date: 03/02/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
I honestly saw a major improvement of pulling up the phone portion of the unit when I downgraded my Radio from 1.15 to Radio 1.12. I know some users on this forum have been using 1.15 and had negative effects and have downgraded to 1.13 but my recent attempt to upgrade to 1.13 has failed. I am not able to test the 1.13 radio version type II. I gave up after a month of trying regardless of following all the different method of trying to install the 1.13 radio version.
I have had no issues syncing my phone with my Outlook via Active Sync however I did find some weird differences between the Ivan version and the Tuma version.
-Bluetooth sync I have not been able to get to work.
-Bluetooth between two devices are trickier. I have to turn bluetooth on and then when sending files, there is a different menu item to send files instead of using the BEAM feature that is what I used during Tuma versions tested on Blue Angel.
-Bluetooth with headset does not function corrently and as stated by other users, the connection is one way where the user can hear everything but the calling party does not hear my voice.
-Batti when I first installed it seemed to work and not work. I found that the software requires it to be left on the Device and tends to disappear if put onto the SD card.
-Voice Command does not respond to the first button press. I figure it was due to being on the SD card on my first attemp. Definately install these types of programs to the Device.
Some device specific mods that I made included limitting the amount of WAV formatted ring tones to under 15. At any given time where I assign ring tones, I try to keep less then 15 ring tones on the device. I found that assigning more, it's harder for the device to respond when there is an incoming call.
Overall, I have had the best experience with this version of Ivan and have had very little (almost no) issues once I installed the software in the appropriate memory listed above.
I also wanted to point out that I am using an extended life battery listed as version 3. With a day of using the phone for under 2.5 hours and perhaps a 30 minutes of internet per day with about 1 hour of Wi-Fi usage and 30 to 60 minutes of watching videos on the unit, I am still left with more then half of the battery life. Compared to a regular battery, I would still get through the whole day with this kind of usage without much of an issue. I also set the GPRS to disconnect after 5 minutes using the GB-Soft software listed above to keep that type of battery draining out of the test. The keyboard hasn't been much of an issue for me either such as lights flickering or staying on after using it.
I really feel besides the bluetooth issue, this is the best base ROM that I have used on my device. Having done a side by side test with other phones, I really find that this is the same if not faster then pre-installed Windows 2005 units.

Hello everyone,
I'm new but I have been reading these post's for about a month now and just had a few questions.
1) For some reason the ability to remove stylus and open notes application while on phone does not work, wondering if there is any fixes on that. Also the ability to activate phone from sleep mode with removing the stylus doesn't work either.
2) I've been trying to upgrade new R.O.M for Hong Kong version touch diamond and I keep getting a wrong ID device code, wondering if any fixes for that.
3) Also looking for a site to download programs only for touch diamond if there is one.
4) Also time on sms messages and clock on phone is very off by 22 hrs, wondering if any fixes for that issue.
5) Also wondering is there any scratch remover for Touch Diamond as I've already scratched the screen a little trying to use touch flo with my finger nail.
6) Also looking for a good USD site to buy Touch Diamond products/accessories.
7) Also looking for a good site to buy music online with Touch Diamond.
8) Also looking for right setting in camera to get rid of blurring images. People move while trying to take a picture and pictures comes out blurry.
9) Also looking for a way to brighten screen.
If able could someone have one thread that list all cabs for diamond and any new files made each day, now that would be nice.
Okay just so you know I have a touch diamond I bought for $800 USD unlocked from www.cti-miami.com back in 15 Jun 08. I have R.O.M. version 1.34.831.1 WWE and radio version 0.93.25.NS16 with protocol version 52.24.25.08H. Model # is HTC Touch Diamond P3... And I beleive I have English Hong Kong version.
Also I did not install any spl's on my device so that may have been why upgrade did not work. I've read both the wiki's and post in these sites but still have some questions. Many deal with a guide to use programs like the voice command program.
I'm currently using phone in Afghanistan with Roshan cellular network. Works fine with a few drops of signal. I'm thinking a radio update would help out a lot.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi
I havent performed any upgrades to my XDA2i (official or otherwise) for at least 3 years - are there any upgrades I should consider?
Here is my Device Info
ROM Version : 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date : 01/27/05
Radio Version : 1.00.00
Protocol Version : 1337.39
ExtROM Version : [THIS IS BLANK]
Model Number : PH10C
Also, I am unable to connect to WiFi with my XDAIIi
The device finds wifi signals and sometimes will make a connection - but when I try and open a webpage I get a screen showing "IIS7" and nothing else.
Here are my settings for WiFi :
Network Card Connects to tiacxwin Campatible Wireless Ethernet (for both The Internet and Work).
Power Save slider is set for Best Performance.
Thanks for any help and advice !!!
Paul
I am in a similar position Paul.
I have been given a 02 XDAll by my company to use for recording surveys.
Its bog standard like yours.
I'd really like to upgrade it but the problem is there is almost too much written about it on these forums .Most of it is so old and out of date that all the links are broken. Its hard work trawling through it.
What is needed is a simple basic upgrading overview listing all the options but I suppose everyone has moved on to more recent PDA's and are no longer interested in these
I've posted a similar request in the Himilayer section .Maybe we can share what we find
Nick
Nick, do you have a Himalaya or an Alpine? PH10B or PH10C?
The Alpine is stuck on WM2003, perfectly good for its task just not upgradeable to WM5 or WM6.
As for customising it realy depends what you are looking for.
Hi DeeDee thank you for responding. I feel guilty hyjacking Paul's thread.
Mine is a Himalaya 10B
with following spec
02 XDAll
2Gb SD card
Rom 1.72.00WWE
Date03/15/04
Radio 1.17.04
ext Rom 1.72.18.1
Ram 128Mb
Model PH10B
I just wanted to improve the Active page if its possible .I cannot read the tiny text so large button icons like the Diamond would be useful
I cannot set the Internet access up either ? have tried for hours.
I have a Netgear Wireless Modem router DG834G but neither the manual or quick guide explain how to set up the XDA .
I have spent several days trawling this site and the net.
Any help appreciated thank you
Nick,
No problem joining in - if we can get the WiFi problem sorted I would be more than happy.
DeeDee,
Should my ExtROM Version be completely blank?
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul
you're up early !
I have used WM5 on an XDA Mini S (Wizard) a couple of years ago. I imagine that most of the current software and apps are written for WM5 orWM6 so it will mean I'll need to upgrade to WM6. Presume that means flashing the Rom which judging by the number of disasters on this forum is not something I'd do lightly.
Particularly as there are virtually no answers to requests for help.
I found a statement last night that basically says unless you are a software developer you arn't welcome on this forum which probably explains the lack of help.
Yours has the 128 Rom as apposed to my 64Mb which is a big advantage. I have gone off the idea of buying a Himalaya or an Alpine as they are too antiquated really which is a shame as I love the build quality and screen size.
I'm going to look for something a bit more contemporary I think . In the mean time I'll enjoy using the works XDA ll
Hi
Flashing the Himalaya to WM5 or WM6 is painless and it has to be said slightly addictive, you will try many ROMs until you find one you like. Think I have tried most of the ROMs for the Himalaya.
The lack of help has NOTHING to do with not being a developer, i'm not one and have had lots of help. The problem is probably due to the lack of people using these PPCs. i have to confess my Himalaya is purely there as something to muck about with, work didn't want it any more. i have a Trinity as primary PPC phone and an Alpine with an application that doesn't work on WM5.
You won't get your Himalaya to connect to your WiFi as it doesn't do WiFi without an add on card.
DeeDee,
Should my (Alpine) ExtROM Version be completely blank?
Thanks
Paul
Hi Paul
Can't remember and my Alpine is at home, but i don't think so.

Thankyou DeeDee I appreciate you taking the trouble to answer silly questions by a noob.
I have downloaded and printed out a 140 page manual and there was nothing clear about connecting to wi-fi
If I have to carry this Hima around with me all day I might as well have it working as well as it can.I had intended to purchase a 3g Iphone for myself but now I'm not so sure I might buy a HTC instead if I can find one with 3.5" screen and wi-fi and a reasonable interface like touchflo
Nick
i have to say the smaller screen on my Trinity is perfectly adequate and that the larger form factor of the Alpine/Himalaya means you need a headset/handsfree kit to really use it as a phone.
It's also not pocketable, which my Trinity is, just.
If you can find a decent mobile shop and have a touchy feely sesion with as many as you can.
thanks DeeDee thats excellent advice. Photos never give a good indication of size and ease of use . The size is a bind like you say its heavy and too big for a shirt pocket but it is easier for me to work with using reading glasses.
I got an 02 XDA mini S when they first came out. I found the screen too small and fiddly and it stayed in the box unused for 18 months when I sold it on ebay for nothing so I have learnt my lesson.
DeeDee may I just ask one other question please. I have trawled through the wiki and various other sources but I still haven'y founf an answer to my initial question on the Himalaya board.
Q1 How do you install a new app on the Hima or Alpine ?
Q2. where does it get installed to ?
Today we lost the special survey App again Grrrrrrrrrrrv because the flippin battery went flat.
My boss is hopping mad and blames me !....I blame IT cos they installed it.
There must be somewhere we can install an App to that is non volatile and is not lost every time the battery goes flat.
Presumably the same place that WM2003 is installed ? How is it done ?
To install an app either:
1 - use Active Sync to install it if necessary
2 - if the install is a CAB file copy it to a memory card and then click it on the PPC to run the install.
As for the where it installs, when you run the installer it may ask where you wish to install, either Device/Storage Card. Make sure both batteries are charging. In all honesty it's not your fault that the end users aren't charging their Alpine on a regular basis.
Hello,
I flashed a T-Mobile MDA Vario III with HTC latest official rom (WM 6.1) and now screen rotation on slide out / in is much slower. Sometimes it takes up to 4 seconds.
Any ideas?
Best Regards,
Craig Brass
I can't really point to a solution with the ROM you're using; in fact I'd be willing to guess that it's just a side-effect of that particular ROM - I don't imagine the Radio ROM in your device not being best-suited for the OS ROM would deliver slow screen rotation as a side-effect.
All I can say is that I recently flashed to AthineOS and EVERYTHING is quick on it. Screen rotation when sliding occurs within a second I'd say - it might be slightly over a second, I haven't timed it, but either way it's very quick, and quicker than the T-Mobile WM6.0 ROM...
Anyway, hope you get it sorted... Let us know if you find a solution for your current ROM.
Regards,
Rob.
T-Mobile considerations
I seem to recall HTCs fix for this in their HTC Branded WM 6.1 'upgrade' involved more than just the ROM but if the radio and spl are going to be upgraded as well, people need to make sure there are backups of the originals first because in some countries (and Craig didn't say where he's from or fill in that part of his profile), T-Mobile use customised versions and special network configuration. Perhaps a T-Mobile customer can comment whats reqd from experience? I haven't tried searching but I suspect that'd pull something relevant up as well.
Ok, I flashed with AthineOS as suggested. Nearly perfect. Couple of things :-
1. I flashed the official dialer for the voice calling. Before, when launched, it would show Contacts as the left button. Now it shows Hide Keypad. How do I get it to show Contacts again?
2. TouchFlo 3D shows the calender list but when clicked it launches the default phone calender app. I have Developer One Agenda One Installed and I want it to launch this. How do I do that?
