Helmi 1.3.2 BT PAN Howto? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

hi folks,
I have tried configuring a PAN network using the private subnet 192.1658.50.0/24, giving explicit addresses to my PC (192.168.50.1) and my BA (192.168.50.2).
I set up the BA's address in System->Connections->Network Cards-> Bluetooth PAN driver
i tell my Windows PC to connect to the PAN, the BT tray icon goes green (means active connection on WIDCOMM stack), but I can't ping the device. It disconnects shortly thereafter.
Any ideas?

Same here with BlueSoleil PAN :/

And have u tried windows to configure ip automatic? I still think it must work without any user-additional-interaction

Install helmi's broadcom bluetooth stack into your device, and remove any bluetooth software from your pc so it will use microsoft generic driver, then setup pan connection from your BA and connect your pc to it

Another Problem: ActiveSync over Bluetooth

I jut encountered another Problem (which is severe in my opinion):
I connot connect to my Notebook over the active Sync Bluetooth Option.
It shows the Notebook, when searchning for it, bit Active Sync 4.0 doesn't seem to give the right service...
I am having this activesync problem also.
I can sync using the cradle. I tried setting up the connect via BT, but the BA is giving me a message : "Cannot find an existing Bluetooth partnership with a PC that supports Activesync. Would you like to set it up now?"
And i believe that i did set it up already.
my phone settings are:
under BT devices on my phone my computer is listed. under com ports i have Incoming com port 8.
my PC settings are
Devices : My phone
Options: all checked
COM ports: COM8 incoming
in MSActive sync 4.0:
connection settings: All checked ..."Allow connections to one of the following: COM8"
still cannot figure out what is wrong.
I am currently using WM5 and Activesync 4
When i was using WM03SE and Activesync 3.8 it was working fine.
same problem here
No way to create a synch connection via bluetooth.
It might be another MS bluetooth bug !
is this really not possible? I think this is a huge problem. Might rollback to 2003 until there is a fix.
ActiveSync w/BT okay here...
I can sync via BT without a problem.... it was a little strange on how the AS connection was created.
Anyway, I made sure my laptop was paired with the SX66. Started ActiveSync on the SX66, an clicked on ActiveSync via Bluetooth in the Menu. A screen popped up saying there were no valid BT connections and took me to the BT manager. I chose my laptop and an "Activesync Connection" was created... On the PC, I made sure to allow the proper COM port in AS (in my case, AS always used Com5 when using WM2003).
I didn't create and Incoming/Outgoing connection prior to the PDA prompting me, also deleted any existing partnerships on PDA and PC.
Sorry for the vagueness, this was one of the first things I tried after upgrading to WM5... I can try to answer any other questions. Good luck!
Just got it to work.
collowed chen's directions sort of.
I deleted existing partnerships on MS Activesync on PC and SX66.
I deleted existing pairing on Bluetooth devices under PC BT icon.
I enabled a comport under Bluetooth Devices/ COMPORTS for incoming.
I re-added the sx66 under bluetooth devices, set pass key, this time on my sx66 it listed "activesync" as one of the services offered.
Acknowledged everything on the SX66.
Then opened Active sync (at this point i still did not add the sx66 to activesync on my PC) on SX66.
Chose connect VIA BT under menu, and woila it asked if i wanted to create a partnership.
Now i am syncing via BT....i guess the difference between WM5 and wm03 is that with 03 i think i had to set it up via the cradle before BT.
does not work
i have tried all steps but it does not work
It depends on the PC's bluetooth stack. Anything else than Widcomm is problematic.

How to setup Wireless Modem?

I have just got my Vario III but am having problems setting it up to be used as a wireless (bluetooth) modem for my laptop computer. I am running Vista Ultimate and have not installed any driver software for the phone.
Can anyone please assist?
Wireless modem using Vista and TyTN II
First you should create a partnership between Vista and TYTN II. Then you run the Internet Sharing using Bluetooth and choose the "Connect To" menu at start menu and select connect to a Bluetooth PAN. You should see your mobile phone in the list. Just click connect. Boom !!! You're connected !
BT PAN
I can get Bluetooth Internet sharing to work on my AT&T device it is just a bit clumsier than by USB. With USB I just launch the Internet Sharing app on the Tilt and select PC Connection via USB. I then get an immediate 3G data connection on my laptop. Cool. As others have stated to tethering or extra data plans required.
To get this to work via Bluetooth I must do the above but select BT AND then connect the Network Access Point connection in my BT connections from the PC side. Isn't there some way to get this down to a single connection initiated solely from the Tilt side?
BTW: AT&T Tilt device and ROM, Toshiba BT stack, Windows XP SP2.

Bluetooth Internet Connection

Anyone can help me to use bluetooth and internet with my desktop pc?
TYVM
Are you talking about using your TyTN II as a modem to connect to the internet through your PC?
If so, is your PC running XP or Vista? And is it wirelessly enabled or do you need a bluetooth dongle for your PC to recognise othe bluetooth devices?
Nopes, i mean in the past in my old palm tx with a bluetooth adaptor plug to my pc i use internet with a pan connection i think, that can be done with the tytn II?
To use device to connect : Just turn on Internet Connection SHaring on your device (selecting BT) and then connect to it as a BTPAN on pc
To use pc to shre web with device, just connect activesync over BT and the device can then use the pc's web connection.
Hi, where can i find "internet conection sharing"
using wm6
its internet sharing and you can find it on programs menu

Bluetooth PAN and Vista

Thus far, I've been unable to use my AT&T Tilt as a wireless modem for my Vista laptop. I've partnered them in the MS Bluetooth Stack, then gone to Windows --> Internet sharing and set it to bluetooth pan and media net, then on my computer, gone to "connect to" and opened the bluetooth pan connection. Unfortunately, at this point, my phone doesn't show up as a devic for bluetooth pan. If anyone can offer up some advice, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks
I would also like to add that Bluetooth PAN also doesn't work for me in XP (SP2). It doesn't show up in the the Bluetooth Device Wizard (the one used to add devices with PAN services), but clearly broadcasting is enabled in the options.
Also, just as a side note, I can't get USB tethering to work either...I'd really appreciate any help I can get with this tethering problem. Thanks.
Got it working. I have no idea why, but for some reason when i tried repairing it for the sixth time or so, vista suddenly decided it had drivers to install for my tilt, and it went ahead and installed the modem driver. now everything seems to be working.
By Bluetooth or USB? Or did you get both working?
Why bother with Bluetooth or USB headaches?? Just use WMWiFiRouter and connect to your phone over Wifi.

DHCP settings when using Bluetooth PAN

I have a Bluetooth PAN set up successfully between my AT&T Tilt and HP Laptop with Bluetooth stack 5.1.0.3000. I am able to use Internet Sharing and connect to the internet from my laptop.
Everything works internet wise, however I need to change the DHCP settings on the Tilt. It is set to work in the 192.168.0.x range, but my corporate VPN has problems with this IP range. I need to change it to any other private range.
I searched quite a bit for this information but couldn't find it. Any tips?
I remember that I had a similar problem in the past as wanted to connect my WM6 Hermes via BT to the laptop, then share that connection over the laptop's wifi. But internet sharing on Windows forces the destination adapter (Wifi in that case) to use 192.168.0.x, so I had to change that on the Hermes. If I remember well, all I did was go to Wifi settings->network adapters, selecting BT PAN Driver, and manually assign 192.168.2.1. It seemed the DHCP followed as I could connect the laptop fine without having to give it a fixed IP address. Not sure if that still works on WM6.1, but if it doesn't just use a fixed IP in that subnet on the laptop's BT NIC. I guess you don't use it everyday to connect to other BT networks anyway.
I just tried on my WM6.1 Kaiser and it works the way it did. Just change the IP in the BT PAN interface, and the DHCP will follow.
I'm now posting this from my desktop PC that is connected through Ethernet to my wireless access point, which connects wirelessly to my laptop, which has its bluetooth PAN shared onto Wifi and connected to the Kaiser, which connects to EDGE. Phew.
So the path is EDGE->Kaiser(192.168.2.1)->laptop via BT(got 192.168.2.221 via DHCP)->AP via Wifi (192.168.0.1 via windows internet sharing)->desktop via Ethernet (got 192.168.0.233 via DHCP).
This is exactly what I needed and works perfectly! Thank you!
