Hi all, first post, long time reader
Running Helmis latest 3.2 ROM PH2OB1. Thank you Helmi and everyone else out there for ALL the ROM work!! I guess there are not to many Cingular users out there?? The SetOperator code I set was XGULA001. It did not seem to help any. Its not in the auto config. I did delete all operators per instuctions and left the one it asked to leave there.
I am aware there is no operator available for U.S.A Cingular. Is there any way to set it up for Cingular? Any hacks from old ROM's that can be done? The reason I ask mostly is because my phone under WM2003 had Cingulars MediaNet installed automatically, now there is nothing for GRPS. Also my phones radio uses ATT&T Wireless for some reason??
Any help would be returned.
If anybody needs help or would like to discuss the BA SX66 under Cingular USA I would love to do so. Lets Trade notes!!
Thank you all!
Pete
Greetings and Salutations.
PH20B1 running LogOut 3.0 ROM, with the 32MB RAM change. I was just too lazy to change it to 16MB.
Anyhow, I am Cingular customer running with AT&T SIM, which means that I do not have the MediaNet Settings. I do however use the AT&T setting in the Cingular network. I believe you just need to search the Cingular site for the MediaNet information. All you would need would be the ip addresses or the name of the servers to proxy...
I am not aware of any hacks, other than manually inserting in the network information for Cingular, which I do everytime I install a new ROM.
As for the AT&T wireless signal, you may just be closer to the AT&T tower than the Cingular Tower, but no worries, you are on the correct network...
Seimens SX66 Cingular USA Setup help needed - Use this CAB
I had a lot of problems when upgrading my SX66 too. I ran SetOperator.bat and typed "Cingular" (no quotes) as my Operator and re-installed. I then copied the CAB (attached for your use) to my SX66 and ran it. After that, I had full Cingular functionality.
WOW! All of a sudden I have Cingular GRPS MMS!!!
Amazing what a little cab file will do!!
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!!

I'm looking to buy an SX66. I had a few questions:
1. Is there are ROM Kitchen to cook an updated ROM for the SX66?
2. What is the latest ROM version for the SX66?
3. If I buy an unlocked Cingular version SX66, what problems could I expect using it with T-Mobile or other carrier?
TIA,
Joe

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I'll sort through your links and see if I can make out the answers.
Honestly piecing together a ROM is a bit beyond me, but I'll see what I can understand.
It was much easier with the old ROM Kitchens.
Thank you again for your help.

Great info in these links.
Thanks again

Happy reading!
I am thinking about buying an unlocked Cingular version of this phone.
I would use it for my T-Mobile service and would use it on asian carriers while travelling. vDo you know of any problem in the cingular rom that will cause me problems with email or gprs on other systems (assuming the phone is indeed unlocked)
Can you give me your opinion?
Thank you
Sorry can't answer dont know anything about that device, have no link to web page. But if its the same as the siemens as in a GSM phone you will be fine. As or the rest well yo can cook it.
Hey Joe, I bought the SX66 from a Cingular store a few weeks ago to use on T-Mobile. It's been working fine, GPRS included.
Out of the box, I had to remove the Cingular stuff and set up the GPRS connection manually (I just changed the APN to wap.voicestream.com). After reading the forums here for a while, I installed the Siemens update to 1.33, then I got more creative and installed the Radio ROM 1.10 and cooked up my own ExtROM. If you go this route, look in the Kitchen for T-Mo USA cabs that will set up GPRS and proxy settings for you.
If you need help, PM me. Good luck!
Any of you 8125 owners who installed the imate 2.16.9.101 release have any new feedback on how it's going? Are there still issues with the connection icons or wifi connectivity?
I'm eager to get push mail working and have not been able to get a straight answer from a dozen different folks at Cingular on when their release will come out...so I might give the imate release a shot.
What about going back to the shipping Cingular version after installing the imate update - is it easy/possible? Any problems with extended ROM?
thx
I never even used the phone with the original cingular firmware, I went directly to the Q-tek Test rom. From that rom to this rom, the radios seem a little better (getting better signal, edge seems slightly faster, wifi picks up network much faster) and for some reason the whole feel is "snappier" seems like the menus and such load faster. I haven't had any stability issues, and push is working perfect.
I dont' know about the much faster part, but mine is very stable since i removed battery pack pro. I have SPB's power plus as well as their weather software.
if there are any software you want tested just let me know. Well if I can atleast run it without having to buy it, (i.e. Demos, etc.)
Bluetooth, Wifi, Edge, and signal are all real good. (signal on par with 1.12 radio as well as faster to get a signal than it was)
Battery icon is NOT on the bottom and does NOT show more than 2 bars ( so you have full, somewhere in between, and low).
Battery life seems pretty good, but I can't compare it to any other version as I had the phone 36 hours before I upgraded it to this version.
Great thanks for the feedback yall. So once I do the upgrade, how hard will it be to go back to the shipped version if I ever need to? I have everything backed up using awizard, but I understand there could be problems trying to go to a previous version. I think downgrading via the bootloader mode requires executable rom images, but there isn't one available for the shipping version.
You can still downgrade to an old imate ROM and then use aWizard to restore your cingular ROM.
I have installed it on my Qtek 9100.
I hanged 5 times in 2 days.
What is more annoying is when it hangs and
someone tries to call me at the same time, the
other party hears my phone ringing, but my
Qtek is dead silent.

Is your wifi working OK? If so, did you install any of the cingular exrom customizations?
Just curious, because I installed the released imate rom and everything is working like a champ except wifi. I installed some of the original customizations from the cingular exrom and I wonder if one of those cabs did something to the wifi config...
What kind of porblems are you having with the wifi?

It won't turn on.. =)
I thought perhaps it was one of the cingular customization cabs I installed from the original exrom, but now I'm not so sure. I looked at all the cabs and the only one that relates to wifi is the cab that sets the key to enable talking to 802.11g APs.
In comm manager, if I click the wifi icon, it appears to attempt to start wifi, but then goes back to an "x" over the wifi button. The wifi radio doesn't start and the left LED that blinks when wifi is on does not come on.
I wish there were some logs to look at on this thing to see why it's failing to start wifi..
Solved the wifi problem. It appears to be related to something in one of the original 8125 exrom cabs. I reinstalled the new imate rom, skipped the imate exrom install, and only installed a couple cabs from the 8125 exrom. The cabs I installed that did not affect wifi were the mms config, the gprs account config, and the edge icon.
All is now well. If I had the time and patience I'd tear apart the original 8125 cabs to see which one might cause wifi probs, but at this point it's not necessary.
I'll stick with it as-is now until cingular releases their own update...assuming that happens before the hermes is out.. =)
I have a Dopod 838 (identical to 8125, I suppose). The new ROM has worked awesome for me. Better in every way. Even the infamous Activesyn problem went away
I am getting ready to take the plunge...just in case...
does anyone have the original 8125 ROM?
I use SPB backup can restore a backup after I upgrade?
I installed this rom on my 9100, and it is much better than it was with any of the other roms including the original shipped rom!
The radio is much clearer and the wifi hooks up faster and runs better, and I have had absolutely NO lock ups at all.
Later
I am thinking of installing it on an 8125...
Without a backup 'known good' ROM to revert back to I am cautious

I added the extROM files one by one to see which one caused the wifi issue and it was Signed-gprsstall_128.sa.cab...so far. It was only the third one in a series of 17. I'll see what happens when I add the rest. This cab file moves a radio.dll file around.
I've installed this ROM on 2 8125's. Much better and faster than Cingular's ROM. The only thing I did was to install the Cingulcustomize_No_Emails.cab, Microsoft Voice and TRE Pocket PC registry editor and remove all traces of the Voice Command. WiFi connects to my secured access point flawlessly (though I never use WiFi) and the AKU2 push email typically has my emails coming in in about 8-10 seconds from my Exchange 2003 server. Very infrequent lockups, much less than any other ROM I've installed.
Just my two cents worth ...
Steven

the one thing I see is it sets up the GPRS settings for data connection ... you do not need it to make phone calls or use Wifi

I have a cingular 8125. I'm no stranger to flashing roms, I had a SX66 that was running WM5 and I reloladed it all the time. I'd like to see a step by step guide for unlocking the ext rom, flashing the radio and system roms for the 8125. Anyone know a post with that info in it?
Thanks!

Interesting you say you're no stranger to flashing ROMs but then ask for a step by step.
It's laid out quite well in several topics, but basically:
-Use awizard and enable rapi
-Use awizard and CID unlock
-Use awizard to back up Extrom, radio, splash, os
-Run the executable RUU installer for the imate
-On first boot, as soon as you get prompted to choose a carrier, do a soft reset to prevent the imate ext rom stuff from loading
-Install desired customization items from your backed up cingular ext rom. Any of them can be installed EXCPET the gprsstall cab - it will kill your wifi.
There is currently no way to unlock the ext rom in the lates imate upgrade, so you're stuck with what's in there, but you don't have to let it install.

all in german.
i don´t have a MDA Vario, so i can´t try out.
I have the German MDA Vario but running QTEK 9100 Firmware on it .... seems it really needs the german rom to work/install properly. can anyone extract the cab file from the pocketpc client ? seems it cant launch the installer or setup program .... perhaps anyone has an idea on how to fix this ??
I too would really love info on this. We use a Blackberry Enterprise Server at work and I would be in heaven if I could use my HTC Wizard with it. Anyone??

I don't want this fu**ing Berry Bull****, they should release a new AKU2 Rom!!!
The Vario BB client that you can download from T-Mobile Germany :
- Has a German installer
- but is English software
- Works on HTC Wizard and Universal devices, regardless of OEM (IMate, TMO, Qtek)
- But only on AKU1, not on AKU2
- and requires radio 1.12 (Wizard) or 1.06 (Universal)
- has T-Mobile settings coded into DLL files so cannot be used with other providers
(I have tested all variations)
I've installed this, I have VF account, it installs ok gets a PIN briefly gets IP address then disconnects, I have pushed the policies from our corporate BES Server, all downloaded ok, just need to check with our BES Manager to see if all setup on their end correctly, it WONT connect and stay connected, I can only assume this is a policy/encryption key issue.
What would be the best ROM for me to try this with VodaPhone BB Service...?
My actual Version is:
1.5.4.2 WWE
11/8/05
Radio 01.12.10
4.0.13.23
It connects quickly to the Blackberry Server but then disconnects.
I also am missing one of the Services (I have ALP,CHIME)
A colleague with a XDA 2 goy his working and he has 3 Services.
I have exactly the same question - which ROM would give us the #'s listed in the previous post?
The issue is the base ROM, I had to flash to a Tmobile Rom for the Tmobile Blackberry to work properly, I use Vodafone as the carrier but the corporate BES server as the Policy Push service. Vodafone will not let you set up a non VF device on their service hence having to use the Corporate BES server for email etc.. I dont need the VF service anyway
I tried the German Blackberry Connect software on both of my devices. One of them is a Qtek 9100 and the other is a Qtek 9090 (WM2003). I have a BES and a Blackberry 8700 for work.
I saw the same problem everyone else is seeing, in which the client will try to connect and then will disconnect and stay disconnected. I checked out the BES administrator and I confirmed that both clients have communicated with the BES because I was able to see each PIN associated with the Blackberry user in the admin tool.
I concur that the network settings for the client are hardcoded with Tmobile and probably will not work with any other carrier.
Anyone figure out a way to hack the client to set the network settings? Has anyone successfully registered their Blackberry Connect client using Cingular?
Hi,
I have SIM card belonging to former ATT wireless network and I want to upgrade my Qtek 9100 to best ROM and radio to work in US (on former ATT wireless network or Cingular at least).
What is the best ROM and radio for this situation if somebody has the same device?
Thanks,
I have a generic QTEK 9100 and us Cingular.
This was installed from the forums summiter custom rom.
ROM version: 2.17.7.2 WWE
ROM date: 2/10/06
Radio version: 02.07.10
Protocol version: 413.1.03
Works great everywhere including my recent trip to Alaska.
My only issue is that I have a PDA data plan and everything installs as WAP and when you add the connection for the DATA Plan it still tries to use WAP. I need the PDA plan because WAP does not support VPN connections and I like to use the phone as a modem with my notebook.
Hello! I am a Cingular customer with the Qtek 9100. I have been with Cingular for several years when they used to be Southwestern Bell Wireless here in Amarillo, TX.
I purchased my unlocked 9100 last winter. It had the original radio, ROM, ExtRom etc and worked fine on Cingular. I simply took my SIM card out of my previous phone (that had a data plan), stuck it in the 9100, went to the Cingular Support site for all the access credentials for MediaNet and MyISP and there I was. (MMS uses MediaNet). If you were to have seen me in a crowd, I'd be the one grinning from ear to ear. Works great! I have since used the registry hacks to enable the E for EDGE enabled areas, etc. I also updated my ROM, Radio, etc to these versions:
ROM:2.17.7.2 WWE
ROM Date: 2/10/06
Radio:02.25.11
Protocol:4.1.13.12
Ext ROM:2.17.7.102
The Radio version is the most recent update I did yesterday, the ROM was done shortly after its release some weeks (months?) ago. I have also added the A2DP and it works like a charm with Motorola HT820 stereo headset. I have had absolutely no issues with any working aspect with this phone at all. I should also note that the only other software I have added is the GPS utility for my Houlux bluetooth GPS receiver. I'm still looking for a good mapping/navigation software with voice prompting to add later.
Best of luck with your trials, I hope they will be all as good as mine have been!

Do you happen to have the link for that? I can't get my MMS to work. They never download, and I have the unlimited DATA plan.

Hi,
I attempted to install the Helmi WM5 upgrade 1.3.2 beta to my Orange SPV m2000.
I did not attempt to install extra rom, and now I'm glad that I didn't!
My PAYG operator has always been Vodafone UK, and would like to continue using them, as they have the best signal strength in my area.
I noticed that Vodafone was on the list, but did not notice (untill after the upgrade) that it is only available in the Middle East and Australia !
The BaUpgradeUt reached 83% on stage 3, and then paused for a long time (my entire Christmas Dinner!!!!!!!!!!!) In the end I removed the device, had trouble getting it to reset, and have now reinstalled the WM2003 ROM from Orange.
Would like to benefit from wm2005, so need your advice on what went wrong! I had several of the command windows/folders open that it may have been trying to access, so maybe it may have been trying to access these?
If this ROM is not the most stable (or the best for a relatively inexperienced person!), I would be pleased to know. It sounded that way, because version 1.4 beta seemed to leave out a lot of apps which I needed (for example the smartdialler).
Please could someone give me some unbiased(!) advice as to what went wrong, and what my options are now?
Thanks so much guys,
Tom
P.S Thinking about the SIM Operator issue, is it possible to unlock a WM5 blue angel, after upgrading?
did u set the operator the file before u do the upgrade?
if you have not done so, pls refer to wiki site on how to get the device data then set the operator for the new file before flash it.
