i am very new to all this stuff on wizard upgrading and have tried to do alot of reading....
The was something on G3 and G4 that determines the which one i have from the IPL/SPL...
MDA Vario - T-Mobile UK
IPL - 1.06
SPL - 1.06
GSM - 1.12.10
OS - 1.6.2.4
these are the details of my phone...
can someone tell me what upgrades i can use for this fone?

Looks like you can use basically anything. Just CID unlock using the LokiWiz or aWizard utilities on the FTP and make sure to keep your IPL/SPL somewhat near your other versions. I'd reccomend, CID unlocking and upgrading to the latest version of a "stock" ROM like the T-Mobile 2.26 here http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/software_detail.cfm?id=80 and then play around with other ROMs. At least then you have a backup ROM to go back to.

After finally deciding to upgrade to WM6, I had trouble getting it working. The crossbow installer finishes, but everything is still WM5.
After some searching I found these directions:
- Downgrade to Button's 1.05 ROM
- Reset and watch the IPL/SPL in the bootscreen to make sure both are version 1.xx (CID Unlock is only possible when your IPL/SPL are of version 1.XX)
- Unlock your phone ( CID UNLOCK ) with lokiwiz app or aWizard
- Install Tmo's latest 2.26 ROM so you have a good 2.26 IPL/SPL to work with, since the WM6 rom hasn't IPL/SPL included
- Install this WM6 Crossbow ROM
BUT I CANNOT FIND THE 1.05 ROM!!! Or even the Tmob 2.26 ROM which is even taken down off of their website. Are there any mirrors on freehosts anywhere? I'm sure I'm not the only one having this problem.

Well, it depends on the Gx version of the phone you have. Also, the TMo ROM is on TMo's website.

Yea I found the Tmob ROM and am trying risdoro's method of editing the ROM. It is a G3. Still not having much luck. I found an old link of the 1.05 ROM here:

I have an 8125, with the following
Sim Carrier and Rom = T-Mobile
IPL/SPL=3.08
GSM=01.12.10
OS=1.5.4.2
Rom Version=1.5.4.2 WWE
Radio Version 01.12.10
I followed the two main tutorials on how to SIM and CID unlock, got both my IPL and SPL to match, flashed in the TMo Rom and thought all was good.
Now I was poking around and see that it is not a 2.26 rom that is on there but it is a 1.5.4.2. So what do I do, I go to

to get the Mobile MDA Software Version (2.26.10.2)
and when I run the file that gets downloaded, it gives me a
ERROR [296] : UPGRADE ONLY
Now, does it see that the phone is infact not an MDA and is a 8125 and does not like it?
So now from this point, (I have done my research and forum search, and RTFM many times so pleae dont blast me) what do I need to do to get the updated 2.26 rom, and eventually get up to the WM6.
I appreciate all the help, as I am seriously ready to have phone meet wall.

You have already flashed newer bootloaders that 2.26. You have 3.08. Why do you need to go back to 2.26? IF you are CID unlocked (did you take your bootloaders down to 1.xx then run lokiwiz, and then bring them up to 3.08?) you should be able to flash your WM6 rom now. Have you tried?

I think he upgraded the IPL/SPL alone from button's 1.01 and now can't flash any ROM since 3.08 can't handle 1.5 OS.
My advise is to flash IPL/SPL 1.01 and from there flash a 2.26 but... there are a lot of people mentioning IPL 3.08 and SPL 1.xx meaning that IPL won't allow to downgrade. I think it's up to him...
my understanding is that you shouldn't be going to an ipl/spl of 3.xx unless you are flashing from an ipl/spl of 2.xx. (based on thread information from old roms of molski and faria, last days of wm5 roms).
if possible, you should try to reflash back to 1.05 (i think they were customized so you shouldn't have problems).
official t-mobile roms won't let you downgrade to my understanding...at least not from one official t-mobile to another official (3.08 --> 2.26 or 2.26 -->1.80).
so...retry to flash buttons 1.05, then move up to 2.26...and then if you really want to flash again to 3.08.
That is exactly what I figured out last night.
When I RTFM where it says EDIT STEP 17: Flash to 3.08 .......
I took that as a instad of thinking that it contained the 2.16 rom as well as the IPL/SPL upgrades.
So I went through reflashed both back down to buttons 1.05 and then reflashed back up to 2.26 and then to WM6, everything is dandy and it is all becuase of the wonderful people here. I can not say it enough. This place is the greatest! And thank you all yet again.

You may use the tool to get valuable basic information about your Wizard (among others), e.g. to find out that you got a G3 ...
As for the radio-only-update: if I am not mistaken you need to CID unlock - basically it is a ROM update except the ROM contains the radio only but no OS nor IPL/SPL.

Hi Guys, been searching but haven't really found much on this.
Right have a G3 Wizrd and loaded TNT 19209 (had ipl & spl1.06 with GSM 01.12.10)
Everything seem to be operating fine but not GPRS (settings were correct as test on another phone TMobile UK).
So decided to update the radio ROM to 2.47.11 (i think) and now unable to get any signal and even more frightening no USB connection.
I have already BRICK a phone this wk and this was to replace that one...(yeah, what a week)
Also the phone is extremely slow now too.
So advise would be greatly appreciated on this matter..
If i go to bootloader and plug in the USB it is recognised but unable to reload the radio rom from here. Do I re run the orignal ROM TNT (as i tried the onboard reinstall)

How come you got IPL/SPL 1.06 and running TNT 19209 ? TNT 19209 is a wm6.1 Rom,which can only be upgraded with IPL/SPL 2.xx. Did you CID unlock the phone before upgrading to TNT wm6 rom.

Yes, i did Super CID unlock the phone before hand using the Wizard Service Tool.
Can i now upgrade IPL\SPL by using the tri screen or is there another way without booting into WM6.1? (I'll try taking sim out but don't think that will help)....
Any ideas?

Ok,if you say its Super CID,then you must not have upgraded to IPL/SPL 2.xx,mandatory for upgrade to wm6 thats why it shows ipl/spl 1.06 or its still not Super Cid and still on its official wm5 rom.
First,check again with WST tool to verify the CID lock/unlock status,if its still unlocked,then get it CID unlocked and upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx by flashing T-mobile 2.26 rom and after that upgrade to any wm6 rom.
But,if it's already CID unlocked then,YES! first flash to upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx and then upgrade to wm6.

Thanks - Back and kicking now. Had to start phone in bootloader mode before i was able to flash again. Gone to TMobile 2.26. Used WST regarding CID:
CID: 11111111 (SuperCID)
Phone is already CID unlocked!
Same for SIM.
Have now loaded TNT 19209 Pro but have stuck to 2.26 for now (or should i go up a level?).

Well,upgrading to IPL/SPL 3.08 will not give you some very phenomenal boost or changes,it'll just slightly improve the Boot up timing only,which is hardly noticeable and nothing else,where as,it also sometimes creates problems while downgrading.IPL/SPL 2.26 are the most stable Bootloaders and have proven their worth time and again,if you are happy and comfortable with 2.26,My suggestion wud be to stick with them instead of upgrading to 3.08.

Do you have 2.26? I would like to downgrade back to it. I upgraded to 3.08, but I don't really see any difference.

Well,here I wud rather suggest you to keep running 3.08,as long as,it doesn't give or pose any problem,coz downgrading from 3.08 to 2.26 sometimes doesn't go successful and creates problems.
But if you really want to downgrade to 2.26,than simply flash back the T-mobile 2.26,it'll downgrade the IPL/SPL to 2.26,after that you can again upgrade to any latest wm6 or 6.1 rom,but the IPL/SPL will remain at 2.26.

Sorry I got your personal message but didn't recognize you. Later I remembered that it was this thread. Look at this thread for a tutorial on how to upgrade. I believe that you have a G3, but the IPL and SPL versions do not match. When you finish the tutorial, both IPL and SPL should be 3.08 (or 3.09, but mine is 3.08).

You can still download the official T-Mobile ROMs from their website, as long as you are a current T-Mobile customer, or at least know a telephone number of a current T-Mobile customer.
