i have the same question for a svp m2000 and i dpn't no the answer.
I've flashed my UK MDA VARIO with the i-mate k-jam ROM but decided I'd like to go back to the original ROM.
Before flashing the ROM I followed the steps posted by arnoldl to r2sd my ROM to my SD card and then used NTRW to copy the card to a file on my PC. I had to use the card for other things in the meantime and used NTRW to restore the card image ready for flashing.
But whatever I've ended up with on the card is not recognised by the boot loader and I am unable to restore my Vario back to factory spec. I don't know whereabouts in the process my image got broken but I'm hoping someone has, or can create, a clean UK Vario image that can be FTPd somewhere. I'll even host it myself if someone can come up with the goodies.
I only have a 1GB mini-SD card. I don't know if this will be aproblem for a restore from an image on a smaller (or larger) card than 1GB. Does anyone know?
I know k-jam and qtek upgrades/replaces are dead easy because of the .exe install file that takes care of everything. Is there an equivalent for the Vario ROM or can someone make one? I know I'm not the only one with this problem of an unuseable Vario ROM/card image.
Thanks,
Tim.
Hi everyone,
I don't know if this is possible (have been reading most post in this section) but is it possible to do a romupdate from the mini SD card?
I know on my old ipaq this could be done. but I have now idea how to do this on my m3000. I would like to update to the latest Qtek rom.
So far I have the romupdate setup file, but that's just about it. since I dont have my usb cable I would like to know if there is any other way to do the update..
all suggestions are welcome

What device do you have?
Is it a UK MDA Vario version of the K-Jam?
it's a Dutch Orange M3000 device which I would like to upgrade with the latest qtek rom or I-Mate rom, depends on which one is better (WWE or Dutch, doesn't really matter to me).
Do you mean backing up your rom on to sd?
If so yes you can. Bear in mind try uise a samll sd card as rom will be size of your card.
Next thing if you wnat to update rom with out backing up.
Run lozwiz, again, but this time run unlock your CID tool.
Then you can just the exe rom updtae with out any vendoe code issues.
Hey guys iam planning to buy 2gb mini sd , my question is wheather mini s will act strange if i use it currently iam using 512mb (its very uncomfortable to use).
So guys pls say me will it slow my ppc or it will be normal like now (with 512mb).
Im using a 2 gb mini sd in my qtek 9100 right now without problems.
No, it works fine, I manage 3 Wizards all of which have 2GB miniSD cards. They sometimes won't detect but I find this is an issue with the port rather than the card. You just need to re-insert it multiple times.

Sorry but I don't think flashing with SD card is possible with the XDAIIi.
You may be able to get a cheap usb cable from ebay though, and flash that way.
