New Cing 8125: ipl 2.25 / spl 2.25 - which downgrade works?

The desire is to CID unlock the 8125 so the phone can be Summiter-ized. This was new-in-the-box from Cingular:
ipl 2.25
spl 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
I saw faria's post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47848 but it states this won't work above 2.21.
I believe I can downgrade to the 1.08 original stock image posted in the FTP area, but I'm not certain this will work. I read where someone tried downgrading and the spl remain 2.x and things didn't work out so well. The quote directly above is from the lokiwiz0.3 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=50768 - but no one's actually confirmed it will unlock Cingular's latest ROM. Folks there just mention up to about 2.21 or so and the thread shifted to talk about the G4 chip and it's challenges.
Has anyone with a new Cingular phone tried lokiwiz0.3? Or how about CID unlocking anything higher than a 2.21 ROM? I'd just try this myself, but I'm stepping a buddy through this remotely. I can carry him all the way with URLs, cool cabs, and tweaks, all I need help with is something I haven't personally had to face - I don't wish to brick his phone.

Is it G3 or G4 phone? If it's a G4 phone then you can not downgrade to 1.x Rom as they don't include G4 bootloader.

It's G3; there's no trailing decimalization on the ipl / spl.

I have the same ipl/spl, and the unlock tool did not work for me, i would also like to know if its possible to downgrade this rom...

Give it a try.
I think you might need to replace one file, "RUUGetInfo.exe".
Try this:
Download the Cingular 1.8 Rom.
Rename it from *.exe to *.rar
Open the rar and extract the files into an empty folder.
Replace the "RUUGetInfo.exe" file with the attached one.
Run RomUpdateUtility.exe
If everything worked it will think you phone has ver 1.2 Rom so it will allow the 1.8 upgrade.
As always, try at your own risk...

No.. Not CID unlocked, use the Cingular 1.8:

Alright i got it unlocked without replacing RUUGetInfo.exe, i downloaded the 1.8 rom, the phone took it without problem, then Lokiwiz worked like a charm after downgrading the rom. THANKS!

So just to be clear, you had a brand new store bought or telesales Cingular 8125 CID locked with ipl / spl 2.25 and you simply re-flashed it with the stock Cingular 1.08 ROM - and it worked?

Latest G3 Cingular ROM update worked
It works for me too. I just ran lockwiz3.0a to unlock SIM, than downgraded to ver 1.8. Then run lockwiz 2.0b to unlock CID and then install latest custom AKU3.0 ROM. Thanks everyone contributed to that forum.

Work for me. Here's what i did to my new (warranty exchange) 8125 with IPL/SPL 2.25
- unlock SIM lock with Lokiwiz03a
- downgrade to 1.08 with Cingular_RUU_1.8.11.1.WWE.ship.exe
- it now has IPL 1.08 and SPL 2.25
- unlock CID with Lokiwiz02b
- upgrade to PDAMobiz AKU2.3 v120 (the best ROM i've tried so far)
I believe you could skip SIM unlock with Lokiwiz03a and unlock both SIM and CID with Lokiwiz02b after downgrade to IPL1.08/SPL2.25.
dont know why other people in Lokiwiz03a thread said not to do unlock if IPL and SPL are not the same and will brick the phone. may be he had G4 chip.

G4 phone can't downgrade at all. 1.x Roms do not have G4 Bootloaders.
A few users have had problems when their IPL/SPL versions don't match. So there is the possibility that you will brick your phone.
Did you bother going into the OS on the phone at all after the downgrade to unlock? or did you just connect it to USB and run lokiwiz?

Sure thing, you need to sync and go into the OS to install EnableRapi.cab in order to use Lokiwiz02b anyway.
After it's downgraded to IPL1.08/SPL2.25, I let the phone customized itself with all those cingular things and reboot again and install EnableRapi.cab and run Lokiwiz02b to unlock the CID

I have the IPL/SPL 2.25 version of the 8125 ROM.
For some reason, after unlocking with lokiwiz03a, downloading and unpacking etc the 1.8 ROM, i run it and get an ERROR 202: Connection, that it doesn't find my phone
The phone IS connected, synched etc etc. Could this be a problem because I'm running windows vista?

edit: with windows xp, I can begin the flash (my 8125 goes to the tri-color, displays IPL and SPL of 2.25, but then the program throws an ERROR 260: UPDATE ERROR, then tells me the recovery steps (it always jsut boots to WINCE after this.)

and to Clutch: how's the phone now? How exactly does one know of the Ipl/Spl #'s?

I believe as long as it's G3 chip (IPL & SPL don't end with 0001), it should work.

Downgrade SPL and ROM to TMobile stock

A friend om mine owns an MDA Vario, upgraded to Molski's 2.26.. The Wizard lags horribly at games, music and any other cpu intensive task (even before Molski's ROM!), their are also strange logfiles on the root of the wizzard (dbgtostorage..) about 4MB each, they pile up and one of them (active one..) can't be deleted so its in use by something.. what could it be?
Anyway, I think it's an hardware issue and want to send it for RMA, before doing that I want to flash it back to stock Dutch TMobile IPL/SPL/ROM..
For some reason the SPL can't be downgraded? ROM and IPL change after an update but the SPL sticks at 2.26 (Molski's)
The latest TMobile (2.21) can't be used asks me to find a newer updatetool, can't downgrade..
I've already tried Boot's 1.05 but it won't downgrade the SPL and also tried the Cingular 1.8, same problem.. SPL stil 2.26..
What would happen if I would flash an G4 device with G3 IPL\SPL, would the device stil work but crash or is it just not possible to flash G3 on G4 device?
Is their some commandline IPL\SPL\ROM updatetool without checks and stuff?

If you do this I'll just about guarantee that it'll work

CID Unlock not working

I have not been able to unlock my Cingular 8125... to upgrade the thing to WM6.
Yip ran the lockwiz a few times... it did give me some write error though.

My phone is a G3. I can use different sims. But I cannot CID unlock? I have used lokiwiz and awizard... what else can I do to CID unlock?
I am currently downloading your rom.I have not tried any roms as I am quite new to this. I have flashed my 8125 to - IPL1.01 SPL 3.08 gsm 01.12.10 os1.5.4.2.
I have also tried several time to downgrade to button... no joy, the spl wont go. I have upgraded to both ipl/spl3.08 and still cannot upgrade the rom.

Did you read the sticky with the guide to an easy and safe unlocking by Dr. Puttingham? If you did then you should have read with more attention.
You've messed up your phone's bootloader. It's not supposed to have such different values. If you didn't unlock it before moving to SPL 3.08 you won't be doing it now as it must be 1.xx for lokiwiz and other tools to work.
Go READ threads of others in same situation as you and be sure to have a FULL battery before starting the flashing process.

Bud I have read and read and read... and now I have only posted. I see that people in my predicament look for a rom called 1.18 from cingular and apparantly that fixes the problem so I can downgrade and re-run my cid unlock. I will read through all of Dr Putting threads where I have also posted to try to resolve this. Thanks for you constructive assistance.

I cannot find the 1.xx cingular rom which apparantly you need if you dont follow dr p, goodies properly.
Apparantly if you goto http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/161 and register there is a pathetically slow download link for 1.8x... which should be able to change the ipl and spl to the same thing.
hope this helps you. Please dont run or upgrade anything on ure phone till both the ipl and spl are 1.x that where I made my mistake.
Being a techie I guess thats our problem always wanting to upgrade with out rtfm.

Maybe try to flash with button from dr p sticky... but remember before you can do anything else the like run lokiwiz, the ipl and spl need to be 1.xx

Are you sure your phone is still locked? Check CID status with mtty.

Note to all good people, once you have flashed with 1.8.11 <-- this is only on a cingular 8125, even though the spl is 3.08, you can run your lokiwiz to CID unlock and then flash.

hmm not sure if the SPL is really 3.08 although it shows that.
The CID block protection is applied by SPL so if lokiwiz worked it means that the SPL did downgrade

Are you sure you have a G4 ?

No, I have a G3. But according to "How to flash a new ROM to your Wizard... a little tutorial!" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613, if I have an IPL/SPL of 2.xx, I need the wizard_love rom. Read last sentence of G.2.
I used the button ROM. It brought my IPL down to 1.01, but my SPL is still 2.25. Is that OK to proceed?

Keep reflashing the button ROM until both your IPL and SPL are 1.xx. It may take a few times. I think I've read where it's taken some people as many as 7 or 8 times to get them both down. Be patient and make sure your battery is good and charged and when you get them both down, then run lokiwiz to unlock your phone.

After at least 15 flashes with button, still no luck. I started with Cingular 2.25.
The button I am using is CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.
My IPL is down to 1.01, but my SPL is still 2.25. How in the world do I get passed this?
It really sucks when you can't get past the first step .
P.S. Should the SIM be in the unit during the flash? I've tried it both ways.

Not sure if it matters if the sim in is in it or not, but make sure your SD card is out because that causes problems a lot of times. Here, download and try this, it is an IPL/SPL updater only. It has version 1.05 of both which might be able to bring your SPL down so you can unlock your phone.

Tried it several times. No luck, SPL still stuck at 2.25, but thanks for the help. Anyone else out there with this problem?

That's weird, usually it happens the other way around and people get their IPL stuck at 1.xx when they try to upgrade back to a 2.xx but the SPL upgrades without a problem. Since you already have the button ROM on there, go ahead and try and see if it will CID unlock for you. Run lokiwiz and see if it gives you any errors and if not, download and install Wizard Service Tools on to your computer and then run it and click the CID actions button to see if it tells you that your CID is unlocked. If it does then your safe to start upgrading. For some reason I have a feeling it might just work for you.

same here, got the cingular 8125 and flashed the rom. I can not get the spl down. I have 2.25 as well. ahhh what other rom should be good for a cid unlock

That doesn't matter.
Try flashing Tmobile 2.26 then again the 1.05 Button ROM
From what i know the Wizard Love is only for G4 Users. G3 users should flash Tmobile stoc 2.26

not all g3 are the same!!
i have experienced the same with my g3 (IPL/SPL 2.18) when i tryed to downgrade the spl... ipl 1.05 and spl 2.18 still remain... just try to unlock spl with lokiwiz02b and relax... i tried to install tnt 5.0 23 times before i unlocked the spl... just read and apply this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
i downgraded and reupgraded my spl locked g3 (qtek 9100) in 45 minutes at the state of art...

I have found that the SPL doesn't matter. Go ahead and run lokiwiz and you will be ok.

Downgrade Locked G3 with 3.08 IPL/SPL

I have read the guides to unlocking and from what I see there are none that work on 3.xx SPL/IPL. I was able to downgrade the IPL but never the SPL.
I have seen several threads that say if you flash button rom (several times) it will eventually downgrade the SPL also, but all night as I worked I flashed the button ROM (about 12-15 times) and still can't downgrade the SPL from the 3.08, only IPL goes to 1.01
Tried the original Cingular ROM and it isn't accepted (I think because I have a higher SPL than the original 2.26), tried using the ShellTool, Tried SoftSPL too but none worked.
IS THERE A WAY TO DOWNGRADE THE 3.08 SPL SO THAT I CAN USE THE LOKIWIZ02 OR LOKIWIZ03. I saw a thred saying that 3.08 can't be downloaded but I also saw SEVERAL saying to just keep insisting with the Button rom that it will eventually work (but after almost 15 consecutive tries I've had it).
Any help would be GREAT.

Button ROM doesn't work for that. I tried numerous times too. The only ROMs that work to downgrade to anything else from 3.08 are the OEM releases from either T-Mo or AT&T.
The Cingular ROM isn't accepted because it checks the OS version number. I had to try several peoples' ROMs until I found one with a low enough version number to where the Cingular ROm could flash on top of it.

Try to flash T-Mobile 2.26 to bring it down to ipl/spl 2,26 then go for button's 1.05,hope it'll do the trick.

I want to downgrade my phone, too. but the original T-Mobile AKU2.0 say while reading the phones ROM-Version "only update"... so, with this no downgrade is possible.
How can i CID unlock with AKU3? I want to flash a new ROM from xda-developer as well... damn

You could probably extract the nk.nbf and use the standard tools to flash it.
The nk.nbf can usually be found in a .tmp folder in c:\documents and settings\yourname\Local Settings\Temp

Unless you are using official kjam update, otherwise please CID unlock your G3 device first, or you will face problems.
