Hi guys,
Since I made the mistake of switching to DUO instead of the Tilt (yeah cast stones on me) when I updated "that one" to 6.1 the /WINDOWS file incredibly messed up. So much so that I felt a hard reset would work and reinstall 6.1 but instead I killed it on "Download Ready". Now I have to turn in my lil' POS to Pantech so they do that themselves. Bummer and no phone for 2 weeks.
Then I pull out my good ol' trusty Wizard but this one, unless I have it plugged in or hooked on the USB, it powers off and on constantly and goes back to original config (year 2006, and such). I NEED this phone as a loaner till I get the other one back. No use to have a cell phone that you can't use without cables.
I want to know if there is a fix to this, or if you guys think if updating this dinosaur (original everything, OS, WM, radio, etc.) to your latest and best(est) would fix this really annoying thing. Heck if you guys can fix this I might put the Duo in the corner for a while after it comes back...I got that SIM card and put it here and I can make and receive calls, the problem is it turning off and on constantly and deleting everything.
Now I will go back to my corner with my straightjacket. Thanks!
Hello there fellow Wizard owner. This is my first post on the website and I think I can help you out.
1) Try and leave your Wizard connected to the wall outlet for 1 hour. Then turn it on while plugged to the wall. See it will reboot. If it doesn't unplug it and see how long it lasts without it being plugged. If it reboots when it is unplogged it could mean your battery wont hold it's charge no more and all you need to do is get a new one. I went thru the same trouble last month and after testing everything under the sun I decided to replace the baterry and .. Viola!!! no more reboots for me.
I hope this helps.
Another questinon,
My notebook is Vista; my DH's is an XP. Which OS is safer to perform these changes? I found the thread where I can update the OS and to WM6 for newbies and I will try that first on XP.
One of (if not) the main reason the Duo got screwed up is that I tried to update it to 6.1 on Vista, when I was supposed to do this on XP (but don't tell anybody that they had TWO different instructions for BOTH OS's).
Cheerio.
Lol ... Yeah on my personal opinion if you are upgrading your Operating system use XP ... for some reason Vista freezes on me. And b4 you upgrade remember to read ALL the threads about upgrading your Wizard. Pretty much you can find all the answers on the search engine. And this guys are close to Gods when it comes to modding this "dinnosaour". I have pretty much messed my phone over 100 times .. I always look for the newer Rom and hacks and they guides they have here can help you with almost any known problem.
I know...I have taken apart mine FOUR TIMES and put it back together...two times b/c my daughter decided to dunk it in OJ!!!!!!!
Good thx for the advice I will fetch for a batt then...my DH will not hear me complain any longer I hope...
It's more than likely your battery.
When mine went - from a full charge to 60 % no issues, once it hit 59 % charge - the phone would cycle on and off until I pulled the battery - or stuck in back on the charger.
New battery - haven't had an issue since
Good luck

Hi,
Performed experiment as we agreed...turned it on @3pm (let it charge for more than 1 hr) and AS LONG AS I DID NOT MAKE A CALL it worked fine. Now it is having those seizures again. I can only stop it by taking the battery off, of course if I want to do that immediately. I dialed, when I was gonna send a page to my DH it went bipolar.
Now that is a reason why I believe it is not necessarily a battery issue but a software/hardware issue. I believe I will try upgrade software on this thing.

Did yours did this when making a call? I played games, fussed with the calendar, updated email settings, but nothing happened till I dialed.
Yep - usually when making a call.
Games, settings, etc take very little battery power - but phone calls take the brunt of the battery power.
Kind of like when they give you battery ratings - you will see four or five days of stand by time - but only 5 hours of talk time.
Like I said, for me - it was the battery.
Good luck
Same here battery was my problem. But if you still want to try to update. Make sure you charge the thone THRU wall adaptor then thru USB. If I remember correctly wizards wont charge a completely drained battery thru USB. And if during the update your phone starts to do the reboot dance it is 99.9% your batery then. Again GL.
Hi there,
I have a huge problem with my Diamond..
Since I went to the Alps in christmas, (local temperatures where about -8 degrees celcius(phone can handle this I hope))
whenever I make use of consuming programs (i.e.: Opera, TouchTwit, Windows Live Messenger, whatever..) My phone just turns off ? random times.. mostly after using the program for like 2 minutes.. not more than 2 mins.
Anyway, I restart my phone, it says Battery almost empty?! what the.. I just plugged it out of my recharger? if my battery gets below 5% it shuts down again and again, after few restarts it was fixed, and battery was back normal. (When phone is connected to recharger, there's no problem with any of these applications
Now my question is, since I have no warranty (Hard-spl)
What to do now?
Thanks for helping me out already
(btw: it's with every ROM I use and I have never had this issue before..)
Update: I just ordered a new battery 1340 mAh, hope this will solve it, Im running official Dutch Rom from htc website at the moment, its definitly not a rom problem, cause it shuts down also
have you found a solution yet?
i seem to have exactly the same problem...
the phone shut's down and there is always only 5% battery life remaining
i get the idea it has something to do with the internet connection, cause it always happens when i browse or use outlook
so i tried updating the radio rom, but that did not fix it
i will try it with tomtom or anything that uses a lot of memory without internet, see what happens...
i hope you have already found solution, and are willing to share it!
Edit:
It seems to have nothing to do with the memory consuming of the apps.
When i run tomtom for example, it runs fine and the phone does not shut down.
When i exit the app, and run quickgps and let it download the gps-data from the internet, the phone shut's down after a few seconds.
So maybe i do have a different problem...
Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it? It happens with different ROMs and Radio versions.
I have a dual boot Android / Windows teclast. When running android the battery drain when the screen is off is minimal, however the same cannot be said of the Windows side. When running windows the battery drain is terrible.
I have run a powercfg /sleepstudy and the top 5 offenders are green, it states it is in connected standby for around 97% of the time but I am receiving something between 900 -1100 mW battery drain, which is around 4-5% battery loss per hour.
I performed a factory reset and did not install any applications, but the behaviour is the same. Windows documentation suggests that the drain should be nearer 150 mW or less.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try. Technet suggests it is a hardware / driver issue, and I was wondering if there was any further diagnostics I can do or if anyone has any solutions to this?
Sir , I agree with the technet. There may be something in the android which drains battery a lot. A driver, app or with the stock ROM itself
Hi, the problem is not in android, the battery drain seems fine in android, but in Windows it is terrible. This implies to me that the hardware is not faulty but that the problem is to do with the software in windows.
Just hoping someone with more knowledge of this might have a solution.
Windows is made for PC. The kernel in Windows assumes that it has unlimited energy source while the kernel in Android understands that it has less energy given
That's the thing I thinl
so if you think android is the problem has anyone tried taking dual boot off and running this as a windows only tablet? does that fix it?
Hmm. I have downloaded the androidx86 and installed it on my pc. There is a significant difference between the battery backup. The androidx86 has much better battery life
Windows shut downs after plugged in for charging
This is dual boot x98 air II (no 3g). While running windows 8 for a while during charging, pc will shut down in hibernate mode with SOC error hot. This only happens when soc it around 56C and plugged in. I have ran cpu load on the window side unplugged(not charging) trying to get it to shut down and and would not. As soon as I plugged in the charger, it never fails that its shut down 5 seconds up to could be 1 min. The table is out of the box new from 05.20.2015. I have not problem with the android side failing. I have been in contact with the seller for support, seller state the teclast support has no clue about the problem and I am to shipped it back. I am looking to see if any body else has had this problem and what was the outcome was, before I shipped it back.
Hi, I'm suffering the same issue as the person above, every time the tablet is charging, if I try to open an application or do something, the tablet will shut down. I noticed, however, if I do nothing, it seems to keep on.
I also recieved it this week and I'm on the period to return it, but after paying customs and everything I wouldn't like to have to do that. Other than that the tablet works fine (a bit too fast battery draining, I would say).
Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Just wanted to make sure the question you have is within windows. Have you looked in the system event log for the error and to see what is going, I show SOC hot error and tablet is being shutdown by the system into hibernation mode. I have reloaded windows, using there software on the tablet(which they call a factory reset to windows side only) Do to windows having to be on the charger( wow what a ? now)
Anyhow this is something of a though. While I am writing this note back to you. I just saw something that doesn't make since. With this charging problem after it gets kinda warm. During a windows factory restore, tablet was not plugged in and I had to plugged it in to start the factory restore. During restore process and tablet plugged in the tablet did not shut down. So now were does the problems exist. I have ran cpu temp check with a load on them and they are within specs. Yes the tablet is warm. I am thinking now that it a windows 8 has the problem, windows 8 bing was a update os to be ran on a tablet. If this is a window problem than and like you send the tablet back has no affect on it unless the cpu senor is lose. Which I have read about. But again all the cpu temps are within spec. I have tried multi charger with mulit cords.
What item have you tried to find out what the problem is.
Hi, at the end I kept the tablet. The problem I was talking about is when using Windows, yes. Basically sometimes while charging the tablet would randomly hibernate, then I need to press the power button and wait for it to load again. I'm suspecting the problem comes from windows itself and not the hardware, as android gave me no issue in that regard. Also, it's only while charging, and not always. Sadly I haven't checked the log as most of the time I'm running the tablet in android anyway. Next time I get the problem I'll check and tell you. But as you said, it seems sometimes windows don't have any problem with this, others it does, so it feels more a software than hardware fault on my eyes.
I just notice, however, another issue that in this case affects both partitions: the tablet runs out of battery when reaching 40%, so I'm gessing that somehow the measurement it does of the remaining battery life is incorrect. I would not consider it a big problem, but it's a bit annoying. I am the only one having this problem?
In case others read this thread and weren't aware, BIOS 2.02 makes a significant difference in standby time while booted in Windows. Since updating to BIOS 2.02, my Air II (HG8N) uses just under 1%/hr while in Connected Standby in Windows 8.1.
I m getting massive drain on windows 10 while sleep tablet tends to remain HOT

I have the same question for my Air iii 64 GB (M5C6). Does the 2.02 fit to the M5C6?

Nope it would brick your tablet, 2.02 and 2.05 are only for X98 Air II or 3G

That are bad news. Good tablet but no way out of the bad standby time
Hi All,
I have a strange problem with my Australian Note 5. I have to run an FTP client (AndFTP in this case) each night to download about 1.3GB worth of files to my phone so what I normally do is to start the transfer just before I sleep and then lock the phone and sleep. Files would have completed downloading successfully by morning. This was how it was with my Note 4 but with my Note 5, the file transfer fails midway around 43% mark with a broken pipe error. I initially thought that this was caused by the aggressive memory management issue with the Note 5, so I borrowed a Sony Xperia Z5 from work and tried the same thing...identical wifi, same settings same ftp server...and the EXACT same error occurred and my FTP transfer failed midway around the 42% mark this time.
I then thought it must be my WiFi/ADSL 2+ connection; so the following night I reverted back to my Note 4 to do the transfer and....IT WORKED FINE!!! I am now beginning to think that it may have something to do with a new feature in Android 5.1.1 but then my Note 4 is also running Android 5.1.1. I have tried using different FTP clients but none make any difference...always fail around 40% to 50% mark.
Has anyone else seen this behavior before?

Anyone else experiencing incredibly slow MTP file transfer performance with the 5a? I'm on a Mac, using OpenMTP. In Kalam mode, it takes at least several seconds per file—and I think more like 10-15—to transfer regardless of size. Individual large files do...okay I think? In "Legacy" mode, it seems to be much quicker but I get a message that mtp-cli has crashed, so I'm not confident the files actually transferred successfully. Overall, transferring 2GB of Titanium backups took like half an hour, where getting them off my old Pixel 3a only took a few minutes.
I had the same issue.. windows estimated 2 hours to copy 200mb.
I switched to adb pull and it took like 30 seconds.
