I have the Tilt and I was wondering is their anyway I can have both Media Net and Balckberry running at the same time? Everytime i am messages or browser the web my bb disconnects. Any way around this?
No, the Tilt can only connect to one APN at a time. MediaNet or blackberry.net
eh? so if i were to use ONLY the bb connect service for email, i'll get disconnected from browsing etc every time an email gets pushed out to me?
another question. i'm currently pulling down 4 pop3 accounts into their individual email "folders" on my tilt via default pocket outlook polling setup. can blackberry connect do the same with regards to different "folders" / account?
eg: shove different account emails to their respective outlook folders vs all in one bucket?
i had a 7200 series blackberry *years* ago using bb internet service and regardless of how many accounts you pulled down it all got dumped into the same bucket so to speak. there was no easy way to differentiate between biz critical vs personal emails at a glance.
?? so far i havent been able to find any helpful info re bb connect online yet.

No, it's the other way around. Whenever something else grabs the data link, BBConnect goes into suspend mode and will reconnect when it's released.

I creates a separate folder for each e-mail acount. As far as I know, that's the only way it will do it.
how does it work Blackberry connect on the Kaiser ?
Do we need to install the Blackberry software ? (Blackberry connect 4).
Can we then browser the internet if my company pay for it ? (I had Blackberry connect 2 installed on an HTC Universal, I could read my emails and sync Calendar/notes/tasks but I never could browser the internet ...I never could make Black Connect 4 working on my Universal, so I don't know if I would be able to browser the internet with it).
Thanks a lot

There are a number of threads of people posting their experience with BBC on the Kaiser. Browsing works, with some limitations. But also, its possible that your company's policies can restrict some BB functionality. It all depends on the config and the plans you have. But ultimately, you canbrowse the internet, you can get your email pushed to you. The biggest issue is the data connection issue described in the last couple posts. If you want more info. Search this forum for blackberry and you will find alot of testimonial expeirence in getting it set up and using it.
Personally, I found it to be too slow, too much of a memory and battery hog. I removed it within 2 days of installing it. And the difference in performance on the Kaiser and its battery is night and day IMO.
I use Seven's beta software now for my email pushing.
Thanks a lot for your infos !
I've been running it for a little more than a week.
Cons: I noticed that sometimes my appointments don't update on the Tilt when I move it on my desktop OL calender. You need to keep as few programs running as possible or it slows the device and the battery life isn't good. I like the BB keypad better. The Tilt wakes up with the screen dim and outside it is a real problem. I've had it lock up a few times and go so slow I needed to reset.
Pros: Best of WM and BB. The BB has a poor PIM so using PocketInformant again is very nice. 3G for browsing. The disconnect-reconnect is automatic so it isn't a problem for me.
I haven't made up my mind if I going to go back to my 8800. If I wasn't using BES (corporate email) I wouldn't use the BB but that isn't my choice.
Regards-Michael G.

Yes, you need to install BBConnect. You want BBConnect 4. I understand that HTC makes it available on their website for Kaiser. I got mine through AT&T on a Tilt, so it was a little different. One quirk, if you got your Kaiser in North America, you have to figure out if it came from Europe or Asia to register on the HTC site. One of the major improvements in BBConnect 4 is it will suspend the blackberry connection if you access the internet using a non-blackberry browser.
You can browse the internet one of two ways. When you install the blackberry software, it also installs the blackberry browser. It will be in the blackberry folder in the programs folder. This goes through your company's system to the internet. This won't interrupt your e-mail, but the blackberry browser is rather weak.
The other way is through any other browser. However, you have to have the APN for your provider programmed in. Your provider's web site will probably have that information. Unlimited data usually comes with a blackberry data plan. So, if you can get your company to pay for a plan, that should get you internet access, even if you don't go through your company's BES system.

That's true. You have to be careful to avoid programs that suspend bbconnect constantly.

Yes. It's running on my Tilt.
Regardless of where your Kaiser or Tilt came from, you can follow these links to the software needed to install it, if you want it.
http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/
http://www.america.htc.com/connect/8925/
You need 2 pieces (get one from each link above):
1. You need the Blackberry Connect software that installs on your Kaiser/Tilt. It's a .cab file. (first link above)
2. You need the Blackberry Connect for Windows Desktop software that installs on your PC. It's a .exe file. (second link above, halfway down the page)
There's also a help file at the bottom of the second link.

Thanks a lot for these links !
so i used to have a razr and on black friday i bought the AT&T Tilt. i've never owned a PDA or smartphone before.
now one thing i was wondering, if there's a program or some sort of tweak that would allow me to have a clock when my phone idles. i use my phone a lot as my clock and i would much rather have a digital read out of the time as a backdrop instead of a straight black screen.
also, i set up the xpress mail and i put my info for yahoo, and it downloaded my inbox but i can't get it to update and receive NEW mail. i can't find the update thing, i think when i set it up i had it update manually and now i can't find the place to change it. when i was reading gmail's mobile mail, it said there were only certain mobile email clients it works with, is there an outlook mobile or anything by chance?
lastly, this is the big one, i have a mac and want to bluetooth songs from my mac ONTO my tilt. i have a micro sd card in the tilt but when i tried to set up the bluetooth file exchange i couldn't get it to work right but i was able to set up my computer with my phone to connect to the internet. what do i need to do to get songs from my mac to my tilt through bluetooth. can it be done?
thanks in advanced!

First congrats on you new phone. Mine tilt should arrive in a few days. AS for you question I don't think there is such an application. Even if there was it would probably not be a good idea as it would likely cause your battery to drain quickly. This is a powerful little device that uses a lot of power that's why the display is set to time out (to help with battery life). Just learn to quickly tap to power button to wake the device for a quick glance.

Not sure about this one. I just put the SD card in a card reader an manually moved my music files to it.
Good luck. Hope this helps..
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
For the digital readout, you can use Slide2Unlock2 or the HTC Today Plugin found on these forums. They'll show a big digital readout of the time when you tap the power button. The other option is to use SPB Time, which will do what you're asking but at the cost of battery life. For doing automatic mail downloads, you should use Pocket Outlook (the default messaging app), and as Rojas said, set up your email account. The last page of options will ask you on what schedule you want to check. For the bluetooth thing, I think you need the bluetooth file explorer program. Search for it on these forums. Not sure why you'd want to transfer files via bluetooth though. There are so many easier ways of doing it.

what's easier? i figured since it's a mac the syncing program wouldn't work so i was just going to bluetooth files.

Pocket Outlook, Word and Excel are included on every Windows Mobile device. Read your manual. You will learn a lot by reading it.

Greets,
After following the Tilt pre-release to the present day, I have finally broken down and gotten one (yay!)
I was not an AT&T subscriber and so I would like to test out AT&T's service as well as my new phone, and do not want to do anything which would get in the way of the return, if necessary.
So ... I had a few questions:
1) I know I should not flash to a new ROM, but can I still do the hard reboot/soft reboot to remove the AT&T bloat, without jeopardizing the return?
2) If I do remove the AT&T bloat, how do I configure the phone to access the web, etc.
3) Can I install programs?
4) If I can install programs, which AIM client can I use to avoid hitting my 1500 maximum text messages.
Any responses or advice is greatly appreciated!
Answers:
1. Yes, you can do the hard reset/soft reset and not worry about it. If you need to return the phone, just do a hard reset and allow the customizations to install.
2. It'll be configured automatically, you don't have to worry about this.
3. Yes, I have not found a program yet that doesn't install.
4. For IM in general, I use Fring or Palringo, both of which are free and work over data, not text messages. Fring also works as a Skype client, so you can make Skype (or Google Talk, MSN, etc.) internet calls with it.
Hope this helps.
No AIM
snooginsguy,
Thanks for the info ... I take it (from their sites) neither Fring nor Palringo do AOL Instant Messenger ... am I correct?
Thanks

Palringo does support AIM.
What Instant Messaging Services Does Palringo Support?
Yeah, and I can't tell if Fring does from what it offers as services on the device (I don't use AIM) but there are ICQ, SIP, and Twitter options if those have anything to do with AIM.
Hi,
So far I couldn't find any yahoo or msn messenger for android. Is there any?
Which IM for yahoo, msn do you use ?
Is there any IM for android which connects directly to the yahoo/msn server (unlike meboo, ebuddy)?
Is there any messenger which supports multi gmail accounts?
Thanks in advance.
Hi there
Try Truphone or Fring
ebuddy works great
Hi Msn is working flawlessly for me, although i am unsure if it supports yahoo messenger.
There is also an app called NimBuzz which supports windows live, yahoo, AIM, Skype, Facebook, Gtalk, My space, ICQ.. and soo much more...
Check it out.. i use it mostly for Skype Calls but everything else seems to work amazing when i first set it up.
There are also several apps that work without extra Server.
I'm using ICQ and MSN. I can't say anything about yahoo...
By far the best App I have tested was IM+. Too sad it costs way too much...
The built-in t-mobile app also connects directly. I used it for several days. works fine (ICQ is the same protocol as AIM)
but now I'm on Meebo. I like to have the same History on Phone and PC.
the "IM" app that comes on CM roms (i believe its the T-Mobile one) is a great app that works great, only downside is on Rogers network you cannot connect as it will try and verify by sim. You will need to be on wifi to use "IM" but i still love this app
i also use Nimbuzz but have had some issues as of late with it dropping (could be the phone too )
hi yahoo
there is a hi yahoo app. works well for me, but right now i go back & forth between meebo & ebuddy.
I just dun like the way all these messenger design. These company can make better layout, fonts and feature for Iphone and why not Android? Just disappointed.
IM+ (the conversation layout very very bad. Words too small can't change font and stupid color)
Palringo (All the buddy(contact) squeeze into one. Very difficult to locate friend)
Meebo ( I hate to login meebo inorder to use MSN/Yahoo, buddy layout very bad)
MSN Droid (Not bad so far. Only support MSN and no yahoo.)
ebuddy ( Another one need ebuddy account. conversation fonts too small)
Android IM ( So far so good but will disconnect if phone go to sleep. Maybe its design to work with SMS)
You guys forgot BuddyMob
Plus: You can choose your own Messenger Picture, MultiLogin (connect from your homecomputer AND your Android Phone the same time) is supported, swipe function is included
Minus: No Ring for MSN, no Send Files, no smileys
Used it for months, now i'm looking for something new
eBuddy works for me... careful with gtalk though - it sets your status to an ad.
On the MyTouch 3G there is an almost sort of half-decent app which includes MSN, Yahoo and I think it is AIM. At least you get to see your buddies online and it is over the data network, but as mentioned already you have to be on wi-fi to sign in unless you are on T-Mobile's data network as the phone uses only T-Mo's SIM info (and wifi) to let you sign in. The question is, is there a way to tweak the app so that you can use any carrier and still sign in from the data on your SIM, and how can this be done? I am nearly sure it can be. Can anyone help?
I've been using meebo without any problems.
anyone knows which IM app can do group chats? like in a conversation with more than 2 person? I know ebuddy can't do that... it's really frustrating!
I've found that when using ANY im program it's hard NOT to get dc'd. I have settled on using msn live which is free from the marketplace.it still dc's every now and then but at least now I can have a direct shortcut to msn on my desktop instead of just a general IM shortcut. hope this helps.
I found a Windows Live app (plainly called MESSENGER) on Android Market. It is quite good indeed! I installed it on my Hero and MyTouch 3G After a few days it would not function on the Hero - only force close whenever I launched the app. I uninstalled it from the Hero thereafter. Still works on my MyTouch 3G though. I cannot find it on Android Market anymore - not sure why not.
I use QQ!!!!!!Hoho!!
msn has an official app called MSN Droid, its pretty sick
and they were saying something about a yahoo one coming out soon
try nimbuzz

Hello there ;
I have some problems with my HTC HD7 and i wish i can find a hand here
1- Bluetooth problem :
I can't receive any thing from any Bluetooth enabled Device or computer
it always says NOT SUPPORTED
Besides there is no option to send any thing from the phone
2- #hash numbers#
I can't call any hash numbers (services numbers) which is used from many purposes like knowing my credit , enabling roaming and so on.
ie: *#555# is for knowing the credit
3- Location
is not working with me and i need Google maps which is world wide, How can i get it ?
4- Other Browsers
I need other browser than IE coz i hate this Browser
5- Contacts management
- If i want to delete 90 contacts ,shall i delete them one by one ? "Mass management" .
- If i want to see the Contacts in the SIM card without copying them to the phone memory , How can i do this ?
- Some of my friends have more than one mobile phone, so i need to add these mobile phones to their contact card without adding it as a home phone or the office phone, because adding it as a home or office phone doesn't show The texting Option so i can't send them SMS to this phone no.
- How can i manage these contacts via my Computer , Backup , Edit and Synchronize them?
thanks in advance
Hi,
If you have, or get a Hotmail or Windows Live email address, set it up on your phone, then after you import your contacts to that website they will appear on your phone.
It seems a stupid way to have to do it instead of just plugging it into your computer but it does work. I took 592 contacts across that way.
For the location bit, mine came with Maps on it. I think it's Bing maps and works sort of ok but not as good as Google Maps.
Bluetooth only seems to connect to headsets. It's no use for getting info from another device. I've only had my phone a week but i haven't found a way to bluetooth a contact to another phone yet.
anyway good luck with it.
#646# works for me.
Bluetooth is indeed useless unless you have a headset.
Another browser? You'll have to buy it!
Location works fine but no Google Maps
Contact management is one of the nice things about this OS, it merges into one single place the info from Google, Hotmail and Facebook.
- hash numbers work perfectly fine for me too.
- I have seen some browsers in marketplace, I really like the SurfCube Browser, amazing and innovative design.
Some other great browsers: Browser Plus, Metro Web Browser and 7 Tab Browser.
- For your friends who have more than one mobile number, you can create multiple contacts and then link them together into one contact. This is what i did.
