Upgrade to WM5 won´t work - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

I tried now several times to upgrade to wm5.
The Upgrade procedure works fine, but it won´t boot.
After the upgrade i´m doing a "hard reset" (holding power while reset).
Then the colored bars appear, some moments later only the R Version Number appears.
If i hold record and windows media while reset or later nothing happens.
I found no way to enter this menu with the checkboxes.
My BA is a German O2 XDA 3
The R Version shown after the flash is 1.10.00.
Neither Helmi nor TuMa´s Version works
PH20B1 B 1 GER R O2___102 1.31.01 0 1 1.31.137 1.10.00 10.00

I have exactly the same problem. Is there some problem sollution for this?

Yes,i have the same problem :-(

tried doing a
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
in the bootloader after the flash?

Same problem here but i can access the menu
Same problem here but i can access the menu.
now the problem is like this:
1. The phone stacks in the boot loader mode (4 color bars with numbers at the bottom of screen).
2. Nothing happens after that.
3. I tried pressing the 2 buttons at the left side and select no+yes+yes then press the mail button and again no action.
4. i pressed power+record+reset and put it on the cradle and made the upgrade process again (wm5) and after it says 100% i am getting the same result.
Would someone please tell me what shall i do

Hello,
I have met this problem, too but I solved it. The problem is in GUIDE. It should not be a hard reset but soft. Only after a soft reset and pressing rec&cam buttons the KTL menu displays.

Just go back
I tried for 6 months and spent DAYS trying to make sense of the forums, instructions and problem solves - WM5 is simply not worth the bother.
My advice is go back.
This doesn't take away from the valuable assistance from so many members here, but the bottom line is it doesn't work.
Would you have a save of your original ROM that you could email to me - mine got deleted by accident and the downgrading process has all sorts of issues too?

[Q] problem with recovery mode

i just rooted my droid yesterday using superoneclick. im trying to make a nandroid backup and when i boot the phone in recovery mode it just sticks on that screen with the triangle and exclamation. i know that i have to have a recovery program but i couldnt find anywhere saying where to find SPRecovery or clockworkmod recovery. i looked at a few tutorials and they just said turn off phone and reboot in recovery... what am i doing wrong? thanks.
When you see triangle exclamation mark, press volume down and camera button. You should see a menu. Choose apply update option and you should be in recovery menu.
That's how it works on the droid cousin, milestone, provided that you have installed openrecovery prior to this step.

i ended up finding somewhere else on the forum that said the volume up button and the camera button. i did this and it took me directly into a recovery menu that didn't really have many options... i chose the reboot option.
is pressing the volume down and camera button the same thing, or is it something completely different?
thanks for replying.

i think what i had was "apply update.zip." i had glanced over something about update.zip when reading up on how to flash a ROM. and even though it seems obvious now... i wasn't sure that i would have been clicking the right thing.

I think the best option would be to install "rom manager" by Koushisk Dutta aka koush. Its available in the market, both in free and paid versions. It will install clockwork recovery for you. Snapshot of Rom Manager installed on my milestone.

Hate to ask such a basic question but are you definitely holding the *down* volume and power key? I think I had something similar happen to me once (and only once) but I think I'd been holding the up volume instead of the down and thought that must have caused it...
Yes danny, im sure im holding the volume down, no matter what I do , the phone would boot to this only screen
Have you tried ADB?
Have you tried booting in the hboot via fastboot?
yes did try ADB, but computer won't recognize the phone
Looks like the recovery image on your device does not exist or is corrupted. Install the recovery image (ClockWorkMod) via the bootloader or via fastboot. Both are easy methods. Just search for the installation process in the forums.
I'm really sorry nobody with a bit more experience has managed to find anything much to suggest so far, I really feel for you! Googling around a bit I found this for another HTC phone - might be worth trying.
Pull the battery, hold down the volume up key and stick the battery back in and press the power button keeping the volume up held down. After that (apparently that does a different type of boot again), pull the battery once more, this time hold down the volume down button and stick the battery back in. Hit the power still holding the power down and see if that lets you back to recovery...
It's not much but better than nothing ands worth a try. The other site it was mentioned on it worked for getting back to the recovery menu but it was a different device...
Thank you danny for mentioning this, i already tried that too, i think the device is bricked , i am going to try a box one of my friends has, then ill post what will happen here..
thank you again for all who shared their knowledge
That must be a new method of bricking a device. Never heard anything similar. One should think twice before updating YouTube lol
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA
can you try one more thing?
- Get a ROM with the recovery image contained in the zip file. The name should be recovery.img. If not get a recovery image for IncS and copy it over into the ROM's zip file
- Then rename the ROM zip file to update.zip and put it on the SD card
- Then boot the phone using the Vol Down+Power button to go into HBOOT
See if HBOOT will detect this update.zip file and automatically flash the ROM.
Nothing but that screen i am able to get, no hboot no recovery, i used the ORT box, to fix the hboot, and now working like charm
I've never encounter a situation where after youtube.apk update you need a reboot..
Are you sure it was 'just' the youtube you changed. Also was it offical via Playstore?

[Q] Bricked i9000?

Hi there!
Bit of a problem with my Galaxy S. Had Darky's Rom 9.4, but I wanted update to 11. Somehow everything didn't work as intended, after wiping cache and dalvik-cache the phone didn't start at all. Just Samsung screen when booting, after 2 hours I called it a brick.
So I unbricked it by installing stock rom. Well, at least I can make calls and send sms. But there is some issues:
1. Volume buttons and home buttons doesn't work.
2. Impossible to charge the phone. If I insert charger, I cannot even boot it. If phone is turned on and I put charger in, 5 seconds and it will turn off.
Of course, I can't get into recovery mode, although CMrecovery is in there. It's just because of the button mappings which is screwed up somehow. Flashing stock firmware doesn't work either, because phone will crash after inserting the USB-cable. Downloadmode is accessible, but crashing in 5 seconds.
Bit of stuck here. I know, RTFM when flashing but too late for now. Is there any way to get full wipe? Scripts or something? Apps?
...oh wow.. it was my friend who flashed it with "stock" firmware, but it says i897 in about phone.. No wonder why nothing works.

Hi xsenman,
Thanks for reply. Don't know what you mean captivate but yeah, it's incorrect ROM and probably kernel as well, but it's working somehow.
Will have a look on those instructions you provided. However, I managed to get into recovery mode. In i897 it's both volume buttons and power. So the volume buttons actually work. However, I cannot choose wipe because they are not working in recovery mode. :silly:
I'm able to have internet connection, so maybe I'll try with Quick Boot or Hot Boot.

Turn off phone by pulling off the battery and place it back in. While the phone is off, press Volume Up + Home Button + Power Button to enter recovery mode. In recovery, navigate using volume buttons and select wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache and try to install another rom from there. If it doesn't work for you, enter download mode on your device (Volume down+home button+power button) and reflash the firmware using odin. Happened several times to me, hoped I helped

[Q] - HTC One (M7), Stuck in Bootloader.

Hi all,
Apologies if I don't include all the information you require, first time posting in here. (I'll add some screenshots tomorrow evening)
I was attempting to unlock the boot loader to begin the process of installing Cyanogen Mod onto the device. After powering down and entering the bootloader(?) I have been unable to select any options and can't get out of it. It appears that the volume up button works, but the volume down and power buttons do not. The device isn't recognised when attached to a PC either. Not really sure where to proceed from here and any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Gurk

Hold the power button to reboot the phone in the OS. Then get your volume button repaired, you'll need it if you start flashing stuff, even unlocking the bootloader will requires to use the volume down button.

Holding the power button does not reboot the phone into the OS. The volume buttons do work as does the power button, however in the bootloader only the volume up button appears to work. (Sorry that I did not make that clear in the original post)
