M3U on PC and PHP on PPC - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

does anyone know what player can play php file? Actually if i play that file from my pc it show me as m3u file but if I play it from my Pocket PC, it shows me as php file wich my phone can't play. any idea? thanks

Pocket IE is trying to download the file that is serving up the stream... this file is a PHP file and these files are actually "web pages". This is not the actual audio file itself.

But it is a M3U file if i open it with my PC. Anyway to play that php file on PPC?

try using Webby Mobile as it is faster and tends to handle these "target" files much better.

In addition, I also recommend my all-in-one article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279890 on all these questions. Worth devoting some hours to read it, it explains everything.

Why is this article in a forum post? Why is it not in the Wiki where the informaion is more "Static" and can be found with the links to the page??? This is they type of stuff (I think) that will rectify all of the problems in this forum right now...

Or at least a separate sub/forum on articles/reviews. This way there would be a place to go to find the latest/greatest easily.
Seriously, try searching this forum for all posts by Menneisyys. The sheer mass numbers of posts overwhelms the search function.
If you only had to search in an Articles sub-forum, the odds of a good match would be astronomically better. Then you could easily link to the articles from any thread without causing distraction or confusion.
I know these articles are also available @ the link in Menneisyys' sig, but if they are going to be posted in these forums, It'd be valuable to keep them all in one place.
Also, I second the idea of adding alot of this valuable information to the Wiki, But I've hesitated to do so myself, even in reduced form, without permission. (Even though it is published freely for the benefit of the community.)
I feel this way especially because Menneisyys lives off of these efforts. Further, he is the one who knows the most about what he is trying to convey, therefore if he does the posting to the Wiki himself, less information is liable to be misconstrued.
This, of course, applies equally to all of those who have taken the time, effort, and love to provide us with articles and reviews.
-Just one man's opinion.
Now go have fun!

Thanks for the feedback; indeed they will be reposted to the Wiki as soon as I have some free time. Until that, make advanced forum searches by entering "Menneisyys" in the poster field to narrow down the hits.

Sorry, so far, just haven't had the time to create an independent Wiki version of my articles. This is why I've been preferring forum-based posts.

Available ROMs at wiki page

Dearest Trinity users,
I've taken the liberty of uploading all the current ROMs onto RapidShare for our downloading pleasure. I've also updated the wiki with links to all the new locations so that when the files are removed from the XDA hosted FTP we'll still have a place to get a hold of the files. I believe this will be the easiest, quickest method as opposed to using Torrents. That way we don't need any extra software to download the files and no seeders will be needed, either. If the links to these files will ever be required to be removed from the wiki along with the FTP files, I still have the full list of download locations so we can move the info onto any page we would need in the future.
Thanks

Seems like a good idea
Good idea. And actually a great counterblow against the Microsoft's hostile plans to limit the availability of ROMs.
Maybe they will next to try close whole internet because there _MAY_BE_ some software available that hurts Microsoft's business..

But that would be perfectly reasonable. The thing is that no-one is hurting Microsoft's business making those ROMs available. Quite the opposite: this site and those unofficial ROMs have contributed to the success of Windows Mobile.
But to be honest in this case I think that Microsoft is acting to please the companies that license Windows Mobile (i.e. the network operators) more than themselves. The network operators don't like sites where you can learn how to unlock phones and replace their branded software and it's easy to understand why.
Great!!

Very well thought out and well spoken.
But no worries, just means we have a couple more hoops to jump through.
Why not share them in a filesharing network (emule, torrent, etc)?
Then, it would be a real "community project" and it would be not so easy to bring them down...
All files should contain "xda-dev" so they could be easy to find.
Just my 2 cents

Yep that's true also. I'm open for plenty of other options besides RapidShare. I'm thinking of RapidShare as more of a temporary solution while XDA is forced to start deleting all the ROMs from their FTP server.

HTCdriver.com... help needed on mail-adresses, pls support!

oke people, i did it, registred www.htcdriver.com, tonight i will make a little site (to keep datatraffic low) and set up the site. I was thinking of making it very simple and only with FACTS and no flaming at all. it is just to get people knowing that there are issues and make it pop up fast on google.
Tonight i will start working on it, now it's forwarded to my other site in order to get rid of spam.
Any ideas here are welcome.
REMIND: I'm not going to post any illigal things on it, only facts!
cheers... René
Good work, fella.
Plenty of relevant links - to xda and to YouTube vids of the problem - would be a good idea.
HAHAHA, nice done bro.
Strange when i click the link I goto http://www.digitalpicture.nl/
btw, I'm an amateur photographer too .
Hi aksd,
You see digitalpicture.nl as it if being forwarded at the moment...

Aaah, missed that line I guess. Thanks mate.
Great idea. I was thinking about spamming forums aswell, but I doubt I'll make myself populair that way .
Hope it gets a lot of hits and rises to the top of google when people start looking for reviews and stuff before buying.
Just want to notice that you have to optimize web page for search engines to put it on top Domain name is only for people (when trying address directly or remembering it from last time).
So using keywords in HTML, linking between web pages and many other things can help.
But its good that someone at least start web pages about this problem!

off course i understand that, it will be hosted on the same domain as well. Now preparing all the text, metatags etc. etc. but the last message was that i cannot upload in the first 48 hours...
So, I'm going to put my other site offline and forward the htcdriver.com to my other site, until i have a good ftp on that one.
any other ideas of the metatags:
<meta name="description" content="problems with the videodriver on your HTC" />
<meta name="keywords" content="driver, htc, Qualcomm, TYTNII, tytn, s730, touch, cruise, mobile, ppc, ms7200, dual, video, camera, movies, playback, issues, qtv, qcamera, qdecoder" />
<meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />
<meta name="revisit-after" content="3 days" />
<title>htcdriver.com</title>
<!-- htc, video, issue --><cmt>
is the site down? I just got this:
This website is coming soon
If you are the owner of this web site you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.
Well seems we are going to do the same work twice as I also registered htcclassaction.org ...
Re
Lol, then we can link to each other
For me it's no problem, I'm just setting up a very very simple site, only stating the problems etc. etc. Just simple html, no php, only intend to inform people...
Are you planning making it more complicated?
Groeten René
Mwah, a bit. Not really complicated
Meta tags are not a big deal.
Just make sure you use proper html (h1, h2 h3, p ul etc) and simple plain English when explaining the problems with the drivers. This is more important then keywords.
May want to put Google Analytics on there also.
I'm a full time web developer so if you want any tips let me know.
Feel free to use any material that you find useful from:

Re
Site layout is done (visible on www.digitalpicture.nl), can someone check if it's ok? Don't bother the text on the different pages, I'm busy with that right now
Tnx for offering the use of the wiki, I'm sure gonna do that!
cheers
It looks OK in my Opera 9.24.
I only have one suggestion, maybe you can try edit logo to better describe problem and align it to the left. I think it could attract people more.
But content is more important than graphic design, so its also great this way!
Good luck with this, hopefully this will get them on the same page as us and release some drivers. This is pretty ridiculous in the first place we have to even do this.

Kaiser Software: Learning The Ropes

Hello all. I am a newbie, exciting as that sounds! Anyways, this is my out cry, possibly to some of the major contributors (if possible), maybe even some of the ROM developers out their. My goal is simple...making your life easier, and less stressful with us newbies.
Anyways, here is what I would like to contribute to the forum. I would like to write up a Wiki of free software, and how to install and so forth for XDA-Developers. I would gladly take control of this, link to the downloads and so forth, but would like some help from the seniors here, since I don't really know a ton about this stuff. However, from what I see here (daily for about 4 months) is that generally, the major issues are finding software and what it actually does, and I think this could help a ton! Let me know through PM or this thread if you are interested in helping me out, as well as helping a lot of people out, I would think. I do know the current Wiki does provide a tools review section, but I think a general link location, title, version, release date and brief description page would be helpful.
Much of that work has already been done in the existing Kaiser Wiki. I'm sure that if you wanted to maintain a matrix of software, installation instructions, version numbers, etc. and keep it updated, the powers that be would consider it a worthwhile addition. As for links to the software, many (most?) are already on the Wiki.
i think its a good idea but most of which are already on either the wiki's or stickies...as well as other threads in other sections...much of this wont be needed of people just searched and dig a bit deeper than one page of reading...a lot of answers are out there just need to search harder or refine the search
I do live a lot by the wiki, I just find it to be a bit clumsy, since it is VERY overwhelming, especially from a new person stand point. I was thinking of a simple page, that listed the following, work in progress, let me know what others think first.
Applications
-Name
-Developer
-Thread/Site
-Latest Version
-Release Date
-Description
-Direct Download
-Required? (WM6, WM5, etc)

Would it be big? Probably, but I think it could be very helpful as well.
here's a good place to start:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Must_have_tools
this is linked from the hermes wiki, but most of the software will work on the kaiser too. try looking at the wikis of other devices, and also looking in the software subforum, you will get a good idea of wat ppl use on their kaisers
thanks that is very helpful. This is pretty much what I am looking to start/add to. Let me start working on some stuff and prototype it, also, if I could get some information from some developers, if you do work, and see this post, post me to your stuff, directly with some brief descriptions of it, so I can start looking at it. Thanks all!
this is what I was thinking
Name: HTC Action Screen & HTC Action Screen From Storage Disk
Description: This is a quick access to tasks. Generally placed in the bottom task bar, lets you gain access to things like: New SMS, New Email, New Appointment etc. See Screen Shot.
Language: English
Download Link: Action Screen, Action Screen From SD
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340803
Latest Version: Unknown
Release Date: Unknown
Developer: HTC
Donation Link: N/A
Known Issues/Fixes: How To Fix Wrong Email, MMS & Contact Shortcut
And so on, kind of an easy format to update and fix up
Don't forget to add classifications. I'd even go so far as to think of this as a searchable database or at least a spreadsheet that can managed as a filtered list. You're looking at dozens of apps to keep track of. From an admin standpoint you'll want to track the last date YOU updated the info as well.
I've done similar projects for companies....it's a pain to manage in a text file.
I like the spreadsheet idea, I think I already have to many other websites being worked on to add another DB to the picture I was also thinking about wiki'ing it as well, which probably would not look pretty in a spreadsheet, but who knows.
Its an excellent idea. I agree with you that it is already available but not in the format you plan on doing.
+1 for the idea; ideal for newcomers and/or folks who have been out of touch for a time.
As for those whe are saying that all this is already available in one form or another: very true, but when you have to dig through hundreds upon hundreds of threads then other hundreds of pages within the thread... Yes, searching, but you have to know what to search for. A vague idea of desired functionality helps, but what if you don't even know of something that could potentially be a life-line for you?
you should probley put in screen shots too. Ya know to make it easier on everyone.
This is an awesome idea. What i really hate is when someone posts a thread full of cabs but with no explanatation as to what they actually do. The worst i find is with all the HTC apps. page after page of "HTC camera", "HTC album", "HTC action screen", it isn't exactly easy to tell from the name what a lot of them do.
ok well we will see you when you're done and I'm sure that will be a couple of years.

I definetly think screen shots would be nice. Sometimes form is just as necessary as function and I'd like to see what I'm going to be working with / not working with.
spring cleaning
I say this site needs some spring cleaning since there's no many versions of this and that to the point it takes lots of time digging and finding whats best for everyone

This already exists. It's been linked in the wiki for ages. In the 'Downloads' section, there are links to external freeware pocketpc sites, which include descriptions and multiple screenshots per application.
Y'all just need to browse the wiki more often and when you find something, link it to the wiki, so it *CAN* be easily found in the future for others.
Hope this helps!

Lost!!

I remember reading a thread regarding converting CAB files to .rgu but cant seem to find it anymore, can anyone direct me in the right direction?
Kind Regards
Well I'm not sure if I shoudl waste your time with this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317358
Surely you've looked there after you did your search.
Oh, what is this SEARCH you speak of? Something new to the Internet????
You'd think
I searched before...
I winded up giving BJs for 5 dollar cr*ack pieces after it. So I tend to stay away from it.
You can get the rgus from OEMs. Go to the kaiser kitchen wiki page and download it and search for "how to make an oem;" very straight-forward (most of the times).

microsoft compact framework.net?

also called netcm.v2 i need to find this file and delete it so i can re download it. i also need the quickgps.cab
Search?
I responded to your previous thread...the netcm framework is in your /windows dir. gps.cab you can find after 20mins of searching. No one is responding to your threads because you have not obviously searched. You want someone to spend there time uploading files for you and hand feeding you. What will you learn by that? You will not get all the do's and don'ts of a particular cab if someone just uploads or copies a searched link for you. My point is, SEARCH 1st ask after.

Amen to that my brother!
Search and your answers will reveal themselves
I am willing to bet that 99% of all recently asked questions in new threads are actually on the 1st page of our wonderful WIKI
ill admit i have not searched, and the reason is this, the only acess i have to the internet is my wonderful tilt, and i dont know if u have tried using the search function with opera but it is more than troublesome being that everytime u click search for the drop down box and begin typing it goes away.
i do appreciate you informing me as to where i can find the file i am looking for, and i also understand the flaming for not searching however not eveyone has access to the internet on a home pc as you do and please have a little compasion and sympathy for the less fortunate before jumping down their throats
