I lost mine nearly 6 months ago. It would be nice to have a replacement.
Ditto that...
My piece has been wearing down slowly because the phone is kept in my pocket.
I wonder if we can order spares from HTC?
I feel I'll be be needing spares soon, to. My joystick has a crack down the middle, think it might end up falling off soon!
Mine fell off a while back as well. Was considering just putting a dollop of caulking or glue a shaped peice of rubber in place.
The service manual says that this is one of the items that must be replaced when the unit is opened, and even shows a picture of a sheet of them. So they have them for replacement, it just a question of how much they will charge for them. Anyone call HTC yet?
Mine fell off after playing video games...
I was able to glue mine back on, but I have definately stopped using the joystick until I could find some replacements, anyone created a workable solution yet? or passed along to HTC that we LOVE the joystick and they need to add it back to the 7510+ versions? And to add it back in such a manner that it won't fall off or where out? e.g. rather than being only skin deep it could be a rubber core that goes down the center of the shaft (or something like that)?
Thanks,
Bob
I've got a stuffed Kaiser that's draining a full battery in 4 hours flat. Tried hard reset but alas no joy
About a month after I got it (and months before this nonsense started) it did have an unfortunate meeting with some coffee - only a few drops. Wiped off within 10 seconds and followed by a quick suck of the joints to remove any that might be lurking in there.
I'm happy to send it back under warranty, of course I'd like to "check" the water tell tales on the pcb just to be sure there all a nice white colour
The tamper seal on the top antenna module looks interesting - is this just a 3mm dia sticker? I was thinking of using some 3mm OD tubing and a little hot air to soften the adhesive, then with a little vaccum pull the thing off the screw
Anyone done it and care to comment?
you shouldnt have spilt coffee on it then, you should have got the insurance for it.
I'm getting old and think if your screwing over the phone company, you don't deserve a thing.
It is what it is man...
Let's say that it looks like it has been tampered with - what are you going to do differently - and oh by the way NOW it has really been tampered with.
I would simply send it back and tell them what happened.
Most people get treated really nive by HTC and also their carrier company.
Give it a go,
Bill

At £374.49 per MB for SMS data I think everyone here knows who's got who over a barrel - sans lube too I should think...
For those that are interested (and a-moral / fraudulent / curious / whatever ) here's how you go about it - did it tonight in 5 minutes!
1. Obtain a BIC pen (or similar) with a plastic ink tube of roughly 2.5mm dia, some masking tape and some sticker backing material - the smooth grease-like paper that stickers come on.
2. Break the pen in half to get at the ink tube, cut off the clear (ink free) part of the tube.
3. Rub the flattest end of the tube over some glass for a few seconds to ensure an even surface finish. Keep the tube perpendicular to the glass!
4. Tear off a strip of masking tape, 3cm x 3cm roughly. Place the now flattened end of the tube into the centre of the tape on the non sticky side
5. Pop the back cover off the Kaiser, remove the battery. Using a hairdrier warm the void seal for 10-20 secs
6. Introduce the tape sticky side down into the hole where the seal is, use the flattened end of the ink tube to push it down until it makes contact with the seal
7. Remove the ink tube, then gently remove the tape with even tension on all sides
The seal should be on the tape. To extract if from the sticky side of the tape use a rolling action (as if one was rolling a cigarette / joint / whatever) between your fingers making the rolls smaller and smaller until the seal is perched on top of what is a fold.
GENTLY lift off with tweezers and place on the sticker backing material
To fit:
1. Put a little blu-tac on the end of your tube - really, just a little! Just enough to fill the end of the tube with a little sticking out.
2. Put the VOID sticker on the end of the blu-tac sticky side out, void side touching the blu-tac
3. Push the tube down the screw hole
4. Remove tube

What I've got so far- the font used for the titles, shot angles, resons for different shots used, a 'determined look' in picture 5, happy with the new look so he doesn't get caught in picture 9, how determined he is not to get caughed in picture 8(how far he would go to make sure everythings perfect).
But thats not even a page, so anything you can think of, please tell me. Will do the thanks button. By the way, the film is called The Stepfather from 1987.
Thank you for Your time.

I saw more of a transformation from psychopath to someone who appears to be "normal" hiding behind the mask.

I just think of death but then again sad things has happened today and the TV shows seems to be more sad today too Or maybe it's because I have school the 3rd :'( Totally ruins my mood because we have two exams the very first day (small exams. ~3 hours total) in the very first class and then from Wednesday till Friday we have 3 exams. One for each day and they are all going on for one school day each... I hate the people who run my school... Seriously the first week after the Christmas holiday... They are evil...
have you watched the film?
du know what the film is?
I havnt watchd the film, but wiki is pretty useful- "The film opens in a Seattle Bellevue neighborhood with Henry Morrison, a psychotic serial killer and master of disguise, washing blood off himself in a bathroom before shaving his beard, replacing his glasses with contact lens and putting a few of his belongings into a suitcase. After packing his things, Henry leaves through the front door of his house, nonchalantly passing the butchered remains of his family, Vicki, Jill and a grown male relative along with a grown female relative, whom he had earlier murdered. Boarding a ferry, Henry disposes of the suitcase containing the objects from his former life by throwing it into the ocean.
One year later, Henry (operating under the identity of a mild-mannered real estate agent named Jerry Blake) has married the widow Susan Maine. Jerry's relationship with Susan's teenage daughter Stephanie is strained, as Stephanie is highly suspicious of Jerry, despite his acts of kindness, such as giving her a puppy as a gift. After a session with her psychiatrist Doctor Bondurant, who advises her to give Jerry a chance, Stephanie is driven home by Jerry, who suggests they work together to build a better relationship, also stating that he and Susan hope she will try to be a better student at school, where Stephanie is having trouble.
In Seattle, vigilante drifter, former adventurer and amateur detective James "Jim" Ogilvie, the brother of Jerry's latest victim Vicki and Jill's young uncle, convinces a reporter to run an article about his sister's slayer in the newspaper. While hosting a neighborhood barbecue, Jerry discovers the article and is clearly disturbed by it. Excusing himself from the festivities, Jerry goes into the basement of the house and begins maniacally rambling to himself (possibly recalling memories of his unhappy childhood), unaware that Stephanie is in the basement as well. Discovering his stepdaughter's presence, Jerry brushes off his outbursts by saying he was simply letting off some accumulated stress. Leaving the basement, Stephanie finds the newspaper mentioning Jerry's earlier killings and comes to believe her stepfather is the murderer Henry Morrison mentioned in the article.
Stephanie writes a letter to the newspaper requesting a photo of Henry Morrison; but Jerry finds the photo in the mail and hides it from Stephanie while she is with Dr. Bondurant. After hiding the photo, Jerry thrashes about in the basement and contemplates killing Susan and Stephanie, but is brought to his senses when Susan yells to him, saying that Dr. Bondurant is calling asking to speak to him. Jerry refuses to answer the phone, having Susan tell the doctor that he is out. Curious as to why Jerry is avoiding him, Doctor Bondurant pretends to be a man named Ray Martin and calls Jerry at the real estate agency under the pretense of wanting to buy a house. As Jerry schedules a meeting with Bondurant, Stephanie opens an envelope addressed to her in the mail and finds a fake photo of Henry Morrison that Jerry had planted to protect his identity. Stephanie is tricked into believing her suspicions of Jerry are false.
During his meeting with Bondurant, Jerry becomes increasingly suspicious of the man, who continually questions him about his home life. Realizing Bondurant is not who he says he is, Jerry beats him to death with a wooden board. After discovering Bondurant's identity as his stepdaughter's psychiatrist, Jerry makes Bondurant's death look like an accident, blowing up the doctor's car with his body inside it. The next day, Jerry informs Stephanie of Bondurant's death in an apparent car accident and succeeds in bonding with the mournful Stephanie. Jerry's newfound relationship with his stepdaughter is quickly cut short when he catches Stephanie kissing her boyfriend named Paul Baker, who is also the family friend of the Maines before Jerry came. Jerry's wild accusations of Paul attempting to rape Stephanie result in him getting into an argument with Stephanie and Susan, which results in the former running off. Realizing all hope of having a happy life with Susan and Stephanie has been ruined, Jerry quits his job and creates a new identity for himself as Bill Hoskins, applying for a job as an insurance agent in another town, where he begins to court another widow while planning to get rid of Susan and Stephanie.
Having discovered where Jerry is now living, Jim Ogilvie begins going door to door through town in search of his former brother in-law. After Jim stops by, Susan phones the real estate agency to tell Jerry that someone was looking for him, only to be informed that Jerry had quit several days ago. Confronting Jerry when he returns home, Susan is told by Jerry that there must have been a mix-up. While explaining himself to Susan, Jerry confuses his Jerry Blake identity with the new Bill Hoskins one he had crafted and bashes Susan with the phone before knocking her down the basement stairs after she realizes Stephanie was right about Jerry. Content that Susan is dead, Jerry then sets to kill the family puppy, however, he instead prepares to kill Stephanie when she returns home and begins showering when Jim knocks on the door, having concluded that Jerry is Henry Morrison.
Ambushing Jim when he enters the house after recognizing him, Jerry kills him by stabbing him in the stomach with a knife as Jim pulls out a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .38 Special snubnosed revolver before attacking Stephanie. Sustaining a wound to the arm when Stephanie stabs him with a piece of glass, Jerry follows his stepdaughter into the attic, where he corners her. Before he can kill Stephanie, Jerry falls through the weak floor of the attic, but recovers from the fall quickly and renews his attack on Stephanie when she tries to escape. Before he can harm Stephanie, Jerry is shot twice by a still living Susan, who had regained consciousness and retrieved Jim's gun. Feebly trying to reclaim his knife after being shot, Jerry is stabbed in the chest by Stephanie, who grabs the knife before he can. Uttering a weak "I love you" to Stephanie, Jerry falls down the stairs, seemingly dead. The film ends with Stephanie cutting down the birdhouse she and Jerry had put up during the brief time they had bonded with one another."
Hi
I accidentally left my i9000 home and went on holidays. It was 1 week "home alone". When I got back i charged it and started using it again.
Then after a day the battery ran out again. I needed to check a contact real quick so I managed to switch it on and boot it right until i got the contact, then battery was drained.
When I got home to charge it.. DEAD phone, not even the Jig could save it.
I sent it to warranty and they refused to cover the malfunction because they detected humidity (they sent the screenshot below)
please check h__p://img263.imageshack.us/img263/1284/i9000.jpg
When i got it again i opened it and saw that i can only get the white stuff out by scraping it and that the black spot is actually (or seems like) a chunk of burnt chip
This is what i saw h__p://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4475/i90002.jpg
I never dropped it in water, or did something wrong to it. The only humidity it may have gotten was by having it in the bathroom while i showered.. But so do my other phones!
Do you guys think it's really humidity or do I have a fighting chance?
Thanks for your input, and sorry for the pics, i can't post outside links yet, please replace h__p with http
Bump!
I appreciate any help guys >,< i want to send if back to warranty with a claim, if it really isn't humidity
Thanks
Get them to prove it is humidity, much cheaper for them to replace, consumer rights, use whats out there, threaten them, harass them dont let them win, its that simple!

That white stuff does NOT look like humidity. It looks more like :
A: thermal paste and overheated chip
B: superglue spill (but being inside the case, this theory must be dropped).
I would say you should insist to fix it on warranty.
Thanks guys, i'll try to harass them. It really doesn't seem humidity. What it seems is that they're taking advantage of me!
The phone here costs 329€ and they're asking 220€ no fix it
You should ask them to prove it to you that the white stuff is humidity. From what I know, they have to prove you're guilty, not the other way around (where you should prove you're innocent).
Btw, does the i9000 have a humidity detector sticker or some other tech?
I went on holidays and when i came back i opened the phone again and all that white stuff.. just vanished!
If it was humidity, as in limestone residues, it wouldn't vanish!
What the hell was that!?
Anyways, regarding the humidity detector, i saw in one forum one guy with a small WHITE square inside the battery cover.
In the service manual the same square is BLACK and mine is also BLACK
Is this one? And what does white and black mean?
Thanks again

I have no idea what the square is for (mines also black)
But i think you have a fighting chance of winning this, Like said before, they must prove your guilty in order to refuse you warranty.
If you contact them demanding it to be fixed as your are 100% sure the phone has never seen water. Then someone's gotta' give and its gotta be them..
just bullsh!t them saying your seeking legal advice regarding this, and say "do i look stupid enough to leave a $400 phone near water ?? "
if they say yes, you must seek revenge

Furniture grade. Bamboo is technically a grass, but the walnut, ash, and ebony are all sustainably grown hardwoods from North America.

How does the toast custom skin process work. I've designed one online and added it to my cart but afraid to pull the trigger since it's $74. Say I went with the ebony can they do the custom image in ash or can it only be burnt into the ebony? About how long did the whole process take from submitting order to you getting it in your hands. Can a custom cutout be applied to the capacitive buttons of front skin instead of the standard cutout? Also can volume rocker, power, and camera covers be ordered in a contrast wood? TIA

Sorry for the delayed response!
You pretty much have free rein with a custom cover. Just upload an image file of your design and tell us how you'd like it laid out in the instructions. Once received, our custom cover designer will work with you to get your design all dialed in prior to sending back to your production team to be crafted. You can request certain parts or the entire design be etched into / cut from another wood and inlaid into the main cover, however the inlays can cost an additional $5-10 since it's a bit of a process. You can also email our designer a additional images or text and he'll incorporate it into the design. He will continue to send renderings and even switch up the woods until it's to your liking. If it's not coming out how you'd envisioned it, you're welcome to cancel for a full refund at any time prior to approving a rendering. We keep your design on file for your future covers at discounted pricing since it pretty much bypasses the rendering process. You mess up install, we'll craft you a complimentary replacement. If you your device is replaced under warranty, we'll craft you a replacement at half price. Oh and by request, we'll throw in button covers in other woods; just mention it in the instructions. We also offer complimentary replacement buttons.
You will receive the first rendering by the following business day (Monday - Friday) and Rob is quick to respond. With the high volume of orders, we're at about a 1-2 week craft time, but the whole process should be less than 2 weeks. You can get a better idea of our capabilities by checking out our IG: https://www.instagram.com/toastmade/
As for the capacitive button cutouts, I'm not quite sure what you're going for. If you were wanting us to craft the cutouts in another shape, it would cost a little extra, but Rob can work with you on that.
I think that covers everything. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

You guys are super nice and patient even with my indecisiveness. Robbie got back to me quick with a revised design and options for ash inlay. I'm waiting on my final rendering with a few touch-ups but I'm sure Robbie will get it done. I will definitely give you guys a good review once I've installed the skin.
