Changing splash screen and logo for G4 cid locked - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

It took me sometime to figure out how to change my splash & logo on my K-Jam.
First of all you have to create them as shown in Change all 3 splash screens (new tut and scripts included) (many thanks to the-equinoxe). But follow only the first and the second step. Just create splash.nb and HTC-logo.nb. Then you have go to [How-To] Install any 2.x ROM in a CID-Locked G3 or G4 Wizard ( many thanks to Isidoro) and read carefully the tutorial. Download and use your existing rom. After extracting the 9 or 7 files included in nk.nbf, replace the splash file and the HTC logo file with the ones you have created first and also rename them like the original ones. After that create nk.nbf again containing the Extended Rom,OS, Splash & HTC Logo and install it using RUU.
Remember to full backup all your data and read carefully the tutorials before proceeding.

THREE splash screens after flashing the latest I-Mate ROM

I just finished the flashing of 2.16.9.1 WWE from I-mate.This rom offers us THREE splash screens which was only one before. The 1st is HTC Screen(ugly),2nd is I-Mate(more ugly),3rd is WindowsMobile(I love M$-Blue).OMG,we get a gallery when it starts...
Any good folk has any idea about changing them?
Cheers.
The older Qtek aku2 has the same set of splash screens.
adaik only the 2nd one can be changed via ie. the aWizard tools
Ooops, sorry for my stupid excitement...I didn't do that flash...
I tried the aWizard3b2 to change it and none of them change... on the 2.8.7.1 ROM did it change the bootloaders too? (aren't IPL and SPL the bootloaders?) IPL/SPL after the 2.16.9.101 they are 2.16
I used the sample bootscreen to make sure I was doing it right. I am going to try and see if the nba splash screen file from my rom dump prior to the upgrade will work
update: no even using the nba file aWizard3b2 does not replace the splash screen. any ideas?
what worked on the 2.8 Qtek aku2 rom is putting a bmp (several are posted on the forum, use search) as the 2nd splash screen using awizard tools.
My bootloader is 2.08
Awizard cant write, following error:
CopyFileToTFFS(unlocked.bin:0, 0, 00010000)
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred.
:S cant update the splash :S
did you enable rapi using aWizard first?

I have the same error since the new i-mate rom.. Not only while uploading splash screen, but also unlocking, etc. Hopefully they'll update lokiwiz for this new rom..
BTW: It feels like this new rom boots slower.. Because I see all three splash screens for about the same time as I saw the ONE before. So 3 times slower?? Did anyone time it?
i also see the same 3 splashs with the i-Mate rom update. used aWizard to replace splash, everything seemed to work fine (no aWizard errors) but alas the Imate splash & MS Win logos remain... =(
just FYI
I get the same internal write error, after I upgraded.
i did use a bmp file in awizard (one of the ones on the xda ftp site) and it aWizard3b2 didn't change any of the 3 boot screens. Isn't there suppsed to be a place to put a bmp file in the windows directory to change the bootscreen?
Bootloaders are 2.16 in the 2.16.9.101 file.
Hi guys,
I have been researching this for days.
1) AWizard CANNOT change the 2nd splash screen with the latest ROM, it used to be able to, it now cannnot until it is updated to work with the latest rom, which I hope will be soon. On mine (latest imate rom) it fails with the ITWritedisk:blah message.
2) AWizard never had the capability to replace the first HTC logo. I understand this is a work in progress, and someone needs to find a solution. Anyone?
3) You can easily replace the 3rd) (microsoft windows) splash screen by connecting your device via active sync, and then browsing your pockect pc on your pc. Go to /windows and find the .png file called welcomehead.96.png Simply replace that with your custom png in the same dimensions.
If anyone finds a way round replacing 1) or 2) with the latest rom, please post it here. I gues we need to wait for awizard to be updated.

I can't replace the PNG file, nor can I un-read-only it with Total Commander. It doesn't "take".

are you copying straight to "\windows\" from your desktop? If so, try coping to "\temp\" instead, then on your PPC itself copy from "\temp\" to "\windows\"
That worked... thanks....

Need help in Cooking Custom Rom

Plz help me!! I'm Newbie to Cooking Custom Roms. Please tell me how can i do the following things becoz i searched the internet and didn't find anything. How can i
1.create A custom 2nd Splash screen.
2.set a custom 3rd splash screen.
3.Set a default custom theme.
4.Make it customize(Install new softwares) when Windows Mobile starts for the first time.
Thnx in Advance.
Please use search before posting this kind of questions.
Answers to ALL of your questions are here numerous times.
Some hints:
You really dont have to 'cook' a rom to get what you want.
For the splash screens you have to create RUU nk.nbf files containing the image you prefer.
The theme can be created in various ways, but normally you would want to create a .tsk file for that
Modify the customisations requires to build a customized extended ROM nk.nbf that can be flashed via RUU

[DEVELOPMENT STOPPED!]HTC boot and WM6.1 splash screens

*** DEVELOPMENT STOPPED! ***
Hi everyone!
Initially I've started this thread because I wanted to have back the default HTC boot and WM6 splash screens. I have flashed with a ROM that had replaced these boot screens with other images which (hope the cooks won't get too upset because of this) I did not like.
So I went searching and searching all over and when nothing popped up, wanted to ask someone - by starting this thread - to cook, make, replace, do whatever needs to be done for me to "get my default screens back". I'm sure you figured it out by now that I didn't succeed, either my thread was unimportant or nobody had it, anyway...
Read the Wiki article over and over till one day I said "I'll do it!" - and I did.
That's how the old "request" thread turned into today's thread.
Initially wanted to keep it as the title states it, "Default" but that would have meant the end of this thread. My buddy fktsndr popped in with a few more links from his great reference thread and the idea became clear. I'm currently thinking about extending the thread to wallpapers too, but have not made up my mind completely yet.
Now enought with history.
Fell free to post any of your work, request, observations and ideas, but please, do keep in mind a few rules before posting:
YOU ARE FREE TO USE ANY OF THE FILES POSTED HERE, THOUGH YOU ARE DOING IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
1. Do not take credit for someone else's work. Feel free to post but specify the author/source!
2. Do not double post.
3. Do not leave any posted work without a screenshot/image. Users have to be able to see what it's all about.
4. Read the Wiki page for creating your own boot screen ROM.
5. Test the files before you upload your work!
6. Do upload archived (zip, rar, other) files since uploading images directly somehow makes them smaller.
7. Will figure some more out!
Happy modding!

Default HTC and WM6 boot screen available!
For those of you who want a classic look of your Trinity while booting, I've made some default boot screens suitable for white and also black Trinities.
See post #6 for the files!
Cheers!

Good work, thanks
The files!
The white and the black splashes.
I tested the ROMs flashing from SD card, renaming the ROMs to "TRINIMG.nbh" (without the quotes) and following standard procedure.
Cheers!
OS splash screens!
For the WM6 OS splash screens, below is the original WM6 green splash. I've also made a black one to suit your "dark" needs
The file name should be "welcomehead.96.jpg" (without the quotes). Copy over to DEVICE\Windows.
For overwriting issues use a third party file browser like Total Commander.
Good luck!

HTC animation:
It is a cab file, you have to copy to device and install it.
Splash Screen WITH NBH extension:
-Select a rom package
-extract is to a folder (you will get these files in the folder: RUUresource,RUUGetinfo,RUU_Signed,RomUpdateUtiliy,Rapitool,Enterbootloader)
-delete the RUU_signed.nbh file
-copy here the splas screen nbh file, and rename it to RUU_Signed.nbh
-Run RomUpdateUtility (of course plug the device to usb)
Note: itt will flash only the splash screen, not the full rom!
Welcome screen (os splash screen):

Thank you Sir ,..!!

create custom splash

Hello,
I know there are guides and tutorials about creating your own splash for the diamond, but I tried for hours and i can't create the final NBH (I'm stuck with the NB file), I get an error in the final step that I can't fix. I'm attaching the image I would like to have converted to nbh to load as my splash. Could anyone please convert it for a Diamond nbh file and post it.
Thanks!!

How do I change the very first splash screen?

Hello,
I've got from a friend who works in HTC a sample of the Touch diamond 2.
The phone is fully working but I would like to change one thing:
WHEN I SWITCH ON THE CELL, THE VERY FIRST SPLASH SCREEN THAT APPEARS SAYS: "SMART MOBILITY - TEST ONLY NOT FOR SALE".
Does anyone know a way to delete the sentence "TEST ONLY NOT FOR SALE"?
Thanks
..use an other rom! changing the splash screen menas a bit cooking!
Flash a official rom, that should fix it for you. Most cooked roms here dont include that first loadscreen.
I tried!
Guys, I have just installed a new ROM (EnergyROM_TOPAZ_20090921_StandardM2.5) but nothing changed..the "test only not for sale" sentence is still there!
Any other idea to replace the phrase?
Thanks
Maybe you could just look away when that phrase is displayed
Hi,
look at this Post. I.ve attached there a file to change the first screen
If you want to make your own look here's HOWTO (sorry, but only in german)
cheers
[HOWTO] change first SplashScreen
I,ve decided to write a Tutorial for this in (my poor) english. Even i don't know if someone needs this
Maybe some MOD can edit the title of the thread.
How To for the exchange of the initial SPLASH SCREEN
Important: I take no responsibility for any damage!
The image that appears when you turn on the device and then displays the versions of radio, ROM and protocol
HSPL is needed!
Here we go:
We need a 24BIT *.bmp in a Dimension 480x800
Extract the content from the attached file to c:\
Put your Picture in the new created Folder
With CMD (start menu, run, cmd) change in this Directory by typing: cd c:\Splash HD
Now type: nbimg -F *.bmp -p 18400 (* = name of your Picture) to start the Conversation
There’s now a new File in the Folder e.g. *.bmp.nb. Because we need a File with 786.432 byte it’s necessary to check the Dimension. If it doesn’t fit delete the File and go to next step.

To got the right Dimension you must use the Difference between with the following command: nbimg -F *.bmp -p 18400 (18400 is for Example, please use your calculated Value). Repeat Step 6. and 7. until you’ve got the right Dimension
When this is done type: htcrt.exe and then close CMD
Click on Build!

Ignore warning by choosing Splash and finally click Build!once again
Now we have a flashable File.
rename *.nbh to TOPAIMG.nbh.
Copy TOPAIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button.
Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
After that your device with have a white screen with text " Press to power button for continue upgrade or Press Volume down button for cancel upgrade , select press to power button and it will start upgrade Rom.
Reset

Followed your instructions, doesn't work as planned, picture is shifted about 8 pixels right, and does not fill the bottom part of screen!
Sorry, but i don't know why. I made a couple of Splashscreens with the method and didn't saw such a problem. Please post me your picture, I will have a look at it
try this way
here you go
run go.bat.
do what it told you to do.then you got a splash.nbh.
flash it.

ok on further close scrutiny, the picture is rotated right 16 pixels and the bottom 100 pixels are not displayed (I made a grid to work that out, how sad am I)
The picture I'm using is this http://www.mobinations.com/en/cell-phone-wallpaper-preview.php?w=ford-mustang-[6].jpg
obviously I convert it to a 24bit bmp first!
Have saved bmp from jpeg in both mspaint and photoshop and have same result, are they to fault? what do you use to make the bmp?
Ok, i will look at the picture. In the meantime you could try the file below attached.

After my nightshift, i've downloaded the picture, converted it with MSPaint to 24BIT bmp and ... flashed it and all is ok didn't see any failure. Below is the result.
splash screen problem.
Hi, I tried all the files and methods above and the splash screen changes.
However the bootup sequence of my splash screen is now different, but it still didn't get rid of the carrier splash screen (China mobile) in my case. I'm a little stumped, so if anyone can give me a hand on this, it would be great.
After flashing it now boots as follows:
1) it boots up as the New picture after it has been flashed.
2) China Mobile carrier splash screen.
3) HTC splash screen.
and then it boots into the phone.
Is there a way to get rid of the splash screen for china mobile in the 2nd step?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi lcd4linux. Do you have the original HTC boot up .gif? You know the one where just the brand "HTC" with white letters comes up on a plain black background.
The Vodafone boot up is just too... red for my taste

still can't get rid of carrier splash screen
Hi all,
I still can't get rid of the carrier splash screen (China mobile). I want to either remove it or change it to something else...
I have tried everything on this forum.
I've used the above splash.zip, and also the topaimg file, and the very first splash screen changed to the pictures provided.
Also, I have used lcd4linux and bl4ckb1rd method for changing the default windows splash screen.
HOWEVER, what I want to do is change the boot screen that has the carrier splash screen... that doesn't change, even when I flash a new rom such as dutty's leo r4 rom, or the energy photon rom.
Again, the bootup sequence is:
1) 1st splash screen - Which has been changed using lcd4linux and the files provided by angdolphin by using a topaimg and flashing it.
2) Carrier splash screen (china mobile) - WHICH STILL DOESN'T CHANGE.
3) Windows 6.5 splash screen which has been changed to the splash screen provided by lcd4linux and bl4ckb1rd by copying 2 files into the windows folder.
I read somewhere one other way to change the carrier splash screen is to flash a stock rom. Any suggestions?
Stuck.
Thanks heaps everyone.
