I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but is there anyone around Los Angeles that might be willing to help me SIM and CID unlock my MDA? I am willing to pay for your services.
I have already thoroughly read the instructions on how to do so, but my PC desktop is really old and a bit buggy, and my PC laptop, at the moment, seems to be trashed by a virus. The only other laptop I use is a Macintosh so I cannot do the process using it.
Anyone willing to help out? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks guys!
Is it G3 or G4? What IPL/SPL are you running and what's the current rom? PM me

I can tell by what im reading here you all know your stuff very well. I, on the other hand, do not know what the heck your talking about %90 of the time. I HAVE searched the threads to see if I can get some straight info on my dilemma and cant find a simple enough answer to follow. So, im going to ask the question knowing it may have been asked and answered before. This time, im hoping, someone can give me an answer in laymans terms I can actually follow and perform.
My question is this:
I have both an O2 XDA Mini S AND a Cingular 8125. Same unit, different look. The O2 is UNLOCKED, the Cingular is LOCKED. I prefer the Cingular unit but Id much rather have the O2 OS and software. I was told if I was to re-install the O2 operating system (is this known as the ROM?) onto the Cingular device I would not only get the best of both worlds but It would also effectively UNLOCK the Cingular device at the same time (which I need as im not a cingular customer).
Can anyone tell me HOW to do this without all the confusing info and big words. Im not an idiot, im just not inclined technically... at least not this way.
I have used threads on this site to unlock phones before and im very good at following directions. But when the directions start asking for Radio versions and other things like that I just loose it. Is there a simple way to just erase whats on the 8125 and load whats on the XDA Mini S? If I do this is everything going to be screwed up and require a bunch of fiddling around to make all the features work? I dont want to improve on anything, I just want the functionality of the O2 with the form of the Cingular.
Any help with this would be great. I dont require anyone to tell me to search the forums for an answer. If thats what you feel you need to do, just dont post. Ive searched and cant find what im looking for.
Thanks to all those who make this site possible. You make the devices I love work for me when others cant.

Have you already read this thread ?

It's hard to be more clear than this...
Bye 8)
Wow, just read that post RANGEL. Im beginning to think im simply too much of a beginner to do something like this. As I said, im not an idiot, but im not inclined towards this type of stuff. I was hoping for a simple, link to link, step by step walkthrough of how to, quite simply, put an unlocked O2 OS onto my Cingular device. I have no idea what all the technical jargon on that thread you liked to means.
I think ill just take the safe route and stick with my unlocked O2 XDA Mini S and not mess with anything. The last thing I want is to mess up a $500 device. Ill just sell the Cingular device on e-bay.
Thanks for the link though. Unless something much more simple comes along I need to be smart enough to know when im outmatched.

pavmentsurfer,
I also noticed (it is hard not to) confusing style of these forum. We are maybe just too old...
There are just too many typed letters in these messages. Some threads are speeded on more than 15 pages.
Who can read all that from the beginning to the end?
This link, rangel sended, is one of the easiest, but...
I made copy/paste to word all relevant (I hope so) lines. Otherwise it is too hard to follow guide across thread, because it is too many noise around main speaker/writer.
I recently eBayed a Cingular 8125 and have successfully SIM and CID unlocked it. BTW its a G3.
It still has the really downlevel ROM on it and I thought I would ask for some suggestions what to upgrade to before bothering to flash it.
I HAVE spent almost a whole day reading the upgrade forums and am more confused than before. If you're using some firmware that does what I want and are really happy with it please tell me what you're using and why you like it or if there is some downside, tell me that too.
My highest priority uses are painless use of multiple different phone networks via swapping SIM cards and easy detection, connection and access to unrestricted WiFi networks.
I'd really appreciate hearing from at least one Wm6 user too.
Thanks
gepp
Take a look at the WM6-section here. there are lots of WM6 Rom's. Read carefully all information about the Roms and then decide, which one is best for you. Or even try them out.
If someone should tell you, which is the best ROM, everybody would favourite another one. So noone can give you an objective advise, which one will fit your needs best.
I have joined the XDA community a while back and I learned a lot about my windows mobile device, seen lots of great apps and fixes but the best of this forum is how people work together for making each others' lives easier.
I have one huge favor to ask: I recently switched to android and tried to root it and I bricked it. I found a service that will fix it for 60$ and I need someone to help me next time I try to root it, just make sure that I do everything right through yahoo/msn whatever. My phone will be back in 3-4 days and if anyone is willing to help me, Thanks in advance

I can probable help, do you have google chat?
yeah, peoples here are good. it's not very easy to brick your phone here. Just make sure if you want to flash the Danger SPL aka Haykuro's SPL aka Death SPL whatever you want to call it. That you upgrade your radio first.
Also just to throw it in, you wont have to flash that SPL if you just use Firerats MTD partitions bootloader for the big roms you may want to flash.
Thanks
I have Yahoo and MSN but I can get google talk if you can tell me a few things about the rooting process

Hi,
I'm looking for someone who is officially registered in the beta program, didn't update yet, or is willing to go back to Oreo to start over.
I want to capture the update.zip file(s) for the community. No root is required, only a bit of your time and patience.
Note: I'll have to remotely connect to your PC via TeamViewer. Only offer your help if you're comfortable with that.
Keep in mind, I have an S9, so its not in my interest to get it, its in the community's, I just offer my help.
Have a good one.

Guys, we figured it out already on the s9, so its no longer rocket science, just do your part, and let your community know that we're looking for someone who can officially register in the beta.
I'll take care of the rest. But I'm not part of this community, so I need your help.

Can you explain how to capture update.zip rather than asking for access to our PCs? I'm sure some would gladly provide it in that case, whereas otherwise they may be hesitant to let a stranger control their computer.

I gladly would, but the method can easily be patched by samsung by tying the DL link to device verification. I am not disclosing my solution on any public platform. If you want assurance, take a look at the s9 thread. But I'm willing to accept anyone contacting me who is in doubt, but registered in the beta. I can discuss the rest with them.
I'm not withholding any useful information, I'm just being cautious. We had way too many scammers in the S9 community and just caught one in your community. If you don't trust me, I understand that as well.
Once again, I don't have a Note 9, so it is purely a gesture to help the community after asking and failing to get help from G965F users who dumped the updates using root.
BTW: Before I connect to anybody's machine, I explain what I need, i get the relevant person to download and install anything that's necessary, and they are free to disconnect any time they like. I'm only there to guide them, and catch what I need to be able to provide you the update.
Also: If nobody comes forward to work with me, I'm sure its just a matter of time until you get it. I was just part of a community that impatiently waited for the 2nd update and the hotfix, and I was driven to get a solution, so I thought I'd offer my help here as well.
Search first...
