Crossbow Windows Update *Warning* - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I did a windows update and now my wizard wont pair any bt devices and alot of crazy stuff is hapenning. I cant change my Today screen sometimes i get calls and sometimes i dont. I dont get any messages now.

that sounds like a classic M$ windows update to me.. i would say everything is working fine

If its true what you say about the update why did you even try it or it did it automaticaly. but shogunmark is right sound like microsoft. LOL
Update: Sorry i thought that it was a wm6 update but still thats m$ doing

Windows Update Concern
I connected to windowsupdate while I had WM6 installed. Was I the only one who worried that M$ would come and get me because I was connecting to the site with a not yet released rom?

im just trying things out

did u actually install an update from windows update or just did a check

people tried calling me today and the phone didn't even ring.
I tested this once by calling myself, I had to turn the phone from standby for it to ring. Very wierd.. I am confused because I really like crossbow but the radio on it sucks right now.
Not sure which version I should rollback to

Threre is no radio on the WWE crossbow that you installed. It still has the old radio that you had before the WM6 ROM install.

As far as I know, there isn't any updates available to WM6 at this time.
I have tried to check for updates a couple of times, but no available updates.
ABOUT THE WINDOWS MARKETPLACE: I mailed and asked for an demo-account.
I then got an answer (froma nice lady) that said that access to this demo account was strictly for the MS developmenet team. And she asked me to accept her appologies.
I then replied that i fully understood this, bearing in mind that thie WM6 ROM isn't released yet, and that im in possesion of a pirated WM6 ROM.
That didnt conscern her at all. She asked me what I thought of the ROM, and if I had any pro's and con's.
So were not able to use marketplace as of now. :-(

Do you know why she did not care, cus windows does not have a WM6 beta testing so the only way that it can work correct it to 'leak' it and let poeple like faria sort it out for them!!! Show where it can be made better! With out them windows would not be able to do anything!

Lol... ive thought the same thing for years now. Its funny how we all want windows products, but the first thing we do is tear them apart and tweak them. I think microsoft might let it leak out on purpose. This makes most of the blame not thier fault (the leak is like an alpha) and it lets ppl find bugs and fix problems in thier software that they can easily fix later. Faria and molski and the others are nothing more then unpaid microsoft employees (we should do something about the unpaid part )

I think its more like this.. We are able to see the potential in a decent product and work in our spare times to make it more functional despite some of the M$ bugs found along the way.. But we all work together as a community. If you want to donate i would consider donating to the board first, this is where we all come together to make things happen, there is alot of work that goes in to them besides the person who puts it out there

Update
It is microsofts policy not to collect any personal information when your device connects to windows update. You won't be caught but who knows.... They might launch an update to mess your phone up before release... As for the updates there arn't any it's still in development. I would tend to agree about the radio rom

Then its a problem with crossbow, the phone doesn't turn on by itself when the caller hears it dial.

O2 V1.11.171 Now Available

Just checked the o2 site and it seems this upgrade is now available, not tried it yet but will tonight
hi, which site are you downloading from?
www.my-xda.com
Any news on whether it is worth upgrading to the .171 ROM? Seems as though the radio is back to 1.00?

We are waiting for more info about the new rom!
Might be an anomoly but I tried the 171 ROM modified and my device has hard reset twice, with the original ROM the phone stopped working and needed a hard reset to sort it out, twice.
Think I'll keep to my 162 ROM. How's everyone else found it?
http://www.my-xda.com/xda2i_soft3.html
here's the direct link for 1.11.171 - just downloading and will let you know how I get on after discovering that 1.11.170 (blackberry)didn't work with radio version as supplied.
Hi!
When I have install it. It apeared the radio 1.100
So still old radio, not v1.104

that is correct. Radio 1.104 is not compatible with the Blackberry system. This is the main reason that ROM 1.11.170 was removed from the o2 website as it had upgraded the Radio version from 1.100 to 1.104.
Hi! I've just bought an O2XDAIIi. I just wonder which ROM version I should use to upgrade my XDA. Could anyone give me an advice?

I'm using Blackberry and have upgraded to the latest o2 ROM - 1.11.171. If you aren't using Blackberry, try using Pugs cooked version of 1.11.169.
Is there any change to Blackberry functionality on 71 over 69?
Won't be changing if there isn't.
I belive that if your using the o2email open and not the BES version you won;t lose your Calendar options.
We use BES so no need to change then - thanks
Well ROM version 1.11.171 seems to be as stable as 1.11.169 and I don't have to use the workaround to sync Outlook Calendar.
I wonder if o2 are going to release more XDA phones that can use Blackberry - I quiet fancy the o2 Atom but it doesn't list BB which is a shame.
171 ROM is the BT reliability resolved
Symbasean,
Stating that the 171 ROM is as stable as the 169 ROM is a little bit of a two edged sword for me.
When I applied the O2 ROM last October / November it trashed my bluetooth functionality, effectively making my Jabra 250V a large black ear ring and the XDA 11i an electronic chocolate tea pot, for use in a car.
Can you sense my frustration with O2, who offered me £10 off my next bill as compensation and then didn't give it to me.
I switched to one of PUG's home cooked ROMs and this has been 80% successful, but randomly fails to deliver the sound.
His version has been a saviour, but would the 171 be an improvement for the BT stability and reliability?
Sorry for the incredibly rambling first post. :?:
I upgraded to the new software last night and have noticed one small annoyance. I used to be able to to deactivate GPRS by clicking the connectivity icon in the title bar and tapping disconnect. Now the disconnect option isn't there for GPRS. Eventually I discovered that I could turn off GPRS by holding the end call button.

two points:-
1. please spell my name correctly.
2. "Well ROM version 1.11.171 seems" - note also the word, "Seems". I make no direct comparison on stablity, only that mine has not crashed - caveat empore......
Apologies
Symbaseian
Sorry for the mistake.
I shall try the ROM and see.
I have to agree caveat emptor is an appropriate warning with this particular device.
If it worked as well as it is should, straoight out of the box, it would be excellent.
But it does have some way to go, and without the likes of these forums, it would not happen.

I totally agree. When I first got one of these I couldn't use TT3 let alone TT5 without it locking up all the time if I used anything other than my old 128mb Compaq SD card, but having listened and learned on this forum and also on pocketgpsworld I now have a stable XDAIIi with blackberry.
It's taken a long time to get to where I'm fully happy with the device (except camera performance - but I very rarely use that anyway) often involving Tomtom tech support, o2 tech support and these forums. If you feel happy using Pugs ROM version without blackberry please go ahead, but for me that's not an option.
It's just a shame that we have had to co-develope to get a product that is finally starting to show everything that it first promised.....

When is CIngular supposed to release the AKU2/ADP2 ROM?

Does anyone know when Cingular or any other US carrier is supposed to release the new ROMs that support PUSH email?
cingular is said to be releasing it in the 2nd quarter of 06. the exact date is of course...unknown.
Well, cingular has usually SUCKED when it comes to supporting devices. They are only interested in selling new ones... and the marketing behind doing so. So I wouldent hold your breath. Do I sound bitter? :x
Later; Lew
The reason I ask is that my ISP is screwing me. I am having a problem getting DirectPush to work. And they are telling me that they will not support it until a US carrier releases a ROM to support it. What sucks even more is that 4smartphone works just great with PUSH but my other ISP wont even help.....
Does anyone know if any WM5 device by any US Carrier released DirectPush?

None yet, and Cingular has only commited to providing the AKU2 update for 2125/8125 "in 1H06", meaning sometime between now and June 30.
The HP 6900 *might* come out prior to then, which will have AKU preinstalled, but I don't know what carrier is picking up that device.
I'm suprised your ISP hasn't alredy isntalled Exchange SP2..it offers much more than just enabling push.

Just checking, since you didn't say, but you are using one of the AKU2 ROMs on your 8125, correct?
If so, something strange is afoot. Either your ISP really doesn't have SP2 on their front end servers, or they've gone and disabled push, which is enabled by deafult on SP2 install. I can't think of any reason to disable it, unless they plan to charge an additional fee for it or something.
Yes I updated to an AKU2 ROM, 2.16.9.1 to be exact....

How quickly things change.. A US carrier just released the AKU update. It was released by Sprint for their 6700.
It was just released and Sprint customers are having a heck of a time finding it online or finding stores that have received it. But it is officially available to Sprint business customers.

Thanks your awesome... if only I could find something official on Sprints site.... all the links in that post were invalid....
@jocojr:
I'm betting the solution to your problem can be found in System Manager for your ISP's exchange server. They don't have the Direct Push checkbox checked in mobile settings. This checkbox is right under the one that enables SMS based AUTD 1.0.
I have found that I was unable to set up a direct push connection until I checked that. Once checked, I was unable to set up a SMS based connection btw.
Sleuth,
Thats what I think too, but without me seeing the settings its hard to know what they did..... But they swear everything is setup correctly.
Joe
Cingular has always been big on hype and short on follow through. Like lewcamino has said, I wouldn't hold my breath. It took them almost 5 months after the announced release date to get the 8125 out the door. Also look back to other false starts and half baked promises such as "blue"/"orange" network integration, Push to Talk, 3G, and various promised devices.
Personally I do not think they will put much energy behind DirectPush. IMHO, the bean counters probably figure all that data traffic will drag down their profits. They are content on selling overpriced text message packages, cheesey ringtones, and their new video service.
I am personally happy with the QTek ROM. In fact, my 8125 only had the official Cingular ROM for all of 20 minutes. That is how long it took for me to install ActiveSync and install the QTek Beta ROM. Last week I upgraded to the official AKU2 package. So far everything works perfectly.
I've also upgraded my 8125 to the K-Jam AKU 2.0 upgrade. The radio stack has worked much better than the stock rom as well. I think cingular will get around to providing the upgrade, as Sprint has recently done for their PPC-6700/HTC Apache but it might not be until early summer. Why wait for Cingular when you can use it now?

Windows Update on ATT Tilt

Ok; So I notice that many versions of windows on the ATT Tilt have a "windows update" button. I know that this is a newer concept used with wm6.1 but is it even worth it to have it in the rom or is it just an idea that has been implimented but will not be utalized for a while? I know some cellular companies were going to try FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) updates but the main concern has always been about the customet toasting the device with a FOTA update that goes wrong.... Any ideas anyone?
as far as i know no device ever had a working win update on them
ms never implemented the server feature in their end
You should be posting your tilt questions on the kaiser forum!
I thought about putting this in the kaiser forum but to my knowledge other phones and wm6 versions have the windows update. That is why I posted here. I was hoping someone with a different device and rom may have some input. I could have fixed the title of the thread a littl better I suppose...
I know that I have it on my HTC TyTN II (non-original ROM), and that it doesn't work.
it works actually just never updates nor installs anything, must be synced to a dummy server

Microsoft put it in so they have the ability to update. They haven't used it yet but they might in the future.
when i first got my tilt i ran it out of curiosity and if i remember correctly, it found the windows mobile green theme file as an update to wm6 so there has been at least 1 update pushed out through this server that is IF my memory serves me correctly.

Ummm this is the Kaiser forum isn't it
i have only used the feature once and i see no use in it what do ever. i have only seen it being used to update the windows live program and that was the only time i saw it used. other then that i have never seen it being used for anything else.

the bottom line here folks..

ok so i have a wizard.. a g3, and i've done it all now.. i've tried all the roms (amp, snn, hornet.. brushed)
and with each came it's flaws, whether it was battery consumption, irratic or unintended operation, or missed calls.
i finally settled on a rom (TNT something or other) that i liked, i liked the rainbow at the top giving battery status.. altho it began to chew the battery like a hungry dog on food scraps. and then i checked my voicemail, just arbitrarily.. EIGHT NEW MESSAGES. turns out the whole world was calling, and leaving voicemails, and i was completely unaware! (yet another rom busted)
i'm in the process (actually just finished) reflashin my original cingular rom back on the phone.. i have thrown in the towel.
so i have started this thread, to see, if one of the mega-brains around here has some ideas for me.
i read somewhere that changing radios might help.. but i don't understand why i have to change radios; this one worked before i started dickin with this phone!
so the question is: should i have gone forward with this radio changing, would it have really helped? or is every rom out there just too buggy to deal with? am i really better off attempting to cook my own, or should i just leave the whole damn thing alone and upload HTC home customizer and smartskey, like i had back in 2006..?
i mean i've lost everything at one point or another; stability went away with some roms (crashing everywhere), most every rom lost the MMS capability (could send, never receive), most every rom lost the ability to send an email from an SMS (Which was big for me, but i think it was related to wm6) now the rom i'm using (which is not the one in my signature) doesn't receive calls, missed calls, voicemails, and most text messages.
was all that i have learned on XDA a bust, or is there ONE MORE TWEAK that i needed to perform that would have made my phone... a phone again?
I would just keep looking until you find a rom that suits your needs.
I've used these two roms for some time and both work realy well with my G3 Wizard.

The first if you like cube thingy, the second I use now because it is very very stable, good battery life 2-3 days of use and 5+ days on standby.
Never missed a call, loads of memory and storage I can not fault it at all.
P.s. my radio is 02.07.10
I'm with the original poster, I have a G3 wizard and almost ALWAYS miss phone calls, NEVER get informed of messages, and I can't justify the inability of the phone to work as a phone for the gadget end of the deal. I have the TNT WM 6.1 build 20273.1.3.3, Radio 2.71.11
OS 11.0.4.0
ipl\spl 2.26

The general consensus here (this issue has been discussed over and over in this forum) is that radio 2.19.11 is the most stable, and should solve your missed calls/messages problem. It solved mine.
By all means, Cook your own ROM. It's the only way to get the ROM you want and it's not that hard. It only took me downloading and flashing 2 ROMs before I said "to heck with this I'm cooking my own".
so
you say if i were to have gone to the 2.19 radio i would have finally beeen happy? i mean missed MMS messaging and phone calls and voicemails and all?

I had the same issues... missed calls, voicemail, text message alerts not appearing all due to one thing, wm6 and 6.1. One thing that helped me out was to have data connection (GPRS/EDGE) turn off automatically after a set ammount of time and BAM! no more missed calls. Advanced Config program will do it easily or GB-SOFT Tweak. Hope that helps! Also, 2.19.11 radio only helps a little also....

Same goes here for me too!
New Phone
Don't you just wish you had a new phone whenever you wanted? I do.
Every time I flash a new ROM (and I flash OFTEN) I get a brand new phone to play with. (I'm not an addict, I just do it because it's fun )
If I just wanted a phone that worked I could use any non-smart phone. They all have PIM's now and lots of them have QWERTY keyboards.
I agree that there does not seem to be any perfect ROMS and that statement includes the OEM's. A complex device makes it nearly impossible for everything to be perfect (just look at the desktop version of Windows!)
Sometimes I too get frustrated when I flash the latest and greatest and find out it's missing something I "need" and have to start the process all over.
But, when I can afford my new Fuze, I'll still be here screwing with it!
Just my 2 cents.
(Hi! I'm Rob and I'm a ROM flashing addict....)

Well....... I never had missed calls with wm5 but the os generally performed poorly so it's a matter of what you value more having missed calls or better os performance. No jumping to conclusions here. I have trouble shooted this issue for several months. And I'm not the only one one with missed calls while data connection is active. Do and search and see the countless threads on this repeated issue. Plus, it could be a provider related issue but seems to be with both at&t and tmobile us customers. Glad you don't have issues though...

i think you are right because.. there's something that is different from 5 to 6. for some reason my gay AT&T needs to switch data connections to do different things. like if you connect to ATT data to surf PIE lets say.. then you decide to send an MMS.. it will have to unconnect then reconnect..? and wm6.1 rarely decides to do that on it's own (like when someone sends you a picture message)
By blaming your problems on WM6, you're jumping to conclusions...You really don't know what's causing your problems. If it was WM6 then I'd be having problems too, but I'm not, so how could it be WM6?
I could say that it must be your connection settings that is causing you problems when ATT switches connections for an MMS, but then I'd be jumping to conclusions even though that's a more likely cause than WM6 having a blanket problem.

Rom Advice needed please

Hi Everyone...
I have had mt HTC 8925 (AT&T Tilt Branded) for well over a year... I use this phone daily and love it... I have never flashed a new rom to it since I flashed the most updated at the time AT&T stock rom that was out the day I got it... It is still running on WM 6.0 and is great for the most part... Only real modification was I did the reset trick to advoid the bloatware... After trying MANY programs, some I liked & kept... others I removed... I have finally run into a snag where I am willing to flash and start over to fix the issue (my tomtom traffic won't update anymore, and after much trouble shooting, TomTom and myself think I need to "Reset the Tilt to factory settings" or flash it to a new rom... I was hoping to get some advice from you guys to which rom should suite me best... Here are some details..
The phone is unlocked, and I use Einstein Wireless for service... so I do not need AT&T or Tmobile settings on there, and I prefer no hidden proxies or anything... I will manually enter my carriers internet and mms settings..
I use a lot of WiFi as my providors internet service is slower than I would like
I use it as a GPS (with TomTom) almost daily...
I installed the HTC Home Plugin and love it with the weather updates.. would like to have that incorperated with whatever rom
The radio version on stock rom works great for me.. so something when paired to do simmilar settings on that ?
I use the S2P, S2V2, and S2V .... So I can install those or if any rom has them in it...
I have a good sized micro SD (8gb at the moment) so I tend to install jsut about everything onto the SD card.. maybe a rom where that is the defautl location or something ?
I use MS Voice Command daily...
I play games on it regularly.. love works, ka-blom, pac man, emulators, and others...
I use wireless BT2.0 stereo headphones for MP3's and such
I stream music and video from my home computer using orb
I have used IE Mobile, Skyfire, and other browsers.. I jsut want one that works well...
I love an iContact (or type) contact program
As you probalyl guessed, I like it to be as finger friendly in general as possible...
I have used a few programs so I can use the phone as a webcam when connected via USB to my computer, woudl be great if it has that built in as well
MMS/SMS managing software would be great.. I usually keep recent txt's for a while after receiving them... something that say only keep them til you have a certain amount or after a certian amount of time passes would be great....
Of course, I would also like the rom to be very stable as well if that isn;t too much to ask..
I am open to trying to some programs/features that I have not used before... and I don't expect any rom to do everything I have listed above... The main thing will be to get one that I can set up the internet easy enough without having to worry about hidden settigns for AT&T or other such carrier... If you have been using a rom that you really liked that you think would work for me, let me know... Thank you in advance for reading this and sending me you suggestions....

So let me get this right.... You have a standard Tilt, minus the bloatware which you're happy with (and have been) until TomTom stopped working with traffic updates. You're now considering changing the ROM to fix the problem Why not just hard reset after backing up your stuff and do the bloatware free reset trick again? Oh and mods don't like 'ROM Recommendation' type threads (read some of the sticky posts to see why) so if people post saying ROM x is better than y, this thread will probably be locked to stop any arguments breaking out. Also TomTom will be less likely to offer support with cooked ROMs - I was told they wouldn't even support a HTC Default WM 6.1 ROM, only the WM 6.0 ROM the device (and TomTom) came with (one of the reasons why I had my device reverted to WM 6.0). Good luck with your hard reset
+1 on the real issue being Tom Tom traffic, as you seem pretty happy with use and your exisiting configuration. I'd try to find a WiFi hotspot (where Tom Tom can also see satellites) and see if Traffic will update via WiFi. Could be Einstein is blocking Tom Tom traffic over GPRS.
still new to the kaiser/tilt/tytn II, etc(less than a week) so not in a position to really give any real advice, but what helped me in my decision is reading through PureSkillz reviews of the roms and seaching with google outside of xda to see what people are using and that helped me with my decision, T-mobile sux in about every way, so if it is good on T-mobile it'll probably be good on anything else. What I had a hard time on is choosing the right radio for my device but luckily the rom i chose allowed me to use whatever radio i wanted and I am happy with my setup and don't plan to change unless something radical happens in the scene. I am running Tomtom 7 on my rom and it works perfect, but i dont have internet via my provider cause they charge way too much so i use wifi. the one thing i don't like about this rom is lack of landscape support but hey, cant complain if i'm not smart enough to cook my own stuff.
see my choice in my sig below. Aloha
Thanks... It isnl;t an einstein blocking issue.. I already tried the WiFi... The problem started right after I installed igo GPS program to compair the 2... I have since uninstalled igo, but tomtom still wont; connect to traffic.. I talked ot them at tomtom.. they were very frienmdly with troubleshooting.. went htough a million steps.. even gave me an additional free year of traffic as well for the problem, even though it isn;t their fault...
Thank you... I read that... and thought I woudl advoid those "argument" because I wasn;t trying to ask "What is the best rom"... I was trying to ask what rom would work the easiest for me in my unique situation ? That is why I listed how I use to and what software I use... But thanks for the input... I considered just doing the hard reset.... I just thought if now I am wiping my phone and starting over, which rom would give me added advantages...
And on the TomTom not working with 6.1..... My son bought a phone like mine after he saw me using it so much.. when he got his (After me) we grabbed the newest offical rom form HTC's site (he actually uses AT&T prepay, so the AT&T software is ok for him).. It was WM 6.1 and his TomTom software works fine.... So don;t let that stop you from using 6.1
I have downloaded the Athine OS WM 6.5 Final as well as the Hyper Dragan III from Christmas day, 08 as many people reccomened... I have to decide between them now... You have any experiance with either?
