WM6 battery problem - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Guess WM6 really has some battery issues... and they are NOT coused by BatteryStatus. I think it has something to do with going to sleep mode, sometimes battery is OK other times its not... Yesturday when i went to sleep i had 90% of battery, after 7 hours it dropped to 35%... Probably some aplications that i installed dont know how to manage the sleep option in this rom, or the rom has some problems with it... its kinnda sad, since i have to charge pda twice a day now
Thinking of going back to 3.3 ...
P.

oh and not coused by batterystatus is couse i didnt have it installed for few days now, just to make sure... but had smatrskey and omapclock set to 240...

battey
I'm using the orwell rom and to my suprise the battery life rocks. I think I got about a 20-30% increase. I don't know why though

WM6 edition ?? where to get that rom ?

Don't have any problems with battery life! Seems to me too that WM6 improved it!

They might turn up in time, you'll need to wait for the Hard SPL before cooked ROMs appear. There's mention of the Elite ROM project making a 6.5 ROM, and there's normally a lite version.

Yeah, same for me, around 60% and about 53% when using it without TF3D, but kinda starting to like the touchflo interface...

Hi memory useage is down to heavy cache settings and opera always running in background. It could be brought down but then TF interface and opera would not be as responsive. There is still plenty of mem free so suits me fine. Prefer responsiveness over free mem any day.
Cheers,
Beasty
what good is RAM if the device doesnt use it? its not a bad thing if more than 50% memory is being used imo, after all thats what its there for: to be used if the device starts slowing down because it needs more memory than it has, thats when its getting problematic.

[Q] Maybe Noob Battery Question?

I'm on the Fasty 2.3 rom and I just cant seem to go more then 12 hours on battery life even on light useage. The only thing I keep on is my 3g service, which is all the time. I've also tried using battery calibrationaters (lol) and none of them seem to calibrate my captivate.. I think. What's a good app to monitor my battery and also an app to help me calibrate my battery in case I'm doing it wrong somehow?
I calibrate by charging to 100% and then rebooting my phone but my phone seems to drain at the same speed no matter what I do. I installed Fasty from stock also.

Lol, I've been reading and I guess there's a bug with the Android OS or something and it'll run high if your phone is on for a long time. The fix is just to restart.

Great, Thats amazing 67 after 18 good going mate.

Cyanogenmod 7.2 battery life

How's u guys battery life on CM 7.2? On my Ace, it seems that the battery is discharging much faster than the stock rom.
What would you suggest? I read something about battery life kernels, but not sure what to do.
Thanks,
It seems it may be a false battery charge indication. I saw a couple other threads about this. i tried a calibration app, but it didnt work. I even charged to 100% and reset in clockwork. As soon as i unplug, it went down to 92%, then 10 min later, 80%. This is just on standby!
Any ideas?
Battery calibration is a myth! The battery_stats.bin file only has info for the battery use screen.
Not sure about it now, but cm7.2 used to have battery drain problems.
What rom are you you using?

Battery calibration is not a myth, the myth is saying that helps you battery life, what it really does is give you a more accurate reading of the battery charge. Your battery will have the same life.
Your battery life on any CM will drain faster than on a stock rom, maybe a bit better, but not much of a difference.
You need to charge your phone to 100 %, check in settings, about phone, state (i have my rom in spanish, so i don't know if it will say "state" it's just a guess) and the first option you will see says "Battery State" and it should say "Charged" or something that tells you that it's done charging.
I mean, when u charge your phone, although u can see that your battery is full, you should wait until in the lockscreen says "charged" instead of "charging" or something like that.
Hope it helps!
I am in the process of calibrating right now. I charged to 100% and now im draining completelto 0%. Then recharging back to 100% with no breaks. I got these instructions from another thread. Ive got every radio on (gps wifi bluetooth) and the torch. Been that way for over 2 hours and it says 16% right now. Ill let u all know what happens. Thanks again!
Oh im on the last cooper version that says stable. I had trouble with thr touchscreen not working right on nightly for some reason. Any known issues with this one?
Cyanogenmod have battery problems, especially if you are using an unofficial version. If this is your case, you can try use firekernel, otherwise use the official one, some say it have the best battery life.

Be careful, force the phone to discharge fast can decrease the battery life. I think the best to do is use it normally during the day till the battery finish and look if is there some application using lots of cpu or if the deep sleep is working right.
Watch for the torch app, the app itself says that u should keep it on 20 min maximum i think.
I didnt tried nightly, sorry!
I did try stable and everything worked perfect i think so it should be fine

i hear ya. i dont think i burned out the flash led. i left the phone on all night (not the torch) and it finally died. Stayed on 8% for at least an hour! so now i have to charge it back to 100% with no breaks.

how long is it that you have your phone?? battery could be damage maybe? :S
if u want to stick with cm, you can flash Apocalypse rom, based on cm 7.2, it has very good battery life. Using a based stock rom u could try the sg s2 version 9 (based on stock rom) with very good battery life too and very fast

Should i just backup with clockwork or use titanium? I have alot of time invested in cm 7.2 stable. I hate to lose it.
Also can i just copy the backup folder to my pc without damaging it?
Thanks for the help!

I have not rooted my ace yet and had been reading tons of documents on the pros and cons of rooting and most of them if not all of them were saying that CM aids longer batter life. Here you seem to contradict that claim.
Can you please explain?

CyanogenMod basically means = fast (besides nice looking haha) and it also has different options to save battery (i don't remember an example of one of them), but being fast costs you battery life. For example, Apocalypse Final version with blackhawk kernel with antutu benchmark gave me a 2200 score (without oc), with firekernel (the one that brings the rom) it gave me a a number much lower (i think it was 1900). But using sgs2 v9, the one im using right now, it gives me a 1900 score and i can say it is fast enough and battery lasts longer that using any cm version.
i know bechmarks are not exactly, it's just to explain my point of view.
With cm u can have good battery life too but in a stock based rom battery will always (or 80 % of the cases) be better.

Yes, it's usually what most people do, leave the original copy of the nandroid backup on your sd and make a copy of it and save it in your pc. Then if everything went well after flashing the rom you can just erase the copy of your pc
i just did a backup with both. the CW backup is much larger. Is this because it backed up the whole rom? Like a clone of the phone?

Problems with stock 4.3

I know that is too early for that, but i will have to notice an issue that bothers me:
im using a stock Portugesse (vodafone) 4.3 and i feel dramatic battery drain.
Does anyone experience same problem? i have the same daily usage like before ...
Use wakelock detector to see what's draining your battery. In my opinion 4.3 si much more battery friendly than 4.1.2 .

After flashing the uk version of 4.3 and after a full wipe the phone is very smooth and the battery it's ok, like 4.1.2 before. I'm from Romania and i flash a rom version from uk, so it fits from another country...
4.3 bricks internet browsers close every time I use cf autoroot for root and without root the same problem.
i'm from Germany, got the update to 4.3 for about two weeks now (carrier is vodafone) and my battery drain is killing me. I got betterbatterystats on my phone for a while and now i got a wake lock i've never seen before. My phone doesn't go into deep sleep AT ALL because of the wake lock mdm_hsic_pm0 - what the hell is this? the words deep sleep dont even show in the app because the phone is awake all the time. I am checking my open apps in the manager constantly and i tried closing pretty much everything. The wake lock still doesn't disappear..
My Phone needs about 9 hours to go from 100 % - 10 %, last night it went completely out while i was sleeping (8 hours, 70 - 0 %)
I already read about the different storys regarding the battery drain under 4.3 so i am 99 % sure it has to do sth with this update.
The wake lock doesnt show with anything like fast dormancy, i am using 4G most of the time, internet is fast and i almost never use wlan and gps (so theyre always out)
please help me finding the source of the drain
I had the same problem on my n9005 but an update fixed it. In the meantime you can try an app called DS Battery Saver from Play Store.

This morning, the battery was also almost dead, when i tried to charge it, nothing happened, not even after putting the battery out and back in.
Solved the problem by using a different charging station.
And then, next funny thing - mdm_sic_ ... was gone for almost all day. But now its back, draining my battery again...

[Q] Cyanogenmod 11 battery issues

Since i switched to Maclaw's CM 11 about a month ago and i had no trouble with the phone untill i updated to version 3/8 and the versions after that..the battery gets drained fast even when the phone is always underclocked to 200 MHz which never made an issue for me in terms of being a bit slow.
It used to drop just 1% every 15 min with heavy data use..a lot of the time it even lasted more than that! Now drops 1% every 5 min or less with the same heavy data use!!!
What went wrong?
It's just CM 11. Remember, it's still under heavy development, so it's not 100% yet. Don't worry, they'll get it fixed.

Got a lot better with Carbon without doing any more scientific research into what was eating my battery. If you still have CM installed, maybe a simple "top -m 10" in an adb shell will give a clue to what the power drain is. (I'm new to adb and forget how easy it is can be to have a linux shell on my phone. :silly

well i found out that my solution didn't really work. but i now have a new solution which seems to work, i got this from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2683451 by factorexh
1. tick "set on boot" at governor and i/o of cpu, then set governor to abbysplug and i/o to sio
I set it like this and it seems to work but not 100% sure since it's the first day
So i installed Carbon and left it for 2 days and the battery was better but then i flashed CM back and the problem was still there. So i flashed the Stock rom back, rooted the phone then installed CM...at first everything seems back to normal but later that day the battery little started draining faster!
I thought that maybe coz i disabled/froze some system and built in apps that it what caused the problem but now i made sure i didnt disable any app, only force stop some non system appsm j and found the battery still draining!m
I have only 4 things running in my "Running apps" section:
1- Settings
2- Greenify
3- Setcpu (underclocked to 200)
4- Smart keyboard trial
THAT'S ALL!!

i don't know about that maybe your batt is demaged but still
CM11 the 20th 3rd 14th version mentioned a change about battery life.. they update the zip very often just check if the zip has another date in the name then flash it...
and try to change what i said above.. about stock i don't know how to help but i have my battery now for longer than half a day on and it's on 64 with display on mid-high
How fast is the battery charging(with the original charger). If it charges from empty to full very fast, then it's probably a bad battery. Both mine and my wife's battery has died on us after just a year of use, so it seems like the sIII mini's batteries is not lasting much more than 400 cycles.

It charges from 20% to full in about 3 hours or a bit more. Is that bad? Original battery and charger.

It's the original battery, i havent changed it yet. I've just started using this phone like 2 or 3 months ago!
I'll see that governor trick, it may help. I'll update to the latest CM and see if there's any difference and keep you posted.

Yeah, i've noticed. It's kinda a pain to keep downloading and flashing on a daily basis though.
Do you have Wifi/mobile data on during those hours?
I dont have Skype nor Viber, Whatsapp, Facebook messenger and all those messenger apps.
Mind if i asked you if you disabled any apps? System or downloaded?
And what's your current LCD density? Mine is 200, i tried to go for 180 but the phone started acting a bit weird.
