windows vista for pda2k - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

hello :
I have read before I write this
is there any vista virsion for pda2k
please help and I want the url for downloading
thanks

Windows Vista is a PC platform, and no version is available for Pocket PC! In 2012, it is expected that a processor will be created for a handheld, capable of running Vista. If you can wait that long, I can assure you that at first it will be expensive!
No, you cannot run Vista on a PDA2K.
The project codenamed "crossbow" is soon to be released as a Pocket PC Operating System, and is reported to be LINKED heavily with Vista - that is not to say that it is Vista Mobile.
Our techie gods are currently attempting to port it to the Blue Angel, and I wish them the best of luck.

WM5 & ActiveSync

Is there ANY chance to use WM5 with ActiveSync 3.8 or lower version :?:
At home I have Windows XP SP2 and I can install AS 4.1 or whatever we need. In office it is XP SP1 only. The PC cant be upgraded. So, is it possible to sync WM5 devices with pc running Windows XP SP1????
Any help / hack would be appretiated.
The answer is NO ... so far I know... WM 5 is only work with Activesync 4.0 ....
I wish, there is some HACk. Else, I will have to literally watch the TuMa 1.4, 1.5..... 2.0 etc etc releasing and me remaining in the crappy WM 2003 SE

Blue Angel on Windows Vista

Hiya People Just writing to let you know that i'm a windows vista beta tester and it will not accept downgrading the blue angel from windows mobile 5 to any rom of any sort on vista as it complains that the device is not compatable for the rom (another bloody problem made by Microsoft)
I tried my BA which runs WM2003SE (not gone WM5 ever) on Vista pre_RC1 last week. It only saw it as a MP3 player, I tried everything to delete the profiles Vista created so that I could educate Vista that it was a little more than a bloody MP3 player without sucess. So lets hope RC1 or later sorts that out as MS state compatibility with both WM2003SE and WM5. Perhaps it was not your BA, perhaps MS have not got Sync Centre working yet (forgive my ignorance if this is not the case) for anything other than basic MP3 players and Media Player 11!
I think the problem here is Activesync (or rather lack of it).
For those of you who don't know, Vista will not let AS be installed on it as it has been replaced by Windows Mobile Device Center. On the newer builds it is actually disable but I am informed it is still there - don't worry.
The tool used to upgrade AND downgrade the BA requires AS for the connection and I believe that is why it is failing.
(WMDC has been disabled on builds 5536 (Pre-RC1), the leaked 5552 (Pre-RC1) and 5600 (RC1 itself)).
vista+wm5
i also tester of vista and i even install the last rc1 of vista but the bif problem
that it no way to make acticsync you get the error message as i look over
the net its seem that microsft is aware of this bug i also hope so
in vista you don't have to use activesync , there is integrated application for syncronizing, i have posted screenshots before, search the forums.
In pre RC1 build this application does not work, but in previous versions it has worked just fine with my Blueangel with WM5
So wait a lil if you want all to work smooth, this OS is still in development stages, the bugs have been fixed every day in it
I am Vista technical beta tester too
RC1
I just got the RC 1 Download email. Its coming down now. Hope things improve.
rc1 just came out.. tested it for about a week.. plugged my BA in.. nothing. it recognized it as an mp3 player. anyway... the replacement for activesync (windows mobile device center) isnt included because there are many bugs at the moment.. but i am told that they are almost done and whoever does have vista will soon see the wmdc in windows update

I dont want to let you down, but there is NO versions of WINDOWS VISTA available for BA and all PPCs, at least for this moment. The reason getting you confused may be the themes/skin created by Wisbar Advance. Do you know this wonderful software for our PPC World?
Vista...
Open your tomtom soft type "Vista" then search,
may you find...
What about Vista...
can you tell something?
is that skin?
is that Mobile Operating System?
Is that interface theme software plugin or program ? such as 'Wisbar'
Or what?
If you want MS Windows Vista...
Goto wwwdotmicrosoftdotcom
I don't fun with you that's true.
But here you can ask about only Windows mobile based systems,
I think that must be...
thx.
Why do all of these people think that vista is for pocket pcs? I've already had to explain it to one guy.

Anybody have an official ISO of complete Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit?

So I'd like to re-install the OS on one of my machines, but I only have an original Vista Ultimate DVD and separate SP1 update.
As the procedure to do this with my old disks is to uninstall SP1, reinstall the OS, and then reinstall SP1, suffice it to say that this would be a huge P.I.A., and it would take hours longer than it needs to if I had the right disk.
I'm not looking for a cracked version... rather, I want the real thing (got my own license keys, thank you very much).
Any help appreciated!
PS. Same thing would be great for 32-bit Vista Business!
y not Windows 7 beta.
u can download a copy from microsoft.com last month, now the offer expired.
sorry
but MS have copyright on the disk so we can't help you here.

Upgrade to Win 7 without new installation of programs?

Hi guys,
as I read through the threads the upgrade to Win 7, same as the downgrade to Win XP, always requires the new installation of all software application programs that are not bundled with the OS.
i.e. MS Office, FireFox, Navigation software, ......
In June 2009 various news sites confirmed this obstacle.
In the last days I read that there will be (possibly) an upgrade that will not require the user to re-install the application layer programs.
Can anyone confirm or deny this statement.
And if it's confirmed will it be possible for the Shift?
Thnx a lot, guys
If you are upgrading from Vista, it is fine - you can do an in place upgrade and it will bring all your installed programs across.
If you have downgraded to XP, the only way to upgrade whilst preserving all your install programs is to upgrade to Vista first, and the upgrade to Win7 - there is no direct path from XP to Win7.
Regards,
Dave
Yeah, but Vista is still lurking, isn't it?
I'd rather endure installing everything twice (XP and Win7) than have Vista anywhere near my Shift!
In fact I did

Hi Dave,
thnx for your information.
I haven't done any downgrading (XP), not even the SP1 for Vista.
I have only liberated the Shift.
The OS is as shipped from HTC, only application programs installed.
If I do an inplace upgrade, will it get rid of all the Vista stuff that slows down the device? Meaning, will it be as good as a "complete from scratch" installation of Win 7?
Second, which version of Win 7 should I get? Home, Professional, RC?
And where do I get it?
Thnx a lot, cheers

Yesterday I made a full backup image of my Vista installation. Then I upgraded my HTC Shift to Windows 7 Enterprise RTM from MSDN.
The upgrade process took 3 hours, because it had to migrate 300.000 files and settings from one OS to the other. Before the setup I had 15GiB free on the HDD and after that 18GiB where free! So upgrading Vista to Windows 7 won't leave any old memory chunk on the HDD.
I only had to reinstall the Touchscreen Drivers. Everything else was still there: Several network shares, desktop widgets, explorer settings, all the applications with theirs settings, my two Outlook profiles with their on Exchange setups and so on.
Windows 7 itself also responds faster than with Vista. With the same auto-start applications I have more free RAM available and the OS itself looks much better.
So I can only recommend you to upgrade your Vista to Windows 7.
There is no need for a clean install, as long as your current Vista setup isn't anyhow broken.
After this Windows 7 experience I hope that the prejudice against Windows upgrades will be a thing of the past.
edit:
For the Windows 7 upgrade your Vista needs to have SP1 at least. I upgraded a Vista with SP2 and the latest Windows Update patches. The setup has to be started within Vista, otherwise it won't allow an upgrade. And you don't need to burn the Windows 7 DVD. You can mount it in Vista into a virtual drive or you can extract the ISO files to an folder. Before the first reboot the setup copies all the necessary installation files onto the local HDD. So after that the DVD isn't needed anymore.

Well i followed these steps - and when windows 7 boots the touch screen did not work as stated - so i downloaded the drivers from the HTC shift page, installed them. Although they did not error - they also did not work - seems to install properly but still not touch screen.
Also when I put the screen to 1024x600 the device bluescreened as it did in the pre-release versions..
Has anyone got Win 7 working (MSDN Release) and all hardware working; if so please share your steps.
Thanks
Kris

MS have stopped distributing the RC now, but they will still provide product keys for it until Oct'09 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/download.aspx).
You can get the full RTM version of Win7 if you have an MSDN or Technet subscription, but otherwise you'll have to search the usual sources for a copy of the RC iso (not promoting warez here!).

Dave

Hello,
please try to uninstall the the VistaECDrvV1[1].0.1.10 driver first, then reboot, install it again and reboot again. Afaik I did this to activate the touchscreen driver.
Good luck!
And about 1024x600: That is a known problem. The Intel driver creates a BSOD as soon as you use a resolution higher than 800x480. The current workaround is to disable the Aero effects. With Aero Basic you can switch to higher resolutions without crashing the system.
I hope this will be fixed soon.
