Ok guys, I believe I've found the regkey to fix all the dropping wifi issues within WM2005. This has been tried and tested on my Blue Angel SX66 Cingular with the hack listed in the wiki to get up to WM2005. Anyways, to the patch, unfortunately I don't know how to make cab's so follow along. Get yourself a registry editor (i.e. TRE) and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\"Your Adapter Name. Mine had 2 keys, tiacxwln and tiacxwln1, tiacxwln1 was the ticket for me" Within the Parms folder you'll find a DWORD value named ResetOnResume which should be set to '1' change that value to '0' and hit ok in the bottom left corner. Give your BA a soft reset and all should be good. I haven't tested this for side effects, but it now reconnects to wifi on resume without a hitch. Please post results back here, I hope I am not jumping the gun!
TIP: To find your adapter name go into Settings>Connections>Network Cards>Network Adapters and look for "xxxxxxx Compatible Wireless Ethernet" again, mine was called 'tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet'.
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!
This has been my number one gripe with WM5, everything else as just been small annoyances. But this one... I use WiFi a lot, actually almost every time I turn he thing on. I even got WiFi in my car! So thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Oh, do I have to say that it really works? Qtek 9090 btw.
You who try this, don't forget to turn off the unit for 15 seconds before you do the soft reset, this flushes the registry.
This also appears to work on WM2003, at least with my SX66 running the current revs from the SX66 Standardization Project.
WOW ... its perfect ..... you're realy MAN !!! thx thx thx.....
I've updated BA_WM5_FIX.CAB so that it sets this registry value:
ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blueangel/wm5_test/BA_WM5_FIX.CAB
with this registry setting wifi on my BA will not stay off. anyone else getting this?
Yes, I see the same thing. Now suspending the unit will turn on wifi on resume. So is that a problem for those who worry about battery life? Probably. Do I care? Nope! But then I'm in my own home around 90 % of the time, within reach of the charger. No, I'm not a slacker, I actually run a business and work 8-10 hour days, but I have my office at home!
Sorry guys I don't understand what's happening. What's going on with the wifi?
brn2prgrm: On WM5, if you turn Wifi on, switch the device off, then back on, Wifi does not resume. This action was default on WM2003SE. The registry key that makes Wifi resume by itself when you turn the device back on was found, and then integrated in the WM5 patches CAB. That's basically all
Eh...it was he who found that key! What he's wondering about is why it isn't possible to make it stay off when you have enabled this key, even if WiFi is off when you suspend, it will turn on when you turn on the PPC again, which it didn't do in WM2003. It was restored to last state, on or off.
Another thing: Has anybody tried this hack with the wireless control app from the Universal that was posted here a while ago, to see if it stays off then?

I think there is a TYPO in the cab file.
I found the reg setting as tiacwln1
Shouldn't this be tiacxwln1 ????
yes, it is a typo.
I've removed the mistyped key from BA_WM5_FIX.CAB and made a BA_WIFI_FIX.CAB which sets the correct registry value. They are in the same dir on FTP
I don't understand the wifi thing:
I get some connections from my neighbours, but my own linksys won't connect?
What do I have to do to connect my MDA to my linksys router??
since I upgraded to WM5 I can't get my wifi to operate 100% of the time--for example, when I connect to wifi--the signal is locked then I try to send/receive my email and then my SX66 tries to connect via GPRS--do I have a setting that's incorrect? or is it because of this thread which is now patched?? HELP--I use my wifi a lot and lately I can't TIA!!

I'm waiting for a patch that does exactly what you thought off, restores its last stage. Not sure hwo long would it take to come out with it.
Anyway, I do not find it a hassle to Turn On Wifi once again instead of it swtiching on by itself upon power up..... I use wifi a lot too though, but haven't found a prob with it.
how about a registry patch that fixes that bluetooth auto turn off annoyance?
O2 XDA IIs (wifi)
Hi , I have recently upgraded my 02 xda IIs to WM5 ,
after applying the patch , wifi worked for a while , then now when i try wifi again, i get this error.

Someone please help me.
I've tried it all!! The wifi will not turn on at all. In the settings tab and under connection, the comm manager wifi switch pressed will cause the wait cursor to come up, but after the process it wont turn to on. Can anyone please help me.

Not Sure What you mean.
1. Go to comm manager
2. Hit WiFI and the wait icon starts (should be a quick spin and its on, but the icon goes on for a while).
3. Switch instead of turning green animates back to off.
I have not loaded anything other then SKtools that could change the registry or system in anyway (no other tweaks except Schapp's)
I looked all over this forum and found tricks for other HTC phones, tried one or two, but they are made for other phones. I looked over the GPS and in Google Earth disabled it. I have also done a hard reset. I also get a device.exe error.
Please somebody help us. My diamond's wi-fi doesn't work. I try a lot of tfink. I try a lot of time hard reset. And several times upgrade diffrent roms. Now i use 1.37.401 europa rom. But my diamond's wi-fi still not work.

Did you set your battery for best performance in the wifi configuration? If not, try it and see if it works then
Yes.. the wifi is not working ,... the same for the gps...

I have the same problem with german htc touch diamond and several roms.
I think the hardware has an error. Bull**** !!!
Has anyone an other idea?
I had this issue with my S710, if you turned the wifi on it would flip to on for a second before going back to off - only happened if I has it hooked up to a pc via usb. Not sure if its the same with the diamond?
I couldn't enable Wifi properly on my last phone despite hard and soft resets. After trying lots of times, I gave up and sent the phone back to Orange. I currently have a Diamond Touch that has no problems enabling, but can't connect to my router using WPA2.
I think I have the solution for wifi / wlan problems on diamond
Over one week i try to start my wifi (100 hardresets, 5 new ROMs) and then i believe it is an hardware error.
Under ...\connection\wifi\ was not the tab "wireless", only the tab "networkcards"
My last try was the solution:
1. In my HTC Kaiser is the same wifi-hardware
2. I export the registrykey "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETW12511" from the kaiser to a .reg-file
3. I delete this registrykey on the diamond and import the .reg-file from the kaiser
4. Before I can start wifi i make about 5 softresets and try to start
5. But the start was only successful when I make first a connection to the pc with ActiveSync and then a softreset
This is my solution, please answer me when it works for you too
One problem is still there: after an usb connection wifi will not turn on. I must make a softreset but thats no problem for me.
Its the same what "huwwatkins" describe at #13 with the S710
Here is my regfile from kaiser

I have heard of this... The wifi does not go on but the bluetooth does. I was told it was a bad chip.
same here, called retailer today. told me HTC is working on a fix. will be available in about two weeks. let ya know
Same problem here..
I have the same problem. Tried everything - no luck. Thinking of turning it in for repair - should I flash the original SPL/ROM for warranty reasons or can they tell it's been flashed anyway ?
wifi working fine on mine
i have no problems at all

Yes my diamond has this also only when plugged with USB.
Grtzzz
I purchased my HTC Touch Diamond few days ago and I have the following problems:
Item 1:
After testing several programs (Tomtom7, googlemaps, etc.) internal GPS has never work.
QuickGPS works ok (because in reality only uses the data connection).
The phone was originally with ROM 1.37.456.2, and I also tried with Elite 1.0 ROM. With both ROMs internal still do not work.
Any suggestion?
Item 2:
When I receive a call usually the "Answer" button is pressed in the case involuntarily. Thus the call is answered without knowing it.
Is there any way to minimize this problem?
Of course I appreciate any suggestions.
Ricardo from Uruguay.
Do you have A-GPS (Assisted GPS) enabled with AdvancedConfig ?
If so, disable it.
Very strange...
Can you give us your Radio version ?
Did change something ont the GPS settings ?
Please find the solution at my post

GPS doesn't work
I have Agps Disable.
I have already done many Hard Resets.
Now I am using "HTS GPS Tool". In the setting tab aI can see a lot of information coming, but Satellites used is 0.
Of course no other navigation software is working.
Do you recommend any other ROM?
Thanks in advace for any suggestion.
Ricardo.
I have the same problem
I have AGPS disable
The first time, i run my tomtom 6, it works very well, after i reboot my diamond, it doesnt work any more, i wait all the time for the signal GPS
I use the original ROM, but i dont think it is the ROM problem
This is a common problem.
Don't bother messing around with settings it wont work, just do a hard reset and the GPS should come back

everybody do that ?
If your programs wont access GPS, and you get no GPS by altering the 'external GPS' to com port 4 (program) and Com 0 or 2 (hardware) and ticking the 'let windows manage GPS' box, then GPS will not appear unless you do a hard reset

so, do u mean that, one time i do a soft reset, then a hard reset have to be done for GPS?
My Diamond once lost the ability to get any GPS signal, but this is how I fixed it...
1. Go to "externalGPS" then "Access" tab then Untick the checkbox then hit ok
2. Turn the device off
3. Turn it back on then tick the checkbox then hit ok
It should now find a signal (May take about 2 mins the first time)
I've spent hours reading every thread on here and other forums about GPS not working and changing every com port in gps manager, and nothing worked.
Its just so much quicker to do a hard reset.
Don't waste your time. If you can't get GPS back by changing the com port settings a couple of times, then don't mess with it all night. Do a hard reset and get on with your life
I had similar issues. Seemed to get solved for me by repeatedly selecting and uselecting the "Use GPS" in Google maps. Not sure if it's the same issue but it solved it in my case.
My gps stopped working, too. When I pleaded for help here, Akito gave me this solution:
"The HTC GPS tool is for download at http://rapidshare.com/files/84815853...C_GPS_TOOL.cab and it's discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477 .
In the first screenshot in that thread you can see a drop-down box which says "hot start". What I do is to first click the button "open"... then in the tab "sattelite" my problem gets confirmed (can't see any sattelite then). I go back to the first tab, I click the drop-down box, select "cold start", click Nav. Init. click the button close and immediatly open.... et voila, it works again. Sounds quite complicated, however once you've done it a 1st and 2nd time, it's a piece of cake lol"
It worked immediately. Try it - and you will send the kindest thoughts to Akito, too.
When I used HTC tool, the only port that could be opened was port 3 and 7. After opening either of these, when I pressed INIT, I got the response "Unable to Send NMEA command"
So there was definitely some problem with the GPS being "seen"
Hi, Im using swifts rom 5, had no issues for 24hours, suddenly, after a Softreset and entering the PIN it says "No service" (but not all the time) It's only after a softreset. When I go from the phone-application into Menu-Options-Network and click the button "Find Network" then it finds my GSM-Network and everything is Ok.
Any thoughts on this? Using radio .05 for at least 2 weeks, never had this before.
Thanks

Chek on the phone options
You can either set the Network Manually or Auto.
Use manual that way u save battsssss
Luck!
Thanks, that actually helped! If it remains after I flash another rom, I will investigate it more
Until then, you saved my day!
You might have noticed that some times when you do a soft reset, your wifi is gone, (some say it is sktools problem), well for those who dont want to delete the sktools I have found a solution, and it is here in xda, is named wifiprofiles, all you have to do is set your wifi profile as follows
*DHCP = Yes
*Net Adapter = SWLDM201
*Enable wifi = Yes
*Reset proxy = No
*Unattended mode No Change
and voila wifi works again, no soft nor hard resets
Wifi Profiles
I'm using Omnia II i8000 running in WM 6.5. I'm just wondering, what menu will I get these wifi profiles?
Wifiprofiles is an app you can find here in xda-developers, you can browse it
Thanks so much for this workaround. It worked great for me!
Wi-fi
My wi-fi gone when install sktools. Hard reset and now was disappear when install adobe flash lite.
Now with wifiprofiles is OK.
Damn! This works great! Thanks
