Hi there!
I just got my MTeOR yesterday and was of course eager to upgrade to RUU_BREE100_1.32.251.1_1.29.00.10_HTC, but now i sorely miss the Bluetooth DUN profile and wonder whether a downgrade to RUU_BREE100_1.30.251.1_1.16.00.10_HTCEUR_Ship will bring it back?
Also does a downgrade work without any problems, i saw some "stuck in bootloader" e-mails here?
Do you have any idea which version was Pre-AKU3 and therefore still features the Bluetooth DUN profile?
It's pretty annoying having a Loox N560 with WM 5.0 PocketPC that cannot connect to a UMTS capable MTeOR which runs WM 5.0 Smartphone. How stupid is that?!
I mainly did the update to get HSDPA, but as i cannot even connect to the phone now... So i'd rather stay with a version without HSDPA that i can connect to, than using one that has HSDPA, but i can't connect to.
Pretty obvious or?!
Of course a tool for WM5.0 PocketPC which adds the Bluetooth PAN profile would also help, but i don't think there is such a thing
Thanks for your help!
Regards,
Tobias
Hi!
Have a look on this

With this Widcomm Stack the PAN Profile wil be there on your N560.
It´s ridiculous, that devices using code from Microsoft are most incompatible to Microsoft devices.
Thanks ElJogi!
The WidComm Stack is really ways better. Unfortunately i seem to have lost the Obex File Transfer capability now on the N560. At least it does no longer show up in the TotalComander context menu. So no incoming and outgoing files, but Bluetooth PAN support, well that's better than before i guess.
Thanks,
Tobias
HSDPA workgin
Can you verify that you got HSDPA to work with this ROM version?
Good question pkg40. All i can say for the moment is, that there is a shortcut called SetHSDPA_Enable in the Windows\Start Up folder, which sounds promising.
However there is no HSDPA icon or something shown in the menu bar as far as i can see (also now different icon for GPRS or EDGE). So the only way to test that would be to download a big file with some data throughput measureing tool.
If such a test shows a too low data throughput for HSDPA there is still the question whether this is caused by non HSDPA support or due to some other bottleneck or processing problems in the phone.
Most reliable thing to do would be to connect it to some HSDPA capable network tester. Probably we have such a thing at my workplace, so if i can get hold of one i will give it a try.
Cheers,
Tobias

ok can someone tell me if there is a way to set the kaiser/tilt to use wifi as the first option to connect to the internet. im looking to upgrade from my 8125 and im looking at the iphone and the tilt but i want to be able to use wifi easily unlike on my 8125 where its a hassle. the iphone's first option for a connection is look for wifi and then if not found use the carrier data................ please someone help
I have moved from a hermes to a kaiser with O's HTC WM6 rom.
I can confirm that the kaiser does use wifi if its on, even if there is an existing directpush/3g connection (unlike the hermes which would still use the 3g unless you killed it)
I’m here on the coast at Keesler Air Force base. There is no internet to speak of and I do not want to spend roughly $1,400 to obtain it through a Cell provider for my laptop. I setup the Internet Sharing on my TILT and it works somewhat. Well, I lied. It stays “connected” however the damn thing peers off and the laptop continuously loses connectivity.
I only use Skype and sometimes webmail with the Internet Sharing and it cannot handle it. Every minute, sometimes up to six minutes, Skype videocalls and standard webcalls are dropped and I test the internet connection to see that it’s timing out for another minute or so and then it magically reappears.
I closed all applications and the antivirus crap to ensure that there was no extra throughput bandwidth. Anyway, I’m about to lose my damn mind here because I cannot stay in contact with my fiancée who’s on the other side of the globe right now.
According to the phone I’m only getting the Edge network and that makes sense as there are not 3G towers nearby. The signal continually shifts from two bars to four bars. I have used the Kraiser Tweak to enable HDSPA but that service is not being picked up.
Any ideas as to how I can keep the connectivity from dropping between the cellphone and the laptop? I assume that’s the issue as the phone stays “Status: connected” within the Internet Sharing application.
If it matters, I can only use the "Media Net" option under Network Connections. Media Net utilizes the wap.cingular access point.
I have tried to use the "ATT ISP GPRS" option but it continually loops through attempts to connect to the internet. Eventually it gives up without any success. The ATT ISP GPRS uses the isp.cingular access point.
Please any assistance would be most appreciated. This United States Airman is about to lose is frigging mind over the fact that he can’t communicate with anyone any longer. Ugh!!!
Thanks to any thoughts and advice to better my situation...
Oh and for the record, if it isn't understood being a Tilt, my provider is ATT.
HSDPA will not work without 3G service. MEdia Net is the best way to tether, I use it all the time. Make sure the proxy option is unchecked, or you will get very poor speeds and high latency.
What do you mean by HSDPA? Also, I tried with MEDIANET but I continually lost connectivity. However, ATT ISP GPRS seems just as bad if not worse. Any thoughts on something I can do to boost connectivity? I don't know about the proxy but where I looked one is NOT enabled.
I enabled IP Compression and Software Compression for ATT ISP GPRS and it hasn't seem to have any affect...
Thanks a lot.

You mentioned HSDPA, so that's why I said it. As for ATT ISP GPRS, you do not want to use that unless you have a modem tethering option on your AT&T account. If you go under MEdia Net settings, and then check the Proxy tab, make sure the proxy option is unchecked.
Allrighty, I've confirmed that the Proxy is not enabled. The only thing on the Proxy option section that is enabled is the first option where it says this network connects to the internet.
Any ideas on stabilizing internet on a 2 - 3 bar Edge network? If I do more than one task (more than one website OR a website and Skype) the internet gets lost quite easily...
Thanks a lot man.
Wow when I was over that way I dont recall have any issues with ATT and internet. When I access the net while tethered I use the ATT program that connects via laptop... Its not the internet sharing program.... Its called ATT Communication Manager... It may read as being tethered so if you dont have tethering on your plan then I dont know if id use it. If you have tethering it works great for me. Heres a link for the download...

You might want to try flashing another rom and radio. I remember I had an issue similar to this with my hermes from ATT. Swapping to another radio can definitely boost your signal quality. If your signal drops too low even for a second, it can cause major latency issues on the edge network( which WILL cause skype to dop a call ) . I recommend trying a ROM that already has a radio packaged in with it to save you the trouble of having to match a radio to a rom. Also look for one that has the network configuration cab built in so it can automatically set up your Connection settings for you.
Hope this helps
Allrighty... I don't have much time to research ROMS or RADIOS unfortunately. Any suggestions on where to find them, or what I might use? I'd almost prefer just to change RADIOS so long as I can find the original RADIO to replace any changes back to what I was using...
Currently, I have:
ROM 1.62.502.0
RADIO 1.27.14.09
Any help to further this US Airman along would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I used to be able to share my Trinity's net connection with my computer using Internet Sharing over Bluetooth PAN, and it was working well- 2x faster d/l speed than WMWifiRouter and with less drain on the battery.
But I wanted USB sharing , which didn't work under WM5 so i flashed a WM6 ROM under the naive assumption that a Microsoft upgrade would actually improve things... Then found out , to much wailing and gnashing of teeth, that not only does USB sharing still not work (I'm on a Mac), but that Bluetooth PAN Internet sharing also doesn't work under normal WM6 . It goes online for a few minutes then the carrier drops the connection... I guess that something in WM6 tells the carier (vodafone) that I'm tethering and disconnects me.
WMWifiRouter still works, but with the same high drain on the battery.
So, USB internet sharing is out for Mac, and the only option under WM6 is WMWifiRouter, which is too inefficient.
I' d rather have the old Bluetooth PAN functionality, which was twice as fast as WMWFR for some reason.
Do i need to go back to WM5, is this safe to do, or is there an alternative WM6 ROM with the issue fixed?
I searched the forum for hours but cannot find a clear solution.
Thanks for your time.
Hey guys im looking for a network security analyzer that can essentially sniff out WEP and possibly WPA keys on wireless networks.
Any suggestions?
Never on PPC, maybe in like 20 years.
Well that may be true. IDK. I was searching and found a few tools, but they are years old and all the links are dead now.
Well if you want to do this right you do it with Linux using Kismet, airsnort, airsnort-ng and aircrack. I suppose it's *remotely* possible you could boot up an android port on your fuze and somehow install those programs and get to a command line. On a Windows machine, all I know of is Wireshark, used mainly for wardriving.
As far as your phone goes, Airscanner is a packet sniffer that may work on your phone. But you have to start wifi and actually join the network you want to sniff (I'm pretty sure) so you won't be getting any wifi password but perhaps if you know how to parse data from a packet sniffer theoretically text someone sends on instant message to someone. If your Fuze is like my Tilt 2, you start it, hit continue for the 30 day demo (plenty of time for you to realize this is not going to help you), then select Broadcom 802.11 DHD Network Adapter (again, that's for my phone, not necessarily yours -- if it doesn't work keep trying others).
Then you have to somehow get this thing on promiscuous mode otherwise you're just sniffing your own packets.
You have to be very good and determined to crack even a WEP key with the right tools which you do not have. If I were you I would just ask whoever owns the router nicely to let you use their network. Or use GPRS.
Hi everybody!
I realize fully that the device has only simple GPRS even without EDGE. However, is there any way to speed up the BA internet connection ? Maybe it is possible to connect an external 3G modem or other external device or even make some modifications in hardware (if it won’t too much complicated)?
Thanks.
hi and welcome to the forum.
the only practical way to surf faster is to connect through wi-fi. connecting to an external umts source like another phone via bluetooth is not really an improvement, because bluetooth is also terribly slow, also, if you have another device that can connect faster, you should probably use that to go online in the first place. there are no hardware modifications you can make to get edge, umts, hsdpa or anything else.
