Hi all,
For some reason, about 6 months ago, my Alpine started refusing to install applications: when I run an application installer on my PC, it comes up with
"Error in Windows CE setup files: Application manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an error in the set-up file. reinstall and try again".
If I copy a cab file on the Alpine and run it from there, everything works fine.
At the time I was on the "Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped_Camera_Fixed" upgrade.
I had a backup of my original ROM on SD card which I have now re-installed, but I still get the same problem.
Is there any way of getting the Alpine back to its original state? It seems that something has been corrupted somewhere. Or is it the Activesync software?
Activesync 4.5.0 (build 5096) on windows XP
Operator version 3.11.1.167
ROM version 1.11.00.WWE
Date 01/27/05
Radio 1.03.00
Protocol 1337.42
Ext Rom 1.11.167
Thanks,
seg

I've done some research and can't find much on this topic -
I'm trying to run a program called Smurf - it requires that I have SQL CE installed on the device. I've tried 2 different ROM's (Alex's & Mobile Vista) Everytime I run the program it gives me a error about not being able to find sqlceme30.dll. The developer told me I needed to install SQL CE and gave me the MS link. I downloaded the program - however, under devices it gives you a ton of different cabs to install. My question is, which one do I install? I use an AT&T Tilt w/ Alex's ROM WM6. Any help would be greatly appriciated....
Thanks.
Dont mean to unbury this but I am having the same exact problem with smurf.
I have problems upgrading now, when I use Windows Vista Business and Windows Mobiled Device Center.
I had no problems [when I learnt how to do] with Windows XP and ActiveSync 4.5.
I have installed dotNetFx35setup.exe as I saw someone recomended in a thread here, but still it stops. I got "Error 260" - No connection.
Anyone knows a way around this? Please help... I'd be really happy =)
look into tytn threads...
i can remember that there is somewhere the same problem...
my tytn time is quite a time behind me so i don't know more... but there is a solution... hopefully not with an new updater... then we get a problem because you need an that don't checks that the nbh file is trusted!
Thanx. Will try to check around =)
Found and followed this HowTo: http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27 and now I'm with HTC MteOR 96 DPI Version of WM6.1 (260x320 Resolution) =)

96dpi is not for me, I'm using standard 131dpi ... and I've had trouble with upgrading under Vista and I combinatek runme.bat with "flashing" from SD card .. and It's ok
my steps:
first condition is unlocked phone, then
re-name and copy breeimg.nbh to microSD (formated FAT32) (insert microSD to Breeze)
run runme.bat countinueing until I get 3-color screen
then automaticaly start upgrading from microSD

hello,
i'm in real trouble.
the beginning of my trouble was:
i updated my kaiser with the new vodafone 6.1 rom.
from this point, i can't sync anymore...
i tried really everything what was suggested in google/forums and the forum here.
- hard-reset
- deleted reg-keys (partnership)
- uninstalled WMDC and installed real fresh
- rolled back to VPA Rom 6.0 and back to 6.1 because of the same problem
- tried every settings (advanced network mode)
- disabled firewalls
- .. and so on...
can't get rid of this f*** problem...!
any ideas?? i'll make a donation for the guy who can solve my problem without doing a fresh vista installation!
--> domain network! but there isn't any difference while syncing?
--> i can copy data to my VPA and reverse, explorer mode works fine!
--> Windows Vista x64 Ultimate
please can you help me?!
sorry for my bad english!

Which operating system are you trying to sync with?
First thing you can try is to go start, settings, connections, usb to pc and then untick "enable advanced network functionality"
let me know if that works or not I will give you something else to try.
1.Why don't you try another rom eg a hyperdragon's one.
2.Have you tried more than one pcs to synchronise with? Maybe you have problems with your pcs operating system
If still a problem might be a defective usb port.
Does WMDC even acknowledge your Kaiser?
Launch WMDC from the Control Panel, and then then connect your phone. Do you see "Connecting" pop up for even a second before switching back to "Not Connected"?
If nothing else has worked so far try this:
Go to Device Manager, delete the "Portable Device" keys, then go to c:\windows\inf folder (Make sure you can view hidden folders). Next, find the oemxx files until you find the one that has "Windows Mobile Smartphone" in it. These are numbered sequentially for each device you add, so you'll have to do a bit of digging before you find the right one. Once you find it, delete it and the corresponding .pnf file. Once you've done this, reboot your computer and reconnect your device and it should reinstall. Be sure to make copies of the files just in case you delete the wrong ones.
thank you very much for answering so fast!
answers to your questions:
-Which operating system are you trying to sync with?
--> Vista x64 Ultimate
- First thing you can try is to go start, settings, connections, usb to pc and then untick "enable advanced network functionality"
--> tried a couple of times ticked and unticked --> only gives back different rapimgr fault codes, but still no sync
defective UDB --> trided different cables and ports
connection to kaiser works very well (without sync)!
--> can see my kaiser in explorer an can copy files!
only syncing does not work :-(

Do you have HardSPL installed on your phone so you can try flashing a non stock rom? Alot of the sync problems on stock roms are fixed by the chefs when they cook their own roms. Look at the links in my sig for some threads to look at.

i thought about it...
but worrying about: why does WM 6.0 and WM 6.1 rom work anymore?
flashed back to WM 6.0 (asked vodafone for it!!) and the problem is there anymore?
i've read a litte bit about hardspl and flashing...
is it very difficult?
Guten Aben!
Any chance you can redo your Vodaphone update from a good XP machine? Sometimes it works when Vista doesn't.
It only needs to download Activesync from Microsoft's website if it doesn't have it already.
This happened to me a long time ago, it turned out that rebooting Windows PC after changing the network settings worked, just like in the old Win98 days. I am referring to the Activesync network setting.
For some reason the realtime registry edits for networking wasn't so realtime!
Good luck friend!

No its not difficult at all.
Read this guide I made for Flashing your First Rom its helped alot of people out and the steps are easy to follow
The guide has steps for flashing from MicroSD Card too if you dont trust Vista.
Try this. I ran into issues syncing with my Vista Ultimate x64 machine when running a particular cooked ROM, and this CAB fixed it for me.
I hate to ask such a mundane question, but you are running in administer mode with full access, right?
You can also check out this site http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/connectoverview.htm
SOLVED!
hy,
okay, first of all i have to thank everybody who wanted to help me!
but all things you suggested to me: i tried i weeks before i opend this thread.
i wasn't able to solve my problem --> donation aquired...
but i figured it out on my own (now, months later, one day later i opened this therad ).
but i think the soloution can help many users who whave sync problems ant the rapimgr 0x00... problem!
remembered that i had sync problems years ago under XP with an PPC2002 machine when copyied the sync.-profile from one machine to the other.
i remembered the HLKM\Windows CE reg keys!
i asked my brother for his HLKM\Windows CE reg keys! (you remember i asked in this thread also)!
checked the keys with mine and figured out, that my keys where completely different and many keys are missing!
i exported my reg keys and deleted them in the registry. (HLKM\...\Windows CE (look in ahead and you know whitch keys i'm meaning)) --> backup
then i imported the reg HLKM\Windows CE keys from my brother !
conected my VPA and TADAAAAAAA, working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think this can be another soloution for all guys who have problems with sync and an reinstall of WMDC dosn't do the trick!
wondering why an reinstallation of WMDC doesn't create the HLKM\Windows CE keys correctly???
thanks a lot for your ideas, even when they didn't help.
Glad you fixed it, if you can provide me with more details of the keys and values you changed i can test it out and make a cab to possibly help other people in the future

okay, i'll zip two .reg files (PC-Side). my "not working reg" and "working reg keys" from my brother that i imported.
i think WMDC is calling some dlls. when they aren't in the registry WMDC gives you a strange answer back...
still the question: why does a reinstallation of WMDC do not create these keys?
maybe these parts are interesting:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\SpecialDefaults\PocketPC\Services\Synchronization]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\SpecialDefaults\PocketPC\Services\Synchronization\Objects]
okay, here they are:

thanks i will have a look at them tonight
i am having the same problem except with windows XP and active sync 4.5
the odd thing is that it worked fine a month ago. i havent changed my ROM, installed/uninstalled anything on my phone. my computer, is a different story, i did install office 2007. i hadnt synced my phone for a month, so i decided it was about time. i connect via USB, and i get nothing. not even a little sound saying a device was connected. the phone charges but thats about it.
i have tried, muliple computers, multiple USB ports, multiple wires. I did a hard reset. And i finally tried the registry keys on this thread. still doesnt work. any ideas?
**i have also check/unchecked the "enable advanced network functionality" box
I have a computer which is in need of a new install of software. I'm leaning toward trying windows 7 Latest build. Can some of the cooks here shed some light on how the kitchens and ROM tools work on W7. Vista has been OK to hit and miss sometimes.
moderators I did not know any other place to ask this question where it can been seen by BlackStone cooks. After some replys you can delete it if need be.
No problems to run VK with WM 7 on my laptop, no blue screens sofar.
I too use VK on windows7RC and have no problems with compatability etc,
Same here no problems with windows 7 RTM and VK on my pc
Ok Thanks to all of you I'm going to give it a try.My XP Machine died and I have not been able to get CE cab manager to run on my Vista machine. I get access violation error when trying to open files. I have tried everything. So I'm going to load W7 on and try it out.
W7 also has the Windows XP mode (VM) build in.. You could try starting stuff that doesnt work from there, atleast if it is out of beta, the beta was kinda sluggish
Thanks, I have W7 installed and it seems to be working good. Now I hope I can run CE Cab Manager.
