internet connection sharing

has anyone tried internet connection sharing via HSPDA to a PC using activesync or bluetooth yet? any issues?
I use USB/ActiveSync and it works fine.
Just follow the manual. I followed it and got no problem.
One thing though, in the manual, it said "execute 3gnetopt.exe in the PC to optimize it for 3G connection".
It seems, after that it changed the routing automatically and can slow down your internet connection when not using the ICC via PDA.
Well, that's easy, just disable the "additional" network interface in the PC.
i could get the usb internet sharing to work but bluetooth internet sharing doesnt work. my pc is able to detect a local bluetooth pan network without internet access. anyone got their bluetooth/internet to work?
I have internet sharing working via bluetooth on a tablet and laptop (both running XP). First I tried DUN and it worked which suprised me. Then I set up a PAN connection and got Internet sharing running. After that DUN will no longer work, it looks like it trys but then fails. But Internet Sharing is faster and works fine over bluetooth.
It can be tedious at first, you need to create a BT PAN Connection on the PC, you need to create a BT partnership with the Kaiser in your Bluetooth manager on the PC. You need to set the Kaiser's Internet sharing to "Bluetooth PAN" and have the Network connection set to go to your ISP's GPRS internet AP.
Once I have PAN setup on the PC, it's showing "Network Cable Unplugged"
I then Start the Kaiser's Internet Sharing and press connect, it starts a GPRS connection.
I then open the Bluetooth Manager on the PC, select the Kaiser's Connection Icon, right click and select connect.
Then the two devices connect and I'm off and running.
With 3G I have been able to answer calls and talk on my Jawbone BT headset while still connected to the PC via BT as well, pretty much MAGIC
bluetooth still cant work with those instructions, i'll just stick to USB for now.
how do I ensure that HSPDA is working and its not just 3G?
My 3G icon changes to H when it connects hi-Speed. I'm wondering what Bluetooth Stack your PC has, I had issues with my tablet and Hermes until I got new BT Drivers from Fujitsu support. Your PC may need updated BT profiles? My laptop is Dell (uses a Toshiba BT Stack), the tablet is Fujitsu (also Toshiba BT Stack). Just a thought.
On the Plus side, using a USB cable will keep the phone charged, which is good because HSPDA is a power hog anyway.
i'm using a bluetooth dongle with my PC running vista
Both USB and BT ICS work great for me. I've used it on Edge, 3G, and HSDPA.

Internet sharing only working on 2G and not 3G
I am connected right now via internet sharing using my USB cable. However, this is working only if I have a 2G signal showing on my tytnII. When I am in a 3G location, the internet sharing program sits with the message "waiting for network"....this is just after the message "checking USB cable".
I have tried many things including a hard-reset, not having a full sync relationship between the PC, just connected etc. All to no avail.
I am using a new Dell laptop running Vista Ultimate.
Unlike previous PDAs I've had, I don't know a way to force the tytn II to stay on 2G, so when I am at work in a 3G environment, I cannot get internet sharing to work.

How to setup Wireless Modem?

I have just got my Vario III but am having problems setting it up to be used as a wireless (bluetooth) modem for my laptop computer. I am running Vista Ultimate and have not installed any driver software for the phone.
Can anyone please assist?
Wireless modem using Vista and TyTN II
First you should create a partnership between Vista and TYTN II. Then you run the Internet Sharing using Bluetooth and choose the "Connect To" menu at start menu and select connect to a Bluetooth PAN. You should see your mobile phone in the list. Just click connect. Boom !!! You're connected !
BT PAN
I can get Bluetooth Internet sharing to work on my AT&T device it is just a bit clumsier than by USB. With USB I just launch the Internet Sharing app on the Tilt and select PC Connection via USB. I then get an immediate 3G data connection on my laptop. Cool. As others have stated to tethering or extra data plans required.
To get this to work via Bluetooth I must do the above but select BT AND then connect the Network Access Point connection in my BT connections from the PC side. Isn't there some way to get this down to a single connection initiated solely from the Tilt side?
BTW: AT&T Tilt device and ROM, Toshiba BT stack, Windows XP SP2.

Kaiser/Tilt and the Mac

I connected Kaiser (AT&T carrier) to the Macbook Air using the usb port. There was no recognition or reaction to the phone. I wanted to use it to connect to the Internet. Then I established a Bluetooth connection to use it as a modem. The phone was recognized, but every time I ried to connect I was told that a connection is "crossed". Then I tried WMWiFiRouter. Mbair recognized it as a "device" but when I tried to connect to the Internet with it, it would not work.
Is there a way to use Kaiser as a modem for the Mac? What are the Mac settings recommended? Are there any specific Kaiser settings that need to be in place?
Thanks for any help and advice.
In replying to my own question:
I was able to connect perfectly through WiFiRouter by uninstalling the old version of WMWiFiRouter and reinstalling the new one directly from the website. It connected to internet right away.

Using Diamond with Car-PC via bluetooth?

Hi there,
I got a car-pc since a while and have been using my sony ericsson with it... calls get transferred via bluetooth to the computer, as like phonebook in integrated into the car-pc software... all transmitted via bluetooth...
Now with the diamond, how do i set it up as a phone? winXP doesnt recognize other services than the moden funxtion
you should enable Remote SIM access on you Diamond: Start -settings - connections bluetooth SIM acces and also activate the service for your BT connection (do this in the first tab of the BT settings dialogue after connectig)
already done :-( But the Computer doesn't list other functions than modem for the HTC
Do i need any drivers for XP? Usually not...
Using Diamond & CarPC Via Internet sharing over BT
I have a CarPC in my car, it has a 7" touch screen & it is running WinXP and have built in Bluetooth. So for surfing in the internet , MSN, Skype in my car over the carpc i am using my HTC Diamond with the Internet Sharing icon and connecting it via Bluetooth to the carPC so i get FAST Internet over Bluetooth between my carpc and my HTC Diamond.
It works very good - very stable.
Matter of fact it is "capturing" my 3G Internet and pass it over Bluetooth to the carpc.
Solution works very well.
k, but i am not interested in using it as internet connection, i want to phone via the computers hardware, so the car-pc should act as an headset... besides that, he shoult be able to access the adress book and to begin calls... that for, i neeed 2 comports emulated, but how to create them?
could it be because the device is seen as a PDA, and not as a mobile phone?
I know somewhere here on XDA there is a reg hack for earlier devices to make them appear as a mobile phone to car kits. maybe the same thing will help here. I don't know where it is, can only suggest searching, unless anyone else can point you in the right direction....
I used to have PhoneConnector on my CarPC, with PhocoAdapter on the phone. It worked, but now this software is not supported anymore and unfortunately it does not work with WM6.
Freefone is not compatible either.
My good Blackbaron, I believe we users of CarPCs and Windows Mobile are scr...d!
By the way, sharing the 3G connection workds a treat, by USB, BT, Wifi... I just wish Vodafone would allow other ports than port 80
I still didnt realize what 3G is... ^^ I never owned a ppc before...
Well, on the CarPC the internet speed is as great as a DSL line, here is France I measured it at more than 3.5 MB/s (KS20 is limited to 4 MB/s with HSDPA, who knows why). Coming from the crappy Edge Motorola phone I had before, the browsing is truly amazingly fast!

Click to collapse
1) Launch the Internet Sharing application on your phone (all WM6 phones have it)
2) Select your 3G connection, and BT or USB, tap "Connect"
3) USB: have ActiveSync installed on the PC, connect the USB cable, it's done.
4) BT: you have to set up a BT PAN hosted from your phone, add your PC to it, it's done.
5) If your provider uses a proxy, setup Firefox to use it (Tools/Options/Advanced/Network)
6) If your provider has a filter on User Agent, then you need the plug-in "User Agent Switcher", to put the same User Agent string as on your phone.
There you go!

X1 as 3G modem

Hi All,
Long story short,
I broke my 3G modem somehow; Huawei E169, it can't find the network but will install fine and try to find it.
I want to pull the SIM out of it and use my X1 as a modem. Last night I tried but couldn't make it connect to the network. X1 is custom unlocked, SIM is Optus in Australia. I have the SP code etc but do not know where to put this in the phone?
Any help would be great thanks!
it works fine on mine.
1. your PCs bluetooth must have the Bluetooth PAN stack.
2. pair PC with X1
3. on the X1, go to Start, then Internet Sharing, then turn on Internet Sharing
4. in Windows, go to your Bluetooth devices folder, right click on X1 and connect via Access Point
5. done
if connecting via USB cable, just do Step 3. and connect USB cable to PC.
apparently the X1 supports Dial-Up Networking (DUN) as an alternative but the setup is much more complicated.
All sorted now thankyou.
I needed to set the correct access point in my phone internet settings.
Will be trying the usb cable and BT very soon. Thanks!
