Maximum supported SD card size - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi fellow 2020i owners!
I'm looking for the maximum SD card size supported by the 2020i.
Could someone point me to the right location for finding the answer?
Thank you VERY much in advance for your help!
Kindest regards,
Piet

4GB, the ones above that use a different architecture, I've heard some success stories but its iffy . A simple forum search will show that.

remember to only format it as a fat or fat16. NOT FAT32 OR NTFS!!!

A-Data SDHC card not being seen in XP

Hi,
I have 4 Gig A-Data SDHC card which works great in my Tilt, but when I insert it in the adapter into my XP machine, the PC does not see the card.
What can I do to XP to get it to see the 4 gig card?
Thanks in advance.
Alan.
your answer is in here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=KaiserFAQ
Thanks for the link, but like quite a few replys to the posts, I have already applied the hotfix and XP is still not seeing the card.
That is why I was asking here. Sorry I should have been more specific in my initial question.
Thanks,
Alan.
Your SD Card reader is probly not HC compatable, my friend has the same issue with an ACER Laptop.
Thanks for your help.
I have a Dell PC and after an extensive search on the web I managed to find an update for their internal Card reader that came with the PC.
Now it works great.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
Alan.

Need help with linux swap

First of all yes i SEARCHED for a answer
ok i no how to partition my sd card i have the fat32 ext4 and linux swap partition on my sd card but after that what do i do? Do i just load the hero rom and it will run smoother or should I download swapper from the market and fool around with that some.
ps. When i check my internal memory i have about 27mb
Any help will be appreciated
No you didn't search for answer and this is in wrong forum.
Yes it automatically does it on hero and it will run smoothly (for hero).
edit: just saw you said you have 27 mb internal... clear data on browser maybe? the point of apps2sd is to have higher internal memory than that lol.
Ok
1st. Of all I did search and unless you have a ****1ng camera on my computer how would you no?
But thanks any way
With an attitude like that, i would write you off real quick...best of luck with that though.

Ouch, another tough guy. If you searched you didn't do a very good job. Next time try using the words "linux" and "swap". There are at least a dozen threads on the subject.

I always try not to post ... for specific reasons ... but this is funny. Everyone over at xda have been messing with swap for a long time already and it's like posted from where ever he got his ROM from. You didn't even have to search.
Your the one asking for help so don't give him an attitude man. We're here to help not to screw you over, but you gotta do your homework first.
also .... there google.com .... use it.
Just like others said, I really doubt you searched. This has been discussed many many times. Also like the other poster said you shouldn't even had to search, it should have been on the dev's main page.
Im a new poster but I been reading these forums for months and I searched for everything I needed in this forum and I found everything I needed to know.
That was your second post here and you are already talking smack. Dont expect too much help when you come here with an attitude like that.

128gb sd card

Hi,
I read on a blog that somebody was able to use a 128gb formatted to FAT32 with his Streak (I cannot post the URL). I've tried the same, but have got the message that the sd card is damaged. Any ideas where I am going wrong?
Thanks.
The Dell Streak 7 only supports up to 32GB cards. Period.
Hopefully I can post this link:

Did you not read what I read?

why not just have 4 32gb cards, they're hot swappable, I doubt you'd fill them all with apps (dont challenge it as you will only make yourself look like an arse for downloading that many apps and never using them) and probably use them only for videos, in which case just put the ripped movie or series on an SDC and enjoy that, honestly its hot swappable for a reason.

if you did manage to negate the kernel support for NAND sizes on the SDC less than 32gb only, I doubt you'd have much stability.. also you spelt sweet wrong
For the doubting Thomas's - especially Nocturnal_50. I guess I'll be accused of photoshopping this....
I think we owe the guy an apology. Read around the internet and it does work.

I think that Noobies are treated a bit too harshly at times and I'm glad to see one strike back! ConGrats on that one.
I blame misinformation from Dell. Windows only supports formatting partitions up to 32gb with FAT32 (however you need a 3rd party tool to partition beyond windows limits, but hey thats why Gparted was made), stupid Dell representatives giving us useless information, the representatives should know all the information about the products hardware support instead of just giving us a standard "we didnt get it to work with sizes larger than 32gb so it must be NAND handling restriction"
The biggest difference is that android currently doesnt support exFAT (though it would be nice as fat32 has many limitations)
According to wikipedia though, SDXC is electrically and protocall-ly backwards compatable. BUT you lose some of the benefits of the new capability bits (such as the higher speed interfaces)
Also apparently the S7's roms support it at the software level. This was the part that was tested.
The fat32 format limitation is completely artificial as older versions of windows will allow formatting up to like 127+ GB, they did it because (at least on standard HDDS) it's a really bad fs to use. It's terribly inefficient as you have to use 4k blocks.
It's usually easier to say "it's not supported" then it is to say "we havnt tested it, we dont know if it's compatable" for support and liability reasons.
Doesnt benefit us as the customer though, but it's a fact of life.
Thanks giveen. Have to admit - the amount and rate of apologies is deafening

Thanks wptski - being a noobie - completely agree. I joined the forum to a) get help then b) hopefully give help. To be sniped at in a completely different post about this issue makes me feel that I am not getting a) and unlikely to give b)
As I received no apologies from the sniping from what I considered were experienced members (Nocturnal_50 especially, ElfinJNoty & Archer), and no help apart from pointing me to posts I had already read and didn't answer my queries - I'm leaving. After less than 2 weeks, that's a damning inditement of the way that some people answer and reply to questions. If those people continue in this manner, the forum will simply die.
I thought the point of forums was to help others - not to assasinate them at the earliest point - and give condescending answers.
There was some work involved in getting the 128gb drive to work (if you remember originally I asked how to make it work). The SSD type, how I made it work, will remain my IP.
Remember, if you want others to help, you need to help others.

dont get butthurt over not following the forum rules, I am certain that you were provided with the n00b video link which highlights the majority of the important ones, sure people get pissed off by rules but not following them leads to the situation at hand, which looks a lot like someone who cant handle the search features

I believe I asked how you did this. If I have offended you then I apologize because that was not my intention. I look forward to you reconsidering and contributing to the forums. And if not, then thank you for making us aware of this new information and enjoy your streak.

Hi PinaNice.
First welcome to XDA. We are a FRIENDLY group, any where from Elite and recognized developers, Chefs, programmers and community members (Other than the few like the post above me) that are here to more than gladly HELP each other and SHARE their knowledge, ideas and developments.
To answer your question yes that SanDisk 32gb card should work just fine for you. Pretty much any newly manufactured SDHC Micro SD card of a good quality brand like SanDisk or PNY will work just fine in your device.

Expandable Memory [Solution] - Will it really work?

A lot of questions about Getting the N4 in 16GB or in 8GB are being asked and many are hating on Google for not providing an expandable memory slot.
I was just browsing and i read this somewhere : http://www.indiegogo.com/microsdtomicrousb
Would something like this work? If it does then it would be awesome.
So guys please when you get your Nexus 4 Device then please try this or a setup like http://www.amazon.com/USB-Female-Mini-Male-Adapter/sim/B0016RNX2I/2 into a Tiny flash drive or a pendrive if necessary
Hope that link helps us N4 lovers :cyclops:
