Hi all,
First of all, I would like to thank the authors (and all people concerned) for this great forum. You're doing a great job !
Then my problem:
Some days ago, I tried to upgrade my QTek because I wanted it in dutch. To do this, I followed the method explained by Risidoro in his thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271043)
I downloaded the dutch 2.18 ROM from the official MyQTek website.
I've done everything like it was described in the pdf and everything seemed to go well.
The problems came after first restart:
- my QTek was very very slow, e.g. 5 to 10 seconds to expand start menu.
- when I pluggged the USB cable, battery didn't charge and QTek wasn't detected by my computer, so no ActiveSync possible anymore.
Acutally, I've lost the AC charger and now, my battery is completely off.
I really don't know what to do.
If someone has a suggestion for me, he's welcome !
Thanks in advance !

you will either have to buy another battery, use the 9-volt trick detailed in one of the threads in this forum, or have a friend charge it in their phone for you.
After your battery is good again, I would suggest flashing your carriers approved rom to your phone and then following the instructions in the Definative guide to CID Unlocking and Rom Upgrading G3 wizards sticky.(assuming you have a G3) When your device is CID unlocked you will have much better results with trying to flash your device.
My best guess (since you didn't give any information such as IPL, SPL, GSM, or OS versions) is that you mixed a 2.xx OS with 1.xx bootloaders, which puts your phone in a pretty much unusable state, boots but is sluggish and phone does not work, will not charge.
Thank you for your answer !
You probably noticed that I'm a totally newbie in this, that's why I do mistakes.
I was looking the forum for this 9-Volt trick thread, I only find a sentence about 2 wires to connect. Maybe you can give me the direct link ? (or maybe I ask you too much )
And when I'll have my battery full, I'll give you the IPL, SPL. As I remember, it was something like 1.09 or 1.26 ! Sorry, I don't know much more !
Another thing: how to know if my wizard is a G3 or G4 one ?
Thanks again !
FJ
Ok, I found some definitions like CID, IPL, SPL...
Now, I have to charge this .... battery !
FJ
Trick
I found this in french:
http://qtek9100.forumpro.fr/LES-DIF...-f11/TUTO-forcer-la-charge-Batterie-t4154.htm
Here are the steps explained :
1. Find an AC adaptor close to your battery values: for Wizard 3.7v and 1250mA (the author of the post used a laptop adaptor 5.2v and 700mA)
2. Carefully check the positive and negative pole of your adaptor connector (must be available on the adaptor)
3. Connect the adaptor directly to the battery using the first and the last connection
4. Wait 1 hour
5. Put the battery back in the Wizard and use USB cable to finish charge
Still have to test it... I'll keep you informed !
Enjoy !

Hi, i posted in the Mr.Clean g4 rom thread about what happened to me, but i really want to try my best in seeing if there is a possible fix for this phone. I'm sorry if i'm being annoying, but i am going to try everything in my power to get this phone to work, cause i wasn't able to replace it, and it was so expensive! AND I LOVE IT DEATHHHHHHH
Allright, i have a T-Mobile USA MDA, now i'm not sure if it has a g3 or g4 chip, that is my mistake. I went ahead and installed the g4 version of mr clean. It Installed, loaded up and i calibrated my screen and everything was going great. Then it started installing the customizations, and it turned off, forever. It won't turn on, no bootloader, no nothing. I had a 60% charge on the battery when this started, and this shouldn't be the problem as it loaded up fine, and it was charging while the customizations where loading.
So now i'm left with a plastic brick. Thank you for any kind of help whatsoever.
again, sorry to be asking for this, but i'm so desperate at this point.
I am a newby but am a reader of about 7 months.
I too have exactly the same issue on three devices. I tried one and it went brickward bound. Thought it was a dodgy device so tried another..........exactly the same again. Then my very patient and understanding boss walked in and said that he tried his last night and......well.....now I have three bricks on my desk. :? The only diference to the post before me is that mine are T-Mobile UK Wizards.
Any thoughts would be most welcome.
Mine went exactly the same way R.I.P
What exactly happens in the customization? I thought it was just installing the odd program etc?
Not dead yet
    You probably had the G4 chipset you can always take the phone for replacement. Just tell them it wasn't working when you got it home. Tell them it won't power on
Same issue with me here, Mine just stopped working too... Now I brought it back to the Tmobile store, and I have 2 wait for 2 weeks..
Except. I did not have an non Tmobile Rom on it..

exactly the same here, mda vario is dead too. looking for solutions.
JTAG flashing?
I wonder if anyone has information on how to JTAG flash a Wizard G4, or would be this just be at HTC's factories/repair depots?
(JTAG flashing is attaching clips to certain chip pinouts and flashing it using a dedicated device that is for this purpose.)
i have been updating and trying different roms over the last couple of days, i decided last night to revert back to o2 xda mini s original rom downloaded from o2, uploaded the wizard-love rom then started the updsate as instructed, followed the instructions and it installed, however when i soft reset during the 3 second customisation period, the device shows no sign of life, and wont turn on............................................i would like to know if i have bricked my phone, or there could be other reasons, before i go to the expense of getting repaired.
the only info on the device i can remember was i had the wizard-love rom installed before the upgrade and it is a G4 device and i am gethering it is(was)CID locked.
Many thanks in advance for any assistance someone/anyone can give
I think the o2 rom you were trying to load contains IPL/SPL. On a G4 this could mean a bricked phone. Still, I think I've heard people using their carriers rom on their G4 without problems? Could someone confirm this? I always take out the IPL and SPL and recook the rom just to make sure.
You don't even get to the IPL/SPL screen? You could try putting it onto the wallcharger for serveral hours and try again. Good luck!
i hear you and thanks for reply, only tried that rom as it is the only o2 rom and actually says it is the factory one for my phone, so must admit , presumed it was compatible....................while i am writing does anyone know of a way of reviving this problem, even if it means a price,
regards
just to update, no ipl/spl screen or life at all , tried the wallgharge but nothing as yet, regards
cid locked
are you getting any response from the phone at all? if not leave the battery out for at least two hours then put battery back in and just charge from the wall without turning on the device for at least an hour. if it still doesnt turn on whatsoever its bricked!
if thats the case then do as i did last year when i accidently bricked mine and claim that you lost your phone to your insurance
good luck
mark
no responce at all, will try your suggestion , however as i bought it off ebay no insurance and no contents ins also, never mind .............easy come easy go
regards
another update, contacted ok xda repair center and as it is " bricked " will cost me in the region of £185, so not sent..............however thanks for the help everyone , much appreciated
good to hear that your enjoying your phone again..
just be very very carefull nextime..
-004
thanks for the reply, not using phone as still bricked , so bit the bullet and have just pusrchased an xda orbit, however will not be updateing roms for a while , at least until i get some use out of the phone
regards
My friend have brought me MDA Compact II GER (IPL/SPL 2.06), i've tried to update it to WWE many times, but deutsch was still there. T-Mobile UK ship wrote me "Invalid Vender ID", lockwiz-lockwiz03a didn't help. Today, after flashing, it powered on, when i saw "tappen sie bitte..." i've became mad and made hard reset instead soft. Charmer powered off...that's all, no resets, no bootloader, no charging. What have i done! This is not hardware. Now waiting for fully charged battery. Any suggestions?
P.S Why after flashing Vlodec/Nocturne 004.4 great work with 1st method it was still Germanese
Charged battery brought me zero result, so this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303257 is not my chance... By the way it attempts to power on from external power supply, but LCD is dark & there's still no bootloader.
Community, would you advise something for me, please.
well, if you did like it says in the other thread, power cable directly to the pins of the batery, probably your charmer is dead for real.
it happens almost the same thing to me. right now is in the tecnical assistence HTC, because in here Portugal i don't have t-mobile, they call me saying they can't do nothing here..afff
so i believe my charmer is realy dead...
by the way i upgrade from t-mobile end went dead...afff

The rom did not flash at all. It is in english. Please Use 2ND method.
Well, thanx for advice, i'll try it, after Charmers resurection (if it possible), now i'm a customer at service (non official), but there's one problem: if boot-rise impossible, there's no flashers for BGA's in my city...
Hello people,
I'm new to posting on this forum so please go ease on me I've been reading the forums for quite some time now, since i have my wizard (back in June i think). That is when i unlocked and flashed my Wizard with a WM6.1 rom. And this was succesfully, i'm very happy with it and never had any problems, hooray!
So far so good, but this all changed untill recently. Some weeks ago, my Wizard started acting funny, it kept rebooting at random moments. It's not in a loop or something, it just reboots on random moments. In calls, in games, in the menu, just random.
Now i know this is not a software problem, since i never changed any software after flashing and i also have these random reboots when in bootloader....
Can anybody help me with this?
I should also note that i suspect my battery, since it looks old, slightly bulged out but most importantly, my battery life is normal when not calling, but after a call the battery can be drained from 100% to 30% with just one short phone cal..
/edit: Just had another reboot, this time i looked at the battery meter....It was full when i turned on the phone, and now it says my battery is empty...Now i really suspect the battery Just want to rule out anything else
I had similar issues - and the battery was the culprit. Get a new battery, your troubles should go away
Did you also happen to have other problems, regarding calling itself? My friends complain a lot about my not picking up my phone or reading text messages, and when i check my Wizard the calls are not there.....and a lot of people calling me get my voicemail directly when calling me, that shouldn't happen :/ All this when i have full reception :S Could this also have something to do with the battery? My guess is not but i sure hope so, that would solve two problems at once

Those are more than likely software related issues. Can be the rom itself, or the radio version you are using.
Which WM 6.1 did you flash, can you provide some details as to IPL/SPL - radio version, etc ??
For instance, my IPL / SPL is 2.26
My radio version is 2.26 also
Had a very similar experience to yours myself. A new battery fixed the problem. I dunno about that bulging battery of yours... sounds a bit ominous.

Erm let's see, i also flashed the IPL/SPL and radio software after the romflash, IPL/SPL is now 3.08 and GSM (radio?) is now 02.25.11. I think it used ti be 2.26 before flashing. As for the rom, i can't remember. I did some searching on the forum and i think it's [02 Jul] Wm.6.1 Os.19588 - Dutch - Beta! wich can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393841&highlight=dutch

I took some time and went through the threads for the Dutch Beta, but am limited by my language. I flash english versions only - so not much help I am afraid.
I would recommend you post your dropped and missed call issue directly into the rom you identified above - others may be having - or had similar issues and a quick easy fix is available.
But in the end - you need a battery for sure
Good luck
Okay, just ordered a brand new battery today wich should arrive tomorrow by mail When my Wizard proves to be stable i will flash a new ROM and see if that fixes that problem as well Many thanks for your help
P.S: I'm looking for a battery cover and a stylus, since my battery cover is missing one hook (so it won't close perfectly) and i never had a stylus since i bought my Wizard from a friend, who lost it
Hey Johrizz,
You should be able to find a stylus and battery door on google shopping and / or ebay. I just ordered a pack of stylus's for a couple bucks and a dollar for shipping. I've seen battery door's for sale for about 8-10 dollars... Just make sure to notice the shipping charges LOL.
I don't know if it's really required but here's what I tend to do with a new battery and have had good success.
1) for the first charge (and anytime I'm going to flash a new ROM) charge it fully (till the light is green and not orange) with the AC charger and not the USB / computer cable.
2) flash a stock operator rom and test it for a day or so to make sure the Wizard doesn't have some other hardware problem, weird battery drainage, etc.
3) Once you're sure that your Wizard is stable and FULLY CHARGED Flash your favorite ROM
Good luck with it!
Hi,
I am soon to be the happy owner of a MDA Compact V. I have been very impressed with my MDA Compact III that I decided to go for the new version. I will be looking into tuning my phone to achieve the following main goals:
- Increased battery life
- Simplify the phone for push email, phone , text, sat nav use only. I will be aiming on streamlining the phone so that I will have optimal battery life.
If anyone wants to recommend a ROM for this, I would be very grateful, otherwise I will start with the HTC original rom (I don't like the pink T-mobile colours).
I presume that I will have to hard-spl unlock my phone before I can load the original HTC Rom? Is there anything else I have to do?
Cheers,
D
Hard SPL is the first step, then you just need tro find a ROM that suites your needs. Most are fully optimized for performance. There are many chefs to choose from, Dutty, Energy, etc.....
Bruce,
Thanks for your help.
I have gone through the beginners guides by drag-on which have cleared things up for me.
I will have to do some forum searching and find a rom that is aimed at battery life (I am willing to sacrifice performance - as it will already be soo much faster than my Compact III...).
The other question I had was, once I SIM unlock my phone, will it be the same as the Hard SPL install that it is permanent, and is not affected by installing ROM's?
Cheers guys,
D
Thanks for taking the time to read.
Yes, SIM unlocking and HSPL need only be done once and are not affected by flashing ROMs.
You have to flash SSPL back to your device for warrranty exchanges.
Excellent.
Sounds like I'll be making a painless start.
Doing homework helps!
I am impressed with this site / forum, there is some serious passion here, which I am happy to see.
Now I just have to decide whether my gamble was right and that I reckon the MDA version really does look good in black... Pitty about the T-mobile logo on the case and the plug over the mini usb port. I am also waiting for the day HTC puts a normal headphone jack on the pone.
I am also considering giving my good old MDA Compact III a fresh battery and a new ROM. It has done so well with the standard ROM (I got used to it crashing But I want to optimise it for the G/F to have a small sat nav to leave in her purse so she can get home when out and about in the car and got herself lost again... My only niggle with it was that the sat nav localisation was pretty slow at times.
Happy Cooking !
D
The USB port cover is easily removable and I suggest doing it because it interferes with plugging in a wider USB plug found on some adaptors. Can't be good on the USB pins. I always try to pamper the port because if it goes, your screwed.
Many skins and covers available for these so color customizing is easy. But black is sleek.
Check out the new Bing for a quick little nav program. It now has voice turn by turn directions.
GPS locks are quite fast if you have AGPS enabled and have the latest Quick GPS data.
Happy flashing!
