I've just bought a HTC Charmer (T-mobile MDA Compact2). As I was looking for a french rom, I've read that the charmer was nearly the same (or exactly ?) pda as the Wizard. So As I've found a french rom for wizard, I tried to flash the charmer with it, thinking that if it was not good, it would reject the rom... Or, the flashing process has gone well till the 100% but now, the phone does not even want to light on.... :shock:
Do you think there's something possible to do ?? :?:

What symptoms do you have exactly? No led, no backlight, no text on the screen, no charging? What happens if you try to enter the bootloader?

In fact, after the flashing process, the phone switch off, and now, I cannot switch it on, if I put the usb cable, the pc does not detect anything, but the led ...
I let the beginnning but finally it starts !!!!
Yesterday, I disconnected the battery so as the secure one discharge also, and a few minutes ago, I put it on the 220V without hope and the led lighted ! and no it starts, but in German .. (I do not really understand this..)
So do you think that I should retry the french wizard rom ? Or this try cannot work ?
If this is the case, does someone know where I could find the English Charmer Rom (I do not find the T-mobile download page anymore) or better a french one

Well, i think that for you it's better to flash your device with a charmer ROM. On the ftp there is only a english ROM, not french.
No in fact it works again, but it's still in german ...
Could you please give me the link of the french rom ? I cannot find it...
Just a few more info...
So the phone works, in german, but there's someting really strange.. if I try to put it in bootlaoder mode, it's impossible, it switch off but do not swith on after, and not at all in fact, I have to get off the battery or put it on the charger so that it starts again...
And with the charger, after the boot, I can restart in bootloader mode, but at the second I unplug the charger, the phone switch off and it's not possible to restart witout the charger.....
Do you have an idea of what's happening ?? And how I could flash with an english rom ?? (doesn't work with the cradle USB cable..)

I think that the best thing to do is to flash the ROM with the WWE or German, as you like, you will find the ROMs on the Charmer section of the FTP.
Put your device in bootloader mode with the usb connected, then upgrade the ROM.
Indeed that would be the best solution but with the usb cable, it doesn't stay in bootloader mode, it switch off immediately ...

How do I restore my PDA to a working state after running HimaClearJumpCode.exe on the device.
All I get on the PDA screen now is "USB/Serial" and "V1.01"
I was trying to uppgrade to WM5 before I found out ther is no WM5 for the

Does hitting the soft reset work? Or did you actually begin the upgrade process? Seems that you're stuck in bootloader mode.

Iám Spanish and I just bought a MDA VARIO in GErmany, so I tried to install the spanish rom "2.18.7.8" and i did it. Everything was ok during installation, but when I restarted... The device couldn´t restart. It allway stop on the Qtek screen(with the sky), sometime it change the screen into a white(HTC innovations) one for a second. But it doesn´t work.
I made soft and hard reset, but nothing changes.
I also tried to install an other rom by bootloader way, but the rom sais that is not possible to contact with the phone device.
I´m scared and I don´t know what to do.
Know this is the rom´s I have on my Qtek 9100 :

With activesync on it will say it won't detect the phone plugged in while it's in bootloader mode. Run the ROM update anyway.
Thanks, but it doesn´t work. The Rom software said that is unable to connect with the phone.
I just tried to install the vanilla WM6, and with zhis rom, the installation could begin, but at 95% it happen an error... and i need to reinstal an other time the vanilla WM6.
I tried an other time, but the same error on 95% :-( And i can´t instal others rom.
did you CID unlock?
enter bootloader and flash the original rom from that screen, then start again. if you don't know how to get into bootloader screen or what CID lock is, read the wiki and the stickies in the forum. Don't worry, it is not a brick

Thanks a lot for our support! I still tnhinking I have a brick :-S... Now It only apears the bootloather screen(three colors bars) due to the incompleted vanilla WM6 uppdate.
I think the CID is unlocked. I runed the Lokiwiz, but now, I am not sure if It worked... And now, the phone is without battery!!
Where I can find my original rom? The device is from T-Mobile and is a MDA VARIO. From Austria. I have 2 CD´s, one with windows 5 applications, and other with software... I can´t fin the rom.

there is a link to the US tmobile ROM in my signature. it may work, i don't know.
as for the dead battery, you have a few options,
1) charge the battery in a desktop charger such as this one from ebay.
2) try charging in a friend's wizard
3) i have read references to charging the battery with a n-i-n-e v-o-l-t battery and a p-a-p-e-r-c-l-i-p (i've typed it like that because there are getting more and More references to things than actual solutions when you search) battery many times, try googling this site for that (again in my sig).
the ROM is not on any CD they give out with it because they don't want people flashing their devices and ending up in the situation you are - why do you think they are locked.

did you buy it from tmobile or ebay? (is it german tmobile or just bought in germany?)
go to the tmobile site and look for firmware/software updates for the mda vario. i don't know german so i could not find the mda vario on it

I got a similar problem.
I wanted to install the latest AkU 3.3 on my MDA VARIO but it stopped at 95%.
So I tried to install the oldest version available from T-Mobile Germany.
But now my device restarts again and again.
It says
IPL 1.06
SPL 1.03
OS 2.24.2.8.
and restarts.
Sometimes (with the oldest software version) I can calibrate my touchscreen and then the device installs the T-Mobile software. After that it restarts again and again.
I also tried softrest after the message: in 3 seconds .... software will be installed. Then it reboots and sometimes wm5 starts but is running VERY slow. I can't switch it off using the power buttom.
I unlocked my MDA Vario using Lokiwiz. No CID Unlock just Unlock.
What can I do?

very simple, flash back to your original rom, then, CID UNLOCK
Was updating my dads SPV M700 to WM6 and have hit a problem ....
The rom image updated ok, and I used AX3L's 2.0.8.
Unfortunately during the GSM update the software crashed, and froze at 51%. I had to re-boot and now I can't use the phone.
When I re-set the phone it says No GSM at the HTC screen and then stops loading at the WM6 front page.
I can get into the Bootloader by pressing the Power/Camera/Reset buttons, but when I try to re-flash GSM is says error 270, corrupt image. I have tried several files with no luck.
I would appreciate a hand ..... My dad is going to kill me

to enter usb mode
then reflash the radio again.

You can try 2 other things!
Download the Radio ROM again- you may have had a downlaod glitch in the 1st one. V1.38 is the best one to try.
Download and install the offical HTC WM5 ROM- this should be a full ROM including Radio, so sometimes completes more effectively. If you are brave, you can them retry the WM6 flash!
since bricking a hermes i stopped taking chances doing rom upgrades via usb..
the method that is most reliable ad safe is... via SD card
extract RUU_signed file from the upgrade pack (use winrar) and then copy it to the root of a blank sd (mini or micro etc) and rename to TRINIMG.nbh ..enter bootloader and follow the steps.. its fast and most reliable

Heres what I have done ...
Hard reset - no change
Tried to re-flash with WM6 and WM5 cooked roms, but an error comes up saying the images are corrupt. This happens with any image I try.
I have also tried a legit HTC WM5 rom upgrade image, but it doesn't work either. It gives an error at 1% saying invalid device ID.
What I can do it get into the standard bootloader screen, which shows I have a USB connection when plugged in. If I allow the phone to boot up it stops at the WM6.0 picture. It won't go far enough to allow me to get an activesync connection.
ANy more adivice would be greatly appreciated !

Next thing then, is to try and obtain a downloaded Orange M700 ROM- there are a few links hereabouts.
For some reason, your device seems to want only its home ROM. If that fails there are other methods before sending back to Orange!

You are running out of options
Your choices now are to go further down the 'fiddling' route, or give up and return the phone to Orange for repair. At least if its is stuck in bootloader, they may not spot that you have been meddling
If you want to play more, there are very few Trinity specific fixes, but possibly some of the questions/answers in the Hermes WiKi may help, though the Bootloader versions etc won't be relevant.
[Edit: When you are in Bootloader mode, what version numbers are showing on the screen?]

I must say things are looking bad - I think it would take an original orange SPV rom if I could get one. Been to the orange website, but no luck !! Anyone know if orange released one ??

No Orange haven't released an official rom.
Well Orange UK haven't Orange FR have, so unless he speaks and reads french that's not an option.
Well, French or not, you've probably got nothing to lose by trying to load the official French ROM
Go Here and click the Mise-a-jour link (which is French for ROM) and it will open a zip file download without the need to verify the IMEI number.
If that doesn't work, nothing will! If it does load, you will at least have a working phone, even if it is in French, and you can go back over the ROM update again, remembering to apply the SPL Bootloader first!

i mean, when screen tri-color appear, use mini SD card to flash ROM, the language it apprear itself is english or french.
p/s : i was telephone to the HTC center, and they say as usual, send it to the center repair.
For french user address is : be sure u have enough garanty which required.
send them and make them crazy.....

I tried flashing WM6 on my QTEK 2020, but I had the wrong version. I begun the upgrade having it on bootloader and after a while an error about updating radio occured. Now, my PPC powers up, but it gets stuck on the beginning with the "QTEK" logo with the clouds and the blue led that indicates the bluetooth is activated. Neither soft nor hard reset does anything and I can't flash the original rom through bootloader (I can boot the PPC in bootloader).
Does anyone have any idea please?
If you posted this in the Qtek2020 (Himalaya) forum, you might get a quicker response.

Maybe you should try reflashing. Just flashing a new ROM and then just a radio might do the trick.
How did you flash? With the No_ID?
And what were you trying to flash? A BA ROM while you have a HIMA?

I really can't remember what the previous rom was, but it was for another brand! It was stupid to flash that one! The one I have now is this:

But I have a problem. The PPC restarts randomly even if I do nothing with it. I haven't overclocked it.
It is not got sign, if your PPC restarts randomly. Better you flash it again.

but my PPC keep restarting and one more thing, WM6 kills my battery! I've got to charge it every day, before I charged it every 3-4 days. Does anyone have any idea what I should do? Can I put WM2003 now?
Hmmm... I'm using the 7c ROM from that page with no problems at all.
Did have some issues with some older apps and the config for TomTom when I switched to WM6, but not anymore.
What do you have installed, and what versions?
I have installed nothing but WM6!
