THis mey be weird but I tried Faria's WM6 roms and liked them but had a few things I had become used to in WM5.
Is it possible to merge the two ?
Pull Office from WM5 and put it in WM6 ?
plus get rid of stuff.
From what I can tell poutlook is for syncing with desktop outlook ?
Is it seperate from calender, tasks and notes ?
If I use stand alone email do I need poutlook ?
For the outlook question - poutlook is the whole Messaging thing so you need it for any type of SMS or e-mail - I'd advicea gainst taking it out as there are also a host of dependencies you'd need to figure out.
THanks
I figured as much

All,
I have recently installed TuMa1.3 ROM and have noticed that when using ActiveSync 4.1 I cant sync my contacts by categories like I could when using 2003SE, does anyone know why this is?
Thanks

contacts and categories in wm5
I wish I knew the logic to this omission. I use a common database on outlook 2002 for all of my contacts for the family including my business ones. My wife and two daughters also have windows phones. When they sync they only get the contacts relevent to them. This was a really good feature. Under wm5 this has been lost and i need to know if there is a real workaround. Also applies to calender items aswell. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance
Krunch
Does anyone know if this is available on any of the wm5 roms? I use it everyday and would like to goto wm5, but can't be without instant email. any sugestions would be very helpful.. thanks!
also, unrelated, but anyone using Vista with wm2003? I am and get contacts or calender to sync, Vista doesnt have activesyne, just window mobile and I think it doesnt support wm2003 deices. thanks!!
I am not sure but i think Blackberry is not working yet for Blueangel WM5.
As for vista it is not finished, it will not sync anything else except media (music, videos and pictures). In the RTM version syncing contacts tasks and caledar will be possible
if no bb, how does everyone send and recieve email? do they connect gprs every 5 mins?? seems like a pain in the butt. any suggestions are greatly welcome.
The BB clients that are available for WM5 do not work on any of the BA WM5 versions, only on the official Wizard and Universal roms that are pre-AKU2
Hi,
I was curious is it possible to pluck the needed Poutlook files from WM6 & pop them onto a Wizard running WM5? That would give the WM5 Wizard the ability to view HTML emails (or is there more to it than that?)
Is WM6 Poutlook workable only on WM6?
If so, does anyone have any ideas on which files would be needed?
Thanks,
Rich
I am using goodlink on my TILT and when i go to send an sms it doesnt pull my goodlink contacts only my sim contacts.. any clue how to access goodlink contacts for sms?
The Windows Mobile OS will only pull up the native contact list. If you are using ver 5 of GoodLink you can get the GoodLink server IT admin guys to be sure that the one way (that is from GoodLink to your native contacts) is enabled on your phone.
According to GoodLink literature the reason for this functionality is just for this reason and for things like Voice Command (or other voice dialers) that also use the native contact list. In this case the OS uses the native contact list for SMS msgs

Quick question .. how did you get goodlink on your tilt...my restore from backup method did not seem to work. Did you do an OTA install?
EDIT: See my solution posted below
What version of Goodlink are you running?
Do you know if your admin guys have upgraded to ver 5?

Just figured it out ... problem was I had goodlink on my 8525 too (which as of about 20 mins ago, when the fedex guy got here, is being retired), and I could only have it on one device at a time. Once I figured that out, just got a new PIN for the Tilt and it seems to be running the OTA provisioning without a problem.

Mine pushed out 4.9.3.21 and it's working just fine...
I got our admin guys to upgrade to 5.0 then upgraded (it automatically loaded it). It looks a little different to 4.93. its not that much of a big deal except you get a nice RSS and the ability to make a calendar appointment private (finally). BUT admin gets to see all the apps you have on your Kaiser and they can lock anything out! you can also get your admin ppl to allow good contacts to be used for native lookup (phone, sms etc.) but it didnt seem to function as well as activesyncing contacts (it doesnt show company name - in fact it doesnt sync company name and you end up with lots of UNNAMED contacts).
I also had a couple of issues on the install becuase Activesync forces you to add a password and Good doesnt like this when it installs. tyherefore in the end i did it via ahard reset.
All in all, its a luittle better. im testing it for stability before they roll it out to thers where I work.
Please report back on the experience - It would be great to know how things work before I try an push for the upgrade as well.
How well does that RSS work, and is it only set up on the phone, or does it sync with your Outlook acct? (ie - is it a box in your exchange account like the native rss support in Outlook 2007)
Good vs. BBC
I have used goodlink for years starting on my treo 650 then my trusty (kind of) 8525. The whole separate contacts thing really annoyed me so when I got my tilt I switched to, dare I say, blackberry connect. As opposed to using separate software to manage the calendar and contacts, it uses the built in wm apps so the contacts issue goes away. Just something to think about if you have the option to use either one...
Anyone able to dail from their calendar from WM6? I am on a Tilt running WM6 with Mobile Office 6.1 but it is not working for me ....
should be:
tel:xxxxxxxxxx
in the notes of any calendar item but not for me....
here is the Microsoft URL .....
http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2430713&SiteID=65&mode=1
figured it out.. think I have found a bug ... i was initially using my PC updating my calendar item in the notes and then letting MS AS sync the change to the phone ... never got that to work ... but if i just add the number to the notes on my PC then Sync to the phone ...then go into the phone and add tel: to the front of the number as well as a space after the number - it works!
Is there a way to do this without having to edit the appointment on the phone?
is there a registry tweak or CAB file that will automatically recognize phone numbers and emails in the calendar?
Also, I noticed it is not possible to this in the subject line, only the notes.
I don't understand why this is automatically done in WM 6 standard on my Moto Q and not in WM 6 pro on my Kaiser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
