can Mtty be used to flash Trinity - P3600 Software Upgrading

Can the Trinity be reprogrammed using the MTTY program,
the reason for asking is that mtty is working with my phone but i do not seem able to program using the normal flash method using the boot loader
Thanks all

Flashing WM6 - have I got this right?

Just got my Trinity today, and have successfully unlocked it using pof's unlocker. I unlocked the SIM lock and the CID lock, so it's now SuperCID.
I want to put WM6 on it, the LVSW version. I've downloaded the three files in the sticky post. Before I do it, I want to check that I'm understanding it right, because I'm a bit confused with version numbers.
So...
1) First, I need to HardSPL by running the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" file from the Hard-SPL.zip file, yeah? I ran this (but didn't flash it) and was confused because the new "Image Version" was 1.20 whereas the Image Version shown in the "current image" bit was 1.24.xxx. Usually, going backwards is bad but I may be misunderstanding.
2) I then need to flash the Radio ROM to 1.41 - why do I need to do this? I guess I run the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" from the GSM_xxx_xx file, right?
3) Finally, I need to flash WM6 - by running the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" file from the WM6 zip.
Is that right?
Just tried to flash both the HardSPL and the Radio ROM, and the ROM Update Utility always craps out after I select "Yes" to the security prompt on the Trinity.
"ERROR 246 DEVICE NOT RESPONDING" is displayed in the update utility. Any ideas?
Also, if I go to the bootloader manually (holding down the buttons) the version numbers are:
TRIN100
IPL-0.50
TRIN100
SPL-1.07.0000
But when I let the ROM Update program enter the bootloader, these are shown instead:
TRIN100
IPL-SSPL by Des
TRIN100
SPL-1.07.ds
What does it all mean? Very confusing! It won't let it update anyway, when I select "Yes" to the security prompt, the screen goes black, the ROM updater throws up the error 246 and then the Trinity shows the bootloader.

SPL by Des is a one time only SPL called SSPL-TRIN.exe, it's somewhere on this board. Sometimes it's baked into a ROM too ... it fakes the SPL.
HARD SPL stays on your phone .... doesn't need SPL by Des anymore.
Windows needs some time to switch from Windows CE to the bootlader driver. This can cause an error ...... just start the exe file again on the PC.
Another common flash error is with Vista, then you need to overwrite the default driver when you're in the bootloader. The driver is in "VistaRUU.zip"
Relaunch the Hard-SPL, then the radio ROM and after that LVSW or mUn's ROM.
There is a file you extract called EnterBootLoader.exe
I copy this to the Memory card.
Then before I run the update I run this on the memory card.
The phone goes to the boot loader and then once windows has re-detected it I run the update.
This seems to have eliminated all problems I've ever had flash updating.

I just tried this, but Windows doesn't seem to want to detect the presence of the device when I do. ActiveSync reports that nothing's connected.
Well I've got the Hard-SPL and Radio ROM to flash - instead of leaving ActiveSync connected I just went into the bootloader manually and did it that way.
But now I'm trying to flash WM6 and it gets up to 8% and then craps out with Error 286 - communication errors.
The device now won't boot past the bootloader
What do I do now?
Bloody hell. It's amazing, it really is.
I had it plugged into my USB hub.
Took it out and plugged it directly into the PC, just on the off-chance that the hub was screwed up.
It's all working fine now, I think!
Typical. Thanks for the assistance anyway guys.
Nps. Glad you got it sorted
Is the USB Hub powered? If not that will cause a ton of problems!
It's supposed to be powered, but I'm starting to think that the power supply might be faulty!
hi guys,
2 questions if i can;
1)What is HardSPL?
2) Why are there 3 steps to getting WM6? why can I not use the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" file from the WM6 zip straight away?
Thanks a lot!!
Same Problem as GazChap
Hey All,
I was having the exact same problem as GazChap with the same configuration to start out with.
This is what I did:
1)plug in my p3600 to the USB
2)let synchronize, and hopefully finish, otherwise stop it
3)run HARD-SPL; this usually freezes after the first go and stalls in the bootloader
4)run HARD-SPL again; this time it will finish. You will have to turn on your machine again after this.
5)run AX3L ROM 2.0.8.2; this ALSO usually freezes after the first go and stalls in the bootloader
6)run the ROM again; This time its gonna work...
Now it works..
brick time
I loaded the hard spl succesfully. I could not get the radio upgrade to load no matter what I did. My instructions said it was optional, so I went directly to the WM6 rom exe load and it has a perpetual communications error after about 8% even though the WM6 loader says each time that recovery is successful. I have a tricolor screen (bootloader?) on my 3600 which won't respond to anything I have thought of yet. Anything I can do other than pitch it? Help! And thanks in advance.
ok, just want to make it short: (P3600 user)
1. I have WM6.1 ROM (FleNover 3.3 Black edition) installed.
2. When I want to downgrade to WM6 official, after 20% it goes error.
3. Now, it only shows 3 colors.
4. Here is my PDA information in 3 colors:
TRIN100
IPL-1.00
TRIN100 MFG
SPL-1.30.Olipro
5. When I want to upgrade with WM6 official, after my PDA shows the progress bar, it restarted and the update screen shows Error 286.
6. How do I fix it?
thank you very much

OMG, Help! - Cannot Boot

So I am trying to Re-Flash my T-Mobile Wing.
I HAD TouchIT Vista on my Phone and wanted to put on a new version.
While trying to re-flash, like i did before, I would connect to my phone, then it would drop while starting the flash. So I decided to flash on the Stock ROM. Now, being a complete idiot, I started the Flash (BAT file) before putting Itsutils.dll into the Windows folder... Now I cannot boot into my phone. But I CAN boot into BootLoader.
I dont know how to use BootLoader tho. What do I do to get this back up and running? Dear god, I hope I didn't brick my Phone!
Try the Following:
Got to this link, post #2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421304
-download the Herald-USPL-Beta 3 file found on post#2
-extract the flash center folder to your desktop
-extract the nbh file from your stock rom using winrar or 7zip
-place the nbh file in the ruu folder within the flash center folder
-run the utility
*if my instructions arent clear to you, there is a full tutorial on the link that i gave you
hope this helps!!

-press and hold your camera button on the side of your phone
-while holding the camera button, press and release the soft reset button
-dont let go of the camera button until you enter a tri-colored screen.
-now you are on your bootloader screen
Yes, I know how to get into Bootloader, but How do I execute this stuff in bootloader?
I do not show a connection to ActiveSync (Or in this case, Windows Mobile Device Center) when I am in BootLoader.

-try to run the regular stock rom utility while in bootloader
-if that does not work, then follow my instructions from above
OK...
I can ONLY get into Bootloader.
My Process:
-Load Bootloader...Ok
-Connect USB...Ok
-Start ActiveSync...Ok
-ACTIVESYNC, NOT CONNECTED..
-Start Stock ROM Utility
-No Device Connected
Going to try it with HERALD-USPL-beta3 instead of Stock-ROM now..
while in bootloader, read your spl number. is it lower than 4.0.0.0?
No.
Bootloader Screen:
IPL 4.10.0002
SPL 4.70.Yang
USB
EDIT:
How long Should I let herald-uspl.exe from Flash Center run before I give up on it?
your device should be able to run the ruu.exe provided by tmobile.
any luck with the uspl?

uspl doesnt seem to be going anywhere (10 min now, still step 1)
I am downloading a different Tmo rom (not the bat files i hope)
Will be trying that soon.
Thank you for your suggestions btw
are you getting any error messages?
if the ruu.exe doesn't run on the bootloader and uspl isn't working, then unfortunately, i am at a loss.
there are a few sites out there on tutorials for bricked wings... here is a link to one of them:

Okay, So now I am in a bit of a pickle... lolz
Ran the TMo Stock ROM...
It Kills my ActiveSync connection immediatly.. Doesnt see my phone.
So I reinstalled, restarted.
Retry...
Saw my phone.
Started to install. Got to 1%, then my phone booted out of BootLoader, now is back at the TouchIt Loading screen (where it is frozen).
EDIT1:
Yeah, I did the Recovery Process... It keeps going to 1% then Restarting.
EDIT2:
OMG, loading now!
Next Update Soon! (42%)
if you are getting to 1% and it is rebooting, then you should be able to use uspl to fully flash a rom. just put the nbh from your stock rom into the ruu folder and run uspl. that worked for me.

OMG Back to Stock ROM! ****in Yey!
The Stock RUU was able to complete (When it rebooted @ 1%, I forced it back into BootLoader) it then rebooted again, but actually finished this time.
congrats
i've been through that process a long time ago i know how u feel lol
sweet. next time you want to flash a rom, just use uspl. it works for me flawlessly every time.

Well, my problem came from ActiveSync... No matter what I did, It would disconnect. (This is after trying 6 DIFFERENT PCs [2 Vista] and failing) so I was trying other ways to Flash. Never again. Lolz.
EDIT:
Back at it... Flashing Hard-SPL now. lolz.
USPL totally works better... lolz.
well, its good to see that you are back in business

Problem Unlocking Diamond

Hi,
I'm using the infamous 3 step method. I'm sure you know it!
I'm stuck on the last step (STEP 3) where you have to transfer this diamunlock.exe to your device and execute it. It just RESETS my device. No splash screen to tick unlock this or that. Does the same with the patched exe thats supposed to fix the fast close. What do I do if both just reset my device what could be happening?
Thx for your response.

[Q] HTC Touch Diamond 2, not flashing

Dear Honorable Seniors, I am so obsessed to get some troubles with my htc (Touch Diamond 2).
I want to get rid off from my ROM that is already available on it (I dont how to find it is official or cooked and which is that version or name). I try to download many cooked ROMs to flash but tried two:
1-energy
2-mozart
but everytime flashing process stopped at 0% percent and after 6-7mint it display a window for recovery. I do restart my system and got the prior windows version, no flashing at all.
I thought there may be Hard-SPL issue (although I dont know what is it). I download its compatible version and try to flash Hard-SPL it also stuck at 0% and not moving upwards.
Help will be appreciated in their respect.
Sorry if my english not comprehendable I am not english speaking person.

1. Install HSPL. Follow instructions in the thread.
2. Install custom ROM.
You cannot install a ROM until you have installed HSPL first.
I think Muqaddas has already tried HSPL as he described in the post, but the progress stuck @ 0%.
Muqaddas, may be you can try below:
- Disable antivirus software, temporarily, on your PC
- Do HSPL (1.83 and update to 2.51)
- Use Advance ROM Update Utility to do a Task 29.
- Upgrade to latest Radio ROM, if not latest.
- Flash the ROM you wanted.
Hope this will help you .
Thanks.
dear prabhat thank to reply me dear:
1-during Hard spl I found my version is already about 2.16.415.3 and the version I got from Hard-spl link (your given) is showing 1.83.OliNex, yet I tried with this but again stuck at 0% (error code---262)......Can yoy please tell me how Can I check That my cell is already did hard-spl on it-----and how to know it is CID-Unlocked...............
2-by using Advance ROM Update utility, it also not being flashed and giving the same error 0% (code-262)
may this because of my PC operating system which is Windows 7?

WIN7 could be your issue, it is best to use XP. Also it is important to install the enablenewrapi.cab
You can check your SPL level by entering bootloader mode (holding Volume Down as device reboots until you get to the tri-colored screen)to verify that your SPL: version has "Olinex" as a suffix.
How to flash?
RUU.exe method;
1. Download enablenewrapi.cab, copy to your device with ActiveSync (WMDC) and execute the cab.
2. Download Topaz_CustomRUU_v1.1.zip and both the 1.83 and 2.51 HSPL files.
3. Place the CustomRUU.exe and the RUU_Signed.nbh file from the 1.83 version into the same folder on your PC.
4. With your device sync'd, run the CustomRUU.exe and follow the prompts on your PC.
5. If successful, the progress bar will go to 100% and you can enter bootloader mode (holding Volume Down as device reboots until you get to the tri-colored screen)to verify that your SPL: version has "Olinex" as a sufffix.
If so, you've successfully flashed HSPL.
Repeat steps 3-5 for 2.51
If unsuccessful....
SD Card Method;
1. Rename the RUU_Signed.nbh to TOPAIMG.nbh and place on the root of your FAT32 formatted SD card.
2. Enter bootloader mode and it should initiate the flash. You may get an error of "No Image Found" or you get progress bar stuck at 0%. This would be a failed flash, just soft reset and you'll be back to stock.
If still unsuccessful....
Try the HardSPL_V5_00R5_183HSPL.zip
my respectable serniors please help me out, I tried to change the PC which has Windows XP, and followed all the procedures you all honored but still stock on 0%.....
dear I try to flash PHOTON ROM through storage card by renaming it and placing it into the root of SD card but not being flashed................
please help
HI Muqaddas,
The issue seems to be somewhere in HSPL and the device is not ready for any custom ROM yet. I dont think PC OS has anything to do here unless the "Antivirus S/W is disabled".
Once you device is CID unlocked you should able to install any ROM .
But as you are telling you can see "1.83.OliNex" in the Bootloader... so Can you try to update that to 2.51 and see if that work?
Also try searching the "error code---262" in the HSPL thread, whihc may give you some idea...
EDIT:
ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process.
Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.
Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode.
As you said you can see the OliNex in bootloader your device is CID unlocked.
Can you try below and see if that work:
1) Upgrade your HSPL to 2.51.
2) Start Windows Mobile Device Center
3) Start your device in TriColor boot loader mode.
3) Connect you USB to PC and and make sure your device bootloader white screen say "USB"
4) Now start flashing from PC using RUU.
See if this work else try "SD Card Method" suggested by Bruce.
Hope this will help...
Thanks.
On Ur phone go to Settings-> Connections -> USB to PC & "uncheck" the option Enable faster data synchronization & then try ...worked for me
I am sorry to be desperate but after following all the precedures suggested in this place I am not successful...
I was hopefull that I might flash my TOPAZ after getting 512mb card and after many struggles I arranged it for flashing .....
but after bootloader it stuched at
loading.....
please help if someone can
Try restoring your bootloader to the stock, flash a Windows stock ROM, then come back with HSPL and custom ROM.
Hey, May be you can go to service center near to you and ask them to install new ROM so that they will install new ROM and may be try to unlock the phone if it is with them...
Once they install new ROM then I think you can continue HSPL here and have fun .
Thanks.
Dear Hamsn, Where I can get Windows stock ROM, Please any link or description......
You can get that from HTC website of your region.
Goto: http://www.htc.com/uk/selectcountry.aspx
Select your country -> Click Support -> Select your device and download the latest ROM update.
Of you can grab from here: http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=windows mobile&model=Topaz
(File: RUU_Topaz_S2_HTC_WWE_2.53.405.5_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.44etc.25.35_4.49.25.91_Ship.exe)
Just sync your device in PC and run the above file and all should get updated .
Cheers!!!

[Q] Stuck in Locked Bootloader

I managed to get myself stuck in a locked bootloader with no way to get back into android or flash a rom from recovery. Would I be able to flashboot a .img file from being bootloader locked or will I have to run the RUU.
I am only saying this because I can't get windows 8 to find my phone even with the drivers installed. I am guessing it has something to do with being USB 3.0 and on a MBP. The only way I can seem to get fastboot to work is in OS X, Wine hasn't been able to run past the initial loading screen so that idea was shot. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Unlock the bootloader..if memory serves me correctly you only need to be in fastboot for that. Once you're done with that, flash your corresponding RUU (since you don't have s-off and supercid).
Or you could flash recovery by putting it in the same folder as adb and typing "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and go from there.
And lastly just factory reset from bootloader..that could also work
